“It's not that bad”

★★★☆☆

written by on 03/09/2012

Gulliver's World is aimed at younger children. I have 4 children aged from 5 down to 10 months and we visited in August 2012. My husband and Aunt came with me so that the baby was entertained whilst we took the 5, 4 and 3 year old on the rides. They had a great day. We always take a picnic as the food is expensive and service quite slow, but I have also experienced this at Alton Towers and Blackpool. Yes it is a bit tired and dated but it is good value for money (children see most places through rose tinted glasses and this day out was for kids not me) The toilets are a bit smelly and the park is a bit understaffed, but the ones we met were friendly. To those saying they have been spoiled by Disney World in Florida, I too have been there so stop showing off. Gulliver's World isn't all glitz and glamour but it is conveniently off the motorway and not 3,ooo miles way. That is one journey we won't be doing with young kids. Please try this park, there is a recession and all places are struggling and this is good value for money.

“Close this dump down asap”

written by percy007 on 28/08/2012

We were really looking forward to this day out, I took my three kids, aged 5, and 1. Despite clear information on the website stating that most of the rides were suitable for age 2 plus this actually meant that although they could go on some of the rides they could not with at Guout an adult and as i was unable to take the 1yr old on most of the rides, the older two missed out. Total waste of money, especially since there is no difference in price for toddlers/kids/adults. Totally unjustified pricing structure. The toilets were at best squalid, the food outlets were revolting, the staff attitudes were mostly appalling, no helpful friendly faces, just surly monosyllabic teens and officious elders.... The park itself is beyond tired, it is shabby, in some places rotten and quite frankly it is an embarrassment. many of the rides were closed for ad-hoc maintenance (although none seemed to be carried out) and then reopened at random. Queues were on average 20 to 40 mins. There are so many examples of the absolutely experience we had that i think I'd better stop now. In conclusion, a waste of money and frankly, a piece of my soul died in that s***hole.

“VERY DANGEROUS FOR LITTLE ONES”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/08/2012

I took my son (3) to gullivers world- splash zone with my two friends and there little boys (both 3 too) on weds just gone, we were all so excited and looking forward to a couple of hours of fun, as we stepped into splash zone, my first thoughts were, how unsafe the place looked for are little ones, there were kids all ages running around mad and excited (as kids do) but some the kids were very big, compared to are little ones, it was over crouded and all the metal bars and climbing frames with steps and water shooting everywhere didnt look like it should mix with kids, (everywhere was so slippy) even tho the floor was padded it was very, very hard and again flooded with water and slippy. Anyway that was my first thoughts, We got dressed and kids were enjoying them selfs, even though they were getting knocked about by other older kids who were pushing past them and slipping up and down dangerous steps as water was pouring over their heads and they were trying to hold on to rails. In the space of 30mins of being there, my little boy slipped and hit the floor so hard, that its knocked his two front teeth back and his mouth is cut to bits, top, bottom, sides, gums, My boy little boy was screaming his eyes out in pain and with blood pouring from his mouth, The first aider was called over, he took a look at him and said, he will be ok, its just a cut between his gums and hes shaking because hes in shock, i wasnt to conviced and asked should i take him to a& e to get it checked out anyway, his advice was, he,ll be fine. after 20 mins, my little boy was still crying out, i knew he wasnt right, i noticed once in the car and blood cleared a little bit that his teeth looked set back, i got an emergenceny dentist appointment and the dentist said yes his teeth have been knocked back and they had moved that far back, there, their to stay. I cant describe how bad my baby looked, when he woke the next day, he looked like he,d been punched in the mouth, he woke with all blood round his mouth, and his lip was that swollen at the top, he could barely talk. I was so worried, i rang the NHS help line and was told to go to walk in centre to get him checked. 2 days later, hes still on antibiotics and ibruofen and his face/mouth all swollen and bruized and his lips cut to bits. I would not reccommend this place to anyone unless they want their child to get hurt, its just a disaster wanting to happen!

“fun times for my girls :)”

written by happymummy26 on 22/08/2012

Well i was after reviews on the splash zone as we are going next week to stay in the new hotel and two days in the theme park which we have visited twice already within last 12months!! With the cost of day to day living and being a family that just gets by each month then i appreciate having gulliver nearby and being reasonably priced for entrance!! My young children 2and 4 can go on lots of rides in the park and we have never felt let down or found thefacilities dirty!! My girls have always enjoyed the day out here and appreciate the day out as a whole! Although i am very wary of the splash zone all the reviews i have found are negative and seems many accidents have happened!! I may see if i can go in and view it myself but very cautious to take my girls in!!!

“What a let down!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/08/2012

Went to Splash Zone in Warrington with kids aged 2 - 6 years. Very excited on arrival but kids couldn't find much to do once in. Didn't like the slides because they landed on the hard floor and hurt themselves. 3 yr old was turned back at top of queue for slides - there was no sign to say who couldn't go on. Older ones loved slides but rest of time just sat and splashed in little splash pool. Nothing for 2 year old to do for more than 15 mins. My 3 year old was shivering after 40 mins and I had to take her out. The others lasted an hour and then had enough. I couldn't watch the kids walking past the end of the slides as the big kids zooming down were knocking them over. Upstairs Mikey mouse club was just a little area of padded mats and a little ball pool, very disappointing and was totally unventilated so we were all roasting! The manager was very unhelpful when I raised my concerns before I left. He said the bad reviews on the net were from a long time ago - I've just seen plenty recent ones so this is untrue.

I think that it is disgraceful that children over a certain age still have to go in with an adult at Gullivers World Warringston Spash Zone. I have come from Manchester and had to go all the way home because Gullivers World staff would not let me in. I am 12 years old.

“Good old Gullivers”

★★★★☆

written by on 30/04/2012

in defence of Gulliver's World Warrington. My 4 children practically grew up there as we live 15 minutes down the road. I now take my Goddaughter aged 3 and the nostalgic teenagers love it too. Its always been a bit understaffed, most of the rides are orginal and more have been added over the years (unlike Camolott which is so run down that every other ride site is now a coconut shy) Yes its weatherbeaten and tatty in places, but my kids and thousands of others have had some many happy days there, Visits to santa and shivering train rides in December, baking hot summer days loosing shoes above the trees on the swing roundabout. Endless queing for the Antalope and thrills on the pirate boat. Take a picnic, the food is greasy and expensive, but no more so than any other theme park) The park is in a lovely setting and really geared to the needs of motheres, toddlers and pushchairs. There are loads of seating areas with handy playgrounds nearby and a feeling that your child is safe. A lot of theme parks such as Alton Towers are over run with swearing teens and really crowded with long waiting times for even the smaller rides. With Gullivers, the trick is to head to the right and the back of the park on arrival and discover it in reverse order. There may be the occasional rat or dead frog but this is because the place is in a woodland setting! Don't be put off by these negative reviewers - Gullivers offers very good value for money and even when you finally stumble exhausted to the exit at 6pm there is a little free show to send your out smiling.

“Disappointed”

We booked tickets for Gullivers world Spashzone March 10th 2012, we visited with our 3 and 4 year olds who were very excited having seen pictures on the website. After booking the tickets we read some very worrying reviews and were very concerned but happy when we arrived to allow the children in as there weren't many older children there at the time of our visit. After going on one slide my 3 year old came out shivering because there was an outside section of the slide which isn't fully covered; we had to get him into the shower to warm up. Our daughter who is 4 didn't last much longer until she too came out shivering and asking to leave. When we felt the water it was freezing! It is a cheap attraction compared to most but our session was 2 hours and the kids were only in there about 45 minutes and they wanted to leave. We got them dressed and took them into the mickey mouse clubhouse for a little while but this area is really only for under 3's. There is an outdoor park which the kids enjoyed for about 30 minutes or so. Some areas inside the splash zone were a bit dangerous such as the areas in front of the small slides; larger kids come shooting out straight into where other kids are walking by, we saw on a number of occasions smaller children getting knocked down by bigger kids coming down the slides. Some of the reviews we read complained that their children's eyes were stinging but we didn't experience this. I think it could be good I just wish the water hadn't been so cold and my children could have enjoyed it more.

“rip off gullivers world”

written by sandramac on 12/06/2011

My daughter, two grandsons one aged 5 one aged 2 just last week, and myself paid 56pounds on a family deal, apparently we had to pay full price for the 2 year old as he was tall enough, this means if a 3 year old is slightly smaller than him they would get in for free. We had decided to take them for lunch there, expecting to pay a little more than you would anywhere else, what we didnt expect was to pay 1 pound 80 pence for a small packet of Mcvities Jaffa Cakes containing 3 biscuits, it was only when we had paid for them did we realize what a rip off. On returning home I rang Mcvities up on the customer care line to enquire the rrp, which I found out to be 62pence. They were amazed that we had been charged nearly 3 times the rrp. it worked out a nearly 60pence per biscuit. They advised me to contact Gullivers to see if they could justify the amount, I have left 4 messages on 4 seperate days for the General Manager to ring me, to date they have made no contact apart from being a rip off they dont seem to have any manners which dont cost anything, will not be going again.

I actually got in touch with the manager of Gullivers World, He was very apologetic and actually took jaffa cakes off sale untill he had looked into the matter, as he was in full agreement with myself regarding the price. Ihave since been back and had no problems, but there again my 2 year old is now three and grown a bit more maybe it would be advisable to go on the childrens ages and not their height size.

“Oh Dear - I hope the owners of Gullivers World...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 05/06/2011

Me, my partner and 6 year old decided at short notice to have a day out at Gullivers World (Warrington) for the first time. We had not read any reviews and have the following comments: 1. Upon arrival whilst cueing for our tickets we witnessed a very upset family arguing with the ticket master over the fact that the family ticket they bought did not allow them to receive a discount (£1 per child bringing a teddy) of bringing along a teddy. They pointed out that this was not made clear to them so anyone reading this review be aware. 2. Generally there were lots of repairs being carried out at various rides and we could hear engineers and staff discussing their issues. I have been to lots of parks over the years and have never experienced this before. It made me suspect the park has money issues as I will explain later. 3. We queued up for a half hour to take a ride on the wooden rollercoater. After this time they announced they wanted to grease the tracks as the hot weather was affectings its performance. I was not too bothered but most in the cue were very dissapointed. It was a good 50 minutes in total before we were able to take a ride. I have to admit the ride was brilliant but the most uncomfortable back breaking ride ever. This was because the carriages judder and jolt very hard and it caused my back to slam into the hard seat back many many times. I would not recommend this for those with a bad back. However, if the seats were padded sufficiently this issue should go away. After the ride we went down the steps to the shop where you could by photos of your experience. Oh dear! there was one girl managing the shop, making pancakes and serving at the till. When challanged about how much work she had to do to clear the queue she stated that the other girl had been sent home because it was quiet. 4. We went to the Big Top Grill for some food. Oh my god this has to be one of my biggest concerns. I watched the cleaner walk aimlessly through parts of the restaurant making the most pathetic effort to clean the tables. I watched him and the tables for about 10 minutes whilst waiting for my food and he was USELESS. IT WAS VERY CLEAR he did not clean any of the tables properly and he missed cleaning used tables just because he did not see any any left rubbish. I could clearly see a film of salt across the table tops and a sticky looking film exactly the same on my table. My table was clear but very sticky all over. The food however was fine and we made sure we ate our food on clean tissues. A clean table is one of the most basic parts of a restaurants cleaning routine and it is VERY clear the if I were the senior manager of this restaurant I would expect to be instantly dissmissed. I say this because the cleanliness issue seemed systemic and not as a result of missing one table and should easily be picked up with random checks. 5. I went to the male toilets and my partner took our 6 year old to the ladies. Oh dear! There is a definite failure here and this need huge attention. The urinals have defintiely not been cleaned properly for months and the toilet was full of paper right to the top of the lip. Also the floor was soaking and the room stunk. My partner came from the ladies side and she had exactly the same issue (except not urinals!). If I was the senior manager of this area I would expect instant dissmissal if I did not discipline the cleaner. 6. We went on the observation tower. This was boring and you could not see anything due to the trees and was not high either. The ride attendant was clearly embarrassed at the end because the ride broke down and we could not get out. We waited for 15mins whilst the engineer came and got us out of the cage. Whilst waiting for the engineer the embarrassed attendant explained we were lucky because most other rides break down 3-4 time a day and her ride had only broke down that time that day (although she did say it usually broke down many times a day and thought the engineer would be annoyed with her when he arrived). 7. On our way out of the park we saw a little show near to the entrance/exit. Oh dear! They need better material. The show was about furry characters (lion was one) (dont remember who they were but looked fine)wanting to eat differant food (Pink candy floss, Cheeseburger and t-bine steak. They then did a dance routine and song about the three food types. The kids seemed to watch it ok so maybe its just my opinion if I say it was poor material. In comparison to other parks Gullivers World falls far short in many different aspect. I dont know if the reasons are down to balancing the books (poor sales), driving up profits or simply down to poor management. each one paints a different picture on how to fix the issues. However, I am confident that if the park continues without substantial improvements they will lose valued custom and only make matters worse. Although some good bits, I will never return to this park again and hope readers of this review find it useful.

“Only suitable for 6-9 year olds”

written by Pkinsey17 on 30/05/2011

Booked to go to Gullivers Splash Zone in Warrington with 4 children aged 15, 14, 7 and 3. Was supposed to be attest as 2 of the children were visiting! What a complete waste of time and money. The older children were bored in 5 minutes. the youngest hurt herself on her first slide as did the 7 year old. To be fair, he went on to have about 1 hour of fun but there is no way we would go again. It is advertised as for children of all ages - definitely not. It is also unsafe. Mats at the bottom of slides are inadequate - and in places missing. The staff do not care about safety. When pointed out that mats were missing they simply didn't care. There is not enough to do, there are rust patches everywhere, and it smells very damp. Think it was either second hand equipment or put together on a very limited budget. I have never been tempted to post a review on anything until today but feel people need to be warned.

waste of money, was expecting gullivers to be really good for my family and 2 year old son as it advertised as been mainly for children between ages of 2 to 13 years old but couldnt belive how poor the whole place was, rides are all either dirty, damaged or just old. the day we went we paid 14.75 each and yet shops were shut, restaraunt was shut, certain rides were shut or unattended by a staff member, the little sit in car for toddlers to be pushed round the park that u can hire were both dirty inside and the belts to strap them in had gone. and then to top everything off they decided to shut the whole park at 2pm because they said there wasnt enough people in the park to warrent staying open, u wouldnt have to be a geius to work out why there wasnt many people in the park because it is so poor and not worth going to. i wont ever be going to gullivers world again and wouldnt recommend it to anyone. save your money or pay that little bit extra and go to any of the other theme parks around the country cos gullivers is so poor and could do with shutting and having a total revamp cos it is so far behind the other theme parks in every way u could think!!

I have been in the Gulliver's world this weekend with my wife and my 2 years old son. My son was just below the 90cm mark, therefore we did not have to pay a ticket for him. Most of the rides have a minimum height restriction, but we still manage to go in a good bunch of them. We had a brilliant time overall. Plenty of rides and amusements. We will definitely comeback again.

I've heard a lot of bad reviews about gullivers world so we didn't nearly go but we went with a picnic. We went to splashzone which was good the slides where a bit slippy but the bucket poured out A LOT of water but i wish it had more slides. Then we went to gullivers world theme park and it was really good we went on the antelope rollercoaster and the wild mine ride and lots others. The log flume was closed but atleast we knew about it before we entered. I would recommend bringing a packed lunch/picnik if you are to go because the food isn't that great.

written by on 01/05/2011

First impressions were not great when the snow toboggan ride comprised of a attempting to slide very slowly down what looked like a disabled ramp. The rollercoaster was frightening but for the wrong reasons. The operator was carrying out running repairs in-between rides with his toolkit, although unfortunately missed the loose grabrail on our carriage. This was eclipsed by our near death experience when we set off on the mine train and the operator had forgotten to lower our safety rail and I just managed to pull it down before the first big drop!, I like to be scarred but this incident put Alton Towers oblivion in the shade! The crazy spinning barrels were welded so the didn't spin, although this was preferable to the spinning teacups where our safety door spun open. There was confusion when many children passed the height restriction guide at the beginning of the que, yet failed it at the end of a 30 minute wait, possibly part of the lilliputian magic?or possibly the fact the the height markings were hand drawn using a felt-tip and varied by upto 15cm. We had to push ourselves around the water ride as the flow of water wasn't powerful enough to propel the craft, some other voyagers abandoned ship! I could go on but amazingly our 6 year old daughter loved it and we were laughing all day.

today i took my granddaughter and other family members to gullivers world, having taken my own children to gullivers at matlock many years ago i had high expectations. These were crushed very quickly, the place was unkempt and in need of a total refurb. The plastic santa's and snowmen scattered around were very badly weather beaten(old). The meal was disgusting, barely warm, frozen veg was still frozen. Not enough staff to cope with the volume of visitors, the staff however were very attentive and did their best. In total we paid £200.00 not including items bought in the shop,if you are the owner reading this reveiw then take our £200.00 and buy some paint, today you lost alot of future custom the standard was very poor.

my 7, 9 and 11 year olds love this place. lots of rides for all ages, sure some are quite sad looking, but KIDS love them. Good value for money at approx £13 a head for 10 hours of entertainment. Could do with more food outlets, and the staff in the ones they have seem not to care and be shortstaffed. But for the price its well worth a visit, plus go and see the shows, just not the gully mouse ones at the entarnce!!

“I wouldn't disagree with a lot of comments on this...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 04/10/2010

I wouldn't disagree with a lot of comments on this site about Gullivers World as some of the attractions are quite embarrassing (Alladins Circus, Lost World Safari, Tomb Raider ride etc). The place could do with a full refurbishment and a clearout of some of the severely outdated rides.
Having said that, this theme park is geared towards very young children and my three year old son loves it there. The staff are also very well mannered and polite. The indoor splash park is a good idea and there are other attractions for little ones if the weather is bad.
We bought gold passes, so you can come and go as you please and it includes halloween, bonfire night and Christmas events, and the fact that we only live about 35 minutes drive away makes it a handy location. Someone must have done their sums wrong though because it actually works out cheaper than having gone once and paid full price for two adults and a child. A member of staff told us that out of several thousand visitors on one particularly busy day, only nine people had paid full price due to passes etc so I don't know how the Gulliver's franchise is making any money with a system like that. Not that I'm complaining...
If you've been spoiled by DisneyWorld and Universal Studios, Gullivers is quite a laughable experience, but it does pay to remember the age group that this place caters for and put it in some perspective.

“This theme park was absolutely dreadful. It's...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jovigirl on 09/08/2010

This theme park was absolutely dreadful. It's probably the worst one I've ever been to in my entire life. Our local town fair has better rides for children, which are better maintained. The worst of the rides had to be Aladdin's Circus, which was so bad it was embarrassing. All the rides were desparately in need of a lick of paint and a good old dust. I can't believe that somewhere so poor is still in business.

Perhaps it's because we've been spoiled and been to Disneyland Paris and Disney World Florida, but if this is the best that the UK has to offer then I am not surprised tourism is heading to other countries. It was nothing short of an absolute disgrace and even my 3 year old was totally unimpressed by the place. Perhaps the owners could have ploughed a bit more money into the rides that they already have there, improving them rather than building expensive outdoor playareas for the children. These are nice in the right place, but not when I have paid a small fortune to get in, when I can take my 3 year old to a one free of charge down the road.

The best part of the whole experience had to be the barrel ride that we went on and had the glorious view of a decomposing dead frog floating in the water next to us. Just what you want to see on what is supposed to be an enjoyable family day out.

The food was very poor and not cheap either. We spent the grand total of 4 hours there and even that was stretching things out a bit.

All I can say is I was very pleased when I got back in my car and left the awful place.

Please don't waste your money on this place, it is horrendous!
