I have been ringing Swinton month after month trying to get my claim sorted getting passed from Swinton Bikes with no explanation to another team that can't help to then another company that can't help getting told one thing then another, i had, had enough. I phoned one last time and spoke to Rich who listened and then acted, i was no longer the person phoning round he did it for me all in a day got me a direct number and name to speak to in the correct claims department and also gave me his full name and kindly said he would deal with any further issues i had even though he was not the person i needed to speak to which was comforting. I have not spoke to him again as i have not needed to but he is a credit to Swinton and i just wish i had spoken to him on the first call.

£50 charge to cancel my policy with only 3 months left at £9 a month... er no i'll just ride out the policy... 3 weeks later i get a letter for £65.18 because i'd cancelled my policy.. What the Hell!!!

I have just written to Go Compare where I initially found the policy and urged that they visit the reveiw centre to see how common lace the complaints are regarding Swinton. While I appreciate that they do not represent Swinton or any other company, i feel they should have a general warning that some insurance companies charge an exorbitant cancellation fee - namely Swinton. I am so angry I want to start a major blog and have it go viral about these thieves

I am going to write a review on here and then post all of these reviews onto Facebook. I believe Swintons will end up having to pay money back like the PPI claims - at least I HOPE 111111

Rang with change to policy. Policy only had 3 months left but they are insisting on charging me for the entire 12 months, payable over the 3 months remaining. Why would I have to pay for 9 months worth of extra premium I did not use?! I was lead to believe differently when I first rang, and have requested a recording of that first phonecall - at a charge of £10! Complaining to financial obudsman, these guys are cowboys.

Called the service dept today to try and sort out the fact I am not showing on the national database as insured. After 3 previous conversations with various people who couldn't seem to solve the issue, I spoke to a very upbeat, pleasant and most of all helpful lady called Eve who sorted the situation straight away. She called the insurance company and called me back as promised with a answer of why and what had been done to solve the problem.. After all my concerns and worries Eve put my mind at rest straight away , a credit to the company Not often these days to get some good old fashioned service, long may it continue

My broker was taken over by Swinton last year. Swinton have just come back with a best quote 66% higher than the year before, despite no changes whatsoever (other than the car being valued LESS now). Went on Compare the Market and had 80 quotes less than my PREVIOUS year's quote. How can they get it SOOOOOOOOOO wrong, or are they on the rob?

I have been calling their customer service for the last 4 days trying to get a car insurance. Each time, my call lasted for 30 mins or more, and needless to say, it is costing a fortune. It seems like they are trying to make money by placing customers on hold until they drain their phone bills. I would have considered using their services to acquire car insurance but thank god this happened, now i know to stay well away from them. Definitely wont recommend anyone using Swinton!

Terrible terribe company. Plagued by phone calls selling other insurances. premium doubled on my next year so I rang to cancel (which they deny and want to charge me £10 per recorded telephone message if I want a copy of it to prove I did!) - bought motorbike insurance from Bennets withing 1 HR of cancelling. 2 weeks later I got the insurance policy from Swinton despite cancelling it. I am currently in an ongoing dispute involving the financial ombudsman over it. Do yourself the biggest favour ever and don't get involved with Swinton in the first place.

do not insure with swinton bikes, I took out a policy for my Kawasaki zzr600 a few days before i went to pick up the bike from where i bought it from, on the day i went to pick up my bike i called them to make sure everything was in order and the bike was on the motor insurance database, to find out that my bike was not yet covered for another week, (someone put in the wrong date into the computer system) i was told that i had to cancel my policy, then take out another policy then they advised me i had to pay another DEPOSIT!! i had just paid a couple of days before anyhow reluctantly i did this and left it at that until a few days ago when i asked them to change my bike on the policy. and i got sorry sir we cant cover you your too big a risk, i was thinking its the same bike as before just 2 years newer. they then advised me they had to cancel my policy costing £190.00. the policy has only been in-force for 1 month and my total for the year was £340.00 TALK ABOUT BEEN RIPPED OFF DO NOT USE SWINTON BIKES EVER!! TOTAL RIP-OFF'S

Insured new bike with Swinton Bikes in January 2012. Rang Customer Services to check policy was setup and ask when documents would be sent out. First impression was that they couldn't even be bothered to talk to me, let alone welcome me as a new customer! Fair enough, documents arrived....The real hardship came when I passed my bike test and rang them to let them know.... RIGHT SIR, THAT'LL BE £25.00. Err, what for? I'm only advising you that I've just passed my test. AH, BUT IT'S A CHANGE TO YOUR POLICY. WE IMPOSE (NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY) A STANDARD CHARGE OF £25.00. Ok can you tell me how your charge is justfied please?...........CLICK! They terminated the call!!!!! How dare they..I don't think i'm being unreasonable in asking where my money is going and why i'm being charged. I called them a couple of days later to advise that I was also changing my bike to a 600cc (recently had a 125cc). Guess what OK SIR, THAT'LL BE ANOTHER £25.00 CHARGE. I reluctantly agreed to the charge and proceeded to get a quote for the new bike. SORRY SIR, BUT YOUR PRESENT INSURER WONT COVER YOU. SO, WE'LL HAVE TO CANCEL THIS POLICY DOWN. THAT'LL BE £25 ADMIN FEE AND £50 CANCELLATION FEE. SO YOU WILL GET APPROX 51% OF YOUR POLICY PRICE THAT YOU PURCHASED 10 WEEKS AGO! I was absolutley astounded at this point, so much so, I have shopped around and although they quoted me for the new bike £307 including the cancellation fee and admin fees, I have managed to get a NEW policy with a decent insurer (Bennetts) for £159 - ALMOST HALF OF SWINTON BIKES QUOTE! When I called to cancel the policy down, I was greeted again with TERRIBLE customer service. Couldn't be bothered, sighing all the time, couldn't tell me when or where my refund was going. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DO NOT USE SWINTON BIKES. THEY REALLY ARE RUBBISH. THERE ARE BETTER DEALS TO BE HAD WITH MUCH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I am absolutely disgusted. I recently bought a little scooter, which was £75 a year to insure. (£9 per month). 5 months into the policy, I decided to sell my bike as I was strapped for cash. I rang swinton to be let them know I was cancelling my policy, to find that they were charging me MORE than my actual insurance to cancel! What a joke! I dont expect to pay £85 to cancel a policy for a sudden change in circumstance. Suffice to say when I get a new bike i most certainly wont be getting insured with them!!! If you don't want to be BUM R*PED with unforseen charges, DON'T INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY!

Tried to contact them on more than one occasion to change details of cover, left in a queue, eventually put through to switchboard, left message for call back and never got one. The most annoying thing is that they bombard you weeks with sales calls and are VERY pushy, not what you need with your mobile going off and you are at work. If they don't get through they withold the number and try again! Insurance has just come up for renewal I and have noticed I have been charged a PRE RENEWAL deposit taken 8 weeks prior to renewal. What's that all about?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. They also charge £25 set up for for each bike on a multi bike policy (£75 before you've even started) then you can't add or change a bike through the term, if you cancel one you get charged £50. Thought the idea of multi bike was being able to change over? Needless to say I won't be renewing with them and will fight for my money back. Have been with many insurance companies in my time, some good, some bad but these take the biscuit.

I had to take this shower to the County Court. I was sick and tired of all their marketing phone calls. You have to give your phone number when you start a policy and they use this to phone you, offering products to insure your house, dog, car, life etc. I went to 2 local branches and completed stop forms. Did the calls stop? Did they heck. I spent a couple of hours on the phone ringing their head office and then decided to issue a claim via www.moneyclaim.gov.uk They just paid up without contesting. Dreadful company, which is a shame as their prices are OK>

These people are so rude and inconsiderate; I was charged £24 (fairly) because my direct debit bounced, but in the letter they sent me they said they'd try it again in 3-5 days (like anyone could have the money on their account in such a short period of time if it wasn't on there in the first instance), so they tried it again after 3 days and obviously it didn't work - I then called up today (on the 5th day) and tried to discuss it and make a payment; not only were they inconsiderate, but the girl I spoke to sounded like she didn't like men at all, she was so rude, so obnoxious and her tone was incredible, how can any customer be forced to put up with this kind of insolence? And how can a person like that be employed by anyone? Anyway I ended up having to pay another £12 on top of my £24 (plus my monthly policy charge). - I would have been happy to pay all of this if the girl ("Katie") would have explained it in a more polite manner, rather than barking it at me like some sort of angry Rottweiler. I don't know what their claim cover is like but it's definitely not worth the trouble, customer service is key to any business and I'd rather pay an extra £100 per year if it means I can talk to someone that has my best interests in mind, rather than their own or that of their employer. Please avoid this company at all costs: don't let their prices, their fancy website or their advertisements lure you in. - You'd be biting on bait that's too big to swallow, and it will be REALLY uncomfortable.

Being short of money, Swinton were a few pounds cheaper than Bennets, so I signed up and paid the money in full. When the documents arrived there was a mistake with my no claims discount years, this to them was massive to sort out, but in the end I received the amended documents. Then a couple of weeks later they cancelled my cover? They claimed that I had not supplied my old Bennets insurance details, which I had. So they took most of my money as a penalty and left me with no insurance. After a number of phone calls they admitted that it was in fact their mistake, I had in fact supplied the details, they had just failed to check with Bennets and they then re insured my bike. BUT they refused to repay the money they had taken off me and simply reinstate my insurance and if I wanted the remaining money returned so I could go elsewhere they would take even more off me. So I had to pay them even more money to get my bike insured. I will never use them again, they are useless, use them at your peril...you have been warned.

i just want to let people know what a very poor company swinton bikes are.it all started of so well, however on my way down to oulton park with a few of my friends(i live in fife, scotland)we pulled into a service station for a bite to eat, when we went to leave my bike wouldnt start so i called the breakdown company that i had my breakdown cover with through swinton.i waited nearly an hour and when the guy came his words were "oh its a bike, i dont know anything about bikes", bloody great i thought, any way he had a wee look around it....odd tap here and there....a wee pull at the fairing ect..30 mins later he decided he couldnt fix it. he went back on his phone and after a while told me that it would have to get towed to a garage however....it would be another at least 2..yes 2hours before it was picked up. i waited and waited and thought sod it, i will try to start it again and like magic it sprung back into life.....so away we went and had a lovely long weekend of bike racing at oulton park. i have also broken down at home and they have sent someone out again that doesnt have a clue about bikes. i am also due £25 cashback which i have still not recieved. they say and promise you everything to get your custom then treat you like dirt. when my policy expires in march i will be calling them and telling them where they can stick thier policy.NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I EVEN LOOK ON THE SWINTON WEBSITE FOR BIKE INSURANCE.HAVE NEVER MET A COMPANY LIKE THEM

I am appealing to all motorcyclists out there who are considering insuring their bike with Swinton - DO NOT DO IT. There are few words (or expletives) that accurately describe the level customer service Swinton Bikes offers. I can only say that it is lacking in almost every possible way. If they say they are going to call you back they won't, if they say they'll offer you value for money they won't, and if they find an opportunity to rip you off and charge you for something mind-bogglingly obscure you can be sure that they will. I found them to be sneaky, argumentative and extremely unhelpful - and I think it is a sad reflection of modern life that we pay good money for this kind of thing. I will never use Swinton again.

Never ever not insure nothing in this terrible company. They charge for everything. After somebody stole my moped they still take money from my account and want 300 pounds for cancellation!! it's ridiculous. After month i'm still waiting for my claim. People who work there are rude, not helpful and not qualified. I think its the worst insurance company in whole world!!
