written by on 22/12/2009

Last time I use Asda home delivery was nearly one year ago. That time they didn't show up and didn't even bother to phone to tell us what happen. We phoned the customer service twice , waited and waited , still nothing turned up. So we gave up.
This time, because all the delivery slots from other supermarkets were all fully booked so we had no choice but to use them again. And it was the begining of the home delivery nightmare again!!! They did turn up this time but more than half the items were missing. We aldy phoned the customer service three time and still nothing sorted but telling us to wait and wait again. So we are going to phone them again, to spend a lot of time to ask about the refund again.(I'm not even sure they will do that because it seems that nobody in their customer service bother to do any work for their customers.)
Really disappointed and this is definately the last time we use the service and I don't think I will even shop from Asda shop again.

written by strongy39 on 08/12/2009

I have been an Asda home delivery customer since the service started in my area in July 09. And frankly it is TERRIBLE they have failed to get my order correct over 7 deliveries. The latest order was the straw that broke the camels back. Asda owe me £40 for goods not delivered and items that were either expired or very close to the expiry date and i am having to phone them at 5ppm daily with no joy. The helpline is an absolute joke they just pacify you with kind words and do absolutly nothing. The biggest joke but not at all funny was when i attempted to purchase wine on a 3 for £10 offer. I ordered 3x rose and 3x red and received 4 rose and 2 red they substituted by brand rather than colour of wine duhhhhh. Hence it cost me £10.87 for 2 bottles of red wine. Oh sorry they kindly refunded me 78p.

written by creamrose on 08/12/2009

This Sunday I had an online Asda delivery, online my receipt print out was for just over £257, when the shopping turned up Asda had charged me £341.
I rang the online query number and the girl assured me that only £257 would be taken from my account and that she would ring the store involved to get authorisation for the refund to go ahead, two days later £341 had been taken from my bank account! I phoned the online shopping service centre back this morning where I was told the receipt was correct. I said that I wanted the number of our local store where I could go and take the receipt so they could go through it with me,I was given a phone number for a store more than three hundred miles away; after ringing directory enquiries I managed to get through to our local Asda store, I went through item by item and the girl added up my bill, it came to £280 then minus the £38 promo savings took it down to approx £240, there were also three items that were charged but were not delivered and that took it down to approx £236. Asda can take my money in one day but I now have to wait up to ten days for my money to be refunded; if anyone else took money from your account without your permission it would be called theft!!!!!!

I have had 7 deliveries from the Carlisle branch of Asda and at first gave the errors made the benefit of the doubt. By the 7th order i have now completly lost my patience and faith in Asda. The service is frankly TERRIBLE. They still owe me nearly £40 for missing items and goods that were out of date or expire within 2 days of receipt. Trying to get any joy out of them either their Helpline (thats a joke) or the store who dont answer the phone is pointless and expensive. Calls charged at 5ppm. Dont order wine the packers blatently dont have a clue. i ordered 3 bottles or red for £10 and 3 bottles of rose for £10 and recieved 4 rose and 2 red they had substituted the brand rather than colour of wine duhhhh.

“ASDA home delivery for groceries is DREADFUL. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/12/2009

ASDA home delivery for groceries is DREADFUL.

When we first used the home shopping service, for the first 2-3 deliveries we were delighted with ease of ordering online, the reliability of the service and the courtesy of the drivers. Thereafter we have had problems with EVERY single delivery. Rarely turns up within the booked time slot, smashed eggs, incorrect items, missing items, and - worst of all - very short "Use By" dates on meat, fresh fish, vegetables, and salad items. If you want to get the bulk of your weekly grocery shop, most of the "fresh" produce has to be used within 2 days, so a large proportion of it will end up in the trash. On one occasion we were delivered fresh chicken that actually smelt bad.
Dealing with the customer services team in South Africa is a nightmare.
If you are not with BT for phone services you could pay a lot of money to call ASDA on the 0844/0845 number.
You might get a voucher for free delivery or something if you complain vehemently, but this does not compensate for the aggravation.
Even if you are lucky enough to get a refund on your credit card, you still have to waste time and fuel going out to buy replacement foodstuffs from another supermarket.
On the last and FINAL time we tried this service - December 2009 - customer services refused to refund items because the home shopping manager in the store wouldn't cooperate - he insisted that we take the items back to store for a refund - 22 mile round trip, £5 in fuel and 1 & 1/2 hours out of our working day. Our bill was £6.09 dearer because they had substituted a cheap bottle of their own brand wine and we'd lost the Multibuy discount.
NEVER AGAIN!
Take a look at the forum on MoneySavingExpert.com - search "ASDA Complaint" - you'll see how many generic problems there are.
Have now given up - gone over to Tesco which may not be cheapest but at least you get what you paid for.

the worst place in the world to get your shopping delivered from! they give you a 2 hour time slot and always turn up late. when the shopping finally gets to you some idiot has put loose fruit in with all the tins and gets so badly smashed it becomes unidentifiable let alone unedible! the last time i used asda delivery a 4 pack of baked beans arrived that had been damaged for so long they actually had MOULD growing out the top and i dont mean a little, i mean it looked like it was wearing a wig!! add to this the items "they didnt have in stock" that are in abundance on the shelves when you go in and look for yourself. poor service, poor quality, poor hygiene, thats ASDA price!

written by on 14/11/2009

Have been using Asda for a few years. Never had many problems apart from the odd missing item, usually delivered next day with apologies. In the last 6 months or so i've noticed things going downhill. I normally get deliveries between 6 & 8pm weeknights, but recently they are always late, the latest so far 2 1/2 hours. They do phone to tell you though. This week they were 1 1/2 late, & 15 items were missing. Called local supermarket who said will get items out tomorrow bet. 6 & 8. Asked if they wanted a list, they said no! we will get from the Call Centre (I hadn't phoned the call centre!!) I asked will I phone the call centre, they said no!(Thought maybe they have psychics working there!) They called next day to ask for a list of items! Got them 1 1/2hours late, some items were wrong stuff, what a shock! Will never ever be using them again

I too "tried" to take advantage of the 2 for £7 tins of chocolates. I ordered on Thursday 5th November and chose home delivery for today (8th)between 4pm - 6pm. The checkout produre was completed and they took my payment.
Today whilst awaiting my delivery i received a phone call from ASDA at 1.15pm - (a mere 3 hours before my delivery was due) to advise me they were completely out of stock and wouldnt be coming. When i asked for a like for like alternative i was simply advised "we have nothing left."
This was my first and definatley my last experience of "ASDA ONLINE".

“This is the second time I have had to deal with this...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/11/2009

This is the second time I have had to deal with this awful service! The first was when I helped to get a friend up and running with the service. Her first (and only) delivery was totally screwed up and they offered nothing by way of compensation. She didn't use them again. Somehow, at the time, I must have subscribed, too, because offers have been coming through to my email. A great deal came through, on the 4th of November '09, to my email box: two tins of chocolates (being offered everywhere else for £5 a tin) for £7. My mother is travelling abroad and wanted to take 6 tins as gifts. It seemed foolish not to take advantage. The offer supposedly was running til today: 8th of November. I seem to have been alerted with 4 days to go. I attempted to order today, the last day of the offer, and realised the offer price had been restored to the £5 tin price. I called their customer service to query this, and was told by a 'phone-soldier', who put me on hold to consult with her manager, that: you had to have had the offer goods delivered by today in order for the offer to stand. This was blatantly untrue, as when I tried to order the same goods 2 days ago, for the same delivery date, next Tuesday, the offer price held. I asked to talk to be transferred to a manager who confirmed what the 'phone-soldier' told me was not true but that Asda had the right to change it's offers at any time. I was furious, at being lied to and then being told that basically Asda can say what they want and then change their mind. What a great way to do business! I rang a store, about two miles down the road, and the offer still stands there and, to be honest, whilst they have agreed to hold the goods for me, I don't really want to have to deal with Asda again, or give them a penny. They do nothing but attempt to scam their way out of the problems they cause, offer nothing in the way of compensation when they let you down and don't offer to honour there pledges, even when you catch them out. AVOID USING THEIR ONLINE SERVICE, IT REALLY IS THAT BAD!!!

This is my 3rd online order with Asda and it will be my last. My delivery time was Thurs 4pm-6pm but did not arrive until 7pm. After checking my order I realized there were nine items missing ie cakes/bread,so I phoned customer services on an 0845 number and was told they would get back to me for a redelivery but after waiting 2hrs I heard nothing so I phoned again three more times and in the end was told it would be sent out on Sat. Asda delivered it on Sat but they failed to include 2 loaves of bread. I have tried to contact them and after numerous calls have still not got all of my order as they are completely
disregarding my request

“INneeded some serious shopping decided to give Asda...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/10/2009

INneeded some serious shopping decided to give Asda Home shopping a shot.

My shop came to £88 it arrived at the designated time (11 am), because of my flu (which I currently have plus emphysema which has at the moment kept me housebound) I told the driver to put the bags in the hallway, rather than taking it through to the kitchen and to throw leave the paperwork for me to sign, which I duly signed and he went on his way. I then checked my shopping to find that .....not one item.... but 17 items (which amounted to over half the price of the shopping) was missing, I then phoned the number given, only to end up speaking to someone in South Africa, now I am not complaining about this, because imo, they were the only ones that were actually trying to sort it. They eventually spoke to some guy (the homeshopping manager at Park Royal) who told them he would get it sorted straight away and would call me straight back and let me know whats going on, by 5pm I was getting very p*ssed off, I had actually called the same number 4 times to find out what was happening, my daughter then called and got the number of Park Royal and spoke to Eric herself who assured her he had it in hand and it was being sorted as they spoke and he would call me straight away, now fast forward to 8.45 pm, still no phone call so I call the call centre once again (all in all it took 9 phone calls) to be told that Eric was personally loading my shopping at that moment and it would be sent in a taxi. 10.15pm I am still waiting, it finally arrives (Park Royal is only about 20 mins away from me.

Right hallelujah my shopping arrives (or has it), on checking three items were missing and instead of a beef joing I end up with a gammon joint, so, not being happy with this I called again this morning, I am now on the 5th phonecall, each time with a promise from them that they would get back to me, only one has so far, and that was the guy in South Africa. I then call Asda HO in Leeds to be put through to ....... Yup you got it, South Africa, who then promised that he would get someone to call me back, he offered me £5.50 on my next homeshop (yeah as if I am going to use them again), and said I could keep the gammon

What annoys me is, when I phoned the actual store, they kept me holding on for 20 mins before cutting me off completely (they couldnt find a manager).

My last call was again to South Africa, I told them I dont want their fvcking £5.50 (I didnt swear to them though), I have actually been perfectly civil), I also told them that I was housebound and had Swine Flu, however, if I have to drag myself to the store and speak to the top manager I WILL, I am now currently waiting on a phone call back.

I do not intend to take this treatment. I am going to push and push this, I could understand if it was a one off, but looking on here, it seems as if their customer service really needs a good shake up.

I have had to rate ASDA to be able to publish this, can I say that if I had my way they wouldnt get ONE STAR

“I have to add to the ever growing list of unhappy Asda...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/10/2009

I have to add to the ever growing list of unhappy Asda customers. I have used them approx 10 times over the past year and I would say only once or twice have I been happy with service received. I have tended to re-use them (much to my regret afterwards) due to having sourced a free delivery code from somewhere mainly or because they are slightly cheaper than my usual Tesco. I really begrudge paying the delivery charge especially when they always make such a complete mess up of the service.
My worst experience has to be when I was expecting a delivery on a friday evening and even after several phone calls and empty promises from the store manager, the shopping finally turned up on Sunday. I did get a £10 voucher as gesture of goodwill as a result but that in no way made up for the inconvenience and cost of phone calls, not to mention the amount of waiting in on false promises of delivery. I often have many items missing from my orders too, which means phone calls (at cost - 0844 number) for their error.
Something else which annoys me about Asda is how early they take payment, until recently they took payment the day before the shopping was coming, which is clearly not acceptable. Now that you can ammend your order up til 10pm the night before they have changed when they debit your payment card to the 'crack of dawn' on the day regardless of what time later that day the shopping will actually be done. Now if products are out of stock, they have already charged you for them regardless and they then have to refund you, which takes time. Surely the sensible way would be for the personal shopper who picks the items to charge when all have been picked as then it will be for the correct amount, and then it gets loaded onto delivery van.
Their call centre staff are clearly located in another country, and have real trouble with basic requests. All in all, even with a free delivery code, Asda are simply not worth the hassle.

“We ordered our shopping from ASDA.com, the prices were...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/10/2009

We ordered our shopping from ASDA.com, the prices were low (as you would expect from ASDA) and the website was very easy to use.
On the day of delivery, we recieved a call from the driver saying he was outside, so we went outside to meet them. They were nowhere within sight, but we waited for about 10 minutes just incase.
After 10 or 15 minutes we got an angry phone call from the driver, implying that we were messing him around and to hurry up. We told him that we were at our front door and he was nowhere to be seen. He then confirmed my girlfriends name (as the order was under her name) and said he was at our delivery address. However the address he gave wasnt ours, nor was it even close to ours. It was infact in a completely different postcode, over 4 miles away. He then blamed us for the error, but agreed to deliver the food to our correct address. He never turned up or phoned back.
We then rang ASDA to find out where our food was. Again we were told it was our fault and that we had obviously given them the wrong address, but they would gladly deliver it to us the next day. Again, they never turned up and when i called to find out why, they said my delivery had been rejected by me and so, it was apparently my fault once again.
ASDA never once apologised to me or my girlfriend. After three hours of phone calls, they told us that it was 'not within their power' to redeliver our food and said we should just order it again. We told them that we would never make that mistake again and ordered from Tesco instead.

Placed an online grocery shop for delivery last sunday (now Friday!!), called twice on the Sunday to chase when it hadnt arrived 3hours late and was told it was on its way. 5 days later and im still waiting, terrible service!
Called to complain on Monday and was assured I would get a call back from a manager, and guess what .... yes still waiting, worst service ever.

Placed order with Tesco instead for the next day, arrived on time, all order delivered and friendly service, will never use ASDA again

Awful customer service at Asda - I have placed three orders now (you think I would learn) and only one has been delivered - but they only came with about 10% of the order. Have tried several times to talk to them but no joy. I think the call centre is in India and they can't apologise enough but still don't do anything. Avoid Asda if you can

written by on 01/09/2009

I used to shop regularly at Asda (Bournemouth Central) as I worked nearby but I noticed after about 5 years how downmarket the store had become. Staff who couldnt care less, downright rude:(if you cant see it on the shelf we HAVEN'T got it) and scruffy to the point of dirtyness. The last straw was listening to a supervisor and customer shouting at each other at the checkout queue over an alleged pricing error, and my mother trying to return 'fresh' trout that was full of maggots and being told by the staff that this was normal. I even tried an online shop but the quality supplied was awful and arrived late. I now shop at Tesco and cant fault them!

written by on 31/08/2009

Absolutely appalling. Asda's customer service is dreadful and expensive (5p per minute then you are put on hold). The ability of staff at the call centre to understand and for you to be understood is difficult (which further tots up phone bill and adds to frustration). Items arrive often split including bleach and curry!! This time though half the items didn't arrive at all!! They make tesco online service look like a new century. Shame but all I can say is that they are rubbish and I do a lot of online shopping and have tried Asda many times but I ma afraid I have to admit defeat... even the cheap prices and cheap delivery incentives will no longer lure me in...

Would have given them 0 stars but it appears I have to give min of one star.

Just when I start to love a range of goods, Asda stops selling it! Do you know how I can request to Asda to start re-selling the stuff I love? For example it has stopped selling Sunbites original crisps and only sells the flavoured versions which are not nearly as nice! I want to ask them to go back to selling this!! Advice please!

I'm afraid this IS a typical supermarket practice. It's down to their statistics and if they show poor figures, then the line is "pulled." I know it very often doen't make sense, particularly when they appear to sell out, week in, week out. Do I think they sometimes get it wrong ? The answer is, "Absolutely !" But you have to realise, this IS a numbers game and what to you think it really matters to Asda if they get the stats on an odd line, wrong ?

No I've tried every supermarket online and all bad for packing morrisons really bad just tried wwaitrose first time excellent hoping second delivery will be good also. It really annoys me when they pack raw meat in with fresh food . It's not rocket science they don't store raw meat in with the dairy and fresh food so why is it ok to pack it that way.

As far as I know you can only show the picker your preference for substitutions. You can set the substitutions as yes or no in your account and you can also alter it for individual items when you are checking out. You can leave instructions for the delivery driver, such as please use back door etc. But it doesn't seem that there is any way to leave specific instructions for the picker.
