NTL is now better with the blue layout. I prefer NTL because when I had Sky it kept crashing. NTL crashes less and the movies are now shown earlier and with more selection. All movies are show on one channel, channel 0. As before they were show on different channels. NLT are improving thier service all the time. Now they have a better selection of games at a cost, but you can play them. Also there is more interactive services. Like Big Brother voting at 25p a vote.
NTL is now faster.

Have had NTL, previously Comtel, for nearly 9 years without any real problems at all. Upgraded to digital TV nearly four years ago, and was pleased with all the extra channels you could get. Coupled with a super cheap phone service, its price at £28 a month plus phone calls was excellent. Sad to lose the service when I could no longer afford the TV.

It's strange to think that some people such as myself have experienced an appalling service, (and now they have withdrawn it completely after 8 pm, and at weekends) and it seems some people are getting a good one, do NTL cherry Pick?, makes you wonder!

We were with NTL:home for a long time i.e. phone,internet,Digital TV. No more though,reason after paying the phone bill got cut off 4 times NTL then tried to charge us £30 each time for reconnection even though we sent proof the phone bills were paid on time.Customer services are the worst i have ever come across found the NTL staff rude and uncaring. Next the billing process was a mystery to me, we signed up for one package say £25 a month we got billed different amounts every month we were overcharged every month add to being cut off i.e. telephone that was it for us this all happened over an 8 month period. Back to BT and SKY for us...

NTL have to be the worst company ever created. We have been with NTL (my family as a whole) for a very long time, even back when they were named soemthing else. They cut me off even though I had paid the bill. I even had the bank stamped reciept and the con artists said I had not paid. So my grandmother was in tears and I had to pay another £30.00 just so she could have her tv back on. Then I was given the wrong info by one customer service advisor so i called back and it was acknowledged i was given the wrong info. They said they would send an engineer instead of giving me the correct information. Then Channel 5 was down and they said they would send another engineer and then finally said well we know its broken we were told of a fault just now by a supervisor. this had gone on for 3 weeks and the staff were ony just informed that threre was a fault when i conveniently demanded to speak to a supervisor about compensation. This company is complete utter rubbish sky is a million times better. Buyer beware. Stay away from NTL.

My mate says their internet broadband is always down to.

All I can say is DITTO, I too had problems with billing, I even pay by direct debit and once I had to prove to THEM that a payment had been taken!

“I had Sky and Bt Broadband ”

I had Sky and Bt Broadband
Came to Ntl full tv package and 1meg Internet, the tv is slow to respond and the menu shows programs that have already ended!, It is not user friendly and the box constantly needs reseting.
Internet, runs slow, and is frquently down, I have never seen the 1 meg speed, bt500 was faster

Customer services:...Appauling, 90 min wait on the phone is usual, I emailed a complaint and they rang me 2 months later!

In all: i CANT wait for my year to be up and get back to Satelite and BT!!!!

“TV ”

TV
The TV packages with NTL:home are competitive when compared to Sky and other digital providers. There are occasional outages - but these have lessened considerably over the last year as ntl have got their act together. The interactive side of ntl and email / internet are very slow and could be described as woeful compared with Sky. Still great value for money though if you just want to watch your TV rather than play with it. Technical helplines have improved in last year - easier to get through, although if your query is technical the chances are you'll be more of an expert than the person you get to speak to. There's been a couple of price rises in the last few years but they've only been a quid or so each time and have coincided with the introduction of new channels (eg UK History)
Telephone
OK. No problems. It's just a telephone line, right? Good value for money (£6 monthly line rental which worked out cheaper than BT for me).
Broadband
Not had experience of other broadband providers, but I've found ntl to be fantastic. I've now got the 600k service at £24.99 a month. Online gaming is a breeze and the service is high quality with very few outages suffered in last year. Would strongly recommend it. You also get 50meg of free web space.

Thought it was very good to start with but soon missing Sky's versatility,had to go back as the family were threatening murder,just so much more user friendly!No complaints with phone or internet.Rating for tv only....

We have had NTL analogue cable for 10 years. We went digital 2 years ago. We have the family pack for £28 with over 100 channels. Movies package costs £47.50, we sometimes have that for one month only at Christmas. It is awkward to browse the channels, some freezing can occur or long waits for "gathering data" Sky Digital do it better. The interactive service through TV, is so slow we don't bother with it. I have my internet connection on dial up as my 56k speed is fine, £10 per month unlimited, in 2 hour blocks.
The phone deals are great I have one line free, and call charges are low. Billed monthly so you can cut back to save money.

One annoyance with going digital, if you rent a pay per view movie and your viewing is disturbed, you can't tape it and I have missed the ending of a film, because of this.

Frequent screen black outs during viewing. Outages late at night.
No guarantees of service.

NTL customer services have been improved.

Early days yet as I have only had it for 1 week. Good value for money as I get the three services for the price of my BT bill. Installation went smoothly with minimal disruption to family or garden. As stated above I find the colours chosen for the TV program selection screens difficult to read and the controls take a bit of getting used to. No problems with telephone or broadband (600k).
