The best reviewer and tester out there has to be commercial cleaning companies. They don't have a yellow lego tornado unit, they have Henrys. Have carried out a destruction test on it myself when I sucked up the left over brick chunks and wood left over from when our kitchen was done (not recomended). Still works well.

I bought a Morphy Richardson Pod last year but the tube broke off after 3 uses. After reading the reviews on this site I bought a Henry and I have not been disappointed. It is such value for money and great to use. It may not look as funky as the newer Hoovers but it does the job with a cheery smile. I cannot fault it.

After spending lots of money on a Dyson and then later realizing that I had to be a weightlifter to carry it up and down stairs, I bought a Henry, far better and cheaper. Since buying one I've noticed that most commercial cleaners use one, perhaps that says it all !
PS. It's was also interesting to see how many broken Dysons were dumped at my local tip

This little hoover is a gem, I bought the Numatic Henry after I had a lot of trouble with my last vacuum cleaner (Dyson) which finally gave up on me after 2 years. So I was wary about buying a new one, but after reading the excellent reviews on here I purchased a Henry with confidence and so far I can safely say I have been most impressed. The suction on this little beauty is brilliant, one of the features I like the most is the extra long flex it has, it is great for hoovering out the car at the garage, as before I always needed an extension and in my house its hard to find one as they often disappear when you need them, but this flex was well long enough for the job. My youngest child has also stopped running away and hiding when I am using it, as he likes the way Henry looks and isn't afraid anymore.

Numatic Henry
What a struggle I have had over the past 3 months trying to find my ideal vacuum cleaner!
Having been through 3 vacs in the past 5 years and spent a small fortune I found myself on the look out for something reliable, something with good suction, durability, and the biggie - easy to empty as I suffer from eczema and had to dig into my last bagless vac to clean the filter and etc. So I decided to opt for a bagged cylinder vac and after much digging into reviews and recommendations, I bought Henry.
My inital thought on this cleaner was that the price was a bit high for what it is, it doesn't have the go faster stripe or fancy filters it is just a basic cleaner, but I wasn't going t fork out an extra £60 or so on a bagless upright again (Henry cost me £93 with 5 free bags and a cute shopping bag).
I could see the quality of this cleaner as soon as I fitted the bag and filter, which took me all of 1 minute to do. The cleaner is basically a motor on top (his hat that lifts off) a large filter below and a bag which fits directly behind the hose. It all seems quite sturdy compared to what I used to have.
The cleaner also has a good long cable, and a really long stainless steel hose with good brush, the suction is 1200 watt and you can see it, my carpets were being slightly lifted which is a good sign to me! (my last cleaner was supposed to be 1500 watt but never seemed as powerfull).
I have used the cleaner twice a day for the past few weeks (dirty house due to toddler!) and have never had to use the other attachments as I found the normal brush head was getting right to the edges of my carpet within a milimetre or so. I have also checked the bag, it is half full - my old vac would have been spitting back at me by now and it only held 3 litres.
The Henry is also good for my bathroom and kitchen floors, gets under the table and units no problem and picks up the stickiest of crumbs -although I probably shouldn't use it for moist things!
Anyway I will wrap this up, its getting a bit long!
The Henry has been a good buy and I recommend it if you have allergies, I do and I haven't been bothered for a couple of weeks, could have been my house needed a good vac!
I am pretty confident I wont ever buy a fancy pants bagless upright with fancy filters again! I must have spent a fortune in belts!, Henry's bags cost around £4-5 for a pack of ten, but I could see that lasting a whole year, so it will be worth it, providing the cleaner lasts! (the bowling alley had a couple that lasted for 10 years).

Numatic Henry - My business is facility management in Amsterdam, and after I got to know my metal Numatic Cybervac for my own home use, we chose a Henry for one of our locations and now have several in service. With any vac it's seldom the housing that breaks, it's always details like switches, cables, clips, fittings or motor parts. Therefore (and because of lighter daily handling and since the motor is the same as in the metal models) this plastic Numatic machine was chosen instead of a metal one. We change the paper bags when only half full and regularly use two vacs to clean each other's cloth filter, which together helps to keep up suction performance through the years and prevents the motor from gradual overheating and shorter life. The cloth bag is a sensible addition and although it is an extra detail to clean now and then, it seriously enhances machine life! Washing a cloth vac filter, by the way, reduces its effectiveness, I've come to appraciate with a Nilfisk I once had. Beating it like a doormat is unhygienic (large clouds of dust), therefore just use another vac to clean it; it works perfectly!
Furthermore the Henry is agile and not as bulky as one would imagine, kit and cable winder perform as they should. The motor runs at enormously high RPM, just like a Hitachi vac motor does (is it also single stage? I don't know). Anyway, the noise level is low and the vacuum level is quite impressive. All three machines have been running for almost 3 hours per day, almost every day of the past three years. There has been no failure whatsoever, which is a reason to believe that for domestic use the reliability and longevity should be more than adequate. The smiley even pleases children in your home but can be removed if necessary. In our offices, we don't care as long as it works, although it's sometimes reason for a lark ("that's plain silly, look, even that thing smirks at you!"). Friendly greetings from Holland! We have had our Henry Vacuum Cleaner for 15 yrs.
I have never used a bag and still have the free bag that came with
him! He is totally reliable, and in his time has not only cleaned the house, but also the car (filled with hay), vacuumed up nails, glass, wood, etc. and to top it all, has vacuumed the stable every spring time. He is getting a new set of tools because I'm fed to the back teeth with the new
famous vacuum cleaner I just bought.

The Henry has lasted 15 years through 3 children,
several rolls down our stairsteps, and a dog that would bark and bite the motorized sweeper. The bag change is simple and easy and holds several liters of debris and it doesn't seems to lose any power until the bag is very full. Never failed us.

We have had our Numatic Henry for six flawless years. Prior to this I seem to recall having a new hoover every 2nd or 3rd year for some reason or other, they simply didn't last. I have not yet come across a superior hoover even amongst those costing nearly triple the price of the Numatic Henry. So you might have to change the bag ( 2 minutes tops for the Henry ) but even when the bag is full it is still sucking stronger than any bagless hoover I've come across. It only needs the addition of a powered brush head to become the only vacuum you'd ever need.

Numatic Henry has a 1200 watt motor which is positioned in his hat, stainless steel tube, long rewindable cable, an array of extra attachments can be purchased even a dog grooming kit. Can be used bagless or bags can be purchased at between 5.50 and 6.00 for 10. I would say he is virtually indestructable (not much to break) under normal wear and tare, infact I use one at work and I`m a commercial cleaner for a school. The one I have at home was under 18" of water a couple of months ago in a flood, washed disnfected and dried out over a couple of days and off he went not a spark or a splutter. PRICE around 99.00 comet/argos.
Be sure to position the cable at the back directly opposite the hose or it gets in the way.

I've already got a Henry the hoover and he has finally expired after 10 fun filled years, I will buy another one as they are excellent value for money and the review has confirmed my thoughts.

max....I can't understand why your excellent and truthful review attracted a disagreement. My late wife would have totally agreed with you....and lis too.
<br>Where I worked, the office cleaner would have no other - and neither would I. It's the best.

Our Henry vacuum cleaner is about to get its third motor. It's not the actual motor that has failed, but the integral electrical filter, which does not seem able to cope with the enormous starting current. It's a pity this weakness in the design lets down what is otherwise an excellent vacuum cleaner.
