The Sharp GX10 is a reasonably good phone for your average person. Although it looks very technically advanced, it is actually of the same standard as would be the Nokia 3210. It's no good for people that want good quality connections, good quality photos or a hard-wearing structure.

written by realsweetgirl on 07/01/2005

I've had my phone about two months, I didn't pay for it, it was a gift so I can't complain about the price although when they first came out I was disgusted. The phone itself is great, not too big, but not too small that you will lose it. As I mentioned the outer case scratches quite easily. The java games, ringtones and WAP are brilliant, and the storage is immense. Unfortunately I can't say the same for amount of SMS it holds... could of been better. The picture ID calling is great but only works if the numbers are stored to the phone, and it has a large capacity for many numbers. It has an easy to navigate menu system, but I struggled to find some of the things as I have been used to Nokias for so long and it was a sudden change. Before this phone I had the Nokia 7250i and I thought the camera on that was amazing. Well this beats it hands down, the camera, picture quality and reaction time on this phone is great. (on the Nokia it had a habit of storing a photo 2 secs later when the person had moved). Overall I think this phone is excellent and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

written by bughead on 29/12/2004

The Sharp GX10 is my first flip phone. Good quality games camera etc. Compared to some of todays newer phones this was faster and a lot more reliable. The only thing was that the pixels made the screen look slightly blocky but as I said it was one of the first of it's type. I'd definitely reccommend this to someone looking for a fairly low priced phone that will not let them down.

written by Bishop74 on 22/07/2004

With the exception of it's sleek design, compact features the Sharp GX10 has one major flaw and that is to do with the data cable and modem installation disk and this flaw really needs to be rectified. The problem is that with the new in thing being broadband you cannot get your modem installation disk to recognise that Broadband it is already installed and that your ISP is a Broadband network therefore GX10 does not run to it's full potential or do what it say's on the packet.

If it wasn't for the bad recpetion then this Sharp GX10 would be a good mobile phone. I know a few people with this model and they all say the same.

I think you are totally wrong. My reception is great and all of my friends agree, maybe it is just where you live, anyway, i think that saying you have bad reception, is no reason for giving it a 0/10.

“This phone is great in every way possible, ”

★★★★★

written by buttonz1000 on 24/10/2003

This phone is great in every way possible,

Colour Screen - 65,000 colours great for picture viewing and for gaming.

Poly Ringtones - 16 chords, not as good as some 40 chord phones, but it still is great.

Games - Three preset non java games, and one preset Java Game with downloadable ones via Vodafone Live! Fast and 3D

Stylsh - The keypad is very stylish and the outside is very futurised looking.

Camera - Cool and brilliant camera, resolution not too good.

Wap + MMS - MMS and wap are very fast and reliable, also very cheap, the gx10 uses GPRS therefore you can stay on for hours and only pay say 30p, depending on what you do.

Plus, can anyone tell me where i can get the plastic cover replaced, it is all scratched and looks ugly. (No one say "e-mail sharp," i have already tried.)

★★☆☆☆

written by Harry2k2 on 09/09/2003

Its hard to know where to start, ok well lets get the good points out of the way, loads of thought went into the camera and picture side of the Sharp GX10 Mobile Phone, its a pretty good picture too. Nice and colourful screen and games are fun when in your break at work or whatever BUT:
-The text messaging for those who like to be fast is dreadfully slow you could type and then look back and see youve missed out letters here and there and also when messaging you will ALWAYS press the 'hang up' button by mistake, therefore deleting the whole message and starting from the screensave.
-The ringer and vibration are so quiet and pathetic respectivley that you will miss nine out of ten calls, and the alarm which has to be one of your jingles will only wake you up if you're waiting to here it.
-The organiser is designed for people with no life in the way that 1) you can only set an alarm for TODAY 2) if you put some text in your calendar there is no alarm to go with it, therefore unless you check your calendar everyday you will need a real calendar.
-This problem might be unique to me, maybe i got the duff phone but so many times my messages wont send or my GPRS will fail, on many occasions messages have come through late and sometimes the phone crashes when trying to send/recieve pictures.
-Doesnt have speakerphone! How wrong!
-Very confusing speed dial and picture personalising for calls, you will have to make two copys of someones number in order to speeddial them.
I know how many hundred of good reviews there have been but quite frankly i think those people were paid but sharp to spread some hype about this waste of a pretty phone. Its dreadful and you will regret this, so STOP and buy a Nokia

I bought the Sharp GX10 mobile phone and at first it seemed cool but Vodafone is too expensive compared to other Networks. You can not change themes and you area always stuck on vodafone own.The menu was first difficult to use but in time get use to the strange order. Most disapointing feature is SMS which only stores 10. It looks good and has a goood colour display

written by BOB. on 22/08/2003

Having had the GX10 Since it first came out, I have seen loads of better camera and even video phones released since. I think it would suit the GX10's large colour screen better if it used an icon based menu like the GD87. The GX10 was the best phone when it first came out, but there have been much better ones since then. It was and still is a really good phone, but I think sharp brought the GX20 out at the right time.

The Sharp GX10 Mobile phone is superb, I couldn't decide between the Sharp Gx10i or the Samsung V200 , but i'm glad i went for this one, the price plan deals on line at vodafone are just to good to be true and should not be missed if you are considering a new contract.

★★★★☆

written by Scott. on 18/07/2003

When I first got my phone, I was impressed with its size and the way it looked. Finished in like a titanium grey, it does look the business. The screen is a good size and colors are strong. The camera is pretty good quality if, like me, you are only gonna be taking pictures of people larkin about. Don't expect digital camera quality but it does the job fine for general snaps. Having previously owned Nokia phones, the Sharps menu seems somewhat alien. Don't get me wrong, it is clear and easy to use but everything is in a strange place. Writing text messages was a nightmare compared to the Nokia's because the command/edit butons are completely different.
There are a lot of options with the phone. You can take a picture and then set it as your wallpaper on the phone. The smaller screen on the outside of the phone is neat, displaying time, date, battery status, text alert and who's calling but, as mentioned in another review, when you flip open the phone, you have to press a button to answer the call anyway.
There is no data cable included and it is £30 seperately to download your saved photo's (of which it can save 80 of them). I am still trying to find out what exactly I can transfer with the infa red. Someone let me know!!
In general, I am impressed with the Sharp. It could be improved by including a data cable and giving you details of a decent website with games/tones on. Your mates will be jealous as you will have one of the GTI phones on the block.

Written on: 20/07/2003

hello, sorry to say but, even if you get the data cable, you will not be able to down/up-load pictures to your pc, you can only use the infrared AND the data-cable for using it as a modem to connect your pc to the internet. Don't worry though, you can still e-mail your pics to your pc and download your own pics from the internet. What is good is that you can send a MMS with three pics to save money e-mailing them, do NOT buy the cable for picture transfer, and dont expect a-lot from infrared.

Does anyone have problems with the GPRS/Internet connection feature on this mobile phone? The way one can connect to the Internet is to easy, it’s the same button used for other features and often I have found that I have connected to the net accidentally. On many occasions I have no idea how long I have been connected. Vodafone have announced that they will be charging customers for connecting to Vodafone Live via GPRS. I feel that this is a design error by Sharp and just wondered if anyone else experienced the same problems. Vodafone have said to me that they have had no complaints so far, yet everyone I know that has this phone complains of the same problem.

written by giorgio. on 09/07/2003

I have my Vodafone Live! GX10 since February '03, the phone is good in attracting other people's attention on you. Its downloadable games collection gives hours of fun.
But the phone sucks when comes to organizer capabilities.
The calendar is poorer than poor (only 3 events per day, no reminder possible), the alarm clock is even worse (it can only be programmed 24 hours in advance, it cannot contain any notes so sometimes you don't remember why you set the alarm in the first place and the MOST ANNOYING fact is that it doesn't set off when the handset is off!!! it just gives you a message that you had an alarm only when you turn the handset on).
My previous Siemens phone had none of the cool features of GX10 but had an excellent calendar that let you organize your life...
After that I had to buy a palmtop...

Totally agree with you there. I got the GX10 in March and was happy with it because of the camera and it looks good, BUT the calendar and alarm functions are rubbish. Swapped it for the Sony Ericsson T610 and I am very happy!

Everything about this phone is great! The reciption is amazing and GPRS is sooooooooo cheap! It has a very stylish keypad and screen. Vodafone live is great but can be very unreliable when vodafone is updating it. The ringtones surprised me when i heard them at first and the graphics are great. The camera is good and takes amazing pictures compared to 3G phones. It is the first time in my life that i have not wanted to change the phone. I usually end up wanting another one. I would recommend this phone to anyone that loves attension!

I use Vodafone LIVE with this phone and have been told more URL sites will be available to visit.
I use email a fair bit and sometimes it is the only reason i come home, now i can party, check email and party again. So Cool.
There is so much you can do with this phone, the JAVA games are unreal, LOVE PACMAN.
It is true it is an addictive phone to use, my old phone is now a DOOR STOPPER, wedged under the DOOR.
Its a Shame you cant flip the Camera around and have a VIDEO Phone aswell. And I would have like to save money by being able to download pictures etc directly to my PC. You have to MMS them.
Gotta go now, I need to play with my GX10
