This my 3rd Peugeot 206 CC and they have all been the same...poor, should have none better, but always loved the look of the car. Had the car 6 weeks and the roof leaks on both sides, had the top off last weekend and now drivers side window has a gap as if the door is not shut!

written by hayley76543 on 12/04/2008

My Peugeot 206CC never feels stable, especially at high speed and around corners. Everything feels loose, gears interior plastics. Everything shakes when the roof is down. Handeling is rubbish, doesn't stick to the road. Nothing feels of very much quality for the price, in general it doesn't feel solid or well built like a honda or Toyota would. You might look good initially but when things start flying off as your "cruising" down the road it doesn't look so stylish.

I have owned this car for 2 years now and only 10,000 miles on the clock! - at 6,000 miles the clutch went, after a battle they agreed to replace free of charge, a further 4,000 miles - same thing - however, I have to pay £700 to have new clutch fitted and no courtesy car even. I have had 5 recalls - No courtesy car, customer services completely useless & unhelpful - would never buy again!

I have own my Peugeot 206cc allure for a year now, and what a load of rubbish, i must of got the worst of the bunch seriously! It is awful to drive, the ride is so bumpy and noisy, anybody who I take in my car that has not been in it before thinks its falling to pieces. Endless problems with my leaky roof, I have to leave towels in my seats when i leave it at night or at work eles I'll be sitting in a pool of water thats gatherd in my seat (not joking, its really that bad). I have approached Peugeot about this problem but they wanted £900 to sort it out, that is stupid i said, they made the shed of a car so it should be up to them to help put it right seen as its not my fault this problem has occured, since then I havent botherd going to them for anything and ive stuck with my towels.
To add to my list of problems, the bouncy exhaust has resulted in in snapping three times within a month of eachother all in differant areas and with every bump I feel its going to do it again.
With this car I just cannot relax, as much as I love the look of it deep down I know I have to let go but one thing I won't miss is having a wet chair!

Haha hilarious. I have a peugeot 206cc and it's exactly the same in terms of ride quality! sounds like the thing is going to fall apart. My friends call it the boneshaker and rip me because i'm a bloke and drive one. Time to sell i think. Unlucky with the roof problems, that i havent had any issues. Never buying a Peugeot again!!

My Peugeot 206 CC 1.6 is a nice car, good looking, fast and great on a nice day for cruising. It was really hard to get my system going in there, these cars are not built to play with and I had to make special boxes for my subs and to put my own speakers in, was a nightmare. There's no room in the back but oh well, it's a nice car!

I disagree with this review because... I also have a 206cc and have not had any problems with it at all. It is a fantastic little run-about and wouldn't change it for anything. Possibly Peugeot have now sorted out the electrical problems?

I only bought my Peugeot 206 CC 1. two weeks ago and I am enjoying it very much. Too early to comment on general reliability, but I do like the car very much. It certainly makes driving an hour to work every day more fun. So far I would recommend one to any body.

The Peugeot 206 is ok for 2 people, and for posing in but not very good otherwise. Too many noises, gear box hard to use sounds like my wheels are falling off back seats to small

Apart from the point mentioned above my Peugeot 206 is brilliant. Please anyone if you have felt the same feeling at bends or with the lightness of the steering at high speed let me know guys.

The sensation you experienced is refered to as Skuttle Shacke. It is caused by the chassis flexing due to the fact that you have no fixed roof holding the car rigid when the hood is down. You shouldn`t experience this with the roof up, as rigidity is restored.

written by SallyW on 24/02/2005

I love my Peugeot 206 1.6 Coupe Cabriolet, it drives well it looks smart and sexy, and it suits my personality. I love the fact that I have the security of a hardtop in the winter and a convertible in the summer. It takes 20 secs for the roof to go down and back up which is great. It has alloys, abs, cd and at well under £15k is good value for money when you compare to other similar cars. Yes after sales is not good and there have been problems with this model. However, all in all i've not had too much wrong with mine and have had it for 2 years 6 months and I still love it. However, not sure if I would buy another one only due to the fact that Peugeot are neither helpful or good at rectifying faults.

Your experience/concerns with Peugeot match mine. Superb designs, but the backup and willingess/ability to fix problems is a serious issue. My last Pug (a 306) had a silly, but persistent fault which took SEVENTEEN dealer visits to rectify.
<br>Nice review though - gives a good overall view of ownership.

I Love my Peugot 206 2.0 Coupe Cabriolet but can't understand why I needed a new exhaust after 1 year! Then Peugeot fitted the wrong one, but they did give me a free service worth £99 and a tank of petrol. My roof has jammed once and I had to have new air vents in the middle console as they broke in the first month. It rattles a lot with the roof up and I have had to take it back to Peugeot 3 times before they managed to fix the drivers door as it wasnt closing properly, now after two years of owning it Peugeot tell me that my alternator belt is fraying and my discs on the brakes have corroded and they recommend the Air con to be re-gased every two years. Totaling up to over £300...mmm.... but all in all when I have the roof down it still gives me that buzz of feeling like a sexy chick! I'd buy another convertible but not sure I'd by a Peugeot.

We bought the Peugeot 206 1.6 Coupe Cabriolet sports car brand new and there have been no problems at all, except who is driving this and who is driving the other car.
With the roof down, you can fit a standard thin suitcase in the boot, but you have to raise the roof to remove it.

I have only recently bought my Peugeot 206 Quicksilver. The car is very good on petrol and very easy to park. Although the car is small, you do feel that you are driving a larger car than you actually are. I love this little car and although it is not the fastest of the range, it does get you from A to B in safe and most agreeable manner as well as turning a few heads on the way. I would recommend this car for others. I am now hankering after the 307 CC.

Don't buy a Peugeot 206 1.6 Coupe Cabriolet, they look good but have too many defects and Peugeot are not interested. Nothing works properly, from windows, engine, brakes you name it, only thing that works properly is the roof (believe it or not) I can't wait to sell mine!

First and foremost your getting a great looking car at an affordable price with a lot of optional extras already built in. You get much better value for money from this model than the 2.0 litre version which is slightly over priced. On the down side, after time some owners may experience roof jamming problems which Peugeot have failed to overcome and repairs can be expensive, but overall reliabilty is generally sound.

“The 206cc is a great little car. I have spoken to...”

★★★★☆

written by JamesK. on 06/11/2002

The 206cc is a great little car. I have spoken to owners that have admitted to having problems with the car. Having recently purchased one myself I can say that major problems have not affected me although little minor ones have, such as a scratched dashboard panel and a defective windscreen. Overall, look past the little things, that peugeot Australia has been great in rectifying and the thrill of the drive is astounding. Having gone from a Celica My 2000 I can say that I enjoy this car far more than I enjoyed the Celica, mainly due to the fact that the handling is far superior and the low down torque is good, thus not needing to rev to 6000rpm in every gear.
