“STAY AWAY”

written by JoannaGibson211 on 04/10/2018

I rented a car from them from Enterprise in Turkey. At the booking time it asked for a deposit of 132EUR, which I paid. When I went to Turkey on the same day and time to pick up the car from the airport, Enterprise said that they did not recognize and honor the reservation and deposit and I had to pay the full price directly to them. I called them and they said, well the deposit is ours and still I had to pay the full price. So, I had to rent the car on the stop and paid the full rental fee to Enterprise Car Rental. When I got back, I called them and they said they do not deal with customer service issues over the phone and I had to send email. I sent emails with all documents and invoices, at the end they said I canceled the reservation and this is why I paid the full price, and the deposit is their fee under as a VAT tax but Turkey doesn't have VAT, plus I paid extra for the tax to Enterprise anyway.

“They asked me for things which were not incluyed on...”

written by nickles_714 on 13/05/2018

They asked me for things which were not incluyed on the contract. The worker was not professional. Due to the fact that they wanted to charge me more money and an incredible deposit held, I didn´t rent the car. However, they charged me for it anyway. Be careful with your money and don´t provide them any credit card.

“Bad no help”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Marcel1988 on 12/10/2017

Bad!!! Recently we hired a car through rentalcargroup.nl which eventually came to cartrawler.com. We have agreed on an amount of € 161.61. On arrival, 1500AED was reserved. We would get this back upon delivery of the car. Upon delivery we returned the car nicely without damage and a full tank as agreed. Upon arrival, we see that € 305.10 of our credit card is collected. We would like to know why we have to pay more than double for this car. We also had telephone contact  in which she advised not to know Sanam Rent a Car. Yet at Dubai Airport we picked up the car from Alamo with a form where Alamo and Sanam rent A car. Feel free to pick this up and return the amount back to our account as soon as possible. On the internet, I later saw several complaints about deceased by cartrawler.com. Ridiculous that you dare to take more money from people. As a result, our holiday has not succeeded at all.

“CANCELLATION FEES”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Azarian196 on 04/08/2017

I needed to extend my vehicle rental by one day. I was told that the only way to do this was to cancel the existing booking and re-book the entire rental. I was also told that from when I had booked, the rates had increased, in this case by Euro 20.43 / day, without the insurance.Rates do increase, but a 32% hike is outrageous, especially when the rates of some of their competitors, for the same vehicle, have remained the same. Being under the impression from the ( obviously visible ) information on their web site, that cancellations were "free", I cancelled the booking. I was then informed that there would be a 20% cancellation fee. On checking, they were within their rights to charge this cancellation fee, but it is the sneaky way they present the information which is not acceptable -in fact, it borders on underhanded & unprofessional. Not being in their interests to make it obvious, one has to look really hard on their web site to find this detail. Clearer, more obvious information during the booking process would have been appreciated.

“The worst experience renting a car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by feac80 on 16/07/2017

The terms and conditions were sent after the reservation was paid. So I didn't realize that if you don't want to pay the car insurance you need a credit card. When I picked the car up in the airport South of Tenerife (Gold car) I was asked to pay 105 eur for almost one week of car insurance + 25 eur of taxes for petrol , It was too much, and I couldn't pay that so I lost the 50 eur of the reservation.

“Terrible experience - Don't trust the package summary!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sheargold82 on 13/06/2017

We specially opted for this package and car because it stated at the time booking that the car company was situated in the airport and it included full insurance. After a frustrating time of around 45 minutes trying to locate the car rental company on arrival. We eventually had to trek to the other side of the airport to the domestic terminal with all our luggage where their desk was situated - this was not detailed anywhere on the paperwork. Despite being under the illusion that we had full insurance as part of our booking, the rental company would not release the car until they had secured 2800 TL from my partners credit card. The were insisting on him 'upgrading' his cover again at extra cost to which he initially refused until we could at least have an opportunity to try and contact customers services to find out what was going on - which was unsuccessful. Only having had the car 2 days one of the tyres blew up on the motorway, which we had to pay to have repaired! Luckily my partner is Turkish but none of the paperwork or documents on collection of the car were in English so I had no clue! I will never use this company again absolute rip off.

written by Laneyd1977 on 16/12/2016

This Company charged me 2706.11 rand for an 8 day rental in Johanessburg South Africa which they called a deposit. This amounted to about $200 and a two day car rental fee which in fact was not a deposit but was an exorbitant charge. The car rental company tried to get them to send it as a deposit but they refused. The normal fee should have been about $20 United States dollars. I will never use this Company again

“Beware the RIGHT CAR. Auckland Rental Car.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1955McMillan on 30/04/2016

Once I arrived the airport, I had called to the company. Right Car person in charge just picked up and told me that we need to call a Taxi to reach their office by our own. No chartter bus or whatever. Second is we fix to Mazda Primacy or Mitsubishi Grandis but they said that they only have Subaru old Legacy model to us that is 5 seat wagon car. The size is totally differnet to the agreement. Once, we had complained they they said that they do not have such a car for the day. Third is there is no full tank fuel even worse the car license plate had to be changed. We have to follow the staff to another aread and wait for collect the new plate to validating and use it. Car condition is not clean , old with mileage 15X,XXX , just wast of time for us. Even worse, we had returned the car around 10 O'Clock in the morning to thier office, then the office did not open yet!!! What a copany, I never expect to such kind of the sevice rental car do the business like this company. BEWARE TO THIS RENTAL CAR NAMED "RIGHT CAR" In my own opinion ; They did not supposed to be the good sevice for car rental business.

“Overcharged and unresolved”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/03/2016

Be careful, check billing. RentalCarGroup charged me a deposit+21% mystery charge despite Thrifty charging me the deposit as agreed in the car hire confirmation. As yet unresolved. As yet no reply to my emails. Thrifty took £700 deposit from me (I used my own excess damage insurance) they have not reimbursed this. as yet unresolved. as yet no reply to correspondence from RentalCarGroup or Thrifty. during the hire period I had to take the car for its technical inspection (MOT) yes I actually had to find out where i could do this and use a morning of my holiday. I had to drive around town to find a postal centre to pick up a tax document and finally I had a 4 hour round trip to the airport just to extend the hire period. I definitely would not recommend these guys. shambolic.

“hidden fees,leck of information,expansive,bad...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by guinevievre on 05/03/2016

After having reserved the car with a few options such as add driver and no-risk fees, you get a total price minus the deposit. This is-however-not the total price, for the next day they charge you with €91 for the assurance, without telling you about it! When you call the Dutch number of the customer service, you get some one who only speaks English, the line is very bad and they won't or can't(?)put you through to some one who speaks Dutch. Last but not least:they charge you 25% of you deposit if you cancel (witch I did)before 28 days of you rental period, no other rental company does that! This is not mentioned on the website but only in the general conditions witch are very difficult to find. So,you don't get well informed during you booking and it seems this is done deliberately, just to sell and make money.

“Terrible Service!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mcShepherd326 on 04/03/2016

They charged me 80$ over the price of the car giving me the same model becuse the flight arrived late than the hour on the reservation and was something that I couldn't controle.. also the insurance of the vehicule wasn't complete and it has deductible. They offer ilimited kms and then in the contract when I got there I couldn't get out of Florida. But the worst was the 80$ since the car rental was paid for the total amount in advance. So in my opinion the car should be parked there waiting for my use without any additional fee or charging only the parking for hour.

“hidden fees”

written by LewisFagan on 27/02/2016

No information about hidden fees! Daily charge of 7 euros not outlined in booking, the fee for out of hours pick up and drop off were different than outlined, the hours for out of office hours were different than outlined, the fee for additional insurance not the same as outlined, and the deposit amount was not outlined!!!! When I got to the counter I was slammed with hidden fees, and fees I knew about were different than what was outlined. Myself, my friends, and my family will never use this site.

“Want to know how to turn 4.75$ into 80$???”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/02/2016

Want to know how to turn 4.75$ into 80$??? Only in Dollar-Rent-A-Car this kind of magic can happen!! Listen to this crazy little story, about how Dollar-Rent-A-Car took advantage of two innocent honest tourists: We recently rented a car, at JFK airport from Dollar-Rent-A-Car. At the reception, we were asked by the clerk whether we wanted an "Easy-Pass". We specifically replied – NO! We did NOT want an Easy-Pass, because we preferred to pay all tolls with cash. The clerk clearly heard our answer, and crossed out the option of Easy-Pass. While driving around the roads, and going through toll-booths, we therefore paid cash every time we were required to do so. However, to our big surprise and confusion, there were some toll-booths that we approached (specifically – booths that said "CASH ONLY" or "CASH OR EASY PASS ONLY") – that the "GO" light immediately went on, as if it read an Easy pass in the car. We had no idea how that happened, and when we tried to insist to pay at those toll booths, they wouldn't let us, explaining that the toll has already been paid by Easy-Pass! Just to make sure – we checked the glove compartment, there we found an EMPTY E-Z-PASS box, so we assumed that we indeed do not have an Easy Pass in the car. It happened a few more times, that we tried to pay with cash, and they wouldn’t take our money, claiming the Easy Pass was on! Finally, at one toll-booth, when we yet again tried to insist on paying with cash, and the cashier there, again, said we had an Easy-Pass, he decided to PHYSICALLY come out and show us the device. Only then, about a week after renting the car, did we discover that the little white device stuck on the front window was an Easy Pass in action, and only then did we realize that despite our request NOT to have an Easy Pass – there was actually an active one in the car! Being foreigners, tourists from far away, we had no way to know about that little device, and nobody at the rental desk in JFK took the time or responsibility to explain. To our huge surprise and disappointment, we later received the bill from the rental company, with the ridiculous addition of 236.47$ for the use of Eazy-Pass!!! We checked further, and found that the Eazy-Pass was used in FIVE toll-booths only, summing into 4.75$ TOTAL!!! So we were actually charged 236.47$ for the stupid 4.75$ we MISTAKENLY used!!!! After endless complains, phone calls, emails etc. – Dollar-Rent-A-Car were willing to reduce the charge to 79.95$, claiming that was the "total rate of the toll plus a 15.00 administrative fee per toll". We tried time and again to stress the fact that we should not be paying ANY administrative fee, since it was THEIR fault in the first place! In addition, we explained time and again that we weren't trying to avoid paying at all! We just wanted to pay what we REALLY owed!! Which was the toll fee and nothing more!!! As you can understand from the beginning of this ridiculous story, we had no success. Dollar-Rent-A-Car took absolutely NO responsibility for their mistake, And the fact is, that they managed to take advantage of our being innocent tourists. THAT'S how you turn 4.75$ into 80$!!!!! Share. And beware.

“Terms and Conditions Unclear”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SashaLee329 on 18/01/2016

I recently used Rental Car Group to rent a car in Jamaica. What they don't make clear is that the 'balance to be paid at rental' is not the full amount as it excludes tax and insurance. Also the amount taken for the deposit is 'car rentals brokers fee' and is not included in the calculation by the actual car rental company. I was expecting to pay $550 at the point of collection and when I arrived to collect the car I was told it's $900!! So be careful. This excluded the $74 I had already paid as a deposit!!

Hi. I used this company and did not pay the full amount when I booked. Only once I was collecting the car did I pay for the rental. Once I returned the car and they inspected the car they tore up the docket for that 800 that was kept until I returned the car.

I have always paid "up front" at time of booking. Usually there are extras to pay at pick up such as fuel or extra driver. I always wait until a couple of days before traveling before paying as some of the charges are non refundable.

I usually google them to see how close they are to where I am. However I use online travel companies or apps to find the best deal so I am putting faith in theses companies to ensure they have verified these guys. I have hired a number of cars in many countries and I haven't had a bad experience yet. One also has your travel insurance to fall back on if things don't work out.

I have been using RCG for 8 years on trips to the USA. Put simply it's a brokerage for the major rental car companies. You will end up picking up your car from a major brand comany's outlet at a much lower cost. I was also dubious at the start but spoke to a guy on their help line who happened to be in Spain. He explained they had been in business for years so I went ahead thinking if it went bad I caould always get a refund from my CC comapny. Hope this helps
