“DONT SIGN UP TO TESCO”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/02/2013

Tesco Mobile appears cheap but you get what you pay for. My family made the mistake of having 4 phones with them and now we cannot get out of a poor service provider contract. Coverage is awful, technical help is OK but their support services are useless. On 3 occasions we were restricted because they had failed to register direct debits. You would think they might care about a multiple customer user but when I tried to upgrade a phone (bear in mind how cheap the handsets are to them!), they said they would not let me have a better phone and pay more until then end of the contract....or I could pay £240. I pointed out that they only pay £50 for the handset in question but basically they said "tough" I cannot get out of pay monthly for a long time. Make sure you know what you are getting into before you sign up. This is why we are falling ot of love with Tesco genrally. They are too big to care now.

“Tesco better than Virgin?”

★★★★☆

written by davidjayo on 30/01/2013

I was very upset with Virgin Mobile after a dispute I was on £10.50 monthly contract for 18 months with free 100 minutes and unlimited texts and blackberry, I went with Tesco mobile pay as you go and could not be happier on average and with my phone usage (low) i estimate Tesco mobile value wise lasts 3-4 times longer for a £10 top up compared with Virgin contract, not only this but if you have children Tesco allow you to cap the amount your child uses, which could be VERY costly.

“Very content with service”

★★★★☆

written by Philkane on 14/10/2012

I own my own iphone so have a SIM only contract which I believe is excellent value. As it uses the O2 network I get very good coverage. In the past I have been on Orange, Virgin and Three and they ranged from not bad to appalling. My wife is currently running down an O2 contract which wasn't such good value and will change to Tesco. This will give us extra 'family perks'which can be minutes, texts or data. Any time I have dealt with their customer service team they have been very helpful and UK based.

“been with tesco 2 years”

★☆☆☆☆

written by markgsj on 04/10/2012

i have been with tesco for two years and all is well until my phone had a fault through no fault of my own (some software issues apparently) they quoted me £140 to repair this fault even though the phone was still under warranty so they sent the phone back to me unrepaired as i was not willing to pay i then took my phone to the apple store and they took a long look at it and replaced it there and then they said there is no reason why it shouldn't of been replaced it was under warranty and was clearly through no fault of my own. note to all reading if you can take it somewhere else 1st do so it will save you alot of time and money.

“Appalling Service Support”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rooted on 28/06/2012

I have lost home reception on my mobile, which according to the O2 website is due to a mast fault in my area. It has been down now for 4/5 days. I have tried to establish with Tesco Customer Care, whether the problem is being addressed and when it is likely to be sorted out. All to no avail. Responses have included:' It is sorted but you will have to wait for 24 hours for it to update????? '- nonsense at best - a lie at worst! 'We don't know! '- I am paraphrasing, but why don't they? This is not the first time that this has happened. I am paying for a 'service' that I am not getting. I will certainly be changing to a proper mobile service and would recommend anybody considering Tesco mobile to do the same!

“Disgusting”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stryner on 26/05/2012

Well, were do I start I have a HTC Sensation phone which as stop working. Firstly I sent the phone to HTC itself as i thought that is what was expected. Anyway they sent it back saying it was repaired but it wasn't, still wouldnt switch on ! I then contacted Tesco Mobile who sent a jiffy bag to send it back for repair. Again this was sent back still not working with a letter saying .. We are pleased to say we have repaired the fault, I rung and told Tesco that it still didnt work they have asked me to send it back again ! Well as you can imagine it came back with same letter and still not working, I wonder if the Engineers actually look at the phone.??? So another phone call is made at premium rate they have told me to send it back again !!! I said it is not being repaired and need a new phone as it makes life difficult not having one plus still paying for the phone contract at £25 per month. I was told it needs to come back three times before they can move to the next stage, even though it was sent three times including going to HTC !! So this will be the 4TH time sending this phone , it as been at least a month since I have had a phone also they have told that they will see what they can do if they dont "repair the fault" this time, skirting round my " will i get a new phone this time?"question. This company is terrible and i just hope people will read this review before entering into a contract with .. TESCO MOBILE

“Very good customer service”

★★★★☆

written by on 29/03/2012

My Tesco mobile phone went on the blink just under a year into a 2 year contract. I phoned the help line & had my call answered pretty quickly, by a friendly & helpful employee. They listened sympathetically & professionally to my description of the problem & posted prepaid packaging to me in which I was to return my phone for repair. Within less than a week it had been fixed & safely returned to me. Much better than a previous experience with "fones 4 u"; I'll be sticking with Tesco from now on. Oh, & they give you O2's coverage but at much more reasonable prices.

“Watch out for billing cycle fiasco.”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 17/03/2012

Have a tesco sim only set up with minutes, text and data. Joined on 7th feb paid for one months tariff. But because of billing cycle which happens on the 15th or 16th of feb two weeks before you are billed the next month on the 1st or 2nd. They have billed me for another months tariff 8 days later and said sorry thats the way we roll but you can roll any unused data or minutes etc over to the next month. What a joke. And the roll over minutes etc are not showing on my account. So if you are planning on joining tesco mobile do it on the 15th or 16th of the month to get in line with there billing system or expect to be billed twice in the first month and have your minutes rolled over which you are unlikely to use.

“The best mobile network in the UK”

★★★★★

written by pcwiz11 on 28/12/2011

I've been with Tesco Mobile for almost 2 years now and I'm very satisfied. The Pay as you Go with free credit offer is great if you use your phone lots as you get triple credit every time you top up. This credit can be used on UK calls and texts or GPRS internet. The downside to this tarriff is you have to use the free credit within 1 month and the rates are quite expensive at 25p/minute, 10p/text and 60p/MB. Alternatively you can choose the Pay as you go Lite tarriff which has much lower rates at 8p/minute, 4p/text and 60p/MB. The downside to this tarriff is that you don't get free credit but it's ideal id you don't use your phone much. Tesco also offer a wide variety of great value pay monthly tarriffs starting from £7.50 a month. Some even come with free smartphones. Tesco Mobile uses coverage from O2 which is great and I get signal just about everywhere I've tried. Overall I highly recommend Tesco Mobile and think it's probably the best mobile network in the UK!

“Want a cheap no frills network? Tesco Mobile is your...”

★★★★☆

written by Chad_Bronson on 20/08/2011

I first jumped onto Tesco mobile on a rolling contract deal of 500 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £10 a month - A deal which, as it is on a rolling SIM, can be cancelled if you give them one month's prior notice. Tesco Mobile, actually using the same network as 02 (So if you've hated 02 coverage, you're going to deplore Tesco's own) is a very good network, offering excellent value for money with superb reception. I've yet to flaw this network, and their e-billing system is actually very simple to use.

“Early days but so far, so great”

★★★★★

written by growmore on 25/07/2011

I was an 02 customer for a while and was delighted with their service (the only one of many that gave us a good signal at home). So I was nervous about Tesco mobile but as they use the 02 network, I decided to go for it. While they took around 5 days to get me the sim (sim only contract), everything else has gone very smoothly. I activiated easily and managed to get my existing number transferred within 24 hours. I used the call centre (and believe that I probably got charged for this service), however everything went smoothly. Reception is fine, and the package at 500 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb of data for only £10 per month is the best I could find, particularly given the 02 link. I have only been a customer since the 15th July, but early signs are very encouraging.

“I have been with Tesco Mobile for only a few days now...”

★★☆☆☆

written by bestmi52 on 23/04/2011

I have been with Tesco Mobile for only a few days now and the problems have started already. called customer services several times now to be "Blagged" by an automated system that hangs up when it wants to choices you don't get that far most of the time.. and all this "S**T" service for 20 pence a call.
so I Emailed them hope that works. (And I Thought o2 was bad).
any way i purchased an Nokia C3-00 from them on Tesco PAYG. GREAT PHONE SHAME ABOUT THE NETWORK
And on account I don't think much about them already I am Leaving.
so can the above phone be unlocked to all networks ...as we all know some of Tesco's phones can not be unlocked..without getting a unlocking code from the network provider .. I know o2 are bad but not as bad as these lot so i am going back to them
