written by Mandycauser on 14/02/2024

Absolutely dreadful , I have sent endless emails complaining about the state of my car having 4 bald tyres a broken locking wheel nut etc etc and have also spoken with someone on the phone , I have had no response at all so have not been happy to continue paying the finance taking that the car has cost me so much in repairs until someone had communicated with me ! All I have had is an email to say they’re going to come and take my car away and I will have to continue paying them ?? This has really affected my mental health very badly

“AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NathalieCoffey on 12/07/2022

16 Months into my complaint with Moneybarn they still fall short off what was requested via the Financial Ombudsman. Moneybarn have no customer vaules what so ever after a long process with complaints the car was deemed faulty at point off sale therefore the ask was to return the Goods. Moneybarn agreed to reject the vehicle not that they had much choice but in term when the vehicle was collected they sent there agents around to my home at 06:30AM and progressd to filming me very rude and unprofessional. The collection company also did not inform me they were coming this company is an absolute mess. The new finance I have with advantage finance show what customer service levels should be like. AVOID AVOID AVOID Moneybarn still report adverse information to my credit file that was asked to be removed but again after 12 Emails it still remains in state.

“DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Deanb123 on 27/06/2022

Disgusting customer service! Had issues from day one - bought a Range Rover Sport, had a re constructed engine which wasn't disclosed before purchase. Moneybarn closed my complaint 4 times in 4 months - the complaints team was incompetent, the lady was arrogant. They got a report conducted by a Company called ACE 4 weeks after purchase and the report claimed 'in their professional opinion' the issue wasn't their at the point of sale. Once the engine completely broke Moneybarn decided to sell the vehicle back to the dealer 4hrs away from my address with all my belongings inside, the lady who works for Moneybarn had the audacity to say they had no obligation to return my belongings. I had to take them to a small claims court, the judge laughed them out of court because they had no defence, they dragged everything out, agreed to mediation initially and didn't turn up, I'm still waiting for the money the court awarded because they take their time with everything they do. I have no idea how they are still a Company if I'm honest, my dog is more efficient than this company!!

written by LanaCardenas on 07/06/2022

17 Months into my complaint Moneybarn were asked By the Financial Ombudsman service to reject my vehicle and make arrangements to collect the Vehicle and return additional funds to myself and or remove any adverse credit information from my credit profile.  It has been 1 month since Moneybarn agreed to the Financial Ombudsmans findings. Further to this i have called into Moneybarn every other day and have been promised a call back within 48 Hours i have never been in receipt off a call back.  The Financial Ombudsman asked Moneybarn to get this complaint resolved within 4 weeks off receipt that Moneybarn agree to the findings.  I have not heard anything back and have been calling as a matter off urgency as i will soon be going away for 3 Months I'm sure somthing your agree would be beneficial to get the car back before i head away.  This matter needs to be resolved ASAP Moneybarn have not met there customer vaules on this occasion and have caused me and my Family no end off stress.

“MONEYBARN LOAN SHARKS HEALTH WARNING”

★☆☆☆☆

written by QueenieLady on 05/05/2022

Moneybarn (owned by the FTSE 250 doorstep lender Provident Financial) is one of those money lending sharks that should have been closed down years ago, they would rather you kill yourself than give you a payment holiday due to serious bereavement and and the financial implications this has. They are an inhumane company with no ethics nor morals, and do not care about the real world, nor real people, they have one goal, to prey on people that are vulnerable to extort as much money as they can from you and your life means nothing to them, they own you, and will try and ruin your life for the long term, this is a company that will give you nightmares and sleepless nights, but don’t bother sharing this with them as they 100% don’t care, it’s a case of your money or your life quite literally, it really is that simple for them! This they make blatantly obvious when you find yourself having short term financial difficulties, and even with light at the end of the tunnel, they are not interested, they treat you like some low life dosser that deserves to die if you need just a reasonable payment break due to unforeseen circumstances, circumstances that are provable by legal and medical means and backed up with evidence of the unforeseen short term circumstance and evening knowing that they still pursue you like a mischief of sewer rats. They then resort to threats on the phone, just so you know they own you, just when you think they can’t sink any lower, they do! Moneybarn don’t just prey on people in poverty but even professional people who have circumstances happen to them beyond their control. It seems the more legal professionals I speak with, the more I find out what a disgusting and unprofessional reputation this company has, the words totally unreasonable and unapproachable have been said many a time. DO NOT believe any of the positive reviews as they are totally fake as no one would praise a company that makes them pay double of what you actually loan from them, YES DOUBLE!!! Their interest rates are absolutely disgusting and I thought companies like this had been abolished for our protection, sadly not, and I dread to think how many people have taken their own lives due to Moneybarn, and the diabolical way they treat people, absolutely despicable and however desperate you are for money, DO NOT have anything to do with Moneybarn or Car Finance 247, they would rather you suffer than be professionally reasonable of people’s circumstances. I would liken them to a pack rabid dogs who will pick over the bones of your dead body until there is nothing left of you to sell. I can only hope that what they put out into the world and do to people will come back on them three fold! My opinion is also backed up by Moneybarn being fined £33 million by the courts of law concerning the disgusting way they treat people: “Moneybarn to pay £33m in fines and compensation”, have a read of that for yourself!

Disgusting finance company beware if you have a foreign name you will be declined. If you have an English name you will be accepted. I had to wait 28 days to get a declined answer. I know my credit rating is good but they wouldn't give me a reason for the decline they wouldn't return my calls or emails they are a Disgusting finance company I spoke to other people and have been told they have had the same problem with so called money barn.they should be ashamed of themselves.beware this company will mess you around if you have a foreign name .hope the go bust in the future. I went to another finance company who was brilliant they completed everything within 48 hours with no problems.

“AVOUD AVOUD AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hannahd96 on 26/08/2021

At first I thought they were amazing, that’s only because I went through a broker. The second I went directly to them, that’s when everything went to (now allowed to say word). Started a complaint to put the Range Rover back because there was issues with the diff, electrical issues and one of the rear brake disks were sticking on, had it checked over by a reputable garage, had a written report done by said garage, 4 weeks after opening the complaint I ended up in a car accident in the car. Going forward about 8-10 weeks after opening the complaint and having an accident, the car being sat outside for a month obviously not driven due to it being written off, they come back with “there was no signs of issues with the brakes” with attached photos of them being ORANGE WITH RUST!?!?! Of course you’re not going to see the evidence of the rear discs having being excessively hot. I might be a female but I’ve been in about cars since I was able to walk. I’m not a dumb ass. So, off to trading standards and financial ombudsman we go! I won’t stop until this company is destroyed like they’ve done to my mental state!!

Can't go as low as zero stars, unfortunately, Never apply Car finance with them, I do share my experience with you then you will release what will happen if you get car finance with them,I borrowed £5500 for 5 years 34.9% and I managed to pay it off completely in 6 months, but they are trying to charge me £2037 interest only for 6 months, I spoke with them more than 7-8 times during 2 months couldn’t get anywhere, They confirmed me yes this is the correct amount and you need to pay £2137 interest. if you would like to have the same experience as I had you are more than welcome to apply with them.I am going to get them to the court.

“Stay away from them at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Salisbury393 on 30/10/2018

They will ruin your credit, I used them to buy a car which i could no longer afford due to losing my job on their advise i returned the car back to them to be sold and i agreed to pay back the outstanding debt on a manageable payment plan. i have been paying this consistently for 3 years only to find that they have put a default notice on my credit file for non payment for the last 3 years which has completely ruined my credit.. to the point i cannot even find somewhere to live. They punish you even though you make an agreement with them and stick to it. they have confirmed whether i continue to make the agreed reduce payment on not they will not update my credit file until the full balance is paid which is thousands. They are more than happy to see honest people who are trying their best homeless because no one would rent to them because of a bad credit file

“Stay well clear ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wqCrockett414 on 27/09/2018

Stay well clear of this company they tell you stories about being accepted for credit they even got me to sign the agreement then when you pay your deposit on your vehicle they then decide that you need to give them extra documents then decide to say your no longer accepted so you end up massively out of pocket even though I’m an exsisiting customer with a previous vehicle so if that’s how they treat there exsisting customers.Even the advisor said I was totally in the right and it wasn’t on what they did. They prey on desperate people that have had problems in the past but take it from a exsisting customer after this experience stay clear there’s other company’s out there that will treat you fairly.

“Woeful, frustrating and appalling customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DNewbs on 13/11/2017

Bought a car through Moneybarn HP finance. Loan APR was very high but I knew that, and looked to get it down. Bank offered me a loan with far less interest so part paid Moneybarn and then looked to pay off rest when I could. This has been so painful trying to get an early settlement figure.., Not only are you sometimes on hold for 30 minutes or more, but when you do get through it’s excuses and lies about finance dept are dealing with it and they will call back. Three different people have done this so it’s not a one off. It’s been a week now without a figure, and my monthly payment is now due. If I don’t pay I’m liable to be charged but if I do then it’s money I don’t want to pay and it confuses things -I just want to clear the account. If I could go back and tell myself not to go with this company I would. To not have to deal with this company again truly I would be bliss.

Sam_Moneybarn's Response to DNewbs's Review

I'm sorry about the level of service you've experienced. We can normally provide an Early Settlement Figure over the phone straight away or turn around a request for an ESF made by email within a couple of days at the most. However, we have been experiencing high call and email volumes recently so our service levels have been impacted. We're working hard to repair the situation so we can turn requests around more quickly.

If you still need your figure, I recommend you call us in the first instance. You can reach our Customer Services Team between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm Friday or 9am-12.30pm on Saturday. Or you can email us and request a call back at a date and time that suits you (within the hours detailed above).
Kind regards, Sam @ Moneybarn

“Woeful response to requests for a settlement figure”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hyundaitucson on 09/10/2017

I thought the easy bit when I came to think about changing cars would be obtaining the settlement figure on my current loan .. how wrong I am. Despite my first email on 30th Sept and a letter on 4th Oct and more emails over the last few days I have still to hear anything from them. When changing cars and discussing a deal about a new one you need to have the figures within that day or the next at the longest as the vehicle you are thinking of buying could have gone to someone else and you miss out on it. Moneybarn needs to get a grip of this side of their customer service ... its an easy thing to work out ... there is even a few websites you can go on and enter your loan details, repayments etc and it gives you the figure ... but it seems beyond Moneybarn to do this within a couple of weeks never mind a couple of days.

We're proud of our reputation, and take complaints about our service and process very seriously. Above all, it's really important to us that we're fair, reasonable and respectful whenever we deal with customers, particularly if they're experiencing financial difficulties.

It’s clear you feel we’ve failed to live up to these aims, so I am very sorry about that. We would like the opportunity to discuss the situation in more detail so we can find out what's gone wrong, and ideally agree a positive way forward and help you get the best outcome if we can.

If you want to do that, please call our Customer Services Team. We're available 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm Friday and 9am-12.30pm on Saturday. Kind regards, Sam @ Moneybarn

I'm thinking of paying a lump sum of £5k off my money barn car loan. I had a settlement figure or about £11k in October 2014 with another 3 years to go. I currently pay about £380 per month and wanted to know a) would this incur penalties? b) would the term still be the same with lower payments?

I contacted them myself with a similar query and asked 24m into a 48m how much it would be to do so. Was told considerably lower and when final settlement was offered had a discount of around £300, which to be honest i was half expecting. My theory of paying off in half the time was so all of the 24m remaining interest would be take off but this wasnt the case. Would imagine if u pay the £5k you can still pay £380 just less payments. They are very reluctant to give you money off once u put pen to paper thats it with these guys..
