I had a terrible car accident, and all I was given from Churchill Car Insurance was pure attitude from their customer services. I received no information or communication for months on end. They have left a bad taste in my mouth. For years they have taken money from me, but when I had to make one claim they didn't want to know. My accident was in the middle of last year and I'm still waiting for my cheque!

“I have received a terrible service from Churchill car...”

I have received a terrible service from Churchill car insurance.

In the 14 weeks since the accident they have not sent me ANY correspondence (including failure to send a claim form, and failure to acknowledge my previous complaint dated 17/2/06).

I have reported my change of address to them on no less than 37 occasions; in writing and by phone, but my records are still to be updated.

It took six weeks to arrange the repair to my car as they were unable to send authorisation to my nominated garage (despite the fact that they authorised them to do a different repair about 12 months previously).

They received confirmation from the third party that they accepted liability on 10th March 2006, but they did not notify me.

I had to pay the excess of £200 for the repair of my car on 24th March, despite the fact that the third party had admitted liability two weeks previously.

I am yet to be reimbursed the £200 excess some five and a half weeks after liability was accepted by the third party.

“I have found another mistake on my Car Insurance...”

I have found another mistake on my Car Insurance Policy which makes my car insurance cheaper than it should be. It also means that for the past year my children have been driving around uninsured. This is the third occurence of a mistake on my insurance policies with Churchills (3).
Wrong excess charge
Wrong Reg No
Wrong type of car
Is this a deliberate ploy to keep up individual telesales. When qeeried with Churchills they blame the customer for not reading the fine print (old story). Have always been with Churchills but never again. Very poor customer services/customer loyalty.

I was involved in a bad car smash that wasn't my fault. My car was taken away and I had whiplash as a result of the accident. I got no courtesy car from Churchill car insurance, and I was told to hire a car by Churchill! I had no money to pay for a hire car, so that wasn't an option, and Churchill wouldn't help.

Customer service, before my "accident", was good, but after the "accident" I was treated terribly. They would forget to contact other departments, and somehow, details of my injuries kept "disappearing" from their computers.

I have had a bad experience, and like everyone else, I hoped that my insurance company would take care of me when an accident occurred that I wasn't to blame for. Not the case here. I can't wait for my policy to expire so that I can find another insurer who actually delivers good customer service, instead of probably spending policy holders money plastering towns and cities with oversize billboards and posters advertising their company.

“In December 2005, my car was broken into and the...”

In December 2005, my car was broken into and the steering column torn to pieces.
I had to leave the car overnight for the Scene of Crime Officer to turn up the next day to fingerprint the car.

When I telephoned to inform the company about my break in, I was told someone would arrive that day to take my car away as I couldn't secure it, but nobody came. By 12pm the next afternoon there was still no sign of anyone.

I rang up Churchill car insurance who told me I needed to telephone the garage to find out when they would come. I did, but I don't think I should have had to do this!

They told me that they couldn't collect it until 3 days later.

I rang Churchill up again, and they sent out Green Flag. They turned up within 30 minutes.

I was supposed to get a courtesy car, but I never did.

This was my first encounter with insurance companies as I am a new driver. I had no problems with Churchill until I needed their assistance.

“Churchill car insurance must be the very worst at...”

Churchill car insurance must be the very worst at customer service and respecting the customer. Having had my car stolen, they proceeded to remove the car and store it, send me back the old tax disc, and then the DVLA wrote to me fining me for not SORN the vehicle. Churchill said it was not their responsibility as they are not the owners of the car. Having written to the DVLA and explained the circumstances, the DVLA dropped the fine. You would think that if the car is in Churchill's own car pound, and having my log book and all other documents relating to the car, that they would be responsible enough to deal with that, especially as it would be at no cost to them.

The claim handler was also very abrupt, and always trying to wriggle out of having to do anything, or having to pay out for anything to do with the car. So far this claim is now nearly a year old, and I am still no nearer to completion. Simply a bad choice if you need to make a claim. They are far from good value in terms of service.

“What incredibly disappointing service from Churchill...”

What incredibly disappointing service from Churchill Car Insurance . Our car was stolen in Feb 05 it is now nearly Christmas 05 and our claim still hasn't been settled. In fact our car only went in to be fixed 2 days ago. I let loose at the Customer service staff who had lied about authorising the repairs 5 TIMES and eventually the staff member said they had no facility at the call centre to call customers back and that they expect customers to phone back and wait the 20-55 minute wait to get through. Even the garage who are doing the repairs say anyone who's insured with Churchill end up with a nightmare situation when it comes to a claim.

Churchill are in my top 3 when I'm ready for renewal, the other two being the AA and Direct Line. Who offers the cheapest quote varies from year to year.

I haven't had to make a claim yet so I can only comment on the sales side which has been good in my experience.

You just wait until you have to make a claim with them, then you will change your opinion.

<br>The staff at Churchill Insurance do not appear to have a single brain cell that they are able to rub between them.

<br>My claim/complaint has been on-going since July 2005 and as yet it still remains un-resolved.
<br>
<br>As mentioned in other reviews/comments they seem in-capable of calling you back or replying to letters and do not seem at all interested when it comes to doing something that you are supposed to be paying them to do.

<br>Of course they are going to be polite and friendly when it comes to selling you the insurance, what sort of business would they be if they upset or annoyed you during the sales call, resulting in you taking your business elsewhere??
<br>
<br>One last thing, I don't know if anyone else has had the same issue but with 2 seperate claims we have dealt with 2 seperate garages that have been used to fix our car - on both occasions the job was not satisfactorily completed. I think Churchill seriously need to re-consider the garages they contract to do their work.

I have recieved extremely bad treatment from Churchill Insurance and would not ever tell any body to take out a policy of any nature with Churchill. They have lied constantly over the telephone and in there correspondence to me. Their Managing Director unfortunately runs a very bad house.

I had a accident which was not by fault and Churchill took a long time to tell me that the repairs were not covered and that they were in there opinion wear and tear. The Garage to me that Churchill engineer came twice to inspect the car and both times he did not examine the car but made up his mind that it was wear and tear.

The treatment we recieved from Churchill has been terrible. Our car caught fire and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere with a tourer and was told because our car was a total loss we would not get a courtesy car!!!! Two weeks on the tourer is still out there and we are having to hire a car and Churchill haven't sent an engineer to even look at the car. They have said it could take at least a month. All documents were sent the following day by recorded delivery. But still no response from them. Make your own mind up if you want to insure with this company. We will not again.

Churchill's state in all advertisements they save you money. Not true I have made several phone calls and sent several letters at my own expense. To date they have not returned phone calls or replied to letters. In the letters I have only asked for an update on an 8 month old claim. I have also asked in a letter what is the complaints procedure and still await reply. I have used Churchill for many years but after this fiasco I will not use them anymore.

I put a claim in during May 2005. The third party have accepted responsibility but Churchill have,to date, failed to settle what is a straightforward claim. I sent several letters with no acknowledgments,and made phone calls. When I did eventually get a letter its contents were incorrect as confirmed by the person I spoke to at Churchill over the phone.

After just renewing my car insurance with churchill I have to say i'm delighted with the quality of service I got. the operator who answered my call was very efficient, understanding, knowlegable and very helpful indeed

my documents arrived 2 days later, everythig was so straight forward, oh and they quited the best price i've ever seen my insurance, nearly £400 cheaper!!

I have got a top of the range sports family estate saloon car (hatchback) which as you can imagine is not too cheap to insure. Churchill Insurance company provided me with the lowest quote, which is the usual reason for swapping companies. You can even get a further reduction if you appy online. However I have found their customer service representatives to be very friendly. The real turning point for me was the fact that I was sent, along with my insurance policy, a complementory tax disc holder which I was in dire need of at the time. Also I don't know if they had a surplus of afore mentioned tax disc holders but upon renewing my policy for another year I was sent another one. Now I have a spare tax disc holder which I could realistically need at any time.

I was with Direct Line before I moved to Churchill. It;s been four continous years now that I am with them. We have insured both our cars with them, it's my habit to check and phone around for the best deals. I have doen that for the last three years and every year I had to come back to Churchill as there no no one who could match their quote for price and service. Unfortunately I had to make two claims because of accidents in the last three years, and I was surprised as to how thoughtful and helpful they were in sorting my case, specially when the other party was refusing to accept liability, they made me feel so comfortable. Hats off to their reliable and trustworthy service. I think I will stick with them for life - or as long as I drive.

My car insurance was with AXA and renewal time came up again. Usually I never bother to get other quotes (too lazy) but this year the renewal cost was £360 for me at 57 years old and member of Inst of Adv Motorists. It was up from £340 from last year. Anyway, I called Churchill, and got a straightforward quote, repeated 3 times to make sure it matched my existing,and it did as near as made no difference my AXA quote.Churchill quoted..... £226. Ok so the excesses are £5 more here and the same there but at £130+ it is still a saving. Staff were efficient and friendly so I took the quote there and then. All clearly printed paperwork arrived next day!

I had to make a claim with Churchill when my car was stolen. My car was found at 5.45am on a Sunday morning. The insurers had it collected within 45 mins. Within three days I was paid in full for my car. I never had a moments trouble with this company. They were absolutely wonderful throughout the whole ordeal.

Well I've been insuring cars for 37 years! Spent many years with the Pru. then was attracted by Direct Line and had two vehicles with them. I then switched a vehicle to Eagle Star for a year. Next year Churchill could undercut Eagle Star and have been with them since (still have my other car and my son's car - Churchill won't insure 18 year olds) with Direct Line. Swiped my next door neighbours car with the back end of my caravan three years ago - towing with my Churchill Insured 4x4 (I have a Direct Line insured 4x4 too! but saw no reason to do any 'fiddling'). Anyway, Churchill did not make a big deal of this, they paid out to my neighbour's insurance company without quibble and my premium with them only went up £100 the year after, which ain't bad considering the amount of damage the old caravan did to my neighbour's car! Churchill? Yes, I rate them highly. Unlike some other companies they offer a loan car too in with the policy (are you listening Direct Line?)

I (who am actually female) honestly never had any trouble. None at all. I wouldn't still be with them seven years later if I had. I don't even question changing insurers. They were excellent when I needed them. Honest!
