“Still waiting for a response from simpsons after 3 weeks”

★★☆☆☆

written by vpFry458 on 26/09/2015

After a very poor holiday to casa Theodora in Corsica and speaking with Simpsons travel, I am still waiting for a response from the customer services department. I spoke to them the first week I returned to the UK and some 3 weeks later still zero response after I was informed that the matter would be discussed with the customer services Director. I would not recommend this travel company to friends or associates, they have demonstrated a very poor attitude to a customer with a genuine complaint after over selling a property which fell far short from the description. Simpsons travel have not demonstarted to me in anyway that they have taken my complaint seriousely, the very least I would have expected is an update. They have much learn about customer service.

“not interested in holiday feedback”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Exxxxie on 23/09/2015

I can only agree with the comments from the other low starred reviewers. we had a problem on holiday re a strong, unidentified chemical smell in the annexe bedroom building of the villa. we spoke to the rep at length and as the source of the smell remained unclear, we would not use the room. we were not willing to take any health risks, espec as my daughter suffers from eczema and has anaphalaxysis, so highly sensitive. A report was written to the boss by the rep regarding the situation. on our return we were not contacted for feedback, just received am automated holiday questionnaire. then we initiated e mail correspondence with Simpsons who were dismissive and disinterested in our opinion or point of view on the issue . having read the report there are areas of it we disagree with entirely. we felt we were not given any interest or credence. would never use again. very insulted to be offered a hamper when we requested a portion of the accommodation price back to cover the cost of a bedroom that was unusable in our opinion.

“Great Company”

★★★★★

written by GreekTraveller1 on 05/08/2014

I would like to thank Simpsons Travel for both a very good holiday and also for helping out so much with my lost luggage (laptop). The villa and the holiday rep were of the highest standard and everything ran like clockwork. On travelling back I managed to leave my laptop on the boat and Simpson's dealt with everything and it was returned within 1 week. The communicated through and called me daily with an update. This service was more than expected and as such I would use Simpson's travel again.

“Not worth £5500.00”

★★☆☆☆

written by Forsythkx295 on 29/07/2014

We book last minute with simpson executive travel angi estate jasmine villa in corfu. Looked great in the photos. When we got there we where meet by the simpson agent who pointed us in the direction of the simpson car rentals and told me to phone her when we reached the villa, so she could tell the cleaner to open the gates. Our rental car was terrible and the central locking didn't work. When we arrived at the villa we received a welcome pack, which was great. On seeing the villa I was disappointed how small it was only a two seater sofa to sit on. The pool area was lovely and the view amazing. The tv in the living area had only one channel working and the two tvs in the bedroom didn't work .. I text the rep. And told her she replied . "Have you checked as I had them fixed I rang the estate manger who confirms they are working " ... They weren't ! I told her we could only get sky news and the other tvs didn't work .. I had no further reply from her and never seen her the whole week... This was a disappointing villa for the amount of money we paid ... Not impressed with service

We booked with them on 2 occasions, to Corsica and Turkey. Once the rental car was filthy and we asked them to change it, which they did at the airport. I think that if I were not happy with the villa and paid what you paid, I would have insisted on them offering me alternative accommodation. Our experiences with Simpsons Travel has been very accommodating agents. I would ask to speak to the boss about your experience now you are back!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback in reference to your recent holiday at The Agni Estate Jasmine in Corfu. Please accept my sincerest apologies for your experience as it is clear that on this occasion we have failed to meet the standards we set ourselves as a company.

At Simpson Travel we pride ourselves on the use of quality, reputable car hire agents. I am sorry that your vehicle did not reflect these standards. This is something that I personally will be looking into with our supplier on the island.

Furthermore, I would like to apologise for the issues you encountered with the TV in the property. We will ensure that this matter is not repeated and that all technical appliances within the property are fully functioning.

If you would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Once again, thank you for your feedback and I hope we have the opportunity to restore your faith in Simpson Travel in the near future.

“Beautiful Corsican holiday”

★★★★★

written by RichS75 on 18/01/2014

Simpson Travel were excellent in organising my holiday to Corsica. The flight from Heathrow with BA is at a good time in the morning and very convenient. We were met at the airport by the very friendly and helpful representatives, who directed us to the car hire desk where we picked up our car for the short drive to our villa. The villa was amazing, in a beautiful rural setting with the sound of the birds and braying donkeys to keep you company and the neighbouring villas were far enough away to give a sense of privacy. The villa had everything you could have needed, fantastic pool with views over the countryside and was very modern with all the comforts of home. We chose to eat in several nights using the BBQ, as well as venturing out to the local restaurants for delicious Corsican meals. The beaches in the south west corner of Corsica were more than we could have imagined, we travelled out of the main summer season so they were very quiet, but we were lucky with the weather and it was warm enough to lie on the beach and swim in the sea. I would suggest visiting the towns of Bonifacio and Porto Vechio which have so much to see and the location of Bonifacio on the cliff edge will have you gazing in amazement. It was our first visit to Corsica and I would definitely return.

“Unwilling to accept genuine negative feedback”

★★☆☆☆

written by InthelandoftheBard on 01/01/2014

We had travelled to Crete with Simpson in 2012 and were very impressed with the accommodation, reps, etc and hence didn't think twice about booking with them for a holiday in Corsica in 2013. Sadly our experience on the second trip was not so good. We stayed in two rental properties. One was beautiful but unfortunately it turned out to lie directly under the flightpath into the airport. As the weekend approached the number of planes increased enormously and on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday there was the constant buzz of planes arriving, some large jets, but mostly small private jets. These were no no more than a couple of hundred feet above our heads. We had a lovely pool but as we had to drive to a beach to find peace we might as well have not had the pool. The other property had clearly seen better days but had been very carefully photographed (or maybe they were very old) to hide a kitchen that was falling apart and a ancient and filthy dralon armchair that no-one in their right mind would want to sit on. The pictures in the brochure of the pool and terrace on that property bore no relation to the reality of an untended, scruffy area in need of maintenance - the furniture shown didn't even exist. Neither property had been properly cleaned and checked - there were still old coffee grounds in the machine (both houses) and in one mould was growing on a colander from old food waste still on it whilst the other had an oven tray that was caked in grease and had clearly not been cleaned in aeons (yuk!). The reps did sort out some issues with missing or broken items, although one of them did so with a pretty poor attitude. A few days after we arrived home I received an email asking me to complete a questionnaire (this is standard practice with Simpsons). I gave my honest feedback on the good and the bad. A few days later I received another email following up the points I had made and seeking to rebut them. It was quite obvious that they thought we were trying to get compensation for the problems we had experienced - we hadn't even thought of this and had simply chalked it up to experience. What really irritated me was that having asked for our opinions, they weren't really interested. In my view if a business asks for feedback then they have to be prepared for both positive and negative comments and act upon them, otherwise why bother. I was so incensed by the response that I fired off another email. This is the last paragraph from that email: "I was merely disappointed with our holiday originally but the tone of your response and the casual dismissal of the issues has actually made me angry. I note your offer of a discount, however that would not influence our decision whether to re-book even if the offer had not been so limited in scope. The issue for us is one of trustworthiness, in particular whether the photos and descriptions on your website properly reflect the style & quality of the accommodation on offer. We might have considered another holiday with Simpsons had the response to our reasonable comments been a simple apology or straightforward acknowledgement of the issues. Instead we received a mealy-mouthed defence with a tawdry attempt to blame the customer and to deny or ignore legitimate complaints. The website constantly refers to 'luxury' villas: I am still trying to equate the word 'luxury' with furnishings which included a kitchen on its last legs and a sitting room with a grubby brown dralon armchair (La Vigna Maggiore) and being directly underneath a flightpath (La Vigne). Clearly we have differing takes on the meaning of luxury." The next email from Simpsons did at least produce a somewhat grudging apology and suggested that in relation to the aircraft noise issue they would amend the property description and ensure that anyone booking was made aware - apparently we should have been told during the booking process but weren't. I cannot comment on whether the issue is now highlighted during booking, but six months later the website description hasn't changed. The pity is that the mis-handled response to our feedback in the questionnaire they asked us to complete has put us off travelling with Simpson in future. There is no point asking for comments if you only want to hear good things and if you are going to ignore or dismiss the negatives.

Simpsontravel's Response to InthelandoftheBard's Review

Written on: 31/01/2014

It is very important to us for our guests to share their experiences with us. As mentioned we ask for feedback from everyone returning from their holiday, so that we know which aspects are working well and where we need to improve. We apologise our initial response caused some offence and when there are short comings we do accept responsibility. I would like to reassure this reviewer that their comments were taken seriously at the time and apologise this was not conveyed in a more appropriate manner.

It is very disappointing that the reviewer has been discouraged from travelling with us again in the future, however, if they changed their mind I am confident they would have a much more positive experience. Nevertheless, I wish them all the best in their travels.

If my comments had been taken seriously I would have expected that the property descriptions would have been amended so that other clients could make an informed decision. There is still no reference to the aircraft noise issue at the first property, and the photos of the other are exactly the same as before - including pictures of the pool area complete with furniture that isn't there!

We have just had an excellent holiday with Simpson but I do note your remarks on head office. I telephoned to ask a simple question as to what was available in the welcome pack in order not to duplicate purchases and was greeted with a sarcastic, dismissive observation from someone who obviously was of the opinion I had crawled out from under a stone. I am also now wary from your review that standard are not consistent across properties and service by reps. really useful

Written on: 19/08/2014

That's awful. How hard can it be to answer a simple question? You would like to think that they had a sort of standard-ish pack with variations according to country. It is actually quite appalling that, after having spent a no doubt reasonable sum of money with them, they should just dismiss you. Ultimately all those pesky holidaymakers are paying the wages of these 'customer service' people. I do though know exactly what you mean about being treated as if you had crawled out from under a stone. The email I received from Simpsons following the questionnaire made me feel exactly the same. I really resented (and still do) the strong implication that we were whingers out for compensation - something which genuinely hadn't even occurred to us - because we had the audacity to fill in THEIR questionnaire, which we didn't ask for, honestly. It was that attitude that put me off travelling with Simpsons in future.

The inconsistency is property standards is a real concern. Our first holiday with Simpsons was in a really lovely villa in Crete. We thought it was an excellent holiday, brilliant rep and so we expected similar standards when we went to Corsica. One of the villas did match up to expectations in one sense but was blighted by aircraft noise - if we had been told about this, as apparently we should have been, we would not have chosen to stay there.

The other villa was in need of a refurb. There were so many niggles with that property that indicated maintenance wasn't high on the owner's agenda. We were even told by the rep that the 'cleaner' was an old family retainer/friend and the owner wouldn't use someone else even though there had been complaints before! I am sure it is of benefit for Simpsons to offer accommodation that they know but they need to ensure that the standards are maintained and if the property isn't up to scratch it should be thrown off the programme. Loyalty to the owners of the properties they sell in their packages is all well and good but they need to keep the paying customer at the front of their mind!

As for the reps, the one we had in Crete with Simpsons was excellent, one of the Corsica reps was nice and was helpful. The other (in the villa with the maintenance issues e.g. one of the kitchen cupboard doors hanging off, a filthy old armchair, unkempt pool area full of old dead leaves, patio door lock broken so it couldn't be secured, etc.) just had a bad attitude. I don't think she could believe that we weren't leaping around for joy and no doubt had us down as demanding because we might want to lock all the doors when we were out! We are not by nature 'complainers' and this was the first time we had ever raised issues with a rep in more than thirty years of extensive travelling.

From the response we had from head office after answering the questionnaire that THEY sent to US, I doubt anything was done because they seemed to share this 'everything must be fine because we're Simpsons' attitude. There is still no reference to aircraft noise on the one property and no change to the photos of the other. That says it all to me.

If you are going to pay the premium that a tour operator gets for organising a holiday, in my view the least you can expect is that they can identify high quality properties commensurate with the price being paid, keep an eye on them to ensure standards don't slip and listen to their customers (without attitude) when they have legitimate complaints. If they can't do that, and can't ensure their staff are civil to people asking perfectly reasonable questions, then they don't deserve our business.

Ironically we went back this year to a simply stunning property which we found on a holiday lettings website - we were dealing with the owner, who was going to be staying in the property after us, and who happily answered all our questions. The place was immaculate.

“Probably the worst holiday we have had!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LAC.36 on 19/12/2013

We have travelled for many years with a superb travel company who this year gave up their portfolio. I spent a long time trawling the internet to look for a match to the superb service that for over six years we had received from them. We are not rich, but we save hard for quality holidays. I chose Simpson Travel based on their great website, and being a Watford girl a feeling of camaraderie to the MD's blog. After lengthy e-mails, we agreed on a 2 week 2 location holiday to Turkey. One week at the Golden Key on the Bozburun peninsula and one week at the Dalyan River Suites. I had made it clear that cleanliness was key over anything. The reception at the airport was superb and the car hire was fantastic. Sadly that was the highlight. The Golden Key accommodation was filthy and poor to say the least. I have reviewed this on Trip Advisor, what I believe was a balanced review. The Dalyan was also far below expectations, however the saving grace was the owners desire to please and to try and make your holiday special. Again the review is on Trip Advisor. I am not here to review the property, only to review the agent. Working in education I spend much time teaching young people about the investment in good customer service. Sadly Simpsons seem to have a strange idea of how to cope and help customers whose holidays have not gone well. Inevitably every travel agent will have dissatisfied customers. Having e-mailed Simpsons whilst on holiday regarding the issues we had faced and having informed the area rep that we wished to complain to the UK, we received nothing from Simpsons other than an e-mail saying our comments had been forwarded and someone would be in contact. On our return and with no response we contacted them again, and still nothing. Indeed it was only when I posted a review on Tripadvisor that they responded, not to me but on Tripadvisor! We were absolutely astounded. I was then promised a response after I sent a shirty e-mail threatening to publish my photos. This was from the MD who in fairnes to him seemed genuine, but informed me his son would respond (in charge of the Turkey portfolio). Sadly the son was in Turkey supposedly following up my complaint, which took about 3 weeks! When he did respond, his suggestion was that we had not been truthful and that we could never agree on what had happened! Apparently our evidence and endless photos were not enough! Indeed I may as well have had a signed confession from the hotel, it would have made no difference. I guess they have so many satisfied customers that they do not need to listen to those who are upset. I might add, to give you some perspective of how bad this holiday was, that on our "private transfer" back to the airport, our driver took us on a little trip to pick up a mate, who proceeded to sit next to our daughter and look down her top. Simpsons told us there was no evidence to support this allegation!! Really?!!! Apart from four of us in the taxi and a taxi driver who does not want to tell the truth! Was I supposed to film this? Beyond shocking! So I guess my point is this....... All the great reviews are fine, but to me what makes a company is how they respond when things go wrong. We all hope our holidays will go well. Sadly, if it goes wrong, then with Simpsons........please expect nothing. Actually after a lot of threats they gave us £400 back off a £4500 holiday (originally £250), but I didn't want their money. I wanted an apology and for them to show us how they can get it right, I wanted them to show us how they really do it. Not free, but with a small discount for the bad experience. Simpsons are not interested in righting wrongs and sadly that attitude eventually will catch up with them. We will never travel nor recommend them and they need to address their customer service! Either way shame on you Simpsons.

Simpsontravel's Response to LAC.36's Review

Written on: 31/01/2014

I was very sorry that this reviewer remains disappointed with their experiences with Simpson Travel. We had been in contact regarding their holiday during their stay and once they returned, on several occasions.

It is our priority to make sure guests enjoy their holiday and if there is a problem our local teams will do their best to assist and settle any issues. It was our understanding that both hotels responded and resolved the issues the reviewer raised during their holiday. We take customer feedback seriously and the head of our Turkey portfolio investigated the comments made by this reviewer whilst in the country with the hotels and transfer company. It was not suggested that the reviewer was not being truthful and we apologise if this was the impression given.

The comments about the private transfer that the reviewer mentions was not something that we were initially aware of and once we were, was taken very seriously. We took action, investigating and speaking with the transfer company personally.

In our communications with this reviewer we conveyed our apologies and it was not our intention to leave matters unresolved. We believed a satisfactory resolution had been met.

“Fabulous once holiday, once again”

written by Adams27 on 26/10/2013

Once again, Simpsons Travel have proved to be a highly reliable, friendly and super efficient travel company, with the personal touch. They really know how to provide a professional service, and genuinely seem to care about the customer; a factor that is missing so much these days from many businesses. All the planning stages of the holiday were organised by Simpsons in an efficient and informative manner. The sales consultants know their properties inside out, and were able to advise us very well on the villa facilities and the area's 'must-see' sights. We were travelling with a young baby for the first time, so were grateful of the reassurance and peace of mind this gave us. Once in resort, our holiday was fantastic as the accommodation was just as on the website and described by the staff, the welcome pack was excellent and the representative visited us at the villa the very next day with a range of useful maps and insider information. Every step of the holiday was faultless; once we arrived home after excellent flights, we were sent an email asking how our holiday was, etc... We've already reserved the same property for next year and this time will be taking my parents, who already have been impressed by the very helpful Simpsons Travel sales consultant. We used Simpsons Travel last year for our honeymoon, too, which was also superb - we simply cannot recommend them highly enough; you can literally sit back and relax both in the run-up to the holiday, and once you are actually there, as any eventuality will be dealt with quickly and with minimal fuss.

“Unprofessional, Unethical and Uninterested”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Montalto on 23/10/2013

In September 2013 my wife and I went on holiday to a villa called “Gizli Ev” in Akyaka, Turkey, arranged by Simpson Travel. The photos of the mountain villa looked fantastic on their website (easily found online) as did the flattering testimonials (shrewdly selected, as we later discovered) and we paid around £1850 for the one week holiday. Unfortunately, we arrived at the villa to discover that the private pool and surrounding area were constantly covered by at least a hundred buzzing wasps and 1” long hornets. Swimming was impossible and sunbathing around the pool was a very unpleasant experience. We brought the matter up with our rep on the first morning, who although sympathetic, suggested that they were not aggressive. Unfortunately, half an hour after she left, my wife was stung on the face while reading a book by the pool. She was clearly distressed by the incident, and it left us no option but to spend our day at the local beach – enduring the ludicrous situation of paying for beach facilities instead of using those that we’d already paid for at the villa. As if this wasn’t bad enough, on the third evening we discovered a scorpion about 3 feet from us whilst we were having a drink on the porch. We were then were alarmed to discover not one, but two further scorpions in the bedroom. Clearly, this was not the “relaxing” or “stress free” holiday that we’d been lead to believe. We were unable to use the pool or pool area facilities because of the constant swarms of wasps, and now we were unable to relax in our own bedroom for fear of stepping on a scorpion in the dark. This left us with no real option but to vacate the villa and check into a nearby hotel. We were contacted by our rep, who was very understanding and disappointed for us. She told us that she’d spoken to “Matthew Simpson” about the issue and that she was sure he’d be contacting us upon our return. We told her that we weren’t the type of people who wanted to make a fuss – despite spending an additional £600 on accommodation, etc - but we’d look forward to Matthew Simpson’s comments upon our return. However, whilst queuing in Dalaman Airport for the homeward journey, we randomly struck up a conversation with another couple who’d stayed at another villa in Turkey. When we told them the name of the villa we’d stayed in, they immediately said “Did you have the problems with the wasps?”. It transpired that they had stayed in the villa a couple of years earlier and encountered exactly the same problems (they claimed that they’d subsequently made a formal complaint to Simpson Travel and were financially reimbursed). They also told us that they’d met another couple on this holiday who had previously stayed at Gizli Ev with exactly the same issue, and who again made a complaint. This was, to say the least, extremely troubling to my wife and I. The wasp issue was clearly not a new one, and it would appear that Simpson Travel had received a number of similar complaints about the villa. However, despite this, no mention of it was made on their website, not once was it mentioned to us by any of their staff, and nor did we see a warning in any of the literature that they sent us. My wife was stung on the face on the first morning and we dread to think what would have happened had my wife been allergic to wasp stings – as many people are. The route to town was on unlit and unmade dirt tracks and there was no hospital in Akyaka - we were told that there was a doctor in one of the hotels, but not which one. Upon our return, we naturally expected a communication from Simpson Travel, as we’d been assured. After a few days of silence, we received a jolly email asking us to complete one of their questionnaires – which I found very irritating. I decided to write to Simpson Travel myself, and make a formal complaint. The villa that they ‘sold’ us was clearly unfit for purpose - which they presumably knew about - and they hadn’t even bothered to contact us afterward to apologise. My first two emails to Simpson Travel didn’t appear to do anything, although a third email did prompt a telephone call from them. He was full of apology for not contacting us upon our return – blaming something about one of his staff getting married? Anyway, he promised to look into it fully and to get back to me with an explanation within “a week or 10 days at the most”. We didn’t hear another word until about 2 weeks later, when received an envelope in the post from Simpson Travel containing a cheque for £200 and a plain compliment slip. No attached letter of apology. No accompanying personal phone call with an explanation. Just a blunt cheque. My wife was furious and felt completely insulted that nobody from Simpson Travel could even be bothered to write a letter or make a call. I felt that for a family company that supposedly priding itself on providing a personal service, they would not see how utterly disrespectful and unprofessional it was to handle a complaint by simply throwing a cheque at somebody? I’d only actually asked for an explanation - if I’d have asked for a refund I would’ve asked for a darn sight more than £200 for a ruined holiday that ended up costing us about £2500. I decided that to bank the cheque (which I considered blood money) would simply vindicate the cold and uncaring way in which they handled our complaint. So I returned the cheque – along with their compliment slip and even their envelope – along with a letter from me relaying how disgusted I was with the way they promoted the holiday and handled our subsequent complaint (and at the time of writing, 2 weeks later, they’ve clearly decided to leave it at that). I’m writing this review, with a clear conscience, to let other potential customers of Simpson Travel or Gizli Ev know about our experiences and the potential hazard of the travel company and the villa. In my opinion, Simpson Travel has been derelict in its Care of Duty for not warning its customers of the recurring wasp problem at the villa. Not once was it mentioned to us. If one of their customers – including my wife - suffered from Anaphylactic Shock from wasp stings, then the consequences would be unthinkable and I’m astounded that they seem oblivious to it? In this respect, I feel an obligation to make this information public and so I write this review. My wife and I travel a lot, but on this occasion my choice of travel company and villa was well below the quality that we are accustomed to. All of what I’ve said above can be supported by emails to Simpson Travel, along with photos and videos of the issues raised. Rob Montalto October 2013

Lac.36's Response to Montalto's Review

Written on: 14/12/2013

I am so pleased and relieved to read this review, we were treated exactly the same in August 2013. We were astounded by how appallingly he responded. Indeed he was happy to post a response to my review on trip advisor before he had even responded to our e-mails and letter of complaint. I feel more confident now to post my review of this dreadful travel agent. I guess the point is not what they do well when it all runs smoothly, but the manner in which they respond when things go wrong.
Thanks Rob

I think your point regarding how a company treats customers when something goes wrong very important. What does appear is a negative consistency and reluctance on the part of Simpson to deal with valid issues. It certainly has made me wary of booking with them again.

“superb service from beginning to a reluctant end.”

I am loathe to over praise Ikatha as a holiday resort as I wish to keep it to myself. It is unspoiled by commercialism and has a rustic charm of its own. This was supplemented by the excellent service offered by Simpson even when we had to leave the island early because of severe weather forecast for our due date of departure. Simpson arranged an alternative overnight hotel accommodation (which was excellent) plus funds for an evening meal at a local restaurant. In all a really great holiday with a great company.

“Paxos Perfection from Simpsons.”

★★★★★

written by sandrasteward on 18/10/2013

You can be assured that when you have a Simpson holiday you will get exactly what is promised. They have a high standard and deliver it. We wanted an attractive, peaceful and beautiful place to spend two weeks and found it at Joanna's House in Paxos. The views were breathtaking and we spent many evenings enjoying a barbeque on the patio as the sun set. The infinity pool was a good size for swimming and the garden had a number of different places to sit either in the sun or the shade. It was quiet. The roads were not busy so driving around the island was easy. The harbour villages of Gaois, Lakka and Loggos each had their own character and we enjoyed eating and shopping in all of them. Probably because we went in October when the holiday season was coming to an end the shopkeepers had time to stop and talk and we were made to feel welcome and to learn something of their way of life. It was good to know that there were representatives on the island to help if needed. The three reps were all very good as was the maid service for the villa and pool cleaner. Very important for my husband was a good WiFi connection. This we had. Our journeys between the UK and Paxos ran smoothly with flights, hydrofoil, taxi's and car hire all arranged and running smoothly. We felt well catered for so thank you very much to all at Simpsons.

“Fantastic customer service”

★★★★★

written by on 16/10/2013

We found Simpson Travel after a Google search for "luxury villas in Kalkan, Turkey". A great company to travel with. Fantastic customer service. We made our booking with a real person - no extra costs to have a knowledgeable and friendly person to speak to. Travel documents were easy to download. The villa we booked was wonderful and our local rep really knew the area and recommended great beaches and local wines ;-) We don't usually bother to complete the end of holiday survey but on this occasion we felt it worth while and received an email response thanking us for our comments. Our only gripe was the flight home with Monarch but Simpson Travel had no control over that but thanked us for our comments. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Simpson Travel and hope to use them again next time we book at villa holiday.

“Little regard for legitimate complaints”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 05/10/2013

I used Simpson for the second time, but unfortunately have come away unlikely to use them again and all down to their failure to even acknowledge a problem. The villa itself was great (Ca'n Sion in Mallorca) The location great. The flights and hire car great. The owner great. We would have rather the local rep hadnt visited us and joined us at the breakfast table, but that was no big issue. However, the beds were appalling. 1 star hotel / bad hostel appalling. So much so that out of two young couples, none of us slept properly the whole weeklong holiday. I was left in agony with a bad back for a week - I am only 30. Some people would have legitimately ended their holiday. We didn't, but instead raised it at the end. To date, after spending time completing a detailed survey and also sending a follow up email to say that I was surprised that after such a serious complaint that I had not been contacted, I have heard nothing from Simpson at all. Not even an acknowledgement that I have taken the time to contact them at all. We had originally said, that we would return to the villa again if Simpson could give assurances that the mattresses had been changed. Now, not only will we not return, but are unlikely to use Simpson again at all. This is extremely poor show for a 'luxury' travel company and to my mind shows a total lack of care.

“Fantastic, yet again.”

written by Fizzyfish22 on 30/09/2013

We have traveled many times with Simpson Travel and have never been disappointed. Everyone from the booking staff, airport transport/hire car people and reps on site have been very professional and personable. The villas have all been lovely with great welcome packs and good information, although a local map would have been helpful. I always struggle with lighting in the kitchen, never very good, just the Greek way, I guess! Cleanliness is always perfect. Thank you all for another great holiday, looking forward to 2014.

“Simpson's and Mediteran Hotel did a fantastic job”

★★★★★

written by on 22/08/2013

Simpson's Travel and the Mediteran Hotel combined to give us a fantastic holiday. We had been told by a friend that the Mediteran was the best hotel they'd ever been to, but were still surprised and impressed by the rooms in our suite (sitting room with kitchenette, wet room and bedroom), the added touches (tea and coffee in the room, a lovely welcome meal, the tea and cake around the pool at 5pm every day) and the friendly personal service from the staff of both organisations. We spent quiet mornings at the Indigo Beach Club, then moved up to the pool to carry on relaxing in the afternoon. Having the kitchenette meant that we were able to make our own lunches and control the amount of food we were eating as meals out have very generous portions. Kalkan is a lovely friendly town, where people invite you into their shops but don't hassle you if you want to go elsewhere. In the evening, the town is vibrant with shoppers and restaurant-goers, but very civilised. The shuttle service from the hotel runs 5 times a day, which is plenty, and sometimes Mehmet, the driver, does two runs if there's a high demand. We ate very well when we chose to eat at the Mediteran restaurant and also when we chose to eat in town. We went on four trips, three with Brave Tours (the company which Simpsons use for airport transfers) and one on the Yildiz evening boat trip. All were amazing experiences, and were very well organised and good value for money. Overall a brilliant holiday and hotel. We hope to go back in the future.

“Monona suite,Fiskardo,Kefalonia.”

★★★★★

written by Andycheets on 20/08/2013

From the moment we arrived we were in another world. The timeless room and balcony have been furnished in a traditional Greek style that befits the mood of the holiday. We hardly left the terrace only to eat and fish nearby. The town is a 10 minute walk away and when we had our fill it was a pleasure to return to the sanctuary of the terrace area. We watched dozens of boats and yachts moor up and missed several celebs in town due to our early bedtime, sad i know. A fantastic place and out of the dozens of package holidays we have done this was the best. The rep was like my mum and most detailed and helpful as my wife had food allergies making restaurant choices difficult. Greta was also very good at the airport. All in all excellent service Simpson.

“30th Wedding Anniversay Holiday!! Why did we wait so...”

★★★★★

written by mercol on 13/08/2013

After long deliberations about where to spend our 2013 hols we decided on Kefalonia. Partly for its history and partly for its climate. We then had to decide on travel companies and found that our criteria for a great holiday were independance(within reason), good food, close to bars and restaurants and beaches, but also peaceful; washing machine!!! We dont hire cars on holiday as my husband drives a lot for his job so didnt want this included in the package and therefore needed to be walking distance to all amenities. Simpsons holidays came up time after time on internet searches and after discussions with helpful and informed sales staff over the telephone and email we came up trumps. The holiday was more expensive than we usually budget for so our 30th wedding anniversary was a good excuse and it was worth every penny!!! I shall start saving now for next year!!! Thea cottage is a perfect Greek cottage, with a beautiful bedroom and comfortable small sitting room. I must mention the bed linen which is fantastic and I am trying to source some for home!!! The kitchen is large and has all the essentials if you wish to bake or cook and the bathroom is spacious and houses the washing machine. The terrace to the front of the cottage has the most stunning views over the bay and is wonderfully shady for most of the day, if you want to catch the rays there is a small area at the back of the cottage which I found too hot but my husband loved. A small road runs in front of Thea cottage and a stroll down some steps leads you to a small rocky bathing area which is great for an early morning or late evening dip, floating in front of one of the many super yachts that anchor in the bay. Simpsons local rep was brilliant and has a wealth of local knowledge re the history of Fiskardo and the local characters. She also left us a super welcome basket of all the essentials that you need on a self catering holiday. She cleaned twice a week and Adonis, lovely helpful chap, the cottage owner lives next door so is at hand if you need anything. The beaches are pebbly or rocky so a 'must have' are 'jelly, or 'swim' shoes which can be bought locally for approx. 6-8euros and beach mats which are also inexpensive. Foki beach is about a 10 min walk from Thea cottage or Emplisy beach is about 35min walk. We managed 2 walks but there are many more and if you holiday when it is a little cooler you will be spoilt for choice. The bars and restauraunts in Fiskardo are a short 10-15min stroll away and would suit all budgets and are all very reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful, our personal favourite was 'Tassia' but only by a small margin as all of the restaurants were great. We understand that Tassia is a Greek celebrity chef and she is on hand to take all of the orders. My favourite things: Apart from the rep!! Thea cottage and its privacy but also its people/super yacht watching location. The cats - which are everywhere but are soon shooed away if you are not a fan. Hubbys favourtie things: Binoculars!!! Part of the inventory at Thea cottage and the Greek people who are so friendly and helpful. If there has to be a downside or and improvement that may be made:- it would be nice to have bicycles at the cottage to use or be able to hire them locally. Not to cycle far - the roads are hilly but so lovely and quiet.
