My questions pre purchase of the item (an old Leitz projector) were answered promptly and in a friendly way. Once ordered the item arrived two days later, well packaged and if anything better than described. Swapped a couple of chatty emails with the guys at Ffordes meanwhile even though they made the sale already. The price incidentally I thought very fair indeed. There was nothing about the whole experience I didn't like

Emailed Ffordes to get some advice about SD card for a camera I’d been given. Very prompt and helpful reply. I asked about a suitable camera bag and was sent a link on best sellers. Good prices and reassured by Ffordes the one I was interested in would be a good fit for my camera. Ordered it Tuesday and it arrived the next day. The bag is excellent and ticks all the boxes. After reading various reviews I had made my mind up to buy a particular binocular made by Hawke Optics. Having scoured the internet for this now end of line binocular I had found one store with a price that was significantly cheaper than others.For some reason, before committing, I remembered Ffordes Photographic a site I had looked at in the past for binoculars. To my surprise the binoculars I wanted were £30 cheaper (including P&P) than the previous best price! Despite the current Covid 19 situation and the fact that Ffordes are running with greatly reduced staff I managed to have the binoculars delivered in 2 days. Excellent communication from point of enquiry to next day delivery of the (used) Canon 24-105 mm L IS lens. I was also very satisfied with my previous purchase (Canon 100-400 L) , and would highly recommend.

I have been using Ffordes for many years now and always return to them as they give the absolute best service I have ever found in the UK. One time I needed to buy a 1940's Contax II for a particular project and was in Alaska. I went straight to their website, they had one in stock (of course), it was in excellent working condition, I ordered it and used it in an Alaska native village at -40C temperatures. It worked flawlessly and the work was used commercially thereafter (BBC News online). Since then, and without having to keep on making purchases, I contact Ffordes from time to time to ask for advice about cameras and lenses and they always respond quickly and go out of their way to do whatever they can to help. Even when COVID-19 struck they were still able to provide advice and provide actual samples of photos taken with hardware they stock in order to help. I would recommend them above any other photographic store in the UK (and maybe even the world, including Samy's cameras in the USA) for the best new, and especially used, equipment. The lens exceeded it description and I am absolutely delighted with it. I walked in when passing through for the Ullapool ferry and asked for advice on taking clinical photographs on an NHS budget. First class honest service. They advised an Olympus T6 with a super macro setting. Point and shoot. Droppable. Washable.They showed me a new one , then found a nearly new one which had just come it at £70 less. They ordered a ring flash. My whole team at work use it and it produces excellent images for patient records. I had wasted hours on the net looking at reviews,asking this question and the T6 never came up! Just ask and they will find what you need. I have used them before for binoculars and home cameras. An amazing stock of second hand equipment. FFordes are known as the holy temple for photo geeks in Scotland and fortunately I live 70 miles away, so any excuse to call in is advised!

The staff in Ffordes are Polite, knowledgable, friendly, helpful and prepared to go the extra distance in order to make your in-shop and on-line gear shopping a pleasing experience. I've purchased both on-line and over the counter. The shop is well stocked with both quality used and new camera equipment. What's not to like?
