“worthless member pledge, misleading advert, Avoid, beware”

★☆☆☆☆

written by anthonybennett on 21/11/2016

I purchased a vehicle from copart uk described with 79000 miles on it. They even photographed the the clocks with 79000. No stickers or warnings of possible discrepancy, I found out after it had 221000 miles the previous mot before I bought it. I still have the vehicle its a t4 camper, worthless with this many miles. I contacted copart expecting some help, coparts member pledge is worthless they didn't appear to care. I enquired many times after I found out as the member pledge states if the mileage on hpi or dvla is different at the time of sale they will refund. They wont, they simply tell you where to go. I'm almost £5000 out of pocket, not even a partial offer.. I'm still within the 6 years so can still take civil action. They have no conscience using misleading adverts in my case, then refuse to acknowledge my valid claim as the vehicle was clearly clocked, information I did not have until after I purchased, received the registration and motd.. Do they care as the member pledge states, not at all! Its worthless. Buyers beware, if the members pledge was worth anything they would still have shown some level of willingness to help, seriously you've been warned, they may view your claim like mine, with impunity.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you had a negative experience with Copart.

The Member Protection Pledge eligibility timeframes clearly state that if

“The vehicle’s odometer reading is less than the most recent mileage information available from the DVLA and/or HPI” that this should be mentioned at the time of collection/delivery.

If you would like to understand the Member Protection Pledge further, please visit our website for more information.

THE MEMBER PLEDGE IS JUST A GOOD SELLING TOOL TO THE UNTRAINED EYE, IT MEANS APOSLUTLEY NOTHING IN "REALTIME" AS NO CLAIM COULD EVER SUCCEED FOR (1) ALL THAT IS OFFERED UNDER THE PLEDGE IS IMMEDATELY EXCLUDED UNDER ITS LIMITATION CLAUSES AND THEN ENTIRELY EXCLUDED UNDER 8.1 and 8.2 OF THE STANDARD TCc'S BECAUSE YOU ARE CAUGHT BY THE FACT YOUR MENT TO VIEW, INSPECT AND DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BID A ASCERTAIIN ANY ADVERSE IMFORMATION AND AS SUCH YOU CAN SEE JUST FROM THAT, THE PLEDGE COULD NEVER WORK AND THEY NEW THIS WHOM EVER DREW IT UP. IN SIMPLE TERMS IT IS DECEIVING TO DRAW PEOPLE IN TO PURCHASING THERE VEICLES AND THEN WHEN SOMETHING DOES NOT TURN OUT RIGHT AS AGAINST THERE DISCRIPTIONS AND THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY AND A COMPLAINT OR CLAIM IS MADE, THEY REFER YOU TO THERE SHILED EXCLUSION CLAUSES AS A GET OUT.

“came back with more damage than it went with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rogers490 on 29/10/2016

absolutely disgusting went to sandtoft copart with front bumper damage and declared a write off. I had intentions of fitting a new front bumper and getting the car back on the road. only for the car to be returned with a big dint a scratch down the drivers door and other dents all over the vehicle. Try calling to discuss and basically get fobbed off. why do our insurance companies charge so much for such a poor service. how does this company still operate in such a manner and still receive work. luckily for me I took over 50 photographs of the vehicle on the morning it was taken by copart and will be taking this as far as possible to highlight the poor workmanship and lack of professionalism from this company.

“Copart UK advertised cars with information to attract...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AnnOnu on 17/09/2016

Copart UK advertised cars with information to attract higher bids and after sales and payment would refused to accept responsibility for false description, which is against the sale Act. I bought a car from Copart last month, advertised with Satellite Navigation and other specs. On delivery, it was discovered the car has no navigation and the branch manager refused responsibility for wrong advertising to gain interest and higher bids - a fraudulent & deceptive act, claiming it is buyer to check before collecting car. I am gathered evidence from other customers/members and we are preparing to take legal action on this fraudulent company, and seek other dissatisfied complete to contact me with the experience and evidence to present to the legal firm. I strongly believe this company should be stopped and punished financially, I am also got some media attention drawn to their practice and they are secretly observing and following evidence gathered so far. Please to new members, be careful with Copart UK. Note the Pure sale, turning to minimum bid and description that are not true description of the car, as they have special description to their major client and different description for members - evidence available and as shown on other reviews. Please support the group and Copart has already been given a 7 days notice of intention.

How very true and correct --they are misleading people as a matter of normality ,no one, with even a modicum of savvy, expects a car auction to inspect and give a thorough description of every blemish scratch and catch ,it's primarily,or supposed to be ,a salvage auction however,,the problem arises when you have them advertising to BUY motors with known mechanical problems which are then inserted into their own auctions ,unannounced as them having a vested interest / profit motive ,in a particular car-and with the difficulties with the vehicle either undeclared or deliberately vaguely described as mechanical .Any motor dealer doing the same thing would be hung up by the heels by trading standards .These cover their tracks when dealing with the unwary by making sure that no log book is available with any motor they want to burn someones fingers with, relying on time removing them from all pain .It's a shame really that a few avaricious individuals have managed to ensconce themselves into a position whereby they can not only catch people in a wholesale manner financially whilst hiding around the back of "Your resposibility to carry out your own viewing first" ,but have also given so very many people ,looking to buy a cheap motor , the raving hump with their bumptious self belief in their own invulnerability. I personally have spoken to two researchers from different tv shows dedicated to exposing rip offs by these sort of characters and they both started frothing at the possibility .Watch this space basically and see what transpires, greed is invariably its own worst enemy, and I cant see this being any different

“AVOID COPART WOLVERHAMPTON ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by axMurray355 on 21/08/2016

Avoid At All Costs, Very Rude Staff, dishonest and do not care once you have paid! Purchased 4 cars, all cars delivered by Copart First car arrives with parts missing, bumper trim removed, spare wheel and jack removed, all parts clearly on photo images on Copart website. Second car arrives, once again parts missing, photo images on Copart web site clearly show parts are on vehicle Third car arrives, whilst on recovery vehicle we notice the passenger side door mirror is hanging off and massive dent in door, we refuse to take delivery, Copart driver call office and we are advised extra damage has been recorded and for us to take delivery and they will sort it out. Forth car arrives, once again parts are missing We sent emails to customer support, email read receipt sent to us to prove email has been opened, ignored by Copart and we have had no reply We then send same email to General Manager of Copart Wolverhampton , email read receipt sent to us to prove email has been opened, once again ignored no reply. So Guess Copart does not care once you have paid for cars, they have staff that give you false and misleading info just so you take delivery of vehicles. Copart have staff working in their yards removing parts off vehicles that have been paid for by buyers. Copart do not care so best to spend your money else where, AVOID COPART WOLVERHAMPTON...... Reported to trading standards, BBC Watchdog, court action will follow to recover out out of pocket expenses .

Avoid At All Costs Do not buy from this branch as the vehicle you bid on will not be delivered in the same condition as in the photos displayed on their web site. Upon delivery we noticed parts had been removed off vehicle, unrelated to accident damage area, spare wheel removed, fuel pipe cut, front bumper trim removed , bumper fog lamps missing, theses parts were clearly fitted to vehicle in the photos displayed, we first refused to accept vehicle, Copart driver called his office and we was advised by manager driver had witnessed condition vehicle was delivered and parts missing noted, send email and we will sort out, sent emails, replied in Copart part terms and conditions it states Copart can not be held responsible for extra damage . Try telling Copart it's not extra damage around the accident damage, your staff at the yard have messed with the vehicle and removed the parts, it's called taking parts off vehicle that have been sold Be warned avoid Copart Wolverhampton they take parts of your vehicles whilst stored in their yard

“ Car Rendered Useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by huxtasj on 09/08/2016

After my car accident in May 2016, my car was deemed a write-off and moved to storage at CoPart Sandy, by Aviva, whilst arrangements for payout and for me to buy the car back were made. Despite Aviva supposedly putting the car on a Safe Guard program, when I received my car back after paying £990 for it, it certainly wasnt in the condition it had gone there in. The car had sustained only rear-end and drivers side mirror & sill damage in the accident yet now it had been returned to me with a damaged front bumper, smashed off passenger wing mirror, missing locking wheel nut and worst of all, my front passenger alloy with brand new tyre, had been removed and replaced with an old corroded alloy with a completely the wrong size run-flat tyre, and that tyre had a massive blown out hole on the inside! This is down right dangerous! As I had wanted to buy the car back to use the bumper (now damaged), the alloys with brand new tyres (only 3 there now and no locking wheel nut key to even get them off) and passenger door (now scratched as the smashed wing mirror had been banging around on it), the car was now useless to me. CoPart initially tried to deny everything over the phone and even said they would send me over pictures of my car. However, then (I can only assume by accident)they send all the pictures and one clearly showed my car in the condition it has left my drive, another showed it with my space saver tyre on it, covered in mud and with the mirror smashed off and then another picture showed my car with the corroded alloy and dangerous tyre! I immediately sent the pictures over to Aviva who paid out £500 compensation to me and took over from there (I have not hear anything since). As £500 barely even covers the cost of new tyres let alone alloys, I am now out of pocket thanks to CoPart and what should have been a straight forward return of my car ended up with me receiving a vandalised, useless car. Please, do yourself a favour. If your insurance company tell you your car will be taken to CoPart, make sure it doesnt!!

Phoned them up and was told one of there vans had broken down, bike would be returned 12 7 16. Guess what. It wasn't returned. After another lengthy phone call they agreed to return on 13 7 1 witch it was.. Unfortunately it came back ina worse stair than when it left my home. The right wing mirror had been snapped of it had a flat front tyre with a nail in it and then it had been covered in some sort of corrosive liquid that has stained and marked all the left hand side of my bike.. “disposing of vehicles without authority”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bakeruo416 on 14/07/2016

We have recently been instructed to recover a vehicle sold by Copart, our client has never agreed a salvage price with his insurance company but has had an interim payment, however title/ownership does not pass until funds are received in full from the insurers. Copart refuse to communicate with our client and the insurance company admit the vehicle has been sold in error. Our client wants his car back and we will carry out his request. The new owner has no ownership rights (similar to buying a car for cash that has outstanding finance in it - you lose it!). Copart are about to have an angry customer who will also be pedestrian for a time. Beware and ask for their written authority to dispose of the vehicle you buy as if you don't we may be knocking on your door next!

“CHEAP CARS AT BARGIN PRICES IF YOU CAN REPAIR”

★★★★★

written by on 24/06/2016

Ive been buying off this company for near on 6yrs since they came into uk and took over everything, got to say there was a period of around 3yrs when the inexperienced clowns who pushed the prices up paying over the odds for salvage, these are the people who usually leave all the bad reviews, as complain about payin a fraction of the retail price for a car they expect to be in perfect condition. Now after 6years the prices of the heavy smashed salvage prices are near to what we used to pay b4 they took over around 10-15%, partly due to the eastern Europeans havin tighter controls over exporting them and probably all the clowns who had no experience realizing you have to spend money and source parts for cars smashed to pieces to get them going again if you can repair heavy smashed cars and want to make serious money then this is the business for you, as you will only ever bid against a handful of people on the heavy smashed cars, last purchase was a 2015 model corsa 1.0T with 3k miles for 1300quid, car retails at £13000 so plenty of profit when its repaired, was rolled with minor suspension knocked off and bags blown another was a 2012 audi a3 DSG 1.6 TDI 29k miles sportback paid £1200 retailing at £13000, so again plenty of profit after repaired. Both cars very easy repairs if you have a jig and can source used parts cheap or liek us used pattern insurance approved parts. Only issue we do have is that they do try and get as much money as possible (to b expected as there a business) so you have to wait weeks for them to realize no one is going to pay there mental reserve prices to buy the car, for the corsa it was £3650 (lol) and audi £3500 well over priced for cars smashed to pieces and requirin jiggin, waited nearly 5 & 7 weeks for they to let them go for our bid prices, but its a bonus as gives u the opportunity and time to source the parts. And a word of warnin never accept there bid price ONLY pay what you bid, you've got the bare on thick to accept a price of £3000 when you bid £1000, as thats the price the market wants to pay not what they dictate. Profit for us for 4 weeks work from these 2 cars £8000 so not bad!!! Yes you'll get countless reviews from the clowns who live in cloud cuckoo land expectin to buy a showroom car for 1/2 the retail price, but if your trade or a private wantin to earn or save some serious money on your next car, then this is the place to go, over 7000 cars ranging from ferraris to fiats, you have a issue finding a car if your ready to work! The customer service is excellent; phones answered within seconds, extra damage information request always given within a few hours, the yards well set out and easy to get to, basically a typical american company; gives the customer what they want!

Hi mbKehoe376,

We are sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

The issue you have described sounds like our counter bidding process. This is where the seller has placed a minimum bid, or bid to be approved on the vehicle. If your bid was the highest offer, the seller may have tried to counter bid your offer which you are free to accept, decline and keep your current bid or counter bid and increase your offer.

For more information on counter bidding please refer to our FAQ section.

Please note that we also have fees that are additional to the hammer price of the vehicle, these are listed on our website.

If you’d like more information on this process please contact member services.

Not surprised at all by this. My car was in an accident and taken there by the insurance company whilst I arranged to by the car back from Aviva. Despite the car supposedly being on a Safe Guard Program, they had already smashed off a mirror and stolen one of my alloys and when it was returned to me in this state, it had CatD written on the wind screen when all of Avivas paperwork etc had stated Cat C.

Very dodgy company.

They asked me to call 2 different numbers, also it would go straight to to voicemail. they also told me that someone will call me back by 2pm which was also a lie. customer service advisers who i spoke with were very rude and every time they would like about thing which i don't get why as I'm only here to make a purchase. i would strongly recomand everyone no to sign up and their customer service is terrible.

There is no customer service skills, they do not want to help individuals who turn up in person to collect.and don't care you are risking £1000s on something you may not have seen in person .they will not let you inspect before taking as far as there concerned you have agreed to buy and need to shut up pay and take away!(after waiting on there loading for hours(wreckless loading by forklift even if driveable) You have to pay registration fee befor realising bargins are few and far between.car buyers can buy and sell @loss as most profit comes from financemost of Europe bidding as used car prices higher(no one in uk would be seen in a 10yr old car)and I heavily suspect underwriting and bidding off the wall

My boyfriend just won a bid on copart but doesn't really want the car,as he doesn't really have enough money for it. He thought someone would bid higher but they didn't. Does anyone know if you can cancel it and not have to purchase the car Thanks
