“Quality all round”

★★★★★

written by Jacob_L on 18/01/2012

I would recommend Servicing Stop every time. Thye provide an excellent and highly professional service. My car was collected from work, delivered back with me getting some great deals on brakes and a pollen filter. They were in constant contact with me so I understood exactly what was going on. The whole experience was extremely convenient and I had no problems at all. Thank you - Jacob

“A great experience all round”

After watching your Dragons Den video on youtube I knew this would be a great idea. They were very professional, calling me when my car was in and advising me on what I should do to maintain my car properly in the future. The expert help will certainly go a long way. Delivered back on time and a wholly professional service throughout. I'll be coming back next year for my car service.

Very professional service. As soon as I booked my car in they gave a me a call straight back arranged my service two days later. They kept me informed with everything, inspected my whole car and gave me a great deal on my rear tyres. The actual car service was great and my car is running smoothly. Delivered back on time as arranged and the company were overall a pleasure to deal with. Cheers

“Be alert”

written by sajayjo on 15/01/2012

As many people said here, they try to sell you so many things. I just agreed for break fluid change (£55). I could not make the payment before 5pm (you should pay by internet) and next day when the car was delivered, I found out a difference of around 90 miles. Customer services promised a call next day from the garage. They did not call. I called again and found out that for security reasons the car was taken away (90 miles!) and again promised a call from garage next day (still waiting – 3days). If you can not make internet payment the moment they say your car is ready, you risk your car being driven around without your permission and knowledge and you will be responsible for anything that happens during that period. Of course I got it petrol finished.

“I was sceptical, but am now delighted”

★★★★★

written by SarahNC on 13/01/2012

After getting a quote from my local Land Rover dealer I decided to shop around, but was a bit sceptical about finding a garage that would have all the Land Rover equipment and assured spare parts. The price quoted by Service Stop was nearly 50% cheaper. So it was no contest. They collected the car from my work. Service stop had told me they would collect between 8 - 10am and they were waiting for me as I got to work at 8.15. I was contacted at lunch time to get approval for a few minor things that needed doing and they rang me to let me know that they were leaving to deliver it back to my home later the same day - cleaned inside and out! Even better was that there weren't any little hidden extras that always seem to find there way onto the bill. I'm very impressed and will definitely use them again.

I thought the website was great, very easy to you, simple and straight forward. I entered the reg of my car and after a few moments the exact model was displayed on the screen with a full service quote of £220 including collection and delivery. Brilliant! Collection was made and after work had started I got a call. Extras which you will need Special oil - £18 Pollen filter - £43 Spark plugs £49 Etc etc You get the idea. Very disappointed!!

“Good value! Just be aware of a couple of things...”

I have used ServicingStop for the second year now, my wife for her car also. I drive a LandRover Freelander TD4 on a '56 plate with 57000miles. I do about 24000miles per year (mainly motorways) but some country roads and single-track lanes and rely on my 4x4 in the winter. I found ServicingStop as a result of a Google search because main-dealer servicing is as you can imagine somewhat more expensive than smaller independent garages. ServicingStop seemed like a good idea to me because of the car being collected, a set price offered for a full service that was lower than the dealer quote and a full clean/valet is carried out before being returned to my specified address. I thought why not and made the booking. Prompt collection, inspired confidence, not signing anything less so... Soon afterwards a phone call about extra work requiring undertaking. This is where I was ahead of the game and had done some research on items I KNEW would need doing... (this relates to my first service in 2010) >> Front brake pads: SS quoted £130.- / I bought them myself for £40.- and fitted them myself (free). >> Pollen filter: SS quoted £53.- / I bought and fitted it myself for £10.- >> Windscreen Wipers: SS Quoted £30.- which I took as I knew BOSCH were a good brand. >> Engine-flush+Fuel treatment: SS quoted me £36.- / Reddex £6.- (fuel-treatment only). The car came back nice and clean and overall pleased with the ServicingStop experience knowing that I'll need to know what prices are for parts and whether their quotes are inflated or realistic. For 2011, I once again used ServicingStop, again good communication surrounding the booking and pick-up of my Freelander. Gave them a heads-up that I may need new front discs and pads but wasn't sure and that the engine is running rough on start-up. Got a phone call from the designated garage to tell me that the discs and pads were fine but that they recommend a Pollen Filter (again for £53.-) and an Engine-Flush and Fuel treatment (£36.-). The filter as you read above can be sourced from reputable sources on eBay for £10.- but this time I thought I'd try the flush/treatment to reduce the rough-start issue (which hasn't been resolved however). The car came back nice and clean again. Overall, I am pleased with ServicingStop, I will use them again, as will my wife. Having a HAYNES MANUAL however is a great help and being able to source some items on the internet means you could probably save some further cash on simply to replace items like air filters, oil filters and brake pads if you feel confident enough to tackle these tasks yourself (I use the Haynes Manual and saved some money). If I could help ServicingStop to improve I would like to make the following suggestions. 1) When the car is collected have a sign-over sheet, with ServicingStop letterhead and the name of the garage/address/contact number it's going to. Who am I giving my keys to otherwise? What if my email had been intercepted/hacked and now I've given my keys to someone not involved with the company? 2) Please stop trying to up-sell customers for items that are substantially more expensive. For example £130 for my brake pads would mean that if the pads had been sourced for £40 then some chap is making £90 for the 20 minutes it takes the fit them. The same for the £53.- pollen filter which can be sourced for £10 and fitted in under 2 minutes! Finally why is the Engine-Flush and Fuel-treatment offered at every service? It's £36.- but can be self-administered with £6.- worth of REDDEX and a separate Engine cleaner for £15/£20.- 3) When the car is returned to the customer can a sheet be provided to show the actual work done? I know that ServicingStop is lower priced than a main-dealer however a sheet of pre-printed paper with a tick-list on items/litres replaced, their quantity and value will surely only underline how good value SS actually is - it will also help to reinforce the stamp in the service book when it comes to selling the car that it has been serviced correctly and not just ticked off in the book. Servicing kits are available on the internet for about £50-70 for my Freelander including Oil-, Air-, Pollen- and Fuel-filter as well as 9Litres of Engine oil... if the rest of my service schedule is inspection of hoses and liquid-levels/instrument operation and labour for fitting the above then I'd be interested to know what my money is going on versus playing DIY-Mechanic with my trusted HAYNES... I will be using ServicingStop again for my wife's car (due soon) but will be more aware of the costs of basic items that seem to be over-priced when ServicingStop tries to do the job... it is worth doing some research... For my Freelander I may well use an independent LandRover specialist just to give it a once-over at the next service to make sure I don't have any issues that have been overlooked previously... apparently LR's do need a little more TLC... Hope this review has helped! :D LandRover Driver of Basingstoke.

I needed my car serviced for a family trip to Wales over the holidays and I’m glad I chose you guys. My car was perfect for the 200 odd mile trip. After watching you on youtube I called them up and they sorted everything out for me. They booked me in 2 days after and advised me what parts of my Audi may need attention. I am very happy with everything cheers guys.

“ A great way to service your car”

I am very happy with Servicing Stop and the way that my car was serviced. I booked online with ease and I got a call within 5 minutes! I didn’t even need to book a day off work, they came to my office and picked up the car and dropped it back when I needed to go home. When I drove home my car was driving as smooth as ever. I’m definitely coming back next year.

“Not as good value as it seems”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/12/2011

I found servicing stop during a search for local garages and seemed like a great idea, convenient and good value. No doubt it was convenient, easy to book everything backed up with e-mail and text confirmations and car collected on schedule. I later recieved a phone call advising me that a number of additional items to my service were recommended, the long list of which would more than triple the intial 'good value' service cost. I am no expert on the cost of car parts, but even to my untrained ear the costs quoted seemed high so I decided to get my own quotes for the work before agreeing to go ahead - I am very glad I did!! Spark plugs quoted at £79.19 done for £40 instead, wheel alignment went from £78 with servicing stop to £25 at another garage! Front brake pads from £128.10 to £55, trye valve and balancing from £18 to £10 and pollen filter from £58.18 to £25. Overall, by not taking their advice and going elsewhere i have saved over £200! I would definately not recommend this option, just go direct to your local garage as I should have done in the first place!!

Watched the Dragon's Den pitch, and thought what a great 21st century solution to the hassle of getting your car serviced. The price (although reduced by over £100) was far cheaper than any other similar service I could find on the net (BMW 318i). Booked the car in, and 2 days later it was collected from my work in the morning. I was sent a txt and email later on in the day when the car was ready, and I paid for the service online. The car was returned back before I left from work. Was very happy with the price and service, and will/ already have recommended.

“A mistake”

I booked my wife's Toyota Yaris in for a full service and MOT by ServicingStop - quote: £215. They phoned and said some items were required for the MOT: Wipers:£28, Bulb:£16. Then they said the brakes are very worn: front...and rear.. and they would cost £240 ... and the clutch was also very worn - £480...(cf. £290 from Mr Clutch) oh, and they strongly recommended an oil additive for £35. I found that the brakes weren't required for the MOT and just agreed to the wipers and bulb, which were. I thought they told me they were going to bill me after I got the car back but no, they wanted online payment first. I paid. Then they phoned and said

“Lack of Expertise”

★★★☆☆

written by Davids42 on 08/12/2011

I used Servicing Stop for the first time a few months ago. As other reviews have stated, once the car had been collected several phone calls increased the amount of work involved and considerably increased the price originally quoted. When the car was returned, a number of warning lights that I had referred to when booking it in were still showing. They explained they had changed a faulty sensor (expensive!) and that there was a reset of the diagnostics required. They had two attempts to reset, one taking the car back in and one sending a 'specialist' to my office. They then arranged for me to take the car to another garage 7 miles away, but they could not fix the problem. In the end I took the car to Williams BMW Manchester who found a wiring problem and fixed it straight away (Obviously I had to pay again). Several months of correspondence with Servicing Stop have followed but they have stated that as their equipment showed a faulty sensor it was correct to change it. Even when this did not solve the problem they believe it was correct to leave it on the car, despite the high cost. I have argued that it was unlikely to have been two faults on the same circuit but they have stated that this was possible. Overall a very expensive, inconvenient experience for me. I will not use them again as I think overall the main dealer gives me better value for money and better service.

Was not sure what this service would bring but the main dealer would always stiff me anyway so I gave it a go and was really pleased. I will use them again and I do recommend them. Did what they said at a great price (compared to others), so can only recommend these people.

I recently used service stop. Bascially they are an agency and use local garages. The service you get depends on the garage and not the agency so much. The garage I used was first class and polite. However here is the killer blow. Servicing stop tries to extract money on a grand scale for extras. Here is an example Brake pads = £93 Cambelt = £284 Local garage Brake pads =£43 Cambelt = £144 Luckily I have enough knowledge of cars to know when I am being blatantly over charged. Use your head and choose a reputable garage. Don't go with servicing stop and support your local business. Your just putting money in the pockets of agents much like recruitment agencys which I also detest. In all great customer service lousy sales techniques.

After being quoted nearly £500 for a major service & MOT for my 5 year old Citroen C4 by my garage that I've used for years, I decided that enough was enough and found Servicing Stop on the internet. Their major service & MOT was less than half the price and no expensive extras were 'found'.The car was collected & returned in the times stated and the car was cleaned inside & out! Would heartily recommend this company and will use again next time. Thank You!

The service cost may seem cheap, but extra costs are added on which actually means that the cost compares to a service at the main dealer. Servicing Stop DOES NOT save you money! Also their pick up/drop off service is not that special as many garages offer this service. I will never use them again.

I have booked my car in for an MOT and there are no pre existing problems that I am aware of. However, if they find something that needs doing, but I would rather get it done elsewhere, please confirm that if I find a cheaper quote and they will return the car, then that they will carry out the MOT once its done?

I have never been in that position but I would inagine that if it needs work done then that's a fail, and they would expect, if you didn't want to have the work done to get a pass then they would charge you for the MOT. If you present it again after the work they would need to test it again at your cost. I think that is only fair. If they are testing twice they should be paid twice

If the problem would cause an MOT fail they will not pass the car - nevertheless the mot will be charged. If you then had it done elsewhere the MOT would then have to be repeated so that the car can pass

hi, I had my van serviced and with extras that cost too much!! I just got them to do it thinking will save me hassle. I was definately over priced by the garage that took my van. I would put in for mot and check that you can get it back with no problems!! if you decide to go else where. If the quote seems fair go with them, use your insight!! In hindsight i should have got it done at a local garage as i will next time for me 30% more expensive!! good luck. ps--use a trusted garage over this supposed convenience,
Report this content Ajam1212 Written on: 08/10/2016
You only pay for the MOT test. The MOT test centre is independent of garage it is situated at.If it is a fail you have a time period of 10 days I believe (will say on the fail sheet how long). To get the work done wherever you wish and then return the vehicle to the same test centre for a retest at no extra charge as long as it's within the stated time on the fail sheet. MOT centres are essentially government regulated as are the testers.

I'm sorry but I have no idea and can only suggest you give Servicing Stop a call or email and ask them. My car was done in Lossiemouth, Moray, and they were happy to tell me where the car was going. Can't fault the service but that is obviously down to the individual garage and as we all know there are good and bad.

They use all local garages maybe it's a garage down the road from you give them a call ,they pick your car up and return it to you leaving you free to relax in your own home. 100% great service.

Unsure where they are based but I would avoid at all cost. Prices will rise when your car is already in, they attempted to charge me 5 times main dealer price for low ash oil (over and above the oil price already paid), they do not follow manufacturer service guideline as advertised and to top it off car returned late. Look over the Internet for many poor reviews
