i ordered a plant in early december which they shipped out a week before christmas,twenty days later my dead plant arrived,since then i emailed the customer services for a refund after 2 weeks i am still waiting for a reply but nothing ever happens.i refuse to phone them as the number cost 10 pence a minuite and take 15 to twenty muinites to sort out from previous experience

“Pleasantly surprised”

I ordered 2 plants, 3 litre T. Fortunei and 7.5 litre callistemon, as they seemed real bargains and I ordered without checking out company reviews as I usually do. The reviews I read afterwards left me dreading my impulsive purchase, but I received both plants today, well packaged, healthy with moist soil and larger than I expected. The one downside is the delivery time, as 10 to 14 days seems excessive but if the plants turn up in good condition then I guess it's not a problem (my order was delivered within the timeframe specified) I didn't have cause to speak to their customer service department so I cannot comment on that.

“Avoid at all costs”

I thought it was a nifty idea to sign up to a gardening club at £10 for the year and get a pack to get us started, along with this I got 40 bags of horse manure. After many phone calls at 10p a minute - I finally got the manure - two lots delivered twice in one day a month later. The membership pack has not materialised so had to phone yet again today. When I said it was a Christmas present for my husband which was ordered in November and advised that delivery would be 21st December, I asked if they could compensate me for all the wasted time and cost. I was met by a response of "but I'm ordering it for you again at no extra cost to yourself"!! I've been promised that it will be arriving in two weeks time, if not I will be contacting Trading Standards as it looks like they're trying to con people with their high call charges. They are also sly about charging your card separately for the delivery and membership pack details so that it's under the £100 - to little to query with your credit card company. I ordered the manure with no additional delivery charge but they add a delivery charge to your card and then refund once porducts are delivered. I'm certain that if you don't notice the charge they will try and process it, but at any rate you will be in contact with them to query it which leads back to an expensive phone call. I certainly will not be doing business with them again, and have told them so but they were really apathetic. At the end of the day it's their loss. But please read the reviews before you buy, it may be the best thing you do and it will hopefully put this joke of a company out of business.

“Terrible company. Wrong variety, almost dead on arrival.”

I ordered two 'pineberry' strawberry plants from this company. They arrived after a long time. The plants were dry and poorly packaged with broken petioles. Both were barely alive although I nursed one to health, which later flowered and fruited, great except it was then obviously the wrong variety; pineberry have pale yellow fruit with red seeds while the fruit the plant produced was a typical red strawberry. At the time pineberry was quite a rare variety; Garden Bargains was obviously selling a common variety while taking a premium from customers believing they were receiving the rarer 'pineberry' variety. I complained once when I received the plants and again when it fruited: they refused a refund the first time and ignored my email the second time. Please don't buy anything from this company! Alex

“Keep away”

This is an awful company. They use a premium telephone number and you're forced to hold on listening to marketing messages. Their promised delivery date is a complete fiction and when you call they just give you a pack of lies. I'm still waiting for the balance of my order some two months on!

“Dont do it....”

ordered some bulbs early Dec '12. GB decided to split the order into two and send bits from different sources. I had a confirmed order @ £19.00 which was then paid by debit card online. They then decided to add another postage charge to the second split of the delivery so charged me £25.00(their choice to split remember). So far two e-mails ignored & I refuse to ring the 10p per minute number to hold for half an hour. There is no warning that they will split orders at their own discretion and charge additional postage on each part of the split. Garden bargain it wasnt & I wont be going back to them. I will be speaking to the bank about a refund as the second half of the order still hasnt arrived. Dont use this site/company. You may wish you hadnt if you do......be warned.

“Plants Not Fit For Perpose”

I bought orleanders from this company 3 years ago and they promised a "blaze" of colour. not one flower and in the bin they went, I complained but like their plants it was a waste of time. DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

“Wish I'd read these reviews first!”

I bought nearly £50 worth of raspberry, strawberry and blackberry plants last spring. They arrived late and some of them were dead when I got them; others only just alive but I thought I'd give them a chance - by the middle of the season EVERTHING except for one blackberry had died. I was so disappointed - I am living on a low income and bought these plants with money that was a birthday gift, with a view to saving money on soft fruit for years to come. I sent in a complaint but of course I heard nothing back. I nearly always look for reviews before I buy anything on the internet but this time I didn't. I believe they are part of the group which includes the shopping channel Ideal World. Shameful service.

“NOT EVEN THE RIGHT TREES”

THIS COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST RIPOFF.DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.I ORDERED PHOENIX CANARIENSIS(PALMS).SENT ME DEAD PLANTS.THAT WERE NOT WHAT I ORDERED.SPOKE TO ONE OF THEIR OPERATORS OSMAN.WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A REFUND OF £56.00.THERE WAS NO NEED TO PICK UP THEIR WRONG PLANTS.THE CHEQUE WOULD BE IN THE POST WITHIN 14 DAYS.I EXPLAINED I PAID BY VISA.HE TOLD ME IT WAS COMPANY POLICY.THEY ONLY REFUNDED BY CHEQUES.THIS CONVERSATION WAS ON 4TH SEPT 11.55AM.STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND.SENT CUSTOMERS SERVICES AN EMAIL TODAY.NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.I WILL BE TAKING THIS FURTHER.

GARDEN BARGAINS ARE THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, THEY DO NOT DELIVER ITEMS AS ORDERED AND WHEN YOU RING THEY KEEP YOU ON THE PHONE FOR HALF AN HOUR ON AN 0871 NUMBER THEY PROBABLY MAKE MORE OUT OF THE COMPLAINT NUMBER THAN THEY DO OUT OF SELLING PLANTS, NEVER AGAIN.THEY TOOK MY ORDER KNOWING THAT THE STOCK WAS LIMITED AND I ONLY GOT ONE OF THE TWO, SO MUCH FOR BUY ONE GET ONE FREE,WHY SEND ME ONE KNOWING THEY WOULD HAVE TO SEND ME ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE ,SIMPLY SO I WOULD HAVE TO PHONE THEM ON A DEAR PHONE NUMBER AND BE HELD FOR AGES

could not agree more i managed after 15 mins to speak to someone only to be told i had rung the wrong no that call cost £2 rang another no which they gave me i was kept on hold for 15mins then i gave up trying this is exactly what they want i will never order of this company again

“We want your money not your complaints”

So garden bargains!! sorry not a bargain when they sell dead trees and never answer emails or replace dead plants. Take the advice if it looks too good a bargain then it is a con. This place is keen to get your money but not at all concerned about any complaints, they do not answer and therefore offer no response to a complaint. If your trees die hard luck we have your money thats the attitude it appears. My mini orchards costing £100 gave no fruit and some died and I reckon I could have bought a lot of fruit for my freezer or fresh on that money. My little grandaughter is so disappointed as she has been eagerly watching the trees. I sent photo's of dead trees but who cares? No-one from Garden bargains via ideal tv. Everyone must complain to Trading Standards as I said below on another persons message. So many sites complaining about this company. Everyone should avoid them. All I wanted was my live trees from Garden Bargains.com purchased through ideal tv. jUST GLAD I DID NOT ORDER MORE ITEMS FROM THE TV. NEVER WILL I BUY AGAIN FROM THEM AND WONT EVEN LOOK AT THE TV CHANNEL

“Rogue Traders ”

Simply Terrible, we ordered the trees on the 2nd of June and we are still out of pocket with no trees. They ignore your e-mails in order for you to call their premium rate customer services number. They make you wait weeks for a non receipt form, when they receive your request for a redelivery they simply ignore you in the hope you go away..... If you request a refund they will not refund the delivery charge even though they have failed to deliver Items. Although they might offer it as compensation for the countless hours waisted mailing and calling them to get the issue resolved!!! Shoddy company, shoddy customer service. Buyers Beware....... It would be quicker to grow a tree from seed than to deal with these cowboys.

“Cannot get a delivery”

I have been waiting some 8-10 weeks now for my delivery. The first batch went missing according to customer services. They reordered. The account is in my wife's name, I have spoken to them 5-6 times no problems but today they cannot talk to me as I am not the account holder. Data protection. WHAT HAPENED TO THE 5-6 PREVIOUS TIMES? I could not hear the person properly as their phones do not work very well. They will only speak to my wife. Yet they rang me 8 weeks ago saying some of the items were no longer available. Would I like to join the gardening club special offer. Yes I said. not heard anymore about it since. They have my money I have nothing. Have they broken data protection by talking to me in the first place when it was unlawful? I would liked to have known they were not a con.

“Dead plants are us”

They arrived dead,I inform them straight away, asked if they wanted the box of soil back .But was told not to bother they would sent me a cheque in the post for the full amount with in 28 days.Of course this did not happen after 4 phone calls and really no help from the call centre I received my cheque after 56 days and they have charged for delivery of which Im disputing.I would have liked to have given them no stars in this review as this would best reflect the service I have received so far.

“Buy dead trees from here”

Bought 2 apple and 1 cherry bare root trees. Didn't look good but gave them a chance. After over a month did the 'bark test' they recommend which confirmed they are dead. They refuse to give a refund or replacement saying wait until late September when we will have some more in. They say they are unable to process refunds - Keep away !!!

same for me, none of my trees have fruited and I ordered 2 mini orchards so nearly £100 and 2 are dead, Apricot and Plum. I told them so many times but no response at all except one email to tell me to email an address which was the one they sent the email from!! work that out. I doubt any of the trees will ever fruit. Everyone should report them to Trading Standards which i am going to do as they can't be bothered with customers just want their money. If enough people complain they will be investigated. I was trying to get a lovely orchard of fruit for my little grandaughter to pick fruit from instead I have dead sticks and other trees with some leaves but no fruit at all. Could also report them to agencies which investigate TV standards as ideal tv are promoting a very bad garden centre. Plenty of decent ones around so look elsewhere

“Don't bother”

Quite frankly this company deserve every ounce of bad publicity that gets thrown at it.l purchased a set of 4 eayfill baskets in March,when the planting season arrived in May l discovered a gate missing, l have been trying to get one ever since. As this is part of Ideal World l can understand the bad customer service,lies,promises etc. l've also got the mini orchard and now in its 3rd year and no fruit. Lovely trees but l bought them for fruit not decoration. No amount of shaming on websites etc seems to make an iota of difference so just don't buy from them as all you'll get is c**p
