“Overall a really good phone. Big screen, good apps,...”

Written on: 15/03/2011

Overall a really good phone. Big screen, good apps, good photo quality, easy internet access i can go on. The only bad point is the battery life, if you use your phone alot, lots of talking, texting and internet, battery has trouble lasting more than a couple of hours. When the battery does run out the phone had has trouble shutting down and usually crashing half way through so i end up having to remove the battery and reconnect… Read Full Review

There are two things which people don't realise about this phone
1) Firstly, the bottom of this phone has a chin. This is awesome because I drop it everywhere but it is impossible to break the screen on a flat surface! My record is dropped down one floor in a club, then stamped on.
2) I get two days of battery out of my phone, by easily switching the mobile internet off, with a widget, for 90% of the day.

Get a phone with a chin!!… Read Full Review

Written on: 25/02/2011 by A FANTASTICO (2 reviews written)

Lovely phone. Period. I'll talk about the phone in order with my ratings.

Firstly, I have a pure HTC unlocked phone, with none of the rubbish that networks normally add to your phone before giving it to you, and I've owned it since August.

The screen quality is phenomenal. The HTC Desire sports an AMOLED, 3.7", 800x480 pixel screen. The AMOLED means vibrant colours, that are crisp, bright, and will make iPhone users want to cry. The 3.7" size is more than big enough for using the phone for… Read Full Review

A great Android phone to start with. I was very used to a small Nokia mobile, and the Desire was significantly bigger, but I have gotten used to it and thing it is a good size. The screen is nice and bright, and the touch screen is responsive and easy to use. There have heard of the phone hanging up by mistake (due to the screen activating when being pressed against your ear), but I have not had this problem. The downside is the battery life, which is terrible. But this seems to be a problem… Read Full Review

Written on: 09/02/2011 by reeterry (2 reviews written)

Love my HTC phone, a great smart phone with loads of features. I've read in some reviews the complaint about battery life, yes it can drain alarmingly quickly, but then that should be expected. In full working mode this isn't a phone its a mini computer that can also make calls. You MUST install appkiller or similar and USE IT to turn off apps that drain the battery life.

Pro's
nice to look at
Android
multiple 'home' screens
good screen brightness
decent camera
Good sound (music etc)

Written on: 27/01/2011 by Stuart Cooper (1 review written)

I bought the HTC Desire on the strength of a friends recommendation and then by reading a couple of reviews which backed up his positive comments.

The phone is easy to use and navigate and looks really impressive. I love the fact that I have the freedom to access the internet where ever I am and the 'pinch effect' zoom in / zoom out a great way to view websites not quite optimised for mobile browsing. I also find that the images and text refocus much quicker than what I have seen on other… Read Full Review

Great phone - the words 'iPhone beater' get used a lot, but this is probably one of the few phones that can actually say this. It does pretty much ANYTHING. the flexibility of this phone to be used and changed to how you want it is its strongest point - but in the wrong hands can be a weak point...as if you dont know what you are doing, you can run apps that will drain your battery in a few hours, slow it down, make it crash etc. So its not for technophobes - they should probably stick to the… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/01/2011

I had this phone for three days on O2 (Business Contract). When I first fired it up I was blown away with screen (Amoled version) it was superb. I downloaded various apps, sent a few texts surfed the web and I was really impressed, until.... I used it as a phone. OMG the quality of the calls received via the ear piece was truly dreadful. (The external speaker function was even worse!) I maybe in the minority but the main use of any mobile phone (for me) is making calls and the quality and… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/11/2010

Phone fits well in the hands and feels almost unnoticeable in jeans pocket (and mine are quite tight!). Call quality is very good as is signal reception, but the speaker used for hands free and listening to music etc. is absolutely terrible. It sounds really tinny and distorts a lot. Physical buttons at base are very useful. Good camera but lets itself down in low light conditions which produce more grainy pictures. The LED flash is probably as bad as it is on all phones, but when used against… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/10/2010 by amitkarpe (7 reviews written)

HTC Desire is a Android device. It is a very good mobile phones and performs really well. The camera is good and the Sense UI is nice touch. HTC are a good company and known to keep their customers happy.

They were the first to roll out the Android 2.2. They have always given software updates priority.

The build and quality of the phone is excellent. The features are better than most. The only thing people might find annoying would be the battery life.

Me being a heavy internet user the… Read Full Review

I love this phone, the touchscreen and keyboard is a lovely to feel and sharing the internet connection with my laptop is excellent too. The speaker is pretty poor, but I suppose you use earphones most of the time and I can't plug it into my tv like I could with my nokia, but its so much faster. The apps are great too!… Read Full Review

Written on: 30/09/2010 by londonguy78 (1 review written)

Great phone, so much better than the iphone 4 in terms of what it can do (especially now the Froyo update has come out on Orange). A few points why I think this is better than the iphone 4:
- Most apps that you would have to pay for on the iphone app store (albeit probably only £1-2) can be found free or ad-supported on the android marketplace.
- Free satnav!
- Google translate, great for on holiday (if there is wi-fi)
- Works as a wireless access point to share your 3G connection
- Live… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/09/2010 by infidelwoking (2 reviews written)

After getting fed up with Apple, and their poor attitude to us lowly Iphone 3G users (still in contract I might add) I decided to look for an alternative to the iPhone 4.

After a lot of reasearc I setteled on the HTC desire, and I dont regret this at all. This is a very good phone. The software is well thought out, its feature rich and the build quality is outstanding.

If you are worried about moving from Apple, dont be. It has an app store just like the iPhone, the music player is great… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/09/2010 by theFeenee (3 reviews written)

Upgraded to the HTC Desire from a Nokie E63 which I had been very happy with for 18 months except for the camera. The Desire has a better camera than the Nokia and I liked the screen in the shop.. so I went for it.

Wow! A month later and I can't praise it enough. Rather than try to repeat the excellent review from Ollsbolls below, I'll tell what I find especially impressive/ disappointing.

First the bad points;

1) Battery life. Yes, I know everyone says it but it is a problem. I've bought a… Read Full Review

“Good Points: ”

Written on: 11/08/2010 by Ollsbols (14 reviews written)

Good Points:
Great screen (colour, resolution and touch)
Fantastic user interface (Sense UI)
Fast 1GB processor
Google SatNav
True Multi-tasking

Bad Points:
Battery life not brilliant but comparable with other similar phones
Speaker not the best

General Comments:
I have been using traditional 'smart' phones for some years. Sony Ericsson P800, 910, 990, P1i. On the whole they have been pretty good. The P1i being the best.
After using the P1i for 2 - 2.5 years I decided it was time for a… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/08/2010 by wildthing666 (2 reviews written)

I just bought this phone yesterday and have transferred my contacts to the phone even giving them each an individual MP3 ring tone and set up the network and email, the phone is easy to navigate around and add or remove applications from the home page. Getting used to a touch screen rather than tapping keys is going to take time as I find it a bit on the sensitive side. The speaker on the phone isn't good if you want to listen to music it is much better to use the in ear earphones but be… Read Full Review

Written on: 28/07/2010 by jjav (8 reviews written)

exceptional and out-performs the iphones
Excellent phone for mail access, internet, document reader etc and many other applications. more of the applications are free on the android phones than they are on the iphone.I used the iphone for a few day after recommendations from friends. I found the iphone to be too restrictive and you are locked to Itunes for almost everything , there is no drag & drop facility. The Iphone becomes a little more flexible when you have jailbroken it. However ther… Read Full Review

Written on: 12/06/2010

An excellent piece of kit and would recommend to all. I purchased mine directly from a HTC (not locked or branded to a network, 330+vat) and do not have the minor issues that I have seen on the forums, etc.

A read of the manual is a must though but well work the effort, also the battery life is not so good (average for a smartphone) but a desktop charger (£9) would resolve.

Quality calls, very smooth operation and well supported by HTC. A joy to use… Read Full Review
