“You won’t get your deposit back”

DON’T hire through them!!!! They won’t return your deposit, or respond to any of your emails or live chats. It’s such a shame, we had such a wonderful holiday, and now that has been ruined by this. It’s been almost a month since my deposit has been due, and still we have to wait. DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!

“Avoid”

Still haven't got my £1250 deposit back 6 weeks after we returned. They'll try and slap excess charges on you all over the place, tell you the van was returned late when it wasn't. I've just been hung up on by their customer service people and told I have to email them to get my deposit back. Planning to start a claim with the credit card company to get this back. Awful customer service - avoid at all cost.

Avoid like the plague. Van wasn't in particularly good condition. They charged us when we returned the van because they said the van wasn't clean whereas it was actually cleaner than when we got it. It took us 4 months to get the £1200 deposit back and we only got it because we paid the cleaning charge. Very difficult to communicate with and to find anyone who takes any responsibility. Will never deal with them again and recommend that you don't.

“WILL NOT RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT - DO NOT USE”

The company does not precharge your card for the deposit but takes the full amount, claiming in their T&Cs that it will be returned after 28 working days. Having returned the vehicle damage free and signed to confirm this, I phoned a week before my deposit was due to be returned to ensure it would be and was reassured that this would take place. Having read reviews it seems that I am now experiencing their usual practice, whereby they continually deny you have contacted them and ensure you that the money will be repaid - which it never is. I am into the hundreds now paid in interest and claiming the money back through my credit card.

“Poor customer service”

Problems withe the hire when away. No one is interested in helping Never get to speak to any one, I have spent hours on the phone getting no where. Late refund of deposit. I feel if I had not phoned, (again) I would not have received it. NEVER hire from this company

“Illegal operation do not trust”

Do not hire a motorhome from this company. TandC's only materialise after deposit paid, then they say deposit not refundable. Here is what I found. A whole list of things you are not insured for even if you take out the excess waiver. 1) This is the corker, you aren't insured for reversing the vehicle. So how exactly are you meant to park it then. Sounds illegal to me, what if someone walks behind you and you hit them. You end up in court for insufficient insurance, not them. 2) Windscreen gets a crack in it you have to pay for it to be repaired. Every comprehensive motor insurance I ever took out covered windscreens. 3) Brake a wing mirror and there goes another £350. 4) Overhead damage you aren't insured if you hit a low tree branch. 5) If the table brakes they charge £199. 6) They have a tracker in it, your speed hits 75, or it thinks you exceed 75 then you get automatic £75 fine. Those trackers are not calibrated for that, my company use them and sometimes we have had some very wacky speeds coming from it, even if it were reasonably accurate, it is not a speed gatso camera. I don't condone speeding, but this is just an excuse to charge you. I actually wondered what you were insured for, so I emailed for clarification the same evening I organised the hire. I like to give them a chance to explain in case I mis understood. They didn't bother to respond, so after the weekend I phoned them, they said somebody will call back, next morning somebody did and they confirmed you are not insured to reverse the vehicle. I then said I want to cancel, and I want the £199 deposit refunded as they had not supplied me with the TandC's before I paid it. The deposit is non refundable, but they were quite happy to cancel the booking. I intend to get my credit card company to take this up and get my money back that way. Anyone from trading standards reading this should investigate this company. Renting out a vehicle without it meeting the minimum legal insurance requirements should not be allowed to trade at all.

“DEPOSIT HUNT ”

Don't take my word for it - search on the Guardian Newspaper; Motorhomes and deposits not being returned. Outragegous behaviour, really unfair - I ended up getting charged for Table Brackets that I felt I didn't Break - but had no way to Prove (looked like a consumable to me!). They charged me for a Sat Nav - I never had, but in desperation to get my deposit back - I had to accept their statement, their Figure and hope to be refunded after 10 weeks, I also was charged £50 interest by my Credit Card compnay! RUNAWAY!!!!

“Motorholme/ Unbeatable Hire - RUN AWAY”

Deposit policy highly dodgy. There is no justification to hold a renters deposit for 28 days. If a vehicle is returned with no damage then an instant refund is due - should take no more than 3 days. Rented 3 times because they were cheap and convenient and we had always eventually received the deposit - well after the 28 days and after much chasing. Last rental there were things wrong with the vehicle and they were completely useless at helping out. Researched multiple alternative companies this year and NOONE has a similar policy. I would NOT recommend this company and STRONGLY advise you to run away if you are thinking of hiring from them.

I returned the Motorhome 04/04/2018 and still waiting for my deposit, I am now worried as I did not read the reviews before hiring and it would seem that some people have not received a refund for months. I have written a formal complaint today and depending on the result will have to seek legal advice. Please think carefully before hiring from this company.

My husband booked a motorhome for a weekend and unfortunately my mother and father in law had already booked elsewhere. My husband phoned back within 30 mins of the booking to cancel and it was an automated message. He sent an email indicating that he was cancelling within the 24hr period stated. Suffice to say they have said they will only refund £190 of the £250 he paid. Absolutely shocking.....give them nothing.

Do not go with this company i returned back early Jan 2018 and am still waiting for my extortionate £ 1250.00 security deposit back. i have been through all the proper channels to get it back and still at today's date nothing. if you look on other review sites they have been ripping people off for a long time, so so sorry i never read the reviews about this despicable company, please please read all the reviews and not just about of the few lucky people to get their deposit back.

“An experience worth doing if you want try before you buy”

I've always liked the idea of owning a motorhome, however due to the cost I've never risked buying one. Using a company like Motorholme was a great way to try one to see if it was suitable for us as a family. The motorhome was just as described and for our short weekend trip worked out fine. The guys who handed over the motorhome were excellent and told me everything I needed to know. The only downside was the customer service experience from the company (via email). Very slow to respond and very slow to refund the security deposit. I would highly recommend you read all the reviews and ensure you understand all the terms and conditions (possible extra charges) before you go ahead with the booking. That way you know what to expect and have no reason to complain.

What was advertised as £149 deal cost over £500 9 weeks later still waiting for £250 deposit back. At this stage speaking To member of staff, very difficult, they have your money. Book on credit card, and make sure you read all the terms and conditions, before giving away your hard earned money. Who wants what should be an enjoyable experience, to subsequently, make you feel you have been robbed.

“Preston Caravans and Motorhomes”

If you are reading this review, please take heed. This company is the worst dealer I have ever had the misfortune to purchase from. All they are interested in is getting your signature and your money! We bought a motorhome from them in August last year, and from then on it went downhill pretty rapid. A catalogue of faults, too numerous to mention here, started very much within a few days of ownership. So much so, that eventually, legal prosecution was on the horizon. They constantly fobbed us off with one excuse after another, their 'after sales' team are very good at giving false information. We took the vehicle on part finance, (thank goodness we did) and eventually have received reimbursement from the finance company for the full cost as an engineers report pointed out that all the faults were present at the point of sale. If you are going to purchase a used vehicle from them, get an independant engineer to inspect it before you hand any money over.

Despite the offer of £20 Amazon vouchers for a positive 4 or 5 star review on this site from the company(notice a lot of higher rated reviews recently?) I cannot do it. The service from the friendly staff at collection and drop off was fine, no problems there. What I was not happy about was the ridiculous terms and conditions that I was not able to see until I booked the hire. Although I purchased insurance waiver at £96 for a 3 day hire, I would still not be covered for bumps to wing mirrors, bumpers scrapes to panels, window chips etc, these had fixed fees, I think it was £360 for a wing mirror etc. I am still waiting for a refund of my £250 security deposit 8 weeks after returning from the trip. I wasn't sent the supposed automatic email after 28 working days to process the refund and when you call they don't pick up and don't return calls if you leave a message. Not worth the stress but if you do book use a credit card as you may need the credit card company to chase up your refund.

“Great introduction into motorhoming ”

Booking process was effortless online, everything was explained well and the handover at depot was easy with adequate information provided. There is a guide in the cabin and emergency phone numbers on the wall. No need to have a credit card for the deposit. Motorhome itself was immaculate and surprisingly modern. We went to the Peak District for 3 nights and was so much fun. The kitchen area was sufficient, we had all meals overlooking amazing views, pitch up and have a cuppa! Seats rotated to face the TV for the evening. The bed was comfy, with reading lamps and had black out blinds. When we returned, the couple running the Birmingham depot were really friendly and checked over the vehicle. We got the thumbs up, I cleaned everything as requested (only fair) signed the Ipad and off we went. I will book again and recommend it to anyone wanting to escape the norm. I'd research the area you wish to visit in advance with respect to parking and campsites. The motorhome itself had a caravan club membership so we were able to stay at members only sites, this can save some pennies. We bought a Pathfinders walking guide too which showed places of interest.

“RV RENTAL”

The collection of the motorhome was in a perfect position for us just off the M42, 2 junctions from the M5 .Handover was easy, very friendly and the depo manager gave us some good advice,we left our own vehicle in the position left by the motorhome ,good idea, and we didn't have to leave our keys . The DVD we were given,to play on the DVD player in the motorhome, was excellent, we have never used a motorhome before but everything was explained clearly.The overall condition of the motorhome was good and very easy to drive.The original booking was laborious but it is broken down into easy steps,there was a security deposit to pay (returned) and an insurance waver(optional) which does take the cost up as does re-filling the fuel tank.The only negative point was we wanted to pick up the motorhome early and this was only confirmed 2 days before our hire began,but if you want to experience life in a motorhome i would highly recommend- MotorHolme.

“Lovely camper holiday”

I've got two boys aged 7 and 4 who've been desperate to go on a motorhome holiday for a while. This year we decided to hire one for the August bank holiday week. All went to plan - goo service, the van was clean and tidy and drove well. Needless to say the boys were very excited. We had a great time and the boys (and their friends) loved seeing the fun and a couple came to stay with us. We had a really good time and way more comfortable than camping. Simple online process to book which you need to follow. Deposit and everything all returned no problem. Thank you. Top tip - keep following the online process.
