I was worried on seeing the building that the studio was in, as walking through it smelt damp and was full of bands practising and I think also had people living in some of the old offices. I paid a lot of money for my headshots and since found out that there are 'deals' so I could have got them cheaper. The shots are more like portraits than actors headshots which makes sense as the guy is a portrait photographer. My agent says they look unprofessional and I cannot use them so I have wasted my money. Really friendly guy but I would not reccommend and will be going elsewhere next time.

We have worked with the person I dealt with on two separate occasions now and both times he has offered competitive rates along with unbeatable quality. The portraits and Headshots he has provided us has enhanced out Actor's potential and have had maximum impact with our website and commercial uses too. First time for my daughter having her headshots done. However, this was not a problem as the session was very relaxed and my daughter was made to feel at ease. Great choice of photos, which made choosing just one a bit difficult as they were all great!!! Great communication throughout, great value for money. Would recommend to friends. Studio was slightly hidden away but R came down to greet us so not a problem.

I hate having headshots, but it's a necessary evil, however the person I dealt with made the experience enjoyable and more to the point my agent loved the photo's. I recommend his work and would return.

In order to obtain a portrait for an article in the anniversary publication of my former film school in Germany, I was looking for a photographer for a professional headshot in the style of actors' headshots, and found Rory's portfolio on the Headshot Hunter website. His striking portraits of actors Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen immediately captivated my attention. I contacted the person I dealt with directly via email, and he responded promptly. I explained the format and style I was after, and we agreed on a date to meet to go to Calumet Photographic's studio, which is just by London's Euston station, which made it really easy to get to. The look I had in mind for the headshot generally was a dark one, with low-key lighting and a serious, intense facial expression, painting with shadows to give the photo depth. In an interview video with him that I had found online, he explained that his photography was influenced by German Expressionist cinematography, which appealed to me, as films like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari were part of my studies at film school. The photo shoot session itself, which is called a sitting, as he explained to me, was wonderful. Based on the description of what I was hoping for, he directed me in the poses, and took about 300 photos within the space of about an hour. Before the shoot and in between changes of clothing styles, we talked about his background, his approach to photography, his experience of working with famous clients, his photographic equipment, and plans for the future. he was easygoing and approachable, and I found the session enjoyable, informative, and fun. A day after the shoot, he sent me a download link for an archive with low-resolution versions of all the photos from the shoot, for me to select six that he would retouch and send me in higher-resolution versions. I sent him the image numbers, and waited in anticipation for the retouched results. After a small delay, for which he apologised, he got back to me with the final results, which were fantastic! There was one mixup of photo numbers, but that was quickly resolved. I am very pleased with the resulting photos. Throughout the process, he has been highly professional, and super friendly. He is a knowledgeable and experienced portraitist. I'm happy to recommend his services to anyone interested in professional headshot photography of high artistic quality and value.

Excellent professional, easy going, brilliant experience. I booked with Rory at his Liverpool studio, which is very close to Lime Street Station, so easy to get to. All contact between us was prompt and clear and all business was complete before the photo session.Ive been photographed professionally for 16years in London,Edinburgh and manchester and these are the best I've had. As well as advice and direction from Rory,he was happy to take my lead on different shots and let me feed into the session my experience of what I required.Very happy and will be booking future sessions to update regularly my cv photo and with different looks etc.Thanks Rory. Unfortunately I am unable to provide a positive review for Rory Lewis Studio. We booked the studio for a photo shoot where we are told the booking would only be confirmed with 100% up front payment, the full payment was made to secure the booking however due to issues with a client we had to cancel the event 5 days before the shoot. Rory Lewis Photo Studio advised us that they would be keeping 100% of the fee paid although it was possible for the studio to resell the space. As a business we understand that a percentage of the fee paid would probably have to be withheld however to keep 100% of the fee paid is totally self seeking and uncooperative. Bijoux Hen Parties work with numerous photography studios throughout the whole of the UK and Rory Lewis Photography Studio is by far the most unhelpful photography studio we have come across. I would avoid this company and book with another studio with a much better attitude to clients.

I researched FAR AND WIDE for a photographer to take my photos for my website - and I was SO glad I found Rory. He was quick to reply to my emails, negotiated a good price with me, offered a makeup artist and told me to send him some ideas of shots I like, to use as inspiration. On arrival, Rory was really friendly and professional and despite the fact he had bookings all day, at no point did I feel rushed. And during the shoot, he was really great at showing the photos he'd taken, to give you an idea of what he was doing. By that evening, he'd sent through all the photos, so that I could pick out the ones I wanted retouching, and I received the finished products within 2 weeks. Would definitely recommend.

Great portrait course at Calumet in London. Really practical course with lots of light set ups, backed up with good notes (with diagrams) emailed out by Rory after the course. I would definitely recommend one of Rory’s courses to anyone wanting to improve their photographic skills.

Excellent photography workshop. We went through 8 different light set ups starting with a single light source and ending up with two light sources with the tightest control of the light. There was a lot to take in and was very happy with the photos I took. The breadth of the material covered was excellent. Very pleased to have attended. Thanks Rory!

In one word "Inspiring" Rory was open to and encouraged all questions, which were answered in detail. Rory shared his extensive lighting knowledge in addition to how to bring out the character in a portrait subject in a fun. informal, enjoyable manner. Would recommend this course to any portrait photographer wanting to improve their craft

The entire experience went perfectly. The shoot was set up promptly and easily. I was comfortable immediately after arriving and found the space perfectly set up. After being given a large space and amount of time to prepare the shoot began and throughout I was shown the photos and given great and easy to follow instructions. The end result was brilliant. You are given the choice of all the photos and the final edited pictures are incredible. Overall fantastic experience.

I am really grateful to Calumet for inviting Rory Lewis to give this seminar. I learned a great deal, and found myself with a range of valuable lighting setups, and several good shots of each one. The model was lovely, and amazingly patient with Rory's amateur crew.

Just back from a portraiture workshop with Rory Lewis. What a fabulous experience. To have access to such talent, such a studio facility and such a model was a privilege. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rory's workshops.
