I bought my first one in Oct 2010 - after 6 months the element stopped working - JML replaced the whole oven under guarantee - the replacement has been working until yesterday and the fans packed in - I contacted JML who said it was out of warranty and couldnt help and suggested I contacted an electrician and advised the fan cant be bought seperately - and mentioned they did offer a 3 year extended warranty but I didnt take them up on the offer - and they were sorry but couldnt help - I mentioned electrical items like fridges, washing machines etc should last more than 1 year and you shouldnt have to 'pay' for extended warranties. The whole family used it daily - its being missed already! I will go out and buy another and will probably pay for the warranty in view of the comments on here!

I have just had this over the past 18 months and was very disappointed to realise that it has a very short lifespan - and as a result of that it is not good value for money. My boyfriend is on his third one after the same period so they are not realiable - luck of the draw really I would say. The glass container can become very hot, during and after use, and can be slippery when handling with wet hands namely when being washed so care has to be exercised when it is being held or on the move generally. It can easily chip when knocked and during washing. As a plus, it cooks food quickly, very well and works out cheaper than conventional oven but had I known about the short lifespan would not have purchased one and will not be bother with a replacement. I am writing to the company to ascertain whether new cover can be bought but I doubt it.

I repair electrical equipment including JML halogen ovens, the problem is getting spare parts, JML don't manufacture any thing and only badge them, they have no interest in suppling parts for any of their products. I have even tried to contact the manufacturers in China who do not want to know unless you place an oeder for 10,000 units!! I would recomend not to buy anything from JML as they are only interested in selling a product with no after service!!

Like many others, I bought a JML Halogen Oven and just after the guarantee ran out, the oven fan unit gave up. The halogen bulb would still function, but with no air movement, the bulb would switch on and off within seconds. It went to the tip, and until the Halogen Oven durability is sorted out, I won't be buying another one. While it worked, I liked it, but forking out £50 ish for something that lasts just over the year doesn't make good sense.

I bought my jml halogen oven in june 2010 and was very happy with it until march this year when the fan stopped working. I contacted jml and they had the oven picked up and sent me a new one. So far so good, until the other day the replacement oven stopped working. Contacted jml again only to be told that the replacement oven was only covered under the first ovens guarantee.Surely a new oven should come with a new guarantee.Needless to say I will never be dealing with jml again.

I received my jml oven as a present. I used it for Sunday lunches most weeks and thought that it was brilliant. I was really disappointed when 13 months later the thermostat broke. We cannot find a replacementand we were shocked at the poor quality of the parts used. At a time when we recycle and reuse to save this planet, it makes no sense to have to buy new and not able to make a cheaply priced repair. This would be the true recycling.

Bought a JML Halogen Oven just over a year ago and was absolutely delighted with the performance and the results. Perfectly suited for cooking for two people, extensions are now available if more volume is needed. Great to be able to see the food inside without having to open the lid. Everything cooks well - pastries, casseroles, roast, fish. Relatively easy to clean. So, the idea behind a halogen oven is great. BUT! The electrical design of the JML halogen oven totally spoiled my initial positive impressions once the halogen element blew up and I had to change it. I ordered a new element, thinking it should be a piece of cake changing it myself, since its life was obviously about a year, and one would have to replace the element that frequently. But I was on for a very unpleasant surprise... First, there are no instructions in the manual for how to change the element, which is no wonder, as it has quite clearly not been designed to allow changing! So, I had to start searching for information on-line from the forums, and, eventually, to figure it out myself. Second, it turned out that you have to basically take the whole lid apart, fighting sticky clips, tight nuts and bolts, cables preventing you from properly separating and putting the lid sections out of your way, etc., but only to find out you cannot simply disconnect the cables of the old element and connect the new one because the cables are not fitted with connectors or terminals but are permanently soldered, or otherwise bound, with other cables and isolated with permanent irremovable caps! So, I actually had to cut the cables of the old element and make my own connections with the cables of the new element... I lost good two hours of my time to sort that out, using knowledge and a lot of tools which not everybody would readily have at home. I now know that I can by a whole new lid for about 20 ponds, but that is not a very green solution - we already generate too much rubbish on this planet. I don't know whether other brands of halogen ovens have a sensible design solution for changing the halogen element, but if there are such, I would definitely recommend a halogen oven of that brand to my friends. I would not recommend a JML one though, unless someone finds joy in exercising their electrician's skills every time they have to change the element.

We are just going through the same agony. Hubby has disassembled the unit and taken off the plastic caps and unfortunately the groups of wires have come apart and he is not sure which one to put with which one in the new element. Having gone through it all yourself, Desita, can you help??? Would be very grateful as I am lost without it. We live in Spain and probably can't get a replacement lid easily or would go that route.

At first I was really impressed with this. After a few months I wiped the top with a damp cloth. The numbers rubbed off - obviously they had used water-based paint. Emailed Sensio at the weekend, who were most helpful. Ask for a refund or exchange at Argos. Decided not to, as the numbers will obviously wipe off again - can't face constant car journeys to Argos for replacements. Two or three weeks later the time control knob broke. Emailed them again. This time it was ignored. Hate publishing poor reviews, but the product is badly made.
Otherwise it cooks fine. Using it now for my supper. Will replace with a better one in a few weeks.

I bought one of these thinking it would make my life easier. How wrong was I. Firstly, it takes up space on the work surface and gets in the way when not being used, so definately don't buy if you have a small kitchen. Secondly, cleaning it is a real pain as my sink just isn't big enough to fit the bowl in. Thirdly, it really isn't big enough to cook a proper meal for more than a couple people, and unlike a real oven you have to cook everything together. So no good for doing stuffing/yorkshire puddings at the sametime as your roast.
Forthly, the claims for energy efficiency are bogus because they don't take into account the real cost of ownership.
I wont be buying another one.

My hallogen oven from JML just died on me yesterday wait for it after only 13 month so out of guarantee. I loved this oven but i will definitely not buy another from JML as I even think they are overpriced to start with. It was my husband that bought me it as a gift.I now would not trust another one as such a short lifespan and definitely not recommend it to anyone.

My JML Halogen has just died of a blown bulb element. I have had it for 2 years and loved every moment of using it.I thought I would send for a replacement bulb as advertised, but my husband has tried all ways to remove the old bulb, but so many screws etc etc to remove. I phoned JML and they said it should be an electrician that does it. Just not worth the repair cost and bother, so very sadly I have scrapped it. I can't possibly do without one, but afraid the next one will not be JML. 2 years is fine so long as one can replace spares easily.

When new its a great item to have in the kitchen. Infortuneately like all good things, the JML Halogen Cooker doesnt last! If the lamp element blows its virtually impossible to strip down and rebuild the cooker, a neat trick of rusty metal prevents the fanblades being removeed from the motor shaft which in turn prevents the motor housing being dismantled, which means you cannot change the lamp anyway! On their own web-site JML have not published their own reviews since October 2010! JML customer service will only politely inform you that if you contact them on a 0845 number they will take your card number to pay £9.99 for a replacemnt filament that mister average will not be able to change anyway. In addition to this, our cooker exploded, not due to the element but to insufficient insulation on the filament cables in the area where the cables pass from the lamp to inside the upper casing. Buy a cooker now and I'll bet that within 13 months you will have a large empty pirex dish as the only evidedence of ever having a halogen cooker! If you bought one 12 months ago, be prepared to say goodbye to it!

My halogen oven has worked well and been a boon for 2 years. I never used the ordinary oven. It has saved on my fuel bills. HOWEVER the fan is now making noises which indicate it will fail soon and JML just DO NOT WANT TO KNOW. There is no arrangement for servicing. If it was within its guarantee they would take it back throw it away and give me a new one - BUT after that - forget it! That's what comes from buying stuff made in China! Pity - as the idea is a good one.I wish I had known they were not repairable..no local electrician will touch it. Update from reviewer: I have also found something of interest about why these halogen ovens go phut. On another review site someone said: I have read other reviews and have noticed a number of complaints regarding rust appearing around the inner workings of the heating unit resulting in failure. The rusting - (corrosion) - is a result of the user failing to remove the heating unit (lid) once the food has finished cooking. This is most important and to be fair, the instructions do tell you to remove the lid once cooking is complete. Whilst the unit is in operation, very hot DRY air is circulating within the cooker. Once the timer has switched the unit off, hot dry air is no longer circulating. Instead the cooked food starts to release moisture in the form of steam. Steam is not good for the halogen oven. Get the lid off and allow it to escape. That is very useful to know I think!

My husband wanted me to try this one out and that is why I am on here.To see exactly what others this of it.I agree with you, that it is a useful piece of knowledge to make sure the lid is removed after it shuts off.Even if they do state it in writting.I will be sure to transfer the meal from the oven to a dish before I serve it.Thank you for the information.

I love my halogen oven when it works!
Do not buy a halogen oven from the telegraph shop from Easylife Group Limited!
The fan has broken and had to be replaced twice and now the bulb has broken.
I sent it back and despite having proof of postage they quibbled that I had sent it. I had to go to all the hassle of emailing my proof of postage.
This time I emailed on the 8th September 4 emails later I get a response to say they will send another, it took them till the 24th of September to reply and they have said they will send me another, but nothing has arrived. In total I have sent about 21 emails attempting to get them to replace the faulty parts.
The oven is great if it works, but the company are a nightmare.'

I have had the JML oven for nine months when the glass lid shattered during cooking. JML expected me to send it all back and pay postage at the post office, before they would send a replacement. Its too dangerous to send broken glass still attached to the motor through the post and they refused to collect it. I have loved this oven and bought another one but it will be he last from JML.If it costs £60 to keep replacing it,its not worth the money.

bought 2 ovens as I have a bad back and cant bend down as with an ordinary oven. These ovens seemed ideal, cooking took a lot longer than stated and I often burned myself as it gets very hot. Just after a year the glass lid of one shattered and collapsed into the food. I got in touch with the company as it was a direct purchase but they were not interested even though I could have been seriously injured as the glass shattered, they admitted it was a fualt but still did nothing, the other one I had bought has now died on me. It is the worst product I have ever purchased. STEER CLEAR IT IS DANGEROUSE.
