Had this for xmas and I love it. No more waiting in the morning for the kettle to boil, just press the button and off you go. As long as it carries on working as it is at the moment I'll be well pleased.

written by Crastergirl on 12/12/2009

The Breville Hot Cup... I'd wanted 1 of these for AGES! Got it home, all excited, but... it took what seemed ages to boil, then when dispensing water it's INCREDIBLY noisy, it could be heard from garden! I then went on to research the product, came across this site, and see that everyone is saying the same about the noise, so I guess mine is not faulty. Ignore what everyone is saying about dispensing too much, we have a cupboard full of mugs here, and it is quite literally a standard mug size of boiling water, with enough room for milk! I'm going to keep it, as £20 knocked off it from S'burys. From what I read, the competitor's one has issues with the water temperature.

AAAArggghhh its useless . I have only just bought it and its going back.
Only fills half a mug then have to wait for it to boil again to fill it to the top, then it overfills. Useless useless useless. There rant over going to get my moneyback.

The Breville Cup is a standard high pressure water boiler like a pressure cooker.
I don't know what the reviewer was looking for, a cement mixer bowl maybe ?

The "Cup" is on test 33+% cheaper to run over 5 cups than a standard jug kettle.
Jug 155 watts
Cup 95 watts......
In my book thats a saving of 33% in electricity costs.

After reading reviews on The Breville Hot Cup I had a few doubts as to it's suitability.
I love it!!!
Unlike the Tefal version, it heats the water to boiling point, a bit noisy but so fast that it isn't a problem.
The fact that the water tanks holds more than 1 mug is useful.
With the correct size of mug there is no problem with leaking water.
I have now ordrered another for my Father from Sainsburys who have it on special offer.
It will be my Christmas present of choice for several people

brilliant idea for a kettle but has a severe design fault with the drainage system to the drip tray, drainage channel is no-where near the drip tray causing a large amount of excess water to leak over work tops, we did try plugging the holes with blue tack to stop this but the water still seeps out. I thought I could manage with kitchen roll wrapped around the base but kind of defeats the purpose of the stylish looking kettle. I expected more from a £60.00 kettle and I have reverted back to my £4.00 one from tesco's

I boughgt this Breville Hot Cup because I have joint problems and it's brilliant except that the automatic lid is not so automatic as I have to pull the lid up and that defeats the object of buying this item. I have returned my hot cup for replacement while it is under guarantee but what happens when this runs out? I am in the process of returning my month old one and will probably get my money back and go back to the old style kettle which is not what I want.

So far I think this Breville Hot Cup is really good, my cups seem fine, for those who's cup run over, get a bigger cup, or "mug",
I got this as I live alone, and one cup at a time is spot on. Looks good, and does what you need.

★★★★★

written by on 05/09/2009

I am disabled and found lifting an ordinary kettle difficult and dangerous. I love the Breville it solves all my problems and unlike its competitor, my drink is boiling too. A jug is needed for most of my mugs to catch the excess water but that is easily dealt with. No drips, splashing or problems. I would definitely recommend it to others.

★★★★★

written by mikenetic on 27/08/2009

I was a bit unsure as to whether to order this breville hot cup because so many previous reviews all seemed to make the same comment that 250ml of hot water is too much for a tea cup. I have measured our cups and mugs and they are all in the range of 280-350. Because of this I decided to go ahead and buy the breville rather than the Tefal which seems to have a temp issue. I am very pleased we got this item it does exactly what we require, the only complaint is the noise during the dispensing of the hot water, it is quite loud but that is a small price to pay for the convenience and cost saving by not boiling any more water than is really required.

Much as i love the Breville Hot Cup, i have to agree with others it is not so good for people who want milk in their tea and coffee, i have to have a jug at the side of it to catch the water thats not needed, if only it was like the tefal i had when i could stop it when i had enough water

Have had this Breville Hot Cup for 2 months now and like it. 250ml a bit too much for standard mugs if you like to add milk. The resovoir could be bigger too as it needs frequent refilling in our coffee addict house.Very stylish and eco-friendly tho and makes a satisfying coffee maker like noise.

written by proctv on 02/08/2009

love the look and the idea of Breville Hot Cup, but only good for people who dont take milk. would be great if it did 220 mils of water instead of 250 or even have a button you could press to stop the water, we have to have a jug at the side of it at all times for people to catch the water not needed heedless to say work top constantly wet through, dont buy one unless you use pint pots for your tea/coffee!

Basically a the Breville Hot Cup is a TOTAL waste of money.
It ONLY boils 250ml of water at any one time....
OK you might think (OK if you are happy to drink from a tea cup)...But useless if you want a mug of TEA or COFFEE, as it will fill to 3/4s full.
Try to stop it up & it will spill over!!

I will go back to my TEFAL Quick Cup kettle which allows you to control amounts of water.
(This does have its bad points too...(Thats why I bought the Breville)...DOH

Very pleased with the Breville Hot Cup at first one month ago but now has to be pressed on up to six times before it delivers the water, taking it back to Currys tomorrow.

Have just bought this after my existing quick cup from T***L only started producing luke warm water. The Breville hot cup is fantastic, it looks good especially when working as it glows a blue colour and at last the water is boiling hot so no more luke warm cups of tea and it's fast and energy efficient.

★★★★☆

written by fruitmungous on 24/02/2009

Breville Hot Cup is brilliant and makes a lovely hot cup of tea, (unlike it's competitor, which is really designed for coffee apparently). I would have given it 10/10 had it not been for the fundamental flaw of having to boil 250ml. Sorry I don't mean to sound like a peaseant but 250ml leaves no room for the milk, so you dribble away the extra bit - very ironic.
If you're going to buy one of these "one cup" water heaters though go for this one :o)

Breville Hot Cup is a great little kettle which looks good in my kitchen. Much better than the other one I had from another brand which never got very hot. Only bad point is Fixed 250 mil quantity.

written by Mona2060 on 21/01/2009

It great when your in a hurry and its very safe. I have two young children and I don't have to worry about them knocking me or any boiling water splashing on them from an ordinary kettle. It looks very stylish on the worktop and looks even better when the light is on The only gripe is that the quantity of hot water it delivers cannot be altered but that is not a major problem as you just buy larger mugs!
Before buying this product I like to research into what people think of the product. I have read many mixed reviews about the product and was not sure whether to buy it or not. I decided to take the plunge and just buy it and I am sooo glad I did as I love it.
