I have bought from GAK several times and each time I am very impressed with the communication and service. The Guild 1512e I bought happened after reviewing several other makes. Guild came out top on so many reviews. With limited budget the 1512e seemed to tick all the boxes. It arrived the day after delivery (Brighton to Perth). Solid spruce top is really high quality - with bearclaw marks on it, which surprised me. The action needed taken down a but but shaving 2mm off the saddle fixed that and I have a most beautiful sounding, rich, resonant 12 string. Just what I wanted. This is Guild's most inexpensive option on 12 strings with the least expensive options, but it tunes perfectly and also stays really well in tune from day to day. I thoroughly recommend.

“WARNING!! DO NOT USE!!!”

I tried to sell an electric guitar and amp using GAK's "sell your gear". It turns out it's a total sham. I negotiated a fair price for the gear with one of their second-hand purchasers. I was sent a link to a cardboard box to package the guitar in, and told that the cost of the box would be reimbursed after the sale. It cost £22.38 to have a cardboard box and some bubble wrap delivered - expensive, but I didn't care because I thought it would be reimbursed. Anyway, I sent my guitar and amp to GAK. The next day, I received an email saying that the pickups on the guitar are broken, and that it's too expensive for them to fix, so my gear will be returned to me. The guitar was perfectly fine before I sent it - I'm sure because I played it one last time before I packaged it up. So now I'm £22.38 out of pocket, and waiting for my (apparently) broken £350 guitar to be returned to me. The second-hand purchaser is no longer replying to my emails, and there's seemingly nobody else to speak to about this. I am convinced this is an organised sham.

“A warning...”

The last three items I've bought from GAK have been faulty and have had to be returned. I posted a fair and reasonable review on Trust Pilot to reflect this, and asked GAK to refund postage for one of the returns. Twice now, GAK have contacted me and said they will refund my costs (which they are legally obliged to do)... if I remove the review from Trust Pilot. Rather than remove my review I will repost this wherever possible to warn others about this dodgy organisation. I'm still waiting for my refund.

“the worst music shop i have ever dealt with”

i ordered a alesis DM kick pedal, i was told by them and well as alesis that it would work on the alesis pad, when it arrived it did not work, i called them they are complete incompetence, didn't have a clue about anything i asked about, they even put the phone down on me and did not answer any of my questions, everything was poo (service), they sent another one (kick pedal) that did not work, after 2 days they finally told me it would not work on my pad (after asking them this before i purchased it!!!), a complete waste of time money and dealing with them, WARNING do not deal in anyway with this shop, you have been warned

I purchased an electric guitar from GAK following a recommendation from another supplier who were out of stock of the model I wanted. I ordered by phone, stock was confirmed and the item arrived via Parcel Force, well packed the next day but one (I ordered after the stated 3pm cut-off for next day). Price was competitive too. Very happy with the service and delighted with the axe!

“A joke of a company”

I've ordered several things from Gak over the years and every single order they've got wrong, from sending my order to the wrong address, charging me for items I haven't ordered and more recently taking money for a product they knowingly don't have in stock and making it awkward to get a refund. I've no idea why I kept going back to them but I will never use this shop again and I urge you to do the same.

“Beware of this company”

If you look through many of the reviews on this site you will see the same issue recurring again and again: GAK accept you payment only then to inform you that 'next day delivery' is not available because the item is not in stock. Annoying enough, but even more frustrating when you discover that it can take up to 7 days to recover your money! The fact that this still happens on a very regular basis demonstrates that GAK is not in the slightest bit interested in the ever-increasing number of bad reviews because there are always enough gullible people to keep them in business. I needed some studio monitors urgently for a very important recording session which was all arranged, involving quite a number of people. Even though the (Adam A7x) monitors were advertised on the GAK website and available for next day delivery, they only had one monitor in stock. I might have been able to salvage the situation but, you guessed, they had blocked my money, so I was unable to re-order elsewhere for 6 days when the money was eventually released. As a consequence, the recording had to be abandoned. There response was that I could wait for over two months until the speakers came back in stock, while they hung on to my money: outrageous!! What is more, even though they have now changed the website to 'available for order', it is well known that Adam Audio has gone into receivership, so I would advise no one to risk tying up any money in an order for something that might never arrive. Strange that GAK don't mention this rather important detail: but why would they, that's their way of doing business. Obviously they will treat this review with the contempt they treat all the others, but hopefully this will warn one or two people off of wasting their time and money with this company.

“Best Service Helpful and Speedy.”

Online Shopper here! I have ordered a few times fro GAK and I have to say I have never had a problem with the service. Just an example of how good the service is: Not too long ago I ordered some monitors and an audio interface. They responded via email notifying me that the speakers had been sent but the interface was not in stock. I rang to query and asked to swap for a different model (slightly more pricey) and they agreed with no hesitance and did not charge me the extra due to the "inconvenience" (not much of an inconvenience as I got a better deal out of it). They were very apologetic and helpful. The interface arrived the following day. Also the website is pretty good, they have a great range and are almost always the cheapest for the equip I need. And you can buy some ex demo stuff for a bit cheaper. Happy Happy Happy and the product is great. Good job GAK

“Avoid.”

After i ordered i received an email notifying me that the item wasn't in stock and there would be a 6 week wait. Their reply started with this: "Please note we have not completed the payment for this order so you have not been charged yet" Then proceeded to tell me this: "However the payment has been suspended for seven days to give you the time to contact us and discuss your options. If we do not hear from you within seven days the suspension will be cancelled and the funds will be returned to your account." So, they haven't taken the money and they have? I will never buy anything from them again.

“The Do The Extra Mile!!!”

I thought to write this review, because I have been a customer of GAK for few years and never, ever, had a problem with them. In fact, I was only surprised every and each time I got on the phone with them enjoying a further discount (sometimes symbolic, some surprisingly big) and free postage. Recently I had a mid (£600ish) buy from them. I want to mention at that point, there have been over a dozen buys from GAK, I got everything next day and no problems with couriers (FedEX is Quality). Unfortunately, I have had a personal issue that kept me away from my new buy (and still does). Allow me to not go in detail of my problem or my request. I will however tell you, GAK or any seller, would not be obliged to accept my request. Not only they did, but they did it easy as if they were family, and I selected the word very carefully here. Without lengthy queries and an amazing understand and trust to me, they helped me to solve my issue, that truth is had nothing to do with the actual item, but rather with my own personal circumstances, what is not even music related! People, tend to use the review power only when they are not happy. If you take the time to read about top selling products and top sellers in known online marketplaces, you will see there is always few people who not happy using the 1 star rating. This gets its weight from the eye of the beholder. But service, polite sellers, people who are willing to understand, to help, personal circumstances are beyond the realm of rating. I would say, GAK, and not because of the latest experience I had, but have been and will be to my book, the one stop I know I can buy and have peace of mind, when at the same time I will enjoy a smile and in some cases a good discount. Keep up the good work guys! Thank you!

Same old story, bought an item online, they took my money, then got an email saying out of stock. Contacted them for my money they took, they said it would take 7 days to repay me!, what a shocking, disgusting service, never again, going back to ebay or PMT. Why dont they check before taking peoples money. I have to sit here now waiting for them to pay me! Absolutely unreal - AVOID

“They seem not to carry Stock”

I purchased over the phone asking specifically if they had my item in stock since i was in urgent need of it. They confirmed they did, took my card details and money then the item did not arrive next day as promised. I chased it and they said there was a mistake and did not have the item but could get it to them overnight and to me the day after. Still nothing arrived. I had to phone them again despite them sayhing they would ring me. I got a not so polite a response from the sales guy. I think these guys operate on a largely drop ship basis. If you need your item urgently or want professional and polite customer service DO NOT BUY from these. This has been my experience. Will not be buying from here again. A total let down.

“DON'T ORDER FROM GAK because they sell stuff they...”

I have ordered an item from GAK early MAY, with the promise that it will be delivered within few days. It's nearly end of July and I do not have the item and neither I or GAK can tell me when it should arrive. GAK does not care, does not take any action to resolve, forget about any help or proper information. Ideally they keep quiet and only when you contact them they will advise about postponed deliveries over and over. If your stuff is urgent, FIND DIFFERENT VENDOR!

“Worst ordering yet!”

Hi, I bought a guitar online from GAK.com I was told it was going to arrive a week after the order. I received an email a few days later saying it was delayed, A few weeks later again I received another email saying it was delayed again(Because none in stock). I called up and was told it was going to arrive in 2 weeks! I was not pleased with the results what I got given. So I cancelled my guitar. GAK should not sell guitars they have not got, they wasted my time and money. I was not pleased with the results! Overall the customer service was excellent telling me everything I needed to know. “Amazing Customer Service”

I went into the store to try out a couple of guitars, and the staff were friendly, asking me about what i play, what sounds i like ect. One after an other, they brought me different guitars relating to what I wanted, not hesitating to bring me a Gibson or the like. After about 15 guitars and 2 hours of playing, I found the guitar I wanted. I spotted a very small dent on a pickup, and the shop assistant gave me £50 off of the price of the guitar. Afterwords, i was looking at cables and one of the guys gave it to me for free! I would recomend these people to everyone for their exellent customer service, and the feeling you get when you are in a room decorated with expensive guitars! The bad point is that there is so much to choose from, I spent a lot of time playing... P.S. Their website is also very informative, I recommend that you find what you want on the site then visit the store.

I headed into the GAK shop to buy a Jazz bass. I knew what I wanted (I thought) and only wanted a quick try before parting with my money, but the shop attendant was only too happy to let me try out other instruments to make sure I made the right choice for me. He asked me questions about style and sound, and made suggestions on the back of that. I didn't make a purchase on the day, but when I came back in several weeks later to purchase he not only remembered me, but remembered the instruments we'd discussed. A great service from a great shop.

“Never again, stick with Thomann”

Ordered an Epiphone Texan and paid for it on Saturday, I was told it would be delivered on Tuesday. It never turned up. When I spoke to customer service they said it was because of bad weather and couldn't get rid of me quick enough. I then phoned back for a refund and was told that there had been an error on the order and the wrong guitar had turned up. To make things worse they said I wouldn't get my money for another 4 days so I can't order one from Thomann, also the only reason I ordered from GAK was because I needed it before the weekend for a gig. Extremely dissapointed

Ordered the same guitar from Thomann this morning at 07:00 and by 10:30 had a text to say that the order had been shipped, good old German efficiency hey. Oh and £10 cheaper than GAK.
