“Don't expect help in an emergency”

★★☆☆☆

written by e_molly on 08/07/2011

I ride a 125 Kawasaki Eliminator to commute every day (not bought from Fowlers) and all is usually fine. Unfortunately I broke down on a morning commute on a busy roundabout after my chain came off the rear sprocket, I thought I'd lucked out because the roundabout was right next to Fowlers, I had a go at putting the chain back on but the tensioner was out, so I legged it round there to ask for a bit of help. Being a damsel in distress (I was a bit shaky after losing control of it) I thought if I could at least get someone to help me get it off the roundabout and parked up it would be great, I didn't fancy backing it into traffic and running it across a busy main road on my tod. I was told by the service desk that they already had other bikes lined up for work that morning so couldn't help. I said all I needed was a bit of muscle to help me move it and they told me to wait an hour and someone might be able to help me. They could see my bike from their showroom window and still couldn't ask one of the shop lads to help me move it. I thought being a biker in a bike shop in need of some help, someone might have given me a hand but apparently not. Fowlers are overpriced and obviously their service doesn't make up for it. Their selection of secondhand bikes is way too limited and they don't seem interested unless you want a £12k Triumph or an R1. Definately won't be going anywhere near again not even to laugh at the prices!

“Bad experiences on multiple occasion”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/07/2011

Workshop dept - Very bad experience. They failed a load of MOT things that I feel should have been advisories and then tried to charge for double work on some of them. (For example charging an extra £100 todo front wheel bearings when they are already doing headstock bearings for which they have the wheel off the bike and on the bench anyway). Tried to charge £200 to fix a minor exhaust leak that took me 45 minutes in my garden to replace the gasket on. Their total 'quote' was ~£1600 and I rejected it took it home and did everything in 1 day for £400 of parts and MOT'd it again somewhere else no advisories... two of the things failed and advisoried I didn't even change and they passed at the independant MOT station... Sales dept - Tried to go in and buy a new R6. Salesman I spoke to was very arrogant, condescending, misleading and pushy before I even had a chance to tell him anything... ended up walking away and am going elsewhere. The attitude was incredible. They also rarely bother responding to emails. Parts dept - Have used them about 10 times and could not fault them - just thought I'd mention that as it's not all bad! Will never ever buy a bike or put a bike into their workshop. It is a shame as I live locally and it is the most convieniant and comprehensive place to get to.

“Service Prices”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/06/2011

I have just paid £317.00 for a service on my Transalp. This is a 6 month service so in total this year I have paid over £500.00 to Fowlers for servicing on this bike. I also own a Land Rover Freelander and I pay less for a service on that car than I do at Fowlers for the Transalp. I think Fowlers should review their prices as at these prices I certainly will be going elsewhere !

“Went down here today to look at mopeds for my son....”

Went down here today to look at mopeds for my son. Quite happy to buy one plus all the gear so looking at spending £3000+ but to be honest the salesman was so dismissive and lacking in knowledge we gave it a swerve. Arrogant and uninterested. Very different from Frasers in Gloucester who were welcoming and knowledgeable, so we'll go there (cheaper too!!).

After sales/service dept is awful. You stand there on arrival whilst they look at their computers and talk, ignoring the paying customer. Just got my bike back after 2 weeks in their service. Took them 3 months to sort out a paint chip which was done just before l collected it. I ask for it to be serviced aswell whilst it was there.Picked it up today, not serviced, as they were too busy and would try and do it in a few days. Meanwhile the train/bus fares are eating into my pocket.
They'll never see me again.
p.s The sales guy was ok, l think it's the service dept being godlike!

Bought a new ymaha r1 they were good till after I paid then the service went down hill they didn't fit the alarm properly and screws were left loose. When I informed them about this I was told to F*** off. I had to remit the alarm my self. When the bike went back for a recall I watched the mechanic do w huge wheel spin down the road. I went in to complain and was told to stop being stupid.
I will never bye a bike from fowlers again or have any work done on my bike there and would not recommend fowlers to any one.

Just bought a new bike from Fowlers, and I can't reccomend them too highly, excellant service during and after the deal was done. Huge choice of new and second hand bikes. Also clothes and accessories.

This review stands out like a s(uss)ore thumb!!!

Glad I read these reviews I wont ever send a penny their way. No excuse for leaving a biker in distress outside the front doors
