“Very happy dog”

★★★★★

written by utrigg on 04/04/2015

Our Dog hurt her paw the day before we were to board her. Worried, we rang Royans and they assured us that they would look after her...and they did! Every member of staff we met seemed to have a genuine love of dogs. Cheeka was very happy there and well looked after. Would definitely recommend Royans to others.

“Best decision ever!!!”

★★★★★

written by Gmb_angel on 30/03/2015

I was thinking about training my dog for a while. I came across Royvon dog training on social website. After reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. Best decision ever! From the first stage (phone enquiry) to the last, staff is very nice, friendly and professional. Angel (choc lab) was very happy during her stay there and she learned a lot. Big big difference after the 3 weeks training. I would recommend Royvon definitely! Thank you to all team members!!!

“Excellent practical training”

★★★★★

written by wylescl on 29/03/2015

It was very useful to get some additional training for my nine month old puppy. He was much better on the lead. A lot less pulling and much more aware of what he was supposed to be doing. I had always struggled with my 'down' command but this improved dramatically after his training. His recall had also improved. My dog learnt what it was like to have someone in control most of the time. I also feel the socialisation with other dogs is a very good experience. Overall his responsiveness and behaviour had greatly improved. Thank you.

“Buddy, Dolly and David's Makeover”

★★★★★

written by DMLEJones on 15/03/2015

We were absolutely amazed at the change in our dogs' behaviour. We had experienced aggression from our dogs to other dogs and the thought of even taking them for a walk was a nightmare. We have been trained in the techniques to use and now it is down to us to apply them consistently. We were very hesitant about sending our dogs away for 3 weeks but it is the best thing we have done. The dogs mixed with other dogs and we were able to watch their progress on a daily basis with the photos on Facebook and the website. Seeing them walking through a busy town centre was unbelievable and a sheer delight; it was hard to believe that these were our dogs. We have spend a lot of time and money with other dog trainers both in groups and in one to one sessions but we can honestly say that Royvon are the only ones who have made a difference. We would highly recommend them and we are delighted that we have now found a place that we are happy to leave our dogs when we go away or need refresher training. A very big thank you to all at Royvon!

“Agility Classes”

★★★★★

written by ToriByrd on 01/03/2015

I enrolled my puppy for the puppy shaping and later for the foundation course and was delighted when Royvon introduced agility classes. These have been a huge success both for my dog and myself. The class has been taken by a very professional trainer with each week's tasks clearly having been planned in advance. I found the theory at the beginning a bit difficult but later understood how necessary this was in guiding my dog as he goes round the course. I am enjoying the activity enormously now that my dog ( and I!) have to go round a course with various " obstacles" like the see saw,the A frame and the tunnels. The trainer makes each week varied and interesting and at all times explains very patiently what we are to do - more than once if necessary. I thoroughly recommend the course to all,it is great fun.

“Very pleased with the results !!!”

★★★★☆

written by Caroline.Crook on 28/02/2015

Just want to say a big thank you to by the person I dealt with and all the Royvon team. Xena our 15 mth Lab x Mastiff spent a total of 4 weeks at the Surrey Kennels doing the behaviour modification course, she has fear issues which causes her to become aggressive when she feels threatened by dogs. The training has made her a lot easier to handle when she's on the lead and we can keep her calm when she's approached by strange dogs. He has truly worked wonders with her and given myself and my partner the tools and confidence to carry on the training.

“One happy Dog”

★★★★★

written by lucylu14 on 26/02/2015

Oliver initially stayed on the 3 week training package due to a behaviour issue. The training went very well and also gave us the confidence to deal with day to day behavioural situations that we may have encountered and many months later we are all in control on any situation. Following on from the training we now use Royvon to board Oliver when the situation arises, this can be anything from a one night stay up to a 3 week holiday and have done so on several occasions, he is always happy and seems very settled and the Staff are second to none. The added bonus of being able to see photos of your dog via Facebook while on your vacation are very welcoming and it is always a delight for us to look at these pictures which are taken during "Dog playtime" The only slight critisism i have is that the admin side of Royvon needs improving, booking aknowledgement can be slow and phones unanswered, i would like to think that this is because the main focus is on the dogs, however at times it is frustrating and needs addressing. Other than this, i would recommend Royvon to everyone.

“Royvon helped my dog with socialization”

★★★★★

written by on 24/02/2015

Our dog has had several stays at Royvon, starting in November 2013 when we moved to the UK. We had problems with him barking and pulling when we encountered other dogs during ours walk. Since he's had several stays at Royvon, he's much calmer and nicer with other dogs. Boarding at Royvon really helped his socialization. We used the pet taxi and he was always happy to go with the driver to see his "friends." It was comforting to us to know he was happy and getting to play. We enjoyed seeing his photos every day on the Facebook page. We are leaving England but wouldn't hesitate to recommend Royvon for boarding.

We turned up at Royvons the 2nd time for Loulou and Jake and wondered if the dogs would recognise where they were and how they would react..... It was all positive Lou was wagging her tail and Jake was getting very excited! We love been able to see them in photos on FB enjoying their exercise and socialising with other dogs.We have booked them in for the summer and Christmas and we have every confidence that they will be well looked after. Many thanks to all the staff.

“My Akita trained for dog aggression”

★★★☆☆

written by FluffyAkita on 17/02/2015

I must say this school looked after my dog very well during the four weeks he was being trained for dog aggression, and his coat was immaculate; I had never seen it so well kept. They give you 6 months backup, and I very soon started to encounter dog issues so I emailed the dog trainer and it would take her days to get back to me. That was a crucial time to have backup support and quick answers to the problems, and as this carried on for some time I became very frustrated and annoyed waiting for a response. I did request the trainer to pay me a visit to help me deal with certain situations on my dog’s territory, but she said I had to go back to the school for a lesson first. As I live a distance from the school they were going to arrange to pick me up and take me back by taxi but this was going to cost £100. I could not afford that amount of money for one lesson, so I had to decline. So my experience with the backup service was very poor, and I felt that after the fees had been paid they were not too interested in me anymore. Its one thing getting a dog trained, but a lot of help is needed afterwards, and they know that which is why they offer backup help, but it just was not there. After sometime I gave up on this school and for a long time struggled alone but now I have met a retired Fire Service Search and Rescue Dog Handler who charges pocket money to help me, and he has given me more help in one session than this school ever could. He is showing me how to handle my dog when different dogs approach him each day, and he knows how to calm him when he becomes fearful. His whole life is dedicated to training dogs with problems with great success. At the school my dog only met the same dogs in the school which was not a bad thing, but they needed to take him to the nearby parks to help him overcome meeting new dogs. Looking back I am very disappointed plus a lot of money was wasted on this course with zero benefit because the backup just wasn’t there.

Comment from Darren James (CEO)

We are happy to hear the feedback regarding the successful training of your dog and his condition when he left us. With regards to the aftercare, we can only offer assistance if the owner is present as we need to teach correct handling of the dog. We stress from the beginning that this is a key aspect of the course and are keen for people to come back to us for the lessons. Unfortunately we cannot provide transportation free of charge especially when it is a long distance.

During the course and also in the follow up sessions that form the aftercare, we take the dogs off site so they can be trained in different environments. There are several parks and town centres nearby that provide a varied selection of experiences for the dog and handler. These skills can then be transferred to other situations when the Royvon trainer is not present.

We are pleased to hear that you have found a solution but would have liked to provide the aftercare sessions to enable you to get the most out of the course.

“Superb training and lots of fun for your dog”

★★★★★

written by PiratesDad on 02/02/2015

My dog is a two and a half year old Doberman Pinscher. He has been regularly to Royvon since he was a puppy. Initially this was a fantastic way for him to socialise with lots of different sizes, breeds, temperaments of dogs and he is very well balanced in his interactions with all dogs that he meets. Subsequently the first rate team at Royvon have trained more specific disciplines and these have all gone extremely well. At the moment we are focussing on etiquette when off the lead at my golf club! He is always very excited to get to Royvon so clearly enjoys himself there and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Royvon has been an excellent resource for us. Their training procedures are first-rate and their boarding care has really come in handy for us when we go on holidays. We have happily recommended them to friends with dogs of their own and will continue to do so in future. Keep up the good work!

“I sent my puppy Reggie (8 months old) to Royvon in oct...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by chicksterette on 16/01/2015

I sent my puppy Reggie (8 months old) to Royvon in oct 2014 for a three week stay and training. I saw lots of pictures of him on facebook but they did not stay in touch with me. I was told that they would let me know regularly how he was doing but they only responded when I contacted them. I went to pick Reggie up and attend the 2hour training. Reggie was very subdued but I thought it was because he had got used to the place and liked being with the other dogs. He looked very thin(he was lean when he went in but nothing like what he came out) We went through the training and Reggie seemed to respond to the trainer. They used a choke collar on him. I particularly asked that he needed to stop jumping up at people, stop chasing leaves and walk to heel. Reggie did not seem to want to respond to me when I got him home and did not get out of his bed. He was choking, had severe diarrhoea and was being sick a lot. It was clear that he had lost a lot of weight during his stay. Everyone who saw him remarked that he had been starved and asked what I had done to him. I took him to the vet. She was shocked and said it is the worse case of malnutrition that she had ever seen. She said he was very very ill and said if it had been a couple of days later I might have lost him. He lost nearly 3kg in weight over the 3 weeks. She ordered tests and prescribed various medicines. He choked every time his lead went tight. He was diagnosed with giardia - a parasite mainly found and contracted in kennels and choking due to the lead being pulled too tight. I voiced my concerns with the man I dealt with who suggested before it was diagnosed as giardia that reggie might have eaten an acorn - which are poisonase to dogs. They have them all around the exercise and training area. The man I dealt with was supposed to contact my vet to discuss matters. He tried once! she has tried several times to call him back but he does not respond. It has taken me three months to get my dog well again and cost me nearly £500 in vet fees!! None of the training has worked. Royvon say you can take your dog back for further training but under the circumstances I cannot do that. So, your company nearly killed my dog. Its cost me £500 in vets fees and over £1000 to board/train him and your training didnt work!!! What are you going to do to compensate me : PAY MY VET FEES AND MAYBE GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY. You have not contacted me to let me know what you intend to do to put things right! Perhaps you will on here!!! Royvon did not even notice that my dog was very ill. They thought he was losing weight so they just fed him more and asked me to buy more food. Surely you knew he had severe diarrhoea!!! Why did you not call a vet or better still MY VET whose number you asked for before he went to Royvon!

I noticed that you have deleted all the pictures during the time my dog was at Royvon from your facebook page too.

The facts are that it does not matter whether you show a video or not.( I see that has been deleted from my facebook too)My dog was perfectly ok when I left him with you and he was very ill when I picked him up. My vet will confirm that. Not once during that time did you tell me you had concerns with his health because you did not even notice he was ill!!

Its taken you nearly 3 weeks just to write the above comment. Its not a sign that you are in any way interested in what happened to my dog

I emailed royvon to inform them earlier but still have had no reply! I also paid for training with my dogs stay but it dosent seem they have trained him at all I was told I would have hand over session to show me what he had learnt when I booked for the day I pick him up which also never happend! The only update I got of him the whole time he was there was the photos they upload to Facebook and the night before I picked him up they sent me email telling me he had a snotty nose

Im not surprised. He still has not contacted me nor offered me any kind of compensation! Its a classic case of he has had your money and thats all he is interested in. He does not care about your dog being ill as he did not care about mine! Your banging your head against a brick wall. Compile your own review. That way their star rating will go down and will eventually end up where it should be - at the bottom of the star rating!!!

I have very similar problems with them, I am currently in dispute with them but it is proving to be difficult as they will not respond with a detailed explanation and keep basically saying the same things.
My impression at this time is that they seem to think if they keep repeating apologies for the same thing it becomes a true reflection of the facts.
Still on going.
But I do not intend to go away very easily and may well start legal proceedings if they do not look to resolve the issue fairly.

“Really helped us out”

★★★★★

written by ninalondon on 16/01/2015

We enrolled our three year old terrier mix on the boarding/training and later on the behaviour modification course. each time he had a brilliant time, socialised a lot and came home calmer. Royvon persevered with a dog that many other trainers had given up on - where other trainers simply suggested constant muzzling or head halters, Royvon helped our dog get to a position of loose lead walking. Now he ignores other dogs on the street, even if they act aggressively towards him. We'll keep bringing him back for top-up sessions - not least because he enjoys it there so much!

“Rosie needed some guidance”

★★★★★

written by RosietheCollie on 12/01/2015

Rosie is a 5 year Collie x rescue dog who didn't interact well with new dogs. we've had her for 4 years and despite weekly attendance at a local dog club for most of those 4 years we couldn't get over the meet and greet aggression towards unfamiliar dogs. (I should mention that she had the same problem with humans initially but we got over that eventually). We decided that it was time to send her away to 'boot camp' and aftr much research settled upon Royvon where she spent 3 weeks last September. Her trainer there has an affinity with Collies and it was clear that Rosie bonded very well with her.It was also clear from the video evidence that whilst with the trainer she had become far more relaxed around 'strange' dogs and most of the other challenges that she found difficult to handle. So from a training perspective I can only say that I wish I'd sent Rosie to them much, much sooner. Unfortunately Rosie's return from the kennels coincided with a series of personal disasters that continuously interrupted my attemts to reinforce the good work so the meet and greet problem has re-appeared (although walking to heel on a loose lead is still vastly improved). This leads me to the one are that I feel Rayvon needs to improve upon. I find meaningful dialogue with the kennels/trainer difficult to achieve. Although I have every confidence in their commitment to training aftercare I find it difficult to have timely converstations with them, particularly via their preferred medium of email. My personal view is that as an organisation they desperately need either to invest in a customer management system that works to the benefit of their customers or to rigorously enforce the use of any system that they might have (this latter applies to all staff irresective of seniority). This gripe aside I'd have no problem recommending them to any recalcitrant Collie owner.

“Good Behaviour training”

★★★★☆

written by on 10/01/2015

My border Collie puppy had some issues with aggressive behaviour towards other dogs. I booked him into Royvon's beahavious modification course (3 weeks) and this really helped. We missed him very much and received regular update emails from the main trainer. We were also able to see photos of him on the facebook account. His behaviour improved tremendously and I had several training sessions with the trainer, which allowed me to continue with the training afterwards. We were happy with the service. His blanket and toy, however, was lost.

“Suki's Training Experience”

★★★★★

written by T.Thacker on 10/01/2015

Suki had a really exiting time during her Behaviour Modification Course. She learnt lots of new ways of doing things. Including interacting with other dogs and people as well. She is a lot more relaxed with people now than she used to be. When I take her to parks and recreation grounds she plays with other dogs instead of barking at them. She also walks to heel much better now instead of pulling all the time. She seemed quite happy at the Kennels and we enjoyed looking at the pictures every evening of her experiences during the day.

“Great boarding but not great training methods”

★★☆☆☆

written by Jumpman on 09/01/2015

This is a great place for boarding for your dog, they provide food and a daily play session with all the other dogs of similar size, have seen the photos and our dog loves it, can't fault them for that. However when it comes to their 'behaviour modification' course, which will cost you in excess of £1000 for 3 weeks, this place is a big big let down. Firstly they state on their own website that they only use positive and reward based training, which is actually a lie, they use slip leads to 'correct' the dog whenever it doesn't do something. This is well known with modern training methods to be cruel and potentially damaging to a dog's neck. Unfortunately we also found that as soon as the dog came home to the environments that stressed him out on a normal day he went straight back to the same behaviour, and no amount of 'correction' could get him to stop, in fact he almost choked badly a couple of times when we used their so called 'positive' training and we had to stop for fear of permanently injuring him. We tried for months to get a home visit from the trainer to address this, only to be told that actually follow up sessions outside of the centre would be at cost and also petrol money! Not what you are told when they are selling it to you. In summary, for just dog boarding great. For specialised training needs a big no no.

I have a 4 year old chiauhau pom cross who hates everyone. We can't have anyone in the house, he's so aggressive it's got to the point where I think we are going to have to give him up for re homing but I'm not sure if he could be. We have a six month old golden retriever. We are pensioners and we find trying to train him in certain issues a bit trying, his recall is great but walking on a lead is a nightmare, he is a terror for pulling and eating the plants in the garden. When greeting people in our home he is so excitable it is a nightmare too, he loves everybody including children but being so excitable he knocks them flying. He loves other dogs but jumps all over them and some don't like it.  In general he needs training. Could anyone let us know the cost we should expect weekly?  Regards

We sent pour 6 month old german shepherd to royvon, and looked at many kennels before we found royvon, which we loved the staff were great and you could see on website she was happy there. Please go and have a look for yourselves, she only had some basic training there as had some nearer home. Our dogs go there every year now as its the perfect place for them. I know bigger dogs pull on the lead ours wear a canny collar around their noses to stop pulling. All puppies do some digging in the garden perhaps she should have some training to learn what he can or cannot do. Best of luck.
