“I have just come back from Bunn leisure for a weekend...”

★★★★★

written by on 04/04/2011

I have just come back from Bunn leisure for a weekend break 1-4 April, well where do i start: I was clearly impressed by everything what a pleasant surprise, we arrived late at night and collected our keys from the pub as the reception was closed. We found our accomodation and it was superb . We had booked the bronze caravan, well it was spotless and really cosy , to be honest i could not take it in. I have been to a few holiday parks and this one is certainly outstanding. There is a big fridge as compared to other holiday parks. The location is superb quiet enough for a relaxing holiday. We stayed at the white horse but we went to West sands for all the entertainment as at white horse it was a bit quiet but am not complaining. There were local shops nearby and entertainment for both children and adults at west sands. My little girl loved every minute she met Selsy, Betsy. Buster and Bella and she loved every moment. The oasis is fantastic we went on the slides in the leaisure pool, sauna, steam room, gym you name it. The entertainment staff for children are brilliant really suited with the Job, pleasant ,welcoming always smiling and they muck about with the kids which is fanatstic. I will go back again and again and again and again. Go see for yourself i could go on forever.

“Booked a caravan in the West Sands park in july 2010....”

★★★★☆

written by on 31/03/2011

Booked a caravan in the West Sands park in july 2010. Caravan was clean and had everything needed including a deck which we had not booked but was lovely to have. The pool was good and the kids loved it, although the life guards were a bit strict, but i guess people would be complaining if they were not.
Daytime entertainment for the kids was fantastic. the shows were entertaining and even though the same show was repeated the following week my lads still went and enjoyed. A special mention must go to the 3 guys who organised the sports and games every day, they were an absolute credit to the park and themselves as they got to know the kids and took time to make them feel welcome. The night time kids entertainment was the only let down for us as at 9.00pm the kids were cleared out of the main club so that bingo could start and the entertainment provided in the side rooms was aimed at pre school kids(musical statues/bumps sort of thing).
Still a good holiday was had by all, think a lot of negative reviews of this place come from the tent campers as the tent site is a bit out of the way.

★★★★★

written by on 03/02/2011

Bunn Leisure is a great place to stay. The evening entertainment is second to none with great acts. There are 3 main clubs, the Viking is themed on Country & Western, the main club at West Sands is the Embassy and there is another on White Horse. There is a regular free bus around the site so no need to drive. The whole place is family oriented and there is plenty to do in the area.
We like it so much we have brought a caravan which is in the Willows on Green Lawns and we go down most weekends.
In Selsey there are a number of places to eat, we use Selsey Chinese and if you are on a tight budget and want to eat out, try the riviera restaurant in Selsey. Cheap but good food.

“overall as holiday parks go bunn leisure is...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 01/11/2010

overall as holiday parks go bunn leisure is passable.it lacks adult activities during the daytime unlike pontins etc.,.so can be boring if confined to caravan in bad weather we dont all want to sit in the pub for hours on end.entertainment in embassy has the odd good turn but the loudness of the music detracts from the show, and can become unbearable, i worry about the effects on young childrens and babies eardrums. the presenters and comperes need training in microphone techniques, they screach and shout into microphone making themselves inaudible.staff are friendly and obliging.on the whole the site and public areas are kept clean considering the numbers of holidaymakers in residence.children love the kids clubs and the quays and soon make firm friends with other children.the weather can be unpredictable and is quite windy most of the time.on the whole the experience at bunn leisure is worth a go at least once, but save hard for your pocket money as the arcade will eat your money up in no time.oh of course the bingo is addictive even if you never play when at home, at least it is something for adults to do.actually it cant be that bad as i bought a caravan myself at beginning of season.

“Last August we went on a last minute break. Just...”

★★★★★

written by on 27/09/2010

Last August we went on a last minute break. Just stumbled upon Bunn Leisure/West Sands on a Sunday afternoon drive after remembering it from the 70's. We enquired if there was any availabilities & we were offered a caravan for £400 for one week. We booked immediately. We had a fantastic week, great staff, just freedom relaxation & fresh air. The kids, aged 7&13 really loved it. Its great coz there are 3 parks, West Sands, White Horse & Green Lawns, all with their own entertainment complexes. Also a free bus & land train to transport you around. We didn't use the car once when there. The local bust servise from Selsey to Chichester goes right into the village linking up with the free bus/Land train service.
Whilst there we looked in the sales office just out of interest and left our names/phone number. This January we were phoned up by them informing us of good value vans. We had a look and bought. We have never looked back, spending most weekend there. My partner was there for all the summer holidays. We then looked into upgrading from out basic van and were so surprised to find a great P/X deal. We therefore upgraded last week. We have met loads of new friends as our neighbours . We cant wait for next season.
Restaurants & entertainment are great, some fantastic cover bands, plus some top originals. Drinks are a little pricy though at the bar.
On the whole, Full Marks to the Bunn Leisure team!!!

I was so impressed with the place i have just bought a caravan onsite. The entertainment staff always seem to be working and they have some of the best singers and dancers going. Would recommened to friends and family

“We booked for a short weekend 6 - 9 Aug 2010. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/09/2010

We booked for a short weekend 6 - 9 Aug 2010.
We were taken to our pitch in the camping field as we were not allowed to have a normal pitch because of the size of our tent, there were people with the same tent on the normal and electrical hook up pitches!!!
Had a family of GRAND NUMPTIES next to us who were swearing and threatening to kill all of the campsite at 2am but security dealt with them quickly.
The pool is small but adequate. Odd experience in the smugglers restaurant where my father (aged 81) who was visiting could not pay for the meal on his gold credit card because he did not own a caravan on site, no suprises we went out of the site to the local chinese (which was excellent).
As a first experience camping with our children it was not the best place to start.

“I thought it only fair to comment on previous reviews...”

★★★★☆

written by sarahandpaul on 06/09/2010

I thought it only fair to comment on previous reviews as we found what I presume to be the same security man/bouncer very polite and helpful. We had struggled to find seating on one very busy evening and he went out of his way to magic a table and chairs for my family out of nowhere. He seemed friendly enough to others also. On a more general basis, apart from some appalling weather, we found tent areas well lit, showers clean and the food good. Keep up the good work Bunn Leisure and remember - you can't please everyone all of the time, but we were very happy overall.

written by on 03/09/2010

we have just returned from a mid week break and we were pleasently surprised. We booked into a budget caravan due to our finances not being too bright and although the caravan we stayed in was small it was ok and very clean throughout.
The entertainment was top class we had a Dr Who show of which was really good and my 9 year old son loved and photo opportunities afterwards with some monsters from the show at no extra charge, Haven charge you for these photos as they are done with their official photographer.
The following day there was wrestling on and we had made a cheeky request to Bunn Leisure to have them announce our sons birthday and maybe meet the wrestlers. This was no issue and not only did they announce his birthday he got an autographed programme from all the wrestlers, he was over the moon.
The team stars we found are very hard working as we saw them working until way after 11pm and then saw them again the following day all bright eyed at 10am.
All in all i was not expecting a great deal but was very impressed and would certainly go back again

What a fantastic holiday park, Sesley is right on the seaside! We stayed in a platinum grade caravan I couldn't believe how clean & tidy it was. My 4 year old loved the entertainment there was loads to do, make sure you check out the panto & Bunni character shows. The food was lovely & reasonably priced, the place was really clean, the staff were so nice & polite. To top off our week saw Billy Ocean! Thanks Bunn Leisure we will be back!

“My family and I have just returned froM Bunn Leisure....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/08/2010

My family and I have just returned froM Bunn Leisure. Oh My God. What a rip off. We stayed in our own tent so accomodation was good but thats all I can say on a positive note about the place. There was no lighting around the place so walking to the toilet or back to the tent in the dark is hit & miss. The showers are so 'puny' I could actually wee faster. The arcade just eats money so if you go with kids aged between 2 and 12 as we did, your looking at spending about £30 per evening because the kids are so bored with nothing to do that we ended up in the arcades. There is a small park that keeps kids amused for about an hour. Then there is the 'amazing' Fun fair..... So amazing that half the rides dont have lights working, and when we questioned the man that was operating the ride he told us that if they turn the lights on, the ride dont work! Hasn't been updated in years. I went there as a kid and its still the same. The kids slide had so much dirt on you could scratch you name into it and still slide over it without disturbing it. We ate in the burger bar and the food was cold, when it finally arrived. We had to wait for chips as they had run out and had to get some more in. This was 3.15 in the afternoon. We ordered a cornish pasty from the eatery in the club and was asked to go and get some napkins from Costa Coffee as they did'nt have any, this was after she did offer me blue paper towel from a roll!!
Then there is the weather.!!!! Well the wind was so strong it actually splashed strong waves up over the sea wall onto the cars in the car park..
I know this cannot be predicted but the lady in the shop did tell us that its always windy because its at the tip of the south. Oh and the shop!!! As there is aboslutely nothing for children to do, they continually want to spend money on all the tempting goodies and sweets on parade in the shop. Then they all shut at 8pm. So if you get caught short for anything, its tough.
You need to take A HELL OF ALOT OF MONEY with you to this place cos thats all its good for and theres nothing else around.. I'l never set foot there again and would certainly recommend you all to DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!
The only one good thing was the BUTCHERS IN THE VILLAGE. He does great meat............

written by on 22/08/2010

Will someone please tell the bald headed "bouncer" at Bunn Leisure (I'm sure the other very nice chaps doing the same job know who he is) that he is not some sort of god and a little politeness goes a long way. Obsessed with chairs and no hint of politeness whatsoever! I agree with previous reviews that owners are treated somewhat disproportionally to "ordinary" holiday makers. Owners please note that in August these holiday makers are paying upwards of £800 just for a caravan so do deserve some equal treatment! Luckily we rented from a friend, but I am certainly not remotely interested in owning a caravan here or visiting ever again. You can go to Butlins for the same price and have 10 times as much entertainment. Basically the site consists of a large amusement arcade and a swimming pool. Sometimes felt like I was on the set of "Shameless"!

As an owner we dont get treated any different, infact just as bad!! only we paid an awfyl lot of money for the van and continue to pay a lot in fees only to have our van wrecked by holiday makers that asume there staying in a bunn leisure van and think they can treat it as they like

i agree with the owner who wrote the review 26/2/2012, we have found that Bunn Leisure are only interested is getting site fees from the owners as it appears it is easy money, but when you write to them and ask for help in selling the caravan you are ignored, until the date has passed, then you cant get rid of the van and it has already cost you too much.

Went with my wife & two 13 year old girls - not really much to do onsite unless you are into bingo and drinking.

Evening entertainment got very dull after the first couple of nights - basically two or three of the staff singing to a backing track - with poor but loud sound - ie sounded a bit of a mess - + no decent disco for the kids unless you wait till 1130 & can sit thru the sometimes borind entertainment

Platinum caravan living space good - but bedrooms tiny - overall not great

“went with friends and family with ranges of children...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/08/2010

went with friends and family with ranges of children from 6-16- absolutely nothing to do for those ages as the "kids clubs" staff were absolutley terrible- could have done a better job myself. the swimming pool was okay- but you have to ask for the fountain to go on and even then it was for 5 minutes- there is a height restriction for the lazy river- even though the kids pool is aimed at small children- and the changing rooms were so dirty i was almost sick. The sea is right opposite the main embassy complex- its currents are very strong and dangerous- i wouldnt allow the children in without adult supervision at any time- its meant to be a private one mile beach front resort but found the beach was covered in rusting cans, plenty of broken glass, rusting signposts in the sea-i would have thought that if it was a private beach then there would have been lifeguards on duty- especially as the currents are so strong and have been known to be fatal as well but a nice view to the isle of wight. The Staff were extremely miserable and useless and also very young and rude. my daughter found a rusty wall hook- about 2 inches in length- in the bottom of the pool which she stood on- when bought to the supervisers attention- she said the lifeguards dont look at the bottom of the pool- lets hope no-one drowns then. The food was okay- but the burger/cafe place next to the "fun"fair was awful- save your money and get something from the co-op in the village. The drinks in the bar were expensive - 1 alcholic drink and a lemonade was just over £6. The resort is so badly signposted, unlit and the caravans have minute numbers on that we constantly got lost- not much fun when its almost pitch black and coming from the clubhouse with young children.the entertainment was okay in the evening. Apart from the location of the beach and 2 out of the 3 adults winning on the bingo- thats about as good as its going to get- so if you like coming to places that are full of chavvy teenagers with attitude then this will suit you down to the ground. i certainly wouldnt recommend it to anyone or ever go there again.

Just got back from a weeks caravan holiday at West Sands Park and we were very disappointed. The caravan was supposed to be top of the range but it was very basic and not very clean. The staff at the Embassy Club were all so rude, none of them had any manners! We certainly will no be returning or recommending!

written by kmb2271 on 03/07/2010

we stayed in a house for 1 week , the house was first class and no complaints what so ever, arcade as you go into the club so take plenty of spare change with you,There was no kids entertainment throughout the day as advertised on web site when we booked, so very little for the kids to do in the day, as selsey is at the back of beyond, onsite food establishments below average, If you own a caravan here you are treated as royalty ,own bar and seating facilities in the club ,they think they own the place and look at us genuine holiday people like something stuck on their shoe , "Have a word Mr Bunn " Evening entertainment was quite good although we were subjected to the same show twice in our weeks stay, the team stars work hard and deserve there National minimal wage, which is what they probably get paid, At the end of the night as stated on the entertainment guide was late night disco, this consisted of 2 songs then a pushy security guard telling everyone to drink up as it was time to go, although the bar was still open and still serving drinks ???? all in all very dissapointed with our holiday , we paid £650 for 1 week, We will never return to Bunn leisure and certainly wouldnt reccomend it to anyone with young children absolute waste of money

Owners's Response to kmb2271's Review

Written on: 02/08/2010

If you had taken your children to bunn leisure in school holidays you would of found a full entertainment programme day and night.
Has for the caravan owners who are very very fed up with holidays makers causing trouble and destruction and lost of property which we have to pay for which hasnt come cheap over the years, royalty isnt how they would describe them selfs but they are very very much a big asset to the park.
sorry you didnt enjoy your holiday but if you had paid that little bit extra and gone a few weeks later im sure you and your family would have had a great time.

Bunn Leisure Holiday Village is an excellent park, with good facilities.

If you're getting a takeaway avoid the Real Fish and Chips in the park and the Village Chinese takeaway in Selsey, both well below par.

Can't fault the holiday we had took 4 grandchildren ages 5 -11 never had time to get bored psp's and ds's stayed in car too busy to sit and play computers, except 11 year old in "the quays" (club for 11 -17 year olds)
all children were able to play freely as security was very good, all staff very alert to children welfare.

will be going to Bunn Leisure Holiday Village, Selsey again for half term, children already crossing off the days.

children kept so busy we were also able to relax and have fun.
