“Bunch of idiots”

Placed a pre-order for the new Galaxy S3 three weeks ago - changed my mind about the colour so rang to tell them the next day - i.e. still nearly three weeks before the release date at the back end of May 2012. Phone was supposed to be delivered 2-3 days ago but nothing, so I rang again to find out what the problem was - only to be told that they had cancelled the order instead of changing the colour preference, hence no phone. I suppose I could have ordered the phone again whilst talking to them that last time but decided against it - on the grounds that if I'm going to tie myself to a company for the next 2 years they need to demonstrate that they have at least the competence to sell a phone to someone who has taken the time and trouble to phone them up to ask if they can buy one ...

“Cheap, but utterly awful reception”

The only good points are the products offered by Three is cheap and the customer service is quite good. However, the reception is so bad that it doesn't really matter what Three offers since I could not use anywhere near the allocation since the reception everywhere I tried was bad. They could offer me 1,000,000 inclusive minutes - I probably would only be able to use 60 minutes in a month. I am aware that signal strength does vary from place to place, however friends of mine on different networks do appear to have far less trouble getting a signal. By December I will be moving to a different provider so I will be able to make a comparison - watch this space !

“Poor Network and Poor Interest”

DOnt bother with 3. Network is poor anywhere. They claim to have the best 3G coverage- Well thats fine but I buy a phone to call oneone and its no good if I cant get a signal or when I do it cuts out !

I had a damaged sim in 2005 and had to pay £20 for a replacement, even though the old one was broken and not lost?? Then the replacement never came yet the direct debit carried on and Three refused to send out another sim even though they said themeselves that the account wasnt used and no incoming or outgoing calls or texts had been made....After 3 months i wrote to them to cancel and 5 years on they are still trying to get money for the months left in the contract, depsite not having sent a sim to use the phone?

All calls go to an Indian call centre and they dont have any customer service skills and just quote terms and conditions despite them not living up to the contract in providing a sim? Wouldnt send my worst enemy to this joke of a business...

Exactly the same problem in 2006. Replacement SIM never recieved but they were quite happy to keep taking the money. Call centre just kept saying it was sent but couldnt provide proof that anyone had signed for it (assuming it was recorded delivery?).
Contract ended 2 months after complaint and no refund of the missing months or sim charge which was £25 I think.

Robbery by Corporation!

“Since my other phone broke, I decided it was time to...”

Since my other phone broke, I decided it was time to go with another network as Orange was very poor and their TV adverts are embarrassingly awful.

I decided to go with Three Mobile after a friend recommended them, they have a nice website and the PAYG plan seems great value for money - I ordered the sim card with £10 credit which cost £9.99 including postage (I was impressively able to specify a delivery date) the sim arrived on Wedensday however I received a 'Sorry you where out Card' from Royal Fail stating that it was too large for my letter box which I thought was very strange (how big can a sim card be?) turns out it is too large for a standard letterbox which is very strange, so if you work days be prepared to pay a visit to Royal Mail!

Aside from that everything has been brilliant.

“Three Pay as You GO offer a fantastic value for money....”

Three Pay as You GO offer a fantastic value for money. With free Skype calls (that really work) forever, and free 3 to 3 calls, free internet allowance (150mb), free social networking (I never use this but I now is free) valid for 90 days when you top up £10, together with good, cheap, phones (I had a Skypephone 1 and a Skypephone 2 and they are always great)it makes Three the best mobile network available. Great!

First ever review, I have never bothered writing one.. until now!!

I signed up to an 18 month mobile broadband contract with three, big mistake. Whilst in the beginning the service was fine, consistently reaching download speeds of 250Kb - 300Kb per second I was happy, I was often in danger of reaching and passing my monthly bandwidth. Then I hit a snag, the speeds started to be shockingly slow (consistently less than dial up - YES DIAL UP). I thought, I'll just take the USB modem in to a shop and get it replaced, not so..

The first time I took it in they wanted to send it away (to be tested). A week passed and back it came, no problem could be found. I was not impressed to say the least, I took it home and kept plugging away. The modem did speed up and I was getting regular speeds again, till xmas 2009. For 2 months now the speeds have been very slow, in to the shop I went. A sales man sat me down, started typing away on his computer; where do you live (I told him). Oh that area has a good 3g signal there should not be a problem (no s**t sherlock!). he continued, I'm sorry but the modem will need to be sent off, not again this has been done before I said, in that case all we can offer you is an upgrade, you will need to pay an extra £15 per month to upgrade your package.. no thank you.. as I have only got a few weeks left on my contract I just walked out the shop!!

I only hope there is not a problem cancelling, as has been mentioned here!

Note, the modem does occasionaly speed up in the very early hours, which to me points towards a network that simply cannot handle the daily use it gets!

“I'm now in my second 18 month contract with Three....”

I'm now in my second 18 month contract with Three. Like all mobile phone providers they have their ups and downs but on the whole, I get great reception on my phone, their price plans are good value and they do what they say they'll do. Three is the best of a not so good bunch.

They have supplied me with two Nokia 6220 mobiles as an upgrade. As the back of both phones fell off, I returned both and they want to charge me £29.99 to repair a phone which has come straight out of the box. They refused to give me another phone and insist that I am on an 18 month new contract because I accepted an upgrade.

3g is the worst mobile provider I have ever had the misfortune to have been with there are no redeeming points. I have tried to get out of the contract since it elapsed for 3 months. They still send me bills and persue through debt collectors even though the phone does not receive calls and I don't use it. Dealing with the call centre is a joke. Even though they are in breach of contract I still cannot get the call centre to send the pack number to port to another provider. I am now going to take legal action. Warning do not take out a contract with this company!!!!
