“Makes decorating so easy”

★★★★★

written by ElizabethTrent on 23/05/2016

I was a bit sceptical when my mother bought me this system as I intended painting the hallway and dining room myself. I've never painted before and was a bit nervous about the whole thing. However, once I got started the whole job went brilliantly and I was surprised by how fast I managed to get the job done. In the past my ex has done all the decorating and, although he always did a great job, it was quite a messy business and I always had loads of cleaning up to do afterwards. I was really chuffed at how well I did the job and at how tidy it all seemed to be. Minimum cleaning required afterwards, so all in all, this was a great buy. I would really recommend this system to anybody who needs to get some decroating done but doesn't have experience of doing it. It made everything so simple.

“Hit & Miss”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kate1888 on 04/07/2013

Initially with first pod, I thought 'great product' no mess, cleaned as it said it would, just like the demonstration in B & Q. Seemed worth the more expensive paint. My son used it shortly after and it would not work properly - resorted to ordinary roller. When I used again, the trigger snapped. Wrote to Dulux who gave me a credit note for another. Have just used replacement Paintpod and it fails to work - appears to be 'dead' although blue light on. Tried all the troubleshooting suggestions, replacing battery etc etc., still no joy. I give up....and I would not buy another.

Glad to see we not the only people having problems with these. Had same problem from brand new > Got all set up blue light on but nothing ,replaced batteries, nothing !! Phoned company and straight away said they would send a voucher for a replacement, but sounds from above still not going to work !! Have three expensive pots of paint for it as well. So wouldn't recommend pro!duct

“FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!!”

★★★★★

written by grant46 on 07/06/2013

I was considering buying the Dulx paintpod & thought id do a little bit of research before i rushed out to Homebase to buy one, Homebase are selling the dulux paintpod at £64.99, so i was supprised to see Home Bargains were selling the same thing for £14.99 so i ordered one from Home Bargains. Abolulute bargain! So far i've done a stippled(artex) ceiling & not a spot of paint on me or my funiture, trust me i'm always covered, ive done 2 coats on 3 walls & again no paint on me or the furniture, didnt have any drips like other reviewers said, It took no time at all & i didnt have all that cleaning up to do, loved the cutting in brush its the best one ive ever used. I only used 2 to 3 litre which is what i expected to use, my only critism is the price of the paint (£35) & you have to buy 5 litres everytime. Didnt think the cleaning process would be any good to be honest but again i was supprised, 10 mins was all it took, just a little bit of hand washing the parts in warm water & it was all done. I cannot fault the Dulux paintpod & can't wait to use it again.

This product is absolutely fabulous. Like one of the reviewers said, those who don't like it do not know how to use it. Well done Dulux!!!

“Essentially... Useless”

Had leakages from both the paint and the batteries. The tube is too long, and the coverage is below par. Take my word, and most peoples on here, and steer clear!

written by Painterpeter on 08/02/2013

I was given one buy a customer and love it!! Iv used paint pod paint, dulux mixed colours, farrow and ball Wickes and crown perfect Finnish every time! No spray no mess it's so easy a child could use it. It does take a couple of hot water cycles to clean and a little Time wiping the rolling arm over but well worth the Effort for the Finnish and speed!

How did you use other colours besides the specific paint pod ones? That is my only hesitation on buying a paint pod - the limited choice of colours..

“Its great, bought cheap and using cheaper paint is...”

★★★★☆

written by on 28/01/2013

I bought this machine after much decision making, even though it was reduced to 24.99 at Yorkshire Trader. Read some good and bad reviews. Not constantly using the trigger is the answer, and try and use like you would use a manual roller, when its fuelled with paint stop pressing trigger and roll the paint out until it needs priming again. Cleaning took about two full cleans and two drains, and i removed the roller to hand clean it. At the end of the day I like it, it was spreading paint economically and saved me getting down off my step to pour paint into a roller tray like i usually do. People who complain must be pressing trigger constantly or have not used a roller before. I would not pay £60 full price, but anything less it is a good buy. I only paid 9.99 for pod paint instead of 29.99, but i will re use the empty pod with paint (not too thick). At the end of the day its Dulux, and they are a reputable company. Read the instructions, dont over trigger and wash at least twice and roller by hand and you will enjoy this machine.

“Less useful than a chocolate teapot”

★☆☆☆☆

written by vanderboon on 26/01/2013

The dulux paintpod ranks with such technological advances as the chocolate teapot. Utter s**t, I would make less mess sucking the paint through a tube and spitting it onto the wall. Don't buy one, don't borrow one, if you see one smash it with a hammer. Rubbish paint coverage (unless you count the skirting boards and floor). Uneven paint coverage (unless you count the skirting boards and the floor). Pointless invention, I'm glad I only borrowed it from my father-in-law. Buy a paint tray, some paint and some rollers, it's cheaper, takes less time and is far, far, far less messy.

“Not good enough”

★★☆☆☆

written by teresabu421 on 17/01/2013

Purchased with great expectations having read the burb. Reality is, it's easy to use but clean, efficient and value for money it is not. Regular roller and paint will do the job just as well with a great deal less effort and mess, at a fraction of the cost.

“Works OK but paint not washable. No good if you have kids!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 07/01/2013

System worked well and self cleaned OK, but paint is thin and 2 coats may well be needed, and it doesn't come cheap! Also, the whole point of covering the original builders emulsion in my 4 year old house was to make it kid proof and washable, which this paint is definitely not.

“handle”

★★★☆☆

written by on 06/12/2012

me and my dad both bought paintpods, about 4 months apart, and both have retractable handles which your supposed to press and pull up... well when you press the handles they don't pop up and are stuck, and neither of us have our reciepts so are stuck with the handles in. apart from that they do work ok....

“rubbish product with high price tag”

★☆☆☆☆

written by folkestonelad on 20/09/2012

i did not use the painter immediately after purchase. The batteries had leaked.cleaned up the battery holder and put in new batteries.Okay so away we go or so you think, the paint is poor quality and the batteries run out very quicly even though you use as directed.I also found that contrary to Dulux claims there is paint that splashes off the end s of the roller. In my opinion the feed tube is far to long.I got fed up so i emptied some of the paint into a plastic roller tray and what came out would have needed stirring.i did this which took some time and tried a little batch on a wall. same result bad coverage even with a ordinary roller. the product is in the bin where it belongs.a high price to pay for the paint and roller. Buyer beware. les wilson experienced diyer age 65.

“Absolute rubbish don't waste your money!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/08/2012

Bought this last week as it looks so easy on the adverts...I couldn't of been more wrong! After initial assembly which was easy (only good thing I can say!) I started cutting in then rolled the paint onto the Walls...here's where the nightmare began! Firstly for some reason the paint seems to take a different effect when you cut in than when you use the roller so you get a 'picture frame' effect on the walls. Secondly the paint is poor quality, after two coats you still have a patchy effect and can still see paint underneath, and I painted a White over a light cream so hardly like I was painting over a particularly dark colour. After doing two coats in one day I'd had enough and decided to clean the thing. I attached the tap adaptor onto the tap, turned it on and bang the seal actually split sending a paint/water mixture all over me and my utility roo (I can see it's amusing now but really wasn't at the time!) so to sum it up for my £75 spent on pod, paint and spare roller I have patchy Walls, a broken machine and a rather messy utility room, I can't stress enough how rubbish this thing is and just wish I'd read other reviews before wasting my money!!

I have to say I agree with everything. It's too economical with the paint! Very slow and a waste of both time and money. Bought a roller kit £4.99 -
And I'm starting again

“Brilliant”

★★★★★

written by Nipplefish on 03/04/2012

One of the best gadgets I have ever bought makes painting a piece of cake. Contrary to previous reviews my paintpod has worked without a hitch. Brilliant wall coverage no drips and good cleaning. I used to hate painting. Now its a doddle. Done the dining room and sitting room in one day no problem. Highly recommend.

Can anyone tell me what type of paint they used in the paint pod? Thought that only the special paint designed for it could be used. Since both are discontinued, what are people using in their paintpod? I have a brand new one in storage and believe I can't use it as the paints are no longer available.
