“Excellent Bike School”

Written on: 22/11/2013

Went to West Pennine Motorcycle Training because I had been with previous schools but was not really progressing. The school took everything back to the basics, laid new foundations and got me up to test standard. I now have my A2 license, my new bike and riding. Cannot say how pleased I am, and can only thank the team at West Pennine for their encouragement and training. Easy going, friendly and professional. Will definitely be going back to them when I upgrade my license in the near future… Read Full Review

Please pass on my thanks to everyone at West Pennine for getting me from CBT to full licence and more importantly teaching me to be a safe rider. Ive been out all last night on my bike and whilst knowing my limits having lots of fun on it and feel that Im in control of it not the other way arround. I had the pleasure to go out with 4 different instructors and they all gave me tips and explained things from different angles so that it made sense to me. “CBT Training”

Written on: 24/04/2013 by frydrive (1 review written)

Booked my CBT with West Penine in Blackburn as it is local to me and I had been recommended to try them from a family member. After a brief introduction to the owner and the instructor who would ultimately look after me for the day we got straight to it with the checking of the paperwork. Now being 48 years old and not having been on a bike in years you can imagine I was a little nervous to start with. However the excellent instruction and pace of learning soon took care of that. I was one of… Read Full Review

“Absolutely fantastic day”

Written on: 24/04/2013 by Tarmacterrier (1 review written)

West Pennine was recomended to Me by a Freind who had recentley passed a Test with them. I was very nervous, because I had never ridden a Motorbike before, or driven a Car. My Instructor was very Freindly, putting me at ease straight away. I dropped the Bike a couple of times to start with, but the Instructor persuaded me to get back on and try again. My Instructor's Patience finally paid off, as I started to feel more Relaxed, I was able to complete more complex exercises. By Lunchtime I had… Read Full Review

“Pass Modules 1 & 2 safely”

Written on: 09/01/2013 by Bruceyboy (1 review written)

After having completed my CBT a couple of months earlier, I undertook a 6 day (residential-B&B included) training course with West Pennine, in December 2012. I travelled up to Blackburn from Kent, (it was a lot cheaper to train 'up north') and I would recommend the training experience to anyone. West Pennines instructors are all great guys. Terry took the first days training on a 125cc bike and then i trained with Chris on the 500cc Suzuki's. Chris calmly and efficiently guided me through to… Read Full Review

“3 day DAS course with West Pennine Motorcycle Training.”

Written on: 08/11/2012 by LeeNuttall (1 review written)

In essence, excellently organised, brilliant staff providing honed personal instructions. Perfectly situated to experience Mod 2 test routes and real Mod 1 practice and extremely high value for money using good equipment. My CBT was about to run out and I needed to pass my DAS within 2wks. I phoned up on a Wednesday and found the training would take place on the Saturday and Sunday with my Mod 1 booked for Tuesday, Mod 2 Thursday - amazing. Even though I have a CBT and 125cc bike I turned… Read Full Review

“West Pennine Motorcycles DAS Course”

Written on: 08/11/2012 by michaelghoward (1 review written)

I would like thank Terry, Steve, Alan, Dave & Chris and Yvonne of course! for your persistence and patience getting me through my CBT/Mod I/Mod II tests that I took in October 2012. I couldn’t have done it without your help, encouragement and guidance, especially when I was being a bit dense, struggling to co-ordinate myself and forever forgetting to switch my indicators off! So, once again, thank you all and I hope to be back to do the ERS next year! … Read Full Review

“very average. not as thorough as id have liked.”

Written on: 06/11/2012 by Iammoregingerthanu (1 review written)

In whole i didnt feel like i had got value for money. I paid the same for a 3 day course part 1 and part 2 as someone doing a 3 day course cbt part 1 and 2? in summary: a little disorganised and could have been more informative noone seemed to know what was happening not as intensive as id have liked. not really a 3 day intensive course. probably had little over 10 hrs on a bike in total and no classroom work/debrief. Dare i say it not a professional outfit. a little misleading. bit of a… Read Full Review

“6 Day DAS CBT to Module 2 test course”

Written on: 21/09/2012 by buckrogers (1 review written)

Waterproof clothing and gloves were provided if necessary. Always a maximum of two pupils to each trainer. Day one was CBT. Day two, three and four a mix of road craft and slow manoeuvres. Day five final module one training and test. Day six module two test. It was a wet 6 days and the guys guided me through all that I needed to pass and also safe wet weather riding which was a real benefit. The accommodation provided is good and the large breakfast sets you up for the day. I would recommend… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/04/2012

The motorebike course I went on at West Pennine gave me all help I needed to pass my CBT. I feel that the instructors where very helpful and knew exactly what they were doing. They where patient when I was beginning to ride and gave me lots of confidence and advice. I felt comfortable when talking to the instructors and I could ask them if I was struggling or needed any help. Equipment was provided from bikes to helmet and gloves, all I needed was strong clothes and footwear. The equipment was… Read Full Review

“Would never go there again”

Written on: 31/03/2012

Started off well and I was nervous but looking forward to learning how to ride a bike. I happened to mention whilst being instructed on clutch control that I hadn't had a bycycle as a child (I had been on a few of my friends bikes but was not given time to explain). After this I was informed by the owner that I would go no further than clutch control due to this fact and that I should go and learn to ride a bycycle round the park instead! I was extremely insulted and subsequently left after… Read Full Review

Its not safe to learn balance on a powered motorcycle when the learner has virtually never even ridden a bicycle. The trainee was asked to get up her basic balance on a bicycle on a park and then come back and we would continue the course. As explained at the time with no further charge . This is safe and sensible, the review takes no account of what may have happened had she been allowed to continue and what injuries may have occured.

It was this company that put me off riding a motorcycle with thier rudeness, insulting disrespect for the trainee.

It gets me how people who i regard as novice learners complain due to their own lack of experience, these people know what it takes to put people through a cbt which is so easy. You do need to know you have balance from riding a bike so they are being sensible, i feel some bad reviews are down to the fact that people havent got confidence to say hang on i need to explain, in this guys case that he had dabbled with bicycles but not his own.if they feel your not going to have control over the bike they cant issue a cbt.

Funny that as we advised you to do a two hour pre CBT @ £40 not a CBT @ £99 considering all we want is money

We have a duty of care to you as a trainee, if we had let you continue on a powered motorcycle knowing full well that you had no balance even on a bicycle then we would be negligent if you had an accident. As was stated on the day if you got some experience on a bicycle and then came back we would continue the course from that point, without additional charge. This is a safe and sensible approach, I am sorry if you don't see it that way.

I even learnt that i had to do a retest upto 70 mins but passed fine. The training i recieved made sure that no matter what conditions of weather and test i could pass and pass well. I passed on the 18 jan and waiting for my first bike rally (farmyard party 2012)in the summer so thanks to alan, chris… Read Full Review
