Ordered bike and accessories in early July. Recieved bike and most of accessories within the 14 days. The helmet was delivered over 5 weeks late! Even though the website says "10-14 days". The service is useless. Numerous times, I phoned and emailed for status updates on delivery. The staff just did not know. Once, someone told me that it was ordered from ths supplier and would arrive within 2 weeks. Then 2 weeks later, I emailed again only to be greeted with a response: another 2 weeks for the helmet to arrive. I found this level of service rediculous.

I then wrote a review on Evans website which they rejected. It seems that they only accept positive feedback and don't accept negative criticism. Not the signs of a good, customer orientated company!

AVOID!

My review (unfortunately) is like the majority - don't even think about it!

Ordered a bike over a week ago the website confirms in stock - just had a phone call now they can't source the bike as its old stock

Tried to bully me over the phone to change my order to a different bike, no chance, so hopefully my refund is on the way.

Salesman was aggressive; woman in customer support not much better - BUYER BEWARE ...

Bought a bike i got it in the time they said when it arrived it was damaged i rang customer services they said for me to send pictures they did not get back to me so i rang them they said they would offer me £30 i said the bike is damaged and all you offer is £30 they said it was not damaged enough. when i pushed them they offered £50 it was minor damaged so i acepted they said they would put them in the post a week ago still waiting rang them yesterday they said they had put them in the post that day suprise!! suprise!!Evans if your customer service was as good as your website then these ratings would be better....Will not use again after i get this sorted

Ordered two bikes. Was told instore that they would arrive together within 5 working days. One arrived within two days (great). Rang customer services. Apparently the person instore did not check stcok and said it wouldbe with me on friday (approx two weeks after ordering and paying!) Rang customer services on thursday to check if i would recieve the bike on friday. They said it was in a branch and should be put on a carrier and that they would contact me to let me know when it will be delivered (not confirnming it would be friday). They simply said it could very well be delivered on friday!! I was promised that it would be definately delivered by friday at the very latest!! Totally rubbish customer services and unacceptable.

Lengthy time to process order, and bikes not priced correctly leading to disappointment when the bike I chose ended up being £500 more than the ticket price. No call to request build date- had to chase. Lack of communication in shop leading to frustration. Poor customer service when collecting the bike.

WHAT A BUNCH OF.....brilliant, helpful, knowledgeable, polite and friendly staff. I cannot state what the other Evans Cycles outlets are like as my dealings were solely with the branch at THE CHILL FACTORE in Manchester. Can't priase them enough and thank them for a memorable, poitive buying experience. Marc the manager and Owen are a credit to the company. There is too much to mention as to why this review is so good, but my circumstances were 'new to the mountain biking sport', with limited knowledge and upto £1000 to spend. I visited almost every bike shop in the north west before i stumbled across these guys and placed an order with them that very day. Everything else including the collection went so smoothly. My i hasten to add that I wouldn't touch Winstanleys of Wigan with a barge pole - give these rude and arrogant people a wide birth. And before anyone questions this review - no i don't work or have any assosiation with Evans. My review is mutual!

Ok, they were just terrible i dont know where to start....

Ordered a £300 bmx, didnt come after 2 weeks, phoned up and they said they'd have it in another week..., that week passed and i phoned up again and they said that they wouldnt be able to stock it, sold me an alternative, another week went by before i finally recieved it.

Was forced to make a second order due to stockage of parts, ordered 2 items to the store, some how they are incapable of putting them both in a van at the same time..., so i am still waiting on a mountain bike tyre which i need asap.

In conclusion, i have no idea how thay are still allowed to run a business DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Seriously, just dont.

I recently purchased my bike through them as they were the cheapest option but man, what is up with their staff??

First Issue - Staff did not know any details about the Cycle2work scheme and wasn't even interested in finding out for me. As soon as I mentioned it he switched off as I didn't have a wheelbarrow of money towed behind me. But then he did advise me to visit their website which had all the details on (still what's the point of me going into the store)

Second Issue - I have successfully ordered my bike via the Cycle2work scheme and a member of the Evans team left a message on my answerphone asking when I can pick it up! SUPERB! I call back 2 hours later to confirm and the staff have no clue what I am talking about and with no record of my order they say the guy has gone home so will call me back tomorrow.

Third Issue - I get the callback saying the bike will be ready for collection at 3pm!! SUPERB! I collect the bike which does not come with pedals!!! NO mention of this on their website, in store or via telephone!! still I demand they provide pedals which thankfully they do have a spare set. Now to purchase a lock. Take the lock to the till and the cashiers are too busy talking about Facebook to even look at me, although amazingly manage to take payment and package my item without saying a word. nice.....

Fourth Issue - I take my bike out of the shop and notice these issues

1 - Headset is too loose (potential death trap in London traffic)
2 - Tyres are semi inflated
3 - No Bell (even though I wouldn't want one, this is a LEGAL requirement)

So would I choose Evans Cycles London again??

I think not . . although I will give them credit for stocking a frickin' awesome bike! :D

As per some of the other reviews I have read, customer service staff ar short, sharp, rude and unhelpful. I paid for a bike and they took the money straight out of the account at beginning of June. Because they have not been able to supply a bike that isn't damaged, only at the end of July (I hope) I will get my money back.

Really disappointing and surprised they stay in business!

AFTER BUYING A PINNACLE NO 2 MANS BIKE AND ACCESSORIES EARLIER IN THE MONTH AT THE NEW LAKESIDE STORE AND RECEIVING EXCELLENT HELP AND ADVICE WE HAVE SINCE BEEN IN ON TWO OCASSIONS TO GET ADVICE ABOUT A BIKE CARRIER FOR THE CAR, THE 1ST TIME STAFF HELPED DEMONSTRATE HOW IT FITS ON THE CAR, ON THE CAR. TODAY ON VISITING THE STORE AGAIN THEY HAVE ANOTHER MORE EXPENSIVE TYPE,{ WHICH WE WERE TOLD CAN BE LOCKED ONTO THE CAR,HENCE THE PRICE BEING DEARER)IN THE STORE AND WE RECEIVED AGAIN EXCELLENT HELP WITH OUR ENQUIRY. Disaster - a week before the Etape a crack was discovered in my carbon Trek. Of course I was very upset. I spoke with Evans and with Trek who both undertook to find a solution in time for the Etape. Thanks to the excellent service from Gatwick store of Evans a bike was found for me to cycle in France. Trek also worked with Evans to provide a solution in the event Evans could not get a bike for me.
Chapeau to Evans and Trek !!!
I remain a fan of both

Arrogant staff. Simply treat you as if you were too much trouble. 'if you don't ask us we don't know your there' was the response to a 10 minute wait from a bloke who appeared behind the till like Mr Ben's shop assistant. I don't wear a badge saying Customer, but he wasn't wearing one that said staff or even a uniform and had mistaken him for a customer chatting to another member of staff. Everything seamed too much trouble and a left feeling like I was the one who'd been taken for a ride.
If it wasn't for the fact that thery're the only one's who have the bike I'd have walked out. I have heard reports of poor service - Should have taken more notice.

He directed customer service to get clarification on what happened and etc. Most importantly, they managed to provide an answer as to what caused the delay in responses. Upon solving their internal email issue, my order was shipped and I have received it within 3 working days via UPS. I truly appreciate their effort in restoring customer confidence and like to thank the team at Evans Cycles.

What a nightmare!

I have had nothing but trouble with this company, their customer service (or lack of) is appalling.

I ordered a bike which I was told was in stock and ready to be dispatched within 3 working days. Two weeks later I was still waiting and after numerous lengthy calls to customer service they finally agreed to send me a better model for the same price, this was also delayed and went it finally arrived a further week later, was damaged, this was obviously caused in the workshop as the protective packaging was fully intact. I decide to complain in writing and after two weeks still had not received a response, customer service keep placing me a hold then cutting me off!

Enough was enough, so I called the returns department to send the bike back and arranged a return from my workplace, low and behold I return home only to find a card on my doormat, they have tried to collect from my home address! I am still waiting for the bike to be collected! Do yourself a favour and steer well clear!!

This is by far the most irresponsible online retailer I have come across!
Online inventory clearly indicated there were stock for my desired wheel set and I have not gotten any shipping info for over 11 Working days now! International calls were also not answered and put on hold under IVR!
Reaching out to community.manager at face book does little to no help at all, all they ever reply was items are in stock and would ship within 3-5 working days! I waited and waited and waited till my credit card bills came! AND I AM STILL WAITING! I am going to call my bank to dispute this transaction, may be it would be worth suing them I don't know but will seek legal advice on the matter! My order number is W000349998 and Evans Cycles sucks! PLEASE DO NOT PERFORM INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES FROM THIS SHOP! THEY CAN'T EVEN DELIVER A SET OF WHEELS! THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE ANY STAR!!!

I found the reviews on here after buying from Evans cycles for a while I am really suprised by the reviews, I have pretty much excellent service from them and must have bought 10-12 items, yeah I have had out of stock issues but they seemed to sort it pretty quickly, I phoned once or twice and got the answers I needed. I generally dont take much notice of '3-5days' messages becasue I have experienced this all over the web just meand they have to order them in from somwhere !!! Guys if your buying from teh web your price chasing or for 'convienence' ....just go into a shop !! I get pretty much all my important stuff from store where you can try it.

Here is the letter I am writting to Evan's Cycles:


I was not sent any notification about there being no stock or that there would be any prolonged wait for my item. I took note of the 3-5 day shipping time for an order the size of mine, I also noticed that larger items are 5-7 days. So I gave your company the benefit of the doubt and waited 7 days for an item that really should have gotten to me within 3-5 days.
After waiting about 10 minutes for my call to be answered I was told that the item had not even been sent out yet. To add insult to injury my item had been ready for dispatch but was send to the store as stock was required there, I was shocked that this was the case and I hadn't even been contacted. Your representative on the phone told me the item would be sent out the same day. I was sceptical so the following day I rang again and waited on the phone for just short of 10 minutes again. This time I was told there was stock in the shop but not in the warehoused, I expressed that I wasn't happy with the amount of time this order was taking and your employee told me the order would be dispatched with priority. I waited until the following day and my order had not been received by the time my post turned up, so I called again to find out what the situation was back to square one, the item was in the shop but not in the warehouse and they were waiting for the item to come back to the warehouse, at this stage I decided to cancel the order.
Each time I called up I was left waiting approximately 10 minutes and faced with the same phrase:
"We sorry for the delay your call is important to us, please hold"
I really did not feel I was a valued customer, I did not feel my call was important seeing as each time it took so long for my call to be answered. I felt I should contact your company about this to see what your opinions were on this 'service' I received from your company which I really found to be a massive let down.
