“iPad 3 64g 3G Retina Display”

Bought this on Groupon only 2 days ago and it arrived today! So far so good. It hasn't a mark on it and seems to be working fine. It will only chare to 90% and I ordered black and was sent silver, but that's fine. I am so far impressed and at £177 with free delivery I'm not complaining. It has the latest update on and came in an unbranded box with a separate charger. It was at 93% when I turned it on and now at 90%. I will look into the charging issue as this is an apple iPad 3 common fault.

“Buyer beware”

Bought a Mac through these guys, had to retun it under warranty. They wouldn't honour the warranty and now having to go the legal route.

“Not Sure which company some others are reviewing?”

I have purchased 3 Macs from Portable Universe and have recommended them to several friends. All my machines have been exactly as described (or slightly better than described) and some of the friends to whom I recommended PU have passed on their recommendations to others. A few months ago I was considering the purchase of a 27" iMac, unfortunately I hesitated too long and the unit I was considering went before I got to it. I rang PU and got a lot of useful and friendly advice and help, which led to a purchase a few hours later. If I do buy a lemon from PU I will return it and trust that I will receive the same level of service as I have done in the past, if not I'll be sure to let you know

“Apple MacBook”

After receiving this today the only issue I had was that safari kept crashing when trying to get in hotmail/YouTube but I contacted these guys and got a call back from an agent who guided me in what to do and sent me a email on how to get round this and I now can run any application on my laptop, if you call to complain be polite and respect that these guys are here to help you, thank you for my computer guys, I have now purchased a second apple MacBook and will wait it's delivery I'm that impressed with it I bought one for the wife, so guys I recommend buying one of these while you can and any issues call the company who are more than happy to help with your situation.

“Faulty item and poor service”

I purchased a MacBook from Portable Universe via Wowcher, the item worked ok for a couple of months but then stopped working altogether. Clearly it was faulty. At cost to myself I sent the item back for repair or replacement under the stated 1 year warranty. After an issue over my address was resolved I finally received a package which may or may not have been the same laptop but with the same problem and with no explanation or note as to what had been returned to me. I have tried to contact portable universe since then and had no response so I am left with a faulty item and I have lost everything that was saved on the laptop I originally purchased. I am planning on reporting the matter to Trading Standards and going to small claims court if necessary. My advice is don't risk purchasing from Portsble Universd go to a company you can trust and be confident you will get what you paid for.

“Bought a Wowcher for a MacBook which Portable Universe...”

Bought a Wowcher for a MacBook which Portable Universe is the supplier. Item was not as advertised, so I returned it within 28 days, postage paid and proper packaging. I took before sending pictures for own peace of mind. Package was returned to me 2 days later, with A4 piece of on it was written "MacBook is damaged, no refund given" with no name or any further info. Just that I had apparently returned it damaged. I told them of the pics I took before I returned it, they said it might have been in transit so it's my problem. I asked for pics of the damaged packaging it supposedly got damaged in, and got no pics but only that they didn't have it anymore or the guy who dealt with it is not in but he will call me back. The item was signed by them from transit company and the package wasn't reported damaged then. So where and when did this damage occur? Items are either being damaged on receipt back to negate the refund policy, and thus keep your cash.

They take your money and provide a piece of kit that's completely useless - it can't be upgraded and doesn't run most programs. None of the serious limitations to use were highlighted in the sales details - this loathesome company is simply ripping people off. Thanks for spoiling our Chrustmas. Multiple contacts to complain and request a return - no reply!

“Dreadful ”

Bought a refurb Apple Mac 13" as a xmas present, on opening and finally starting, so slow, will not do updates, doesn't work properly, contacted customer services, unhelpful and basically said waste of time buying! Wouldn't give us a refund even though faulty but we could upgrade it, said I didn't want to upgrade wouldn't as clearly products they sell do not work properly!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

“Wasting time?”

I ordered a 13" MacBook off the wowcher website to start with. I was informed my product would take a week athe most to be delivered. Coming up to day 6 of 7 it hasn't even left their premises yet. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone. Couldn't differentiate between letters of my item code I gave him. Was emailed today telling me they would deliver my product by the end of the week. Haven't received any tracking details at all to put my mind at rest. I doubt it will even arrive. Should really consider buying from them. Only time will tell if it was worth it but at the moment it looks like a waste of my time.

“Returned product and not heard a thing!”

I was bought a "grade A refurbished" MacBook for my birthday from this company. I say "grade A" as a very loose term as the hard drive died within a month of me having the computer. When I got in contact with them initially I had a very quick response however, after spending nearly £300 on the original laptop and then a further £30 shipping the broken laptop back to them (as they wouldn't refund me for a fault that I wasn't to blame for) I then had complete radio silence from them. It's now nearly 2 weeks and 3 emails later and still nothing. Do not recommend buying from them, or at least read the reviews first.

Im in the same boat have you thought about reporting them to Trading Standards as seems like we are not the only ones who have been ripped off and I think the more reports Trading Standards get the more they will take note. Hope it gets sorted for you x

“Trying to say I've damaged it”

I purchased a Mac book only two weeks ago from them, within two days on booting it up it looked like it had a crack down the screen, I know 100% this has not been dropped,, but they are telling me there is a definite crack on the screen! I'm upset and frustrated as I know it hasn't been dropped or damaged. I paid for return postage, I have screen shot these reviews and sent them to them. I hate being made out to be a liar, I know no damage has been done to this. So now I'm waiting to see how much it's going to cost me. I wish I would have reviewed them first.

“Don't touch them”

These guys gave us a faulty product. To be fair, they've taken it back for repair whenever we've complained. The problem is they can't fix it. My complaint: they don't give refunds. So let me get this straight Portable Universe, you sell faulty gear which you won't (or cannot?) refund. If you're thinking of using them, don't. It may be a cheaper option, but what's the point if they give you a product that's worthless which they then won't refund. Off to the small claims court for me.

Having read some disappointing reviews, I awaited delivery of my refurbished Macbook with a little concern. Howver, what I have received is an extremely clean laptop in perfect working order. The battery is in A1 condition and the faults (dents) are much less noticeable than I expected.

Was given wrong advice about purchasing laptop. When contacted, company was extremely rude - unbelievably so. Wish I'd seen the other reviews on here before dealing with them. Took money without delivering product so now have to open a case against them via PayPal. Nothing but stress and annoyance. Avoid at all costs. I don't know how they continue to trade - just look at their Facebook page too.

“rubbish refurbished macbook”

I purchased a MacBook lap top from portable universe via Wowcher. The MacBook stopped working after second day of use. I asked for refund, but the company denied. I tshould pay for post and package and return of repairment. When a MacBook laptop stop working after second day use , you imagine the price of post and package for repairment will be greater then the original MacBook within a year. Be careful you should not trust any one.

I am currently experiencing the same problem now. Just after two days of purchase my MacBook stopped working. Now I have to foot the return bill. Plus the call cost as it a premium number to call to arrange my return. Not happy but hey I smell rat with the pricing. But still fell for this. But folks remember when the price is too good stay away.
