I have place 2 orders this year and disappointed with both. Tree Lillies arrived in September so only just flowering now we are expecting frost. Told by CS not expected to flower this year (ordered 9th Aug) not stated in the description. The clematis and viola arrived in a very poor condition and for the viola (only arrived today) again told not to flower this year but not in the description. The "free plants" I was supposed to get with the lilly tree bulbs did not arrive when I contacted them was told they would be despatched next February!! What good is that for begonias? Will not be using them again. They need to be clearer on the despatch date and flowering time

I have used Thompson & Morgan over several years but this year the quality of delivered plug plants was disgraceful. I reckon I was able to save about 50% of the order. I have complained and they have offered to replace one set of plants and £15 off any further order but I will NEVER order from the again. There are plenty of good suppliers ( Parkers,Jersey Plants,Avon Bulbs & Spaldings to name a few I have used ). DO NOT USE THOMPSON & MORGAN.

Several people advised me not to order from Thompson and Morgan but, stupidly, I ignored them. T & M regularly include dead plants among your order or send the wrong thing, but the worst thing is that they argue, time waste, and refuse to accept responsibility. Even if you can manage to get them to replace a plant they do a minimum. No extra gestures for the sake of goodwill.

To be told a portion of our order March,2011, would be shipped in August, like HELLO Thompson & Morgan we are in Canada. allegedly operating out of Canada, we assumed our order would be shipped from within our borders. Link to check status of order revealed nothing. Unknown shipping, how is it possible that a company would not have this information?? Oh yes, and such a welcome line that if a customer has questions, problems, just click this link to email us, we will be glad to help........INSTEAD, a returned email form saying to check online questions and faqs........now how would one possibly find an order date, or shipping date and method. SHAME!! SHAME on Thompson & Morgan. In ending, we used to value Thompson & Morgan and were so pleased to hear the you had opened a Canadian Branch, no longer!...we will also be passing this information onto our gardening friends. There should be the option of NO STARS!!!!

T&M ship different parts oforders seperatly when the plants are ready.Unlike somesellerswho will shipeverything together to cut their costs thusleading to rootbound plants beingsent out asthey have been sitting waiting forother itemsto be ready. Plants are living things and all species cant be available at all times. The reviewer needs to \"get real\".

A couple of years ago I had a very bad experience ordering from Thompson and Morgan and swore I would never use them again. However, the Tesco vouchers made me give them another try. Mistake! The potatoes arrived on time but they had run out of the ones I wanted and provided a very silly substitution. When I phoned to complain, and suggest that they should consult customers about substitutions they said 'Oh no, we couldn't do that, that would mean contacting THOUSANDS of customers'. So T&M admit that they regularly disappoint thousands of people.
The seeds that I ordered at the same time didn't arrive, and when I phoned to complain they blamed Royal Mail. They did re-dispatch but these still took 2 weeks to arrive.

I would never use T&M ever again! Similarly to you i have suffered such bad customer 'care'. I ordered some bulbs for my elderly mother in April and it is now nearly the end of June that only last week after a deal of correspondence from me to T&M received half the bulbs! Prior to this the bulbs were not dispatched on the day T&M said although they said it must be Royal Mails fault there were also implied accussations that i might not be telling the truth! My mum then recieved half the order and i have been told that she will have to wait until the end of July (approx 3months after the order was placed!) for the other half! I can't see why T&M just can't send a note with the orders to let the customer know that the order is incomplete etc. rather than adding more expense and stress to the customer via, phone calls, emails etc (all made by the customer not the customer 'care' team who are just rude!). T&M must be making loads of money from unhappy customers, i just want to warn everyone NOT TO SHOP ONLINE @ Thomson and Morgan or if they do, people should place an order 6 months in advance!!!

Avoid Thompson and Morgan gift vouchers! You can't use more than 5 pounds if you order online, or 10 pounds if you order by phone. No reason is given, and no warning is given on the vouchers. Presumably a lot of frustrated customers end up paying cash instead of vouchers for their order. Not a problem for T&M, of course, since they've already had the cash for the vouchers.
It took three attempts at ordering, including a full ordering process online and by phone, for me to find all this out.
My order, was eventually sent by post around 11 February (from Belgium, but letters normally take 2 working days in either direction). Money went from my credit card account on 18 February. It's now 9 March and I have not received my seeds. When I rang on 4th March I was told that T&M take no action until an order is a month overdue and that they are experiencing a lot of delays, all caused by Royal Mail (or whatever it's called now...). However, two seed orders from other seed companies in Britain arrived two days after posting - and about a week after ordering. Are Royal Mail targeting T&M orders?? A letter of complaint sent almost four weeks ago with my order has received no reply.
I recommend Organic Gardening Catalogue and Plant World!

Really disappointed with quality of seed potatos sent. All really small. One was pierced right through probably from a fork and 2 had what looked like insect holes.
Also when they were delivered, the box was thrown over my back fence which knocked over a flower pot making a mess.

In spite of the appalling weather, both mums and my sister received goods from Thompson and Morgan via the Tesco Clubcard voucher scheme in time for Christmas and in good condition. However, the confirmation letters for our orders arrived undated after Christmas itself so we had no contact details or way of tracking our order! We didn't use the T&M website or their customer service dept so I have given them an average score.

THIS WAS THE DESCRIPTION of Orchid THEN READ ON TO SEE WHAT ARRIVED DISGUSTING MISLEADING poor selling practice!!!!!! Not good internet purchase.
Orchid (Scented) 'Star Class'
T&M Exclusive
Take their breath away with the star of winter house plants.
This magnificent dendrobium orchid oozes glamour and elegance and will add a sophisticated touch to any room. Dripping in opulent, pearlescent blooms with a fantastically feminine fragrance, Orchid 'Star Class' will parade its floral extravaganza for up to 15 weeks each and every year. Supplied in a black cachepot, it's an ideal Christmas gift for those who desire a classy companion that isn't high maintenance. Approximate height: 24 inches (60cm).
That is the description of the orchid I was sent as a present and which was left on my doorstep for 24 hours in freezing conditions.......not a good start.
As I was unhappy with the could not care less treatment I received when I called the contact phone number I decided to email which required me to look at your website..
I am now even more appalled!!!!!
The picture and description of the plant is nothing like the sub-standard fragile scentless orchid I have received......described as approximately 24 inches tall - that is the support stick only plant maximum 17 inches......dripping in opulent
blooms......it has a few flowers on the barren sticks which support it in a black plastic flower cachepot not the sort of cachepot expected ....nothing like the picture on your Christmas Gift page and definitely what one would expect from
a reputable company.
As you can imagine I am not happy and embarrassed for my friends who so kindly sent me the gift and will be visiting. This picture is misleading and size quality of an orchid with no scent in a cheap plastic pot not as you describe to sell the item.

I ordered a 'Scented Gardenia Topiary' via tesco clubcard vouchers £13 back in October and it was due to arrive sometime in December, it was advertised as follows:
'Surprise your loved ones with an unmistakably original gift. This handsome topiary gardenia stands 28" tall and has a regal presence in any home setting. Its sturdy stem is crowned with glossy evergreen foliage and punctuated with heavily fragrant, porcelain blooms.'
It arrived a few days ago (ontime) and the quality of the packaging was excellent, they had also included a note saying that due to the cold weather they had wrapped the plant in bubble wrap so I was initially impressed, however when I opened the box and realised the plant was only half the size of the box I was a bit shocked as it was advertised as 28", the quality and value for money are appalling, firstly it is 13" (from base of plant) 18" (from base of pot) rather than the 28" advertised, it is certainly not giving the 'regal presence' it states since it resembles no more than a normal gardenia houseplant which I would pay around £5 for. Then the 'sturdy stem' which as a topiary I would expect to be a single sturdy stem.... is actually made up from 2 very wispy stems trained up the pole, there is no real distinct ball at the top and the base actually has leaves and flowers so it does not even resemble the 'standard' plant that they show a picture of.
Then the customer service department, that is another story!! what a bunch of amateurs, first girl who told me that as they are a 'young plant' company said that they only had 18" gardenias for £17 (I had paid £13 in vouchers which are supposed to be between 2, 3 or 4 times the value). She then stated they didn't even have any 28" ones, and that if I send the plant back they can refund my vouchers!! she went on to refuse to give me her full name and refused to give me her manager's name without their permission!! oh and the manager was surprisingly not available.. after some discussion she transferred me onto another girl who told me I needed to return the plant, freepost to their nursery in Guernsey enclosing a note to say that I had been sent one which was not as described and asking for a replacement of the 28" topiary, at the same time apologising for having been sent a plant which had 'slipped through their quality control net!'. When I asked her if she could contact the nursery to find out if they indeed had any 28" gardenias she said they do not have any contact details for their own Guernsey nursery!!! unbelievable. When I asked for the Head Office number as I could see from this site that if I sent my plant back I would not be guaranteed another before Christmas (if ever), she refused to give me the Head Office number stating that it was not their protocol to give it out but that she could pass on a message and get them to call me back today. A little investigation gave me the telephone number of their Ipswich offices however they are closed on Saturday (which she must have known). I will try them on Monday!!
I will try now to get in contact with the guernsey nursery myself with a little google investigation and see if they do in fact have this plant advertised. Also I will be speaking to trading standards on Monday!!
Tip: as per all other reviews stay away from this company with really bad customer service!

Ordered the Cottage Collection via "Country Homes and Interiors" magazine back in September. It is now 15 November and I am still waiting for the plants to arrive. I have phoned the company about 7 times and have been told the same thing everytime: "plants will be sent soon". . I would advise anyone to steer away from Thompson and Morgan and "Country Homes and Interiors" magazine offers.

Plug plants arrived very late in May and had hardly any time to mature before planting out. I am now on my third delivery of purple ranunculus because the previous two were every colour but purple. The seeds also arrived very late and only after I contacted them to complain. The fuchsia collection I ordered, three each of three different varieties were all the same variety. Most of the bare root shrubs didn't grow and those which did were weak. I could go on. Very poor customer service. Replacing incorrect items so late in the season is a waste of time. Only after several complaints have I had a refund for some of their mistakes. (only one actually)

Appalling company; take your money, don't deliver and contempt for customer
All the hall marks of poor management occupied with other matters

I am fed up with being sent free seeds that I do not want and are entirely unsuitable for either my colour scheme, climate or growing conditions. In addition I ordered Nicotiana sylvestris and was sent Echium pininana as a replacement and Antirrinhum 'royal bride' was replaced by Antirinhum 'sunrise' with no word of explanation or apology. Bare rooted hardy geranium 'splish splash' did not grow. I complained about seeds of geranium 'exclusive designer mixture' which developed into small flowered species plants as seen as a weed in many fields. They sent me another pack of exactly the same seeds, again with no word of apology or acknowledgement.
The only plus is that plug plants of Geranium Maverick Red have been excellent. However this will not persuade me from using T & M again or recommending them. I fear they have become too big for their boots and commercially out of control

I stopped buying from Thompson and Morgan after the last order I made with them arrived without a single item being what I had actually ordered. Like a fool a couple of weeks ago I saw a Scented Pinks collection on line for a collection of 24 plants and from the picture bought and paid for the item. They arrived today and when I opened the packages instead of the colourful mixture in the on line brochure I found the 24 plants consisted of 8 plants each of only 3 varieties and quite a few of them were broken. On contacting the customer services I was told the lady would have to talk to her superviser and call me back. Still waiting and will not order again no matter how good the picture is in the brochure.

The plants were advertised in the Daily Mail newspaper and delivery was said to be within 2 weks. I checked this when ordering as they were ordered as a birthday present for an elderly lady on June 20th. I was assured that they would arrive on time. I have telephoned Thompson and Morgan twice to ask when the plants would be delivered. I was told that they were not in the packaging department and nobody seemed to have any idea when or if they would be dispatched. My credit card was debited for the plants on June 2nd. I think the customer service of this company is disgusting, in fact the people I spoke to on the telephone seemed extremely anxious to have me cancel the order but the lady still wants the plants.

Ordered freesia plants (£15), money taken, letter arrived some weeks later apologising that plants no longer available. Goodwill gesture of £30 in vouchers to spend with Thompson & Morgan - only one voucher per order (came in 2 x £10, and 2 x £5 vouchers. Spent about £20 in P & P when using vouchers....complete rip-off!! Offered £50 worth of plants (summer assortment) for £9.99 - arrived yesterday in extremely poor condition, feel like dumping the lot! I WILL NEVER USE THESE RIP-OFF MERCHANTS AGAIN!!!

Thompson and Morgan ought to be taken to court for taking your money under false pretences. I placed an order for hanging basket plants and most have still not arrived although a blanket email said that promised delivery dates will be maintained. A blanket email response to todays complaint claims they are running 5days late but my plants were all promised for the end of may.Goodness knows when they will arrive. Perhap I will have my hanging baskets blooming for October!
