“Nationwide crash repair reception works really hard,...”

★★★★★

written by on 25/01/2009

Nationwide crash repair reception works really hard, and had everything sorted for me when I arrived including the loan car (a new corsa) Young lady updated me a couple of days later and I was informed again when the car was ready for me to collect. Picked it up on a Friday with my Sister, and the member of staff even waited for us, as we were late. A first class repair, and car returned clean inside and out.

I took my van into Nationwide in Cheltenham for repair rear nearside quater. The repair looked ok but they didn't appear to have organised for the graphics to be replaced. I complained and was told a company would come to me and sort it out, and nothing happened. So I complained to my insurers and was then told it had not been allowed for, even though I had a copy of the estimate and it was on there. Then the wheel arch trim fell off so just something else to sort out anyway to cut a very long story short still waiting for the graphics and wheel arch trim to be sorted after about 4 months.

★★★☆☆

written by on 04/12/2008

Had a bump in the car in end of October, phoned insurer and car taken away to Nationwide Crash Repair in Swindon, didn ' t hear anything for over a week (actually not too much of a problem because on holiday in Spain at the time!) they sent me a text message with basic info "car approved getting repaired" and that was it. I then phoned and confirmed the work that was to be done, mainly front, underneath but also some rear, sought confirmation that they were doing all of this and was assured this was being done and approved, went to pick her up 2 weeks ago and found out that the back did not appear to have been touched, because it was not approved! Although this was reported at the time of the accident, so they got approval and did it. Picked the car up today, slight niggle which was sorted out whilst I had a coffee and now have the car back.
Now this is the first time that I have used anyone to repair any of my cars, and must admit after reading the previous messages was worried and started to panic, but apart from not keeping me informed, missing the repair to the rear of the car they were alright. Also I now have a 3 year warranty on the work they carried out. I guess time will tell re the paint and the repairs but on first inspection it looks like a good job.
Oh and whilst she was in they also tidied her up a bit and gave her a good polish.
So in summary the car was away for 5 weeks, communication was poor, work looks good, got a warranty, went on holiday and had a loan car for 5 weeks from one car one in Swindon which was excellent. So fairly happy.

My car was vandalised in November, and was sent to Nationwide for the car to be assessed. All checked over and booked in for the 9th December.
Dropped car off and was given a lift home to await my enhanced courtesy vehicle from my insurance company (so far so good).
5 days later told my car is ready for collection. Excitedly off I go to the repair centre only to find the worst spray job I have ever seen.
To say it was a complete bodge job would be an understatement. They sprayed the OSF door, wing and Bonnet and NSF wing to supposedly colour match it.
So I raised the issues and they said they would sort it all out. Great I thought.
6 days later get told again that my car is ready. So off I go again only to find that where they appear to have flattened the paint back so much to remove the orange peel paintwork and imperfections they went through to the primer on the edges, also you can now see the original scratches that the car went in with, which makes me think they have just done a quick blow over with the spray gun and hope I won't notice. Also I managed to see the car in better light and it's now 2 different colours.
car is currently still with NCRC Swindon, and I have just rung for an update as I haven't heard anything for 2 weeks since my last visit to be told the workshop manager is in a meeting.
Here ' s to hoping I get my car back soon.

“Rear of car was damaged by hit and run in car park....”

written by SN on 24/11/2008

Rear of car was damaged by hit and run in car park. Contacted insurance on the Saturday, and Nationwide Crash Repair Centre at NORWICH telephoned me the following Monday to make an appointment to collect my car. I was extremely nervous after reading other bad reviews albeit none were about the Norwich repair centre. Had to go there in order to get a courtesy car under my insurance. I requested a 4 door courtesy car as I transport disabled person and this was delivered. My car was driveable and was picked up within the week and was delivered back to me a week later repaired and cleaned. Very pleased with service. They even phoned me to let me know that the driver was going to be a little later than expected.

written by dazzafjr1300 on 30/10/2008

Went to collect car as was told it was ready the car was not cleaned outside the repairers web site says inside will be cleaned that was not done and the roof repair was very poor there was a scratch still in the roof the roof rubbers that seals both doors three weeks on not done.
If I have a second say were it will be done I will not go here.

Update

We sent our car in for a damage roof and two doors had light marks on them due to cycle coming of the roof rack.
When we went to collect the car the car was covered in polish in the rubbers there was still a scratch on the roof which they tried to remove in front of me with spit and emery not nice I was told it would have a hoover out. That didn ' t seem to happen, the roof rubbers were not replaced which were damaged - they told me they were on back order. I got in touch with Fiat they told me they can have me a pair in two days. Three weeks on we are still driving their car which my insurance company are probably are paying for. I have been on phone to the repair centre and I think things are going to start.

Update.

I am going back after collect my car third time I have already put a comment on here I got car home Friday it was dark so Saturday I cleaned it there is a shadow on the roof a mis-sprayed bit in rear door, and the front door is rough to feel on the edge, the rear tailgate window has paint on it and the rear tail gate window has buff marks in the corners they will be unable to remove so once again a big no to any one getting your car repaired here.

Car got booked in through insurance and they took 3 weeks to book it in and had it for 5 weeks didnt contact me once give me 4 diffrent dates and none were correct went to pick it up and was a scratched down the side.

1 year after my initial review which can be found here - http://www.reviewcentre.com/review438287.html

I still find problems daily on the car. First of the petrol cap had been snapped off and glued back ok and leaving glue marks down the side of my car. The carpet was never re0fitted to a good standard and now it has huge bumps in the footwell which cannot come out unless the whole carpet is replaced.
The passangers door they supposidly replaced still has a few dents in that you can see when it's sunny and look at the reflection.
Just overall rubbsih service will never go through insurance with them again logged a complaint with insurance and they said they will look into it so hopefully they have come of the approved insurance list!

I understand that the pool site in cornwall is quite new, and the staff I delt with were very helpfull. Reception very helpful on the repair side and also comments about the local area.
We all get the odd mess up with any job but I cannot praise the staff enough at Nationwide crash centre at Redruth in Cornwall. A top class repair on my car and no complaints.

Bothered's Response to 394506_Keith Charles's Review

Written on: 09/02/2010

I have recently had to make use of this facility, as it is my insurer's authorised repairer.

I agree with the comment that the staff having contact with the customer are most helpful. Sadly, however, the operation is let down by the staff behind the scenes, from the refinishers to the valeting team.

My vehicle suffered "repair to before accident condition", consisting of the very obvious application of filler to a very complex set of curves and profile changes, with overspray and flatted spots from improperly carried out polishing. The vehicle was also covered in polish residue and delivered wet, which hides quite a bit.

I rejected the repair, which had taken a week without pressure from me to complete the job and after a second week, the filled panel had been replaced and the vehicle repolished. When I went to collect it, the bodyshop manager sent it for further polishing to remove the even worse residue, before handing it back to me.

I have subsequently returned it again for the removal of more overspray and paint runs and it is going back yet again for the correction of 'orange peel' in one area of the finish.

I also spent some considerable time and effort myself, polishing out an area of scratches which had appeared whilst the vehicle was in the facility and a large area of overspray, both of which should have been picked up at quality control.

Overall, not the most confidence inspiring experience. I would be reluctant to recommend this company and if in need of repairs in future will ask my insurer to use another repairer.
All branches operate under the same ownership, it would not make any difference which branch you go to. They use cheap copy parts and are not equivalent to genuine parts for the price I was charged to restore my car from nationwide I could have had my car repaired with genuine parts. They just fixed one side of my bumper rather than taking the bumper off and fixing it back onto both bumper brackets, one side of my bumper looks out of place, absolutely awful service and they refused to fully fix my bumper, they ripped me off!
Report this content NationwideRepairs Written on: 27/05/2016
We would just like to clarify the following: When authorised to do so by the customer's insurance company, we will use OEM parts. In accordance with our agreements with insurance companies, we will, where possible, repair rather than replace. However, if the finished repair is not expected to be to our normal high standards then we will request authorisation to replace any necessary parts.

It will depend on your Insurance Company and their policy as to whether genuine or non genuine parts are used. As regards repairing or replacing the dent in your wheel arch - this will depend on the amount of damage. We would normally prefer to repair rather than replace as we get tend to get a better overall finish, however, if a replacement body panel is required then of course we will replace it rather than repair. I hope this information helps!

Does anyone know what the warranty procedure is for repairs done by my local branch of Nationwide? My wife and I have been trying (over several visits) to get the local branch to check why my air-conditioning - which was repaired by them - is not working anymore. It is within the 1 year warranty, and we feel that our issue is not being looked into at all. I've now gone to the local Toyota dealer, spent about £60, and they have checked and said the problem is with the same pipe that Nationwide was supposed to have fixed. Needless to say, we are not happy with the service from the local branch of Nationwide. I was just with them about 20 minutes ago, and they have asked me to provide the report that Toyota dealer has provided, and they would contact them directly. Not sure exactly why. I would have thought the normal warranty procedure would be for Nationwide to check where the leak is and if it's the same pipes then they would simply fix the problem. We look forward to your reply. Thanks.

Can you please let me know which centre you are dealing with so I can look into the matter? We provide a warranty on all our repairs and so if the pipe which we fitted has now failed due to a fault with the pipe or the fitting, we will of course replace it. However, we will need to ascertain what exactly is wrong and the cause of the failure. From the information you have provided, my guess is that the person you spoke to at the repair centre felt it would be sensible to speak to the Toyota garage seeing as they have already inspected your vehicle. However, until I know which centre you are dealing with I can only assume this is the case. Please rest assured we will do all we can to help you get this matter resolved. If you can provide the centre details that will help me to find out more information, thank you.
