Have a Alfa Romeo which needed a rear bumper repair so More Than gave me Nationwide Crash Repair Centre in Bournemouth as my nearest repairer. Car collected OK at the end of November and quick update to advise that a new bumper would need to be ordered then sprayed. They attempted delivery last Saturday, but the bumper had two scratches on it so it was sent back. This is where the communication from them broke down. I've had to chase up the garage as to when I'll get the car back and when it did arrive yesterday, one if the scratches was still there. I have logged an official complaint with my insurer More Than and have yet to find out properly when I'm going to get my car back. They are next to useless and would certainly never use them again. They have had my car now for 3 weeks.

Cheltenham took my mini for repair - whilst the repair was being done I had updates via a mobile . When the vehicle was returned I pointed out the driver that there was a dent/ding above the petrol cap, and a dent in the metal window strip. Driver was very helpful and said he would report it on his return. I rang just to confirm myself . Manager has supposed to be calling me back for a week now. I ring every day !! apparently according to there website it states "takes the headache out of accident damage" its enough stress to give you a heart attack. How hard is it to give the customer a phone call - Told admiral work is sub-standard and customer service is a joke. Hope Admiral does not pay them. - Never take your car there !!

What an absolute shambles this company is! Aviva approved repairer so car went there. Car collected promptly enough, left courtesy car which had a limited mileage allowance and no breakdown cover. They expect you to arrange your own breakdown cover!!! After complaining to Aviva the mileage restriction was lifted and Aviva agreed to cover for breakdown FOC.
My car took two weeks to finish, during which time I was given no updates.

I collected the car and immediately spotted problems, the front wing they replaced was not fitted properly the shut lines were almost overlapping on one side!! The wing was also scratched, they had painted it! The headlight was scratched up during the accident they did not replace it. The front wheel had been bent over too although they had replaced the wheel when I drove the car it didn't feel right so it took it to Kwik Fit and the tracking was miles out!

Also while they had the car they damaged two of my alloy wheels which were previously perfect. All these points were raised with NCRC who agreed to put it all right. Nearly 3 weeks later they had not contacted me, when I called themm they acted as if they knew nothing about my problems, asked to speak to the manager, kept on hold for 10mins then the manager wasn't there... yeah right...

Spoke to Aviva and have told them NCRC are to go know where near my car ever again... A local Vauxhall dealer will be sorting our there mess and damage..

DO NOT USE THESE COWBOYS!!!

“My car was hit while stationary, and my bumper was...”

written by Robert J Wills on 29/11/2010

My car was hit while stationary, and my bumper was scratched, the insurance company sent my car to National Accident Repair in Baldock. National accident repair called me to arrange collection of the car, i told them thye car was driveable and we were about to go away for a week end break, so if they couldn't get it back to us before we went to arrange a date for after we get back. They said no, we'll have it back next week, its only a scratch on the bumper. So i let them have it. Cutting a long story very short, after many phone calls, asking about progress and getting clearly lied to, I had to call and complain to the insurance company, which in fact took it seriously and contacted the manager of Nationwide Crash Repair and must of told them to deliver it back to, however it turned up at 4pm, with 2 dents, chewing gum stuck to the rear seats, sweet wrappers in the front foot well, clutch burning smell, and engine burnt virtually out, oil dripping on the driveway. The car was perect, less the few scratches when it went in, and came back looking like it was in a banger race, the complaints are on going.

Do not use this company, tell your insurers to not to send your car here, this is the 2nd time we have had dealings with them.

Rude, Arrogant, Offensive, Aggressive and Incompitant, do not use them.

Update
After a lot of complaining, and having to battle over many hurdles, they were forced by the lease company, to put things right

written by on 23/11/2010

When i was rear ended my insurance company told me to take my Ford New Mondeo Ghia to Walsall Nationwide Crash Centre, I booked my car in for 9th November and said I would take it in for them to look at so they could order the parts, this I did the next day but found it had not been booked in and the next slot was 15th November, I was told it would take 2 weeks for the repaires to be completed, When the time came the courtesy car was a Corsa 1.2 with 3K on its clock, the staff spent a long time defrosting it while i stayed in the warm reception but it should have been cleaned properly as the inside and outside was dirty, I checked this website and started to worry! But I was kept well informed via texts and calls, their website was kept up to date with the progress and my car was completed in half the time they said, it was thouroughly cleaned, all documents were presented i.e. 3 year guarentee and a list of the works carried out. Overall i was very satisfied with this company

Having heard from the insurer that we were to use Nationwide Crash Repair following a wallop to the wing mirror that rendered the car undriveable, I looked at reviews of the company and was a bit anxious. However: car was collected by a knowledgeable, helpful man when it was supposed to be collected, and courtesy car provided. Car was returned all mended within 8 days, and all communications during the week with the people in the office were very good with calls returned within minutes as promised if the person I was after was on the phone at the time. I didn't have any problems.

I saw other reviews for Nationwide Crash Repair Centre on this site and was rather nervous of using them as the insurance company recommended repairer, after sombody rear-ended our car. However, I was very satisfied by the service from the Baldock branch; the original estimate was quick and competent, the car was booked in at a time to suit us and the repairs have been carried out very well with no complaints whatsoever. Very satisfied overall and would happily use again is we ever need to (hopefully not!)

“I was forced to use this company through my insurance...”

written by on 25/10/2010

I was forced to use this company through my insurance company and wish too god i stayed with a previous insurer!
I was unfortunate enough to have a french lady drive in the side of me in May and Nationwide were appointed my repairer. They came and collected my car at the end of June whilst I was away on holiday, as they said they had no spare courtesy cars to give me until mid summer. The car went away and upon my return i checked the car over to find the new bumper they had fitted hanging off, the new headlight fitting was not fitted correctly, the glue they had used to fit the headlamp was hanging down the side of my car, the bonnet was out of alignment, the list goes on! I contacted my insurer who got the garage to call me and they say that the car did not leave their garage in that state and therefore i must have damaged it myself, for which they are not willing to deal with!
I then kicked up so much of stink that they agreed to come and collect the car and leave me with a courtesy car. The car was gone for 4 weeks and came back with nothing sorted, a broken seat and a broken clutch! Nationwide say that they have nothing to do with the new problems and my insurance say the same!
Good luck if you ever have to use this garage! I'm changing my insurer so that i dont ever have to come across these cowboys again.

written by on 12/10/2010

This company is absolutely awful. Unfortunately, they were appointed by my insurance company so I had no choice but to use them to repair my car. They send out mixed messages about the progress of the repair, and no one seems to be in overall command of the situation. A job that should have taken a week or so took over 5 in the end. Even then, then the job needed extra work which, at time of writing, is still not complete and it has been 3 weeks. Now the manager is on holiday for 10 days as well!
The courtesy car lent to me had a dangerous front tyre - which I had to get replaced, albeit at their expense. If it were not for the business provided by insurance companies they would be have been out of business a long time ago. Absolute cowboys and I shall be advising my insurance company to stop using them.

At week seven for waiting for our car to come back, this was for a minor accident. Have had four wrong completion dates, everytime I ring to see if car is ready they put me off. Wouldnt have chosen the company, but our insurance company uses it.....for some strange reason. I'm actually beginni9ng to wonder if we'll ever see the car again! The courtesy car they gave us is totally unsuitable for a family of four, and seems to eat petrol like nothing on earth. Really worried about the car coming back now after reading other reviews on here, ie: will it be damaged? All I can say is do not use this company if you can help it.

written by on 29/09/2010

what a terrible company, they've had my car for 6 weeks and still counting, it took them 2 weeks to compile the estimate and inspecting their first attempt at repairing my car [at the end of week 5] took me all of 5 minutes to find numerous faults - scratches on a BRAND NEW [?] wing and bumper and damage to the wheels [that obviously should have been replaced].

Their communication is woeful too - you ring and nobody answers the phone, you then ring the head office who say "we'll get them to call you" and they don't.

If you're unfortunate to have a car accident, don't make it worse and please chose another crash repair company.

I found this review very helpful because...This really is a true account of what happens, I too have had the misfortune of my vehicle sent to a Nationwide CRC by insurance company...oh god if only I had waited and had it sent to a dealership, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
<br/>If you want a job done properly then honestly stay away from them, they have not got a clue how to do things properly....BODYSHOP I hear you say, SHOCK more like it, well stay away is my advice if you want your car sorted, several attempts to sort(not) : (

“My car was sent to Nationwide by my insurers after a...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/09/2010

My car was sent to Nationwide by my insurers after a parking bump which broke the rear bumper and one light cluster. It took more than a month to repair and the completion date was revised a couple of times. During the repair period I was given a "courtesy" car which was handed back when I picked up my own car. Everything was OK until I was invited to examine some damage to the courtesy car. (Two blemishes and a stone chip on the bottom of the front vallance)
The company raised a claim with my insurers to cover the cost of repair! These blemishes were obviously not the result of an accident or even carelessness. I would not have noticed them on my own car and even if I had, I would not consider raising an insurance claim. I have, as a result of this, lost my no-claims bonus entirely. This company remember is a "crash repair centre" who could have had an apprentice with T-cut out to fix it in the time it took me to fill in the paperwork. Actually it would probably have taken them a couple of weeks when I think about it. This company is obviously the firm of choice for several insurance companies but I think it is time for them to be re-assessed. Coincidentally two acquaintencies of mine had thair cars in at the same time and it seems obvious that when the work is an insurance claim they go for the expensive option every time.

Never Never use Nationwide Crash Repair. My Freelander 2 had two fairly minor dents caused by a French lady at a car park. I have seen similar dents fixed for a a few hundred and fixed to a high standard in a couple of days. Initially there was confusion whether the job had been given the go ahead this needed two visits. Then, when it was booked in the estimator said it would take 8 days. I tracked the progress on the web site and for a week nothing was done. On the second week it seemed to be progressing and by the Friday the tracker system said it was ready for collection However its not and I was given some excuse that the quality control had found a problem. Its still not ready this has caused me major hassles and ruined my plans for the weekend. They take on too much work than they can cope with and customers come second to profit. I feel its poorly managed operation and would never use them again. Very Poor.

“Nationwide Crash Repair I have never in my life known...”

Nationwide Crash Repair I have never in my life known a bunch of Muppets!!

My wife had had a crash in her seat Ibiza just over twelve months ago she was side swiped the off side wing and head light cluster where damaged and also in the crash the door was shunted making it unable to open and as well the eclectic window fell down!

Her insurance company arranged for the repairs to be done at this so called crash repairs center "what a joke" they came asked what was wrong she told them what was wrong with the car they tock it a way!

They had it for 4 weeks then when the work was done they just came dropped the car of and left.
When she when out to look at the car she noticed that the driver's side window had tape all round it, she pulled off the tape and as you would expect it fell down into the door!

She rang me up at work I came round in my lunch hour to have a look it seemed they had had put in a new window mechanism!

I tried to open the driver's door to have a look before ringing them up about this but when I tried to look the door it would not close.

When I rang them up to tell them about the problems they said to bring it back and they would have a look at it so I did so!
They said they would take it round to the repair to have a look at it for me and it would only take a few minutes and to take a seat.

After 15 minutes wait they came in and said that the window I at the time of was working and they would not replace it "Arrrr" which was a bit off a joke as it was ok before the crash.

They said they had sorted out the door and gave me the keys he was just about to leave when I stopped him and said shall we look over the car together to make sure everything is ok with it.

When I looked over the car there was a gap of 2cm's between the door and the wing I pointed this out to him and he said that was fine I said really "before telling him what I did as a job" well why is there only a gap of 1 cm on the passengers' side then?

Then he came up with the most stupid thing I have ever heard, he said all cars are made on a production line and the gap can vary form side to side Hmm!

At this point I told him he was wrong where he said no sir I have been doing this job for ten years and you are wrong.
I said I'm wrong am I he said yes you are Oh really am I would you like to know what I do for a livening then! He said not really sir which just made me mad "how rude can someone be".

I said I'm going to tell you anyway I'm a master Tec for Seat and what you have told me is wrong!
But he would not back down so left!

To cut a even longer story short the car has been the same sine they had it!

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY, WASTE OF TIME AND I DON'T THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!

Was told to use Nationwide(Bournemouth) by my Insurer. Did not phone in advance to collect damaged vehicle, so all items not removed from car (these were no longer in car when it returned). Repairs took longer than estimated, although I expected this I constantly had to chase for updates and revised dates. When the car was delivered back the panel gaps were incorrect, headlight fit incorrect, underside of bonnet not laquered, overspray on rubber trim, scuff marks on other trim from mop, origional dealer numberplate(unbroken) replaced with there own. Not the quality or care I would expect for any repair, let alone a year old performance car. Would not let them touch a car of mine again.

My insurance company had me send my 1 year old mini to the Cardiff Crash Centre after a rear end bump. I was rather dubious after reading the reports on here however I found them to be helpful, they came to my place of work to pick up the car, quick, repairs were completed within 7 days and the work that was done to my car was fantastic. It looks exactly as it did before the accident (except a little cleaner as they gave it a mini valet) and I couldn't be happier.

I was forced to use this dreadful company by my insurance. The accident which damaged my front drivers side wing, light & bumper should have been a straightforward repair. When I picked the car up the drivers door creaked as it rubbed against the new front wing & took the paintwork off.How they missed that when they opened the door I don't know.Car kept in but when fetched back for 2nd time had scratches on nearside, chunk out of paintwork above nearside headlight, rubbing down compound all over engine, engine compartment & soundproofing, casing for alarm button missing under bonnet, electric aerial bolt damaged, body moulding damaged & hole cut in sill rather than remove it to take wing off & put new one on.Driver's door central locking no longer works.Staff unapologetic & slovenly.Dreading going back as insurance say they must have another chance!

All branches operate under the same ownership, it would not make any difference which branch you go to. They use cheap copy parts and are not equivalent to genuine parts for the price I was charged to restore my car from nationwide I could have had my car repaired with genuine parts. They just fixed one side of my bumper rather than taking the bumper off and fixing it back onto both bumper brackets, one side of my bumper looks out of place, absolutely awful service and they refused to fully fix my bumper, they ripped me off!
Report this content NationwideRepairs Written on: 27/05/2016
We would just like to clarify the following: When authorised to do so by the customer's insurance company, we will use OEM parts. In accordance with our agreements with insurance companies, we will, where possible, repair rather than replace. However, if the finished repair is not expected to be to our normal high standards then we will request authorisation to replace any necessary parts.

Hi, they were the approved repairer by our insurance company and I was initially concerned because it was a 1 year old mercedes. I spoke to them and voiced all my concerns and they gave me their assurance that everything would be done and carried out in a professional manner at a time to suit us, which it was. Everything was carried out and completed to a high standard without any problems.

Do they use original factory parts or cheaper pattern parts? Would they cut out a large dent in my wheel arch and replace with metal or just pull it out and use filler?

Thanks for answering this question.

Not sure if original or not and I expressed my concerns direct with them as our car was a mercedes. One they knew the body panel was actually split not just dented the panel was replaced and all paintwork blended to match perfectly, even had an inflated hot room on our drive to allow this to happen. Job completed professionally and efficiently with as little inconvenience to us as possible.

Can't answer this question directly since my car did not have this type of repair, all I can say is I was entirely happy with the quality of the repair and service provided by Nationwide Dumfries

I would never use them again. They repaired my nissan x train and the bonnet doesn't fit propally. The car was returned to me with a radiator that hadn't been replaced and was leaking everywhere and to top it all they broke my wing mirror. Avoid at all costs is all I would say as I would never trust them to repair my car again

It will depend on your Insurance Company and their policy as to whether genuine or non genuine parts are used. As regards repairing or replacing the dent in your wheel arch - this will depend on the amount of damage. We would normally prefer to repair rather than replace as we get tend to get a better overall finish, however, if a replacement body panel is required then of course we will replace it rather than repair. I hope this information helps!

The honest answer is I don't know. You could just ask them when you take it to them, that seems to be the sensible thing to do. My personal opinion of this company is that they are rubbish, however, some of the local body shops they use are great. Like Russian roulette with a .357 Magnum ????

Does anyone know what the warranty procedure is for repairs done by my local branch of Nationwide? My wife and I have been trying (over several visits) to get the local branch to check why my air-conditioning - which was repaired by them - is not working anymore. It is within the 1 year warranty, and we feel that our issue is not being looked into at all. I've now gone to the local Toyota dealer, spent about £60, and they have checked and said the problem is with the same pipe that Nationwide was supposed to have fixed. Needless to say, we are not happy with the service from the local branch of Nationwide. I was just with them about 20 minutes ago, and they have asked me to provide the report that Toyota dealer has provided, and they would contact them directly. Not sure exactly why. I would have thought the normal warranty procedure would be for Nationwide to check where the leak is and if it's the same pipes then they would simply fix the problem. We look forward to your reply. Thanks.

Can you please let me know which centre you are dealing with so I can look into the matter? We provide a warranty on all our repairs and so if the pipe which we fitted has now failed due to a fault with the pipe or the fitting, we will of course replace it. However, we will need to ascertain what exactly is wrong and the cause of the failure. From the information you have provided, my guess is that the person you spoke to at the repair centre felt it would be sensible to speak to the Toyota garage seeing as they have already inspected your vehicle. However, until I know which centre you are dealing with I can only assume this is the case. Please rest assured we will do all we can to help you get this matter resolved. If you can provide the centre details that will help me to find out more information, thank you.

They picked ours up day after reporting incident to insurance company ! They did offer a quicker pick up but next day suited us best.

My experience was similar to UrbanAngel, a mutual beneficial time for collection was arranged over the phone, although I'm sure Nationwide would have been happy to collect my vehicle within 24 hours !! :-)

Try ringing your local Nationwide and ask them!

The best thing to do is call your local repair centre (please check out our website for the list of repair centres). They will then be able to arrange a mutually convenient time.

I took my car to them but they were willing to collect my car at any time to my convenience on the day it was due in ,which was less than a week from taking it for a quotation, I suppose it will depend how busy they are. Dannyp

Same day for me. Fast repairs, and fast return. Looked great and when I sold it through Evans Halshaw Ford, they didn't even check the repair after they found out Nationwide had done it!
