“Remarkable little hotel”

★★★★☆

written by mcclainfun on 02/06/2012

My wife and I stayed a week in one of the quietest, best run hotels we've visited. The Radisson Edwardian Leicester Square Hotel had a staff filled with the desire to make our stay memorable. All the action of Leister Square, Trafagar Square and the West End Theatres were in easy walking distance. At 75 years old, an afternoon nap became important. That is why we appreciated the quiet inside our room knowing full well that just outside was bubbling over with excitement. This is a perfect location to begin walking tours of this part of London. We did find find, however, that our taxi and airport shuttle drivers confused our hotel with the larger Radisson Edwardian hotel directly on the Square. We will go back the next time in London. Sam and Jane McClain

“metropole hotel blackpool”

written by on 21/05/2012

We recently stayed here with a coach holiday company and enjoyed our stay .The situation was ideal being by the North Pier and on the promenade with trams and buses passing regularly. The decoration in the hotel was most attractive particulary in the main vestibule and in the dining room. The food was good on a self service basis and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were fortunate to have a good and roomy bedroom overlooking the promenade and pier.

“Premier Inn, Arundel”

★★★★★

written by carole moore on 28/04/2012

This is a brilliant hotel for the price paid. It's in a lovely countryside situation, very quiet with a friendly Beefeater Restaurant serving excellent food. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the room extremely clean. It was a little difficult to turn right onto the main road when exiting the hotel but that is not the fault of the hotel. Had a really nice stay and will definitely be returning.

“The Oasis Hotel, Llandudno North Wales”

★★★★☆

written by Kathmarg on 27/04/2012

The family run hotel was so friendly, more like a home. Ann and Dave couldn't have been more helpful along with Janette who was bubbly. Food was great, the bar well stocked. Our bedroom was really comfortable and clean. Close to the Venue Cymru Centre. The shops, pier etc. We hope to return again. Kath and Tony

“Villa Owner - Do not trust their review system”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Vincent1964 on 16/03/2012

We had our villa advertised with Trip Adviser {Villa Cora in Fuerteventura} . In Feb 2012 we rented our villa to a family from the UK { chap by the name of Will } and they caused allot of damage to the villa, left their children run riot and left them unsupervised around the pool area. I found a large rock thrown into the pool, and gravel was also thrown into the pool. A large expensive vase worth 200 Euro was smashed. They basically thrashed the place from the time they arrived to the time they left. Their departure gesture was to leave a garden water tap turned on at full force, so when we arrived to check the villa after they had left we were meet with a pool of water at our driveway. Having spoken to the guests about this, the guests then decided to write a review and they posted it on Trip Adviser. The review that was submitted amounted to a character assignation of me the villa owner because I had words with the family about the damaged caused to the villa. After seeing the review we asked Trip Adviser for assistance as we the villa owners were the victims of a review that was clearly a smear campaign. They offered little or no support. It was the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. We have since removed our villa from their web site, and I would advise any villa owner who wishes to advertise their villa to do the same. Vincent Fuerteventura

Hello Vincent - as a property owner I can support what you say abot the Trip Advisor process - guests whosignificantly misbeahve and cause damage have carte blance to continue this damage with malicious reviews on Trip Advisor, often exhorting their friends to do so as well. Respopnding to the rewviews of these people often reults in the posting of further negative reviews. Reporting the issue to Trip Advisr, as you say, results in little or not action and being in another country, legal action against tTrip Advisor is usuall beyond the means of most small business owners.

“Easy to use”

★★★★★

written by rupal2 on 29/02/2012

Before I book any hotel I always check out reviews for the hotel first. My first point of contact is either Trip Advisor or Review Centre. On a few occasions, I have read mixed reviews about the hotel in question. I do still tend to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt, unless the reviews are all really bad. So far I haven't had an unpleasant stay. The site is easy to use, and you can even search for hotels in the area, to see which is the best one for you. I like the fact that they tell you how well rated your hotel is compared to the others in the area, for example Hotel x is 9 out of 679. You can also check out questions other people have asked, and the responses they have got. Overall a great site to use.

But prone to fake and biased reviews. They dont check that the person writing the review has actually stayed at the property.

As a contributor to TripAdvisor, I do understand the concerns of other users of the website, namely that there isn't any authentication of the contributor.

However, all contributors have a public profile and genuine contributors will have also filled in details such as favourite destinations for example, and will be more likely to provide a true review of the hotel/destination.

Many of us enjoy reviewing, and receiving feedback from other users, and would never fake a review for whatever reason.

Just recently returned from a package holiday to Thailand booked through Global Travel UK ( Holiday Collection) which entailed 3 flights either way getting there was no problem but coming back our flights did not connect, so we ended up stranded in Malaysia with no help from GT UK whatsoever it cost us £1200 to get home and GT UK blamed us for not checking tickets and times so in the end it cost us quite a lot of money because of their stupidity, So my advice is if you are looking for a package holiday steer clear of Global Travel UK ( Holiday Collection)

pffffff... what is the point of that website? it is full of people used to 5 star hotels writing bad comments about hostels. when you are a cheap person wanting to pay less than £15 a night, don't expect gold plates and silver linen.
about every hostel and B&B i have stayed in, they are saying it is the worst, avoid and stuff, and i must say they were (almost) all pretty decent ones. what is the point guys, you have a partnership with hilton?
and i am not talking about the pop up windows that keep appearing (with firefox?!?)

trip advisor is biased and only goes on say so and not actual facts, but it is very good at putting bad reviews first and forget the good ones. All in all it is a site not to be trusted

Tripadvisor is corrupt and only puts up reviews on a whim. My honest review on Coat Aillis holiday gites was removed after 5 weeks and then fake glowing reports were allowed to stay. Do NOT trust Tripadvisor!

Tripadvisor has gone down the toilet. Bans users who question their policies, allows their precious Destination experts to have their own forum where the belittle and joke about the average punters who use the site. Although harrassment is not tolerated on the open forums the DE only forum is littered with entire threads devoted to bagging other users. Tripadvisor buys their loyalty with gifts and prizes for lame competitions like Best Avatar. Only a small minority of DEs dare to disagree in public. Worse than OTC forum for bad behaviour; in comparison makes the folk on LV forum seems like angels.

I have used Trip Advisor several times, however the top rating by users did not match the reality. I have been traveling for the past 6 years in europe, and when I see some of the ratings of the hot spots, they seem very unreal. Amsterdam is one example where top rated spots , were just normal places reccomended by regualr books, but are not very popular or interesting or "the best museum in Amsterdam" or even "this museum made my day"

I think the Trip Advisor website is brilliant. I have been using it for a number of years now and when looking for a destination or hotel to stay in, I always check on there to look at the photos of other guests and to see what they have written about their own experience. I also like the fact that you can put pins in a map to show where you have been and this application can now also be brought into your facebook account. I always now add my own reviews of places too and like the fact that people can recommend your review etc and send you messages / questions regarding your trip.
