Had the Fonesafe phone insurance and never used it. I called to cancel the direct debit and they continued to take payments.

One day the speaker on my C905 sony erricson decided to stop working. This made my phone virtually unusable as i could not recieve calls unless on speakerphone. I had not dropped/damaged the phone in any way, but figured my insurance would cover this - wrong! I called Fonesafe Mobile Phone Insurance, and informed them of my problem, only to be told that they could do nothing uless the phone had SUPERFICIAL DAMAGE wtf? So, basically, i simply shold have stamped on the phone beforehand, smashing it to pieces, then maybe they would have been able to help? Absolutely useless.

written by ThatKat on 16/06/2009

I took out a contract for my son via t-mobile and took the recommended insurance. Tmobile knew this phone was for my son. Now 8 months later the phone has suffered screen damage and fonesafe refuse to honour the policy because the phone was in my son's possession and not mine at the time the damage occurred. I was not informed when tmobile sold me the insurance that the phone would only be covered whilst in my possession as I would not have taken it. so effectively I have been paying all these months but the handset was never really covered. Both tmobile and fonesafe deny responsibility for this.

Have just had to cancel with Fonesafe Mobile Phone Insurance as they were taking Direct Debit payments when they shouldn't have been (taking too much, random dates). Have now spent the last 3 weeks trying to get a refund, faxes keep going 'missing' and keep getting different stories from their representatives when trying to sort out. Insurance can be found cheaper elsewhere.

Fonesafe Mobile Phone Insurance are the worse phone insurance company i have ever used and are incapble of dealing with any problems i had with my phone. i lost my phone so i claimed a new one and they sent me one that was faulty i sent it back twice for them to repair and still no joy. they will not replace the phone again even though it was them who gave me a broken phone so there was no point at all for me paying insurance to them!!

My phone was stolen and then they ran up a bill of over £90 on my phone within the first hour of taking it! I have been trying to sort out my claim for airtime abuse with very little cooperation from fonesafe mobile phone insurance. It seems I have had to do all the work in terms of finding out information from T mobile and I have ended up jumping through hoops just for them to find yet another thing for me to do before they can sort it out. Totally unacceptable! I have written a letter of complaint but I have not received a response. I would urge anyone reading this not to take out insurance with these people! T Mobile cannot understand why fonesafe won't comply with my claim and said there is no reason why they should not honour my request. I think fonesafe CPPi s the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with.

I made a claim to Fonesafe Mobile Phone Insurance a year ago because i had lost my phone, and i hadn't told them that i had a new IMEI number. They were fine with it and said all i had to do was get t-mobile to send a fax to confirm that i had infact changed my phone, and all was resovled, i got my replacement. Fast forward one year, after still paying the £6.99 a month, and i am in the same situation- although, this time, they are refusing to do it! It doesnt seem to matter that it is the same situation as last time, only this time the screen was cracked. Reason? 'You did your upgrade over the phone and not in person' Needless to say i cancelled my insurance then and there.

Same with me as well just because I upgraded over the phone. I had been paying £6.99 a month for nothing.

I had my phone in my handbag and looked at it the following day to notice that the screen had been cracked. I contacted Fonesafe insurance to let them know a couple of days later - I had not been able to contact them sooner due to being quite busy at work. The person at Fonesafe who took my call said he would have to decline my claim as I had not reported the damage 48 hours after it had happened. I immediately cancelled my insurance.
All I can say is if you decide to take out insurance with fonesafe make sure you read all the small print and be prepared to be spoken to like a criminal when you ring them to make a claim!

My Phone fell into a pool of water. I claimed within the fonesafe 48 hours, but was told the handset IMEI on their database was not the same as the damaged handset!
Despite the fact that I could prove the history of the handsets and that the IMEI they had was exchanged by T-Mobile the claim has been refused on the grounds that I had not informed them of the change of handset.

We have 7 handsets insured with fonesafe. How unlucky am I?
Recently one of our handsets screen got damamged it took fonesafe a month to lodge the claim as they had insured the wrong handsets eventully, after a month of writing 8 letters and 20 odd phonecalls they said out of goodwiil we will process the claim as we do not normally do this as a claim has to be processed within 48hrs.
The communication between T-Mobile and Fonesafe is absoloutly riddiculous... they both claim they have nothing to do with each other, if so, then why do T-Mobile recommend them as their insurance company.

I accidently left my phone in my pocket when I undertook to wash them.. Off course now water damaged. I went through the whole process of the claim only to be told at the end that although I am paying it stipulated in their terms and conditons that water damage is not covered.!!

Last Wednesday I had my handbag stolen from work and one of the items in my bag was my Nokia N95. They sent me the claim form so I filled in all the details including my police crime number and put down when and where my phone was at the time of the theft. Two days later I got a phone call saying " We are sorry but on this occassion we will not be able to cover the theft of your phone" I was in tears as there is no way that I can afford to replace my £200 phone, I asked them why they will not cover for the theft and then said "Because the phone was UNATTENDED" I have never heard something so stupid in all my life! Absolute nonsence, no one can keep a phone on them 24/7!

When claim logged, call handler abrupt and curt. Quick enough to take my excess without any pleases or thankyou's. Customer service skills a disgrace. Told operative (on Monday) that I was going on hols following Monday. Could not commit to guaranteeing I would have a replacement by the Saturday. I have returned my phone as per instruction, they received it Wednesday, now Saturday afternoon, still no phone. Now looking at potentially up to 3 weeks before getting a replacement as post office will only hold it for up to 14 days. I disgrace. I feel like T-mobile aren't interested, saying fonesafe are a 3rd party- a 3rd party however recommended and promoted by t-mobile! Do not go with fonesafe. Shop around there are better deals and better service! I AM ANGRY.

Two separate claims were initially declined when I was read terms and conditions which were different to mine! The second time they said the terms and conditions had been altered and I had been informed by text message of this.

written by on 03/06/2008

I accidentally left my mobile phone in my trousers and put them in the washing machine. When I claimed with Fonesafe Mobile Phone Insurance as the phone did not work It was declined. I pointed out to them that the policy says I am covered for water damage and they said I should have checked the pockets and that I was negligent. What a waste of money this has been for the last 12 months £84 spent of insurance and I have just had to go out and buy a new phone. I was honest and told them exactly what happened, I should have said I lost it!

When I purchased my phone I was asked if I wanted Insurance, as my household insurance covers phone I declined I signed for nothing and did not give any bank details, I have just been sent a letter to say annual premium of £83.88 has been taken out of my bank account and a direct debit set up for following payments.

written by NA109 on 11/12/2007

My handset became damaged. Since I didn't know what was wrong, I thought it might correct itself. I waited 2 weeks and then was told I couldn't make a claim as it should be made within 48 hours. That's fine for lost or stolen phones, but damaged phones should be more flexible. My honesty cost me 18 months of wasted insurance premiums. I could have bought a new handset for that!
