“Beware”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 12/07/2017

Took out annual insurance and you have to tell them every time you or a member of your family go to the doctors or your policy can be void. Coughs, colds, ear wax, constipation, childs ailments, and every time they charge you £10 admin fee for the privilege! You are even supposed to tell them if any other member of your extended family visits the doctor, even if you don't know! Or run the risk of a void policy if their illness (or death) prevents you going on holiday.

“Most unhelpful company. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KamilaMcCracken on 16/05/2017

Staysure sold us a travel policy with all medical condition disclosed and agreed. Price quoted and agreed. Policy rec'd four weeks before travelling and happy with it. Ten days before travelling they rang and cancelled a couple of things on the policy REASON BEING THEY MADE A MISTAKE. TOP IT ALL MANAGER'S COMMETT WAS " YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL WE HAVE REFUNDED YOU THE FULL AMOUNT". We did not cancel, they amended it after the 14 day cancellation period and were the most unhelpful on the phone. The manager did not have the nerve to come to the phone . He relayed messages through the poor sales person. WHAT A MANAGER !!!!!!!! Would never recommend them to anybody especially if you are a RENAL PATIENT

“Staysure Travel Insurance Renewal”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/03/2017

I received a letter from Staysure telling me my holiday insurance would renew if I didn't contact them. The sum for the renewal was in excess of £300. My deep concern is for elderly people who receive correspondence telling you the renewal will take place if the don't hear from you. What happens if you misinterpret the letter and don't contact Staysure? They take your money out of your bank account!! It's just another method of extracting money from the bank accounts of existing customers without expressed permission. No doubt they fall back on terms and conditions when you first take out a policy. When will companies understand that elderly people are vulnerable and may never be aware they have been charged for something they didn't want. Staysure say they have written confirming their intention and you can phone and say you do not want them to proceed. How would my late father have had any idea what they were proposing as he was blind and would not been able to respond. What if your away or in hospital and not aware of their letter. How much money is Staysure extracting from bank accounts from unknowingly previous customers without them ever being aware.

Following a fall in France, resulting in a broken femur, we contacted Staysure who immediately put us on to their medical assistance team and from then on we had no worries at all. Everything was taken out of our hands and we were able, at any time, to contact them if we had any questions or worries. They arranged repatriation to the UK by ambulance (at the insistence of the French Orthopaedic Consultant) without any fuss and the ambulance firm contracted to do the journey was Mosaic. They in turn were exceptionally helpful, polite, friendly and always concerned for my husband's and my own welfare and comfort. They returned us right to our front door and we would strongly recommend Staysure and their team and Mosaic Ambulance. Worth every penny.

“Claim accepted..still not paid 1 year later!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by joanie1309 on 02/03/2017

After a lot of difficulty in getting Staysure to accept a very straightforward claim for emergency treatment nearly a year after the occurrence - they agreed to pay it on 27/7/15. I even wrote on my review 'Have just had news they have accepted the claim...' was very appreciative..thanks to V and A from Staysure for their very courteous efficient handling of the matter'. Now I have received a letter from a DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY....requesting payment of the hospital invoice!!!! Obviously rang Staysure...22 extensions later no wiser... computer says no' 'sorry don't exist' 'no record'...despite the fact that I have an extant policy with them and have been a customer for years!! So much for technology or is it the human error factor?? Computer say NO??? Am now beginning to be a tad irritated..I certainly do not want my credit rating to be affected by this. I was insured, I received emergency treatment on a European Health Card, I was charged when I was assured by the Hospital I wouldn't be... what is the PROBLEM?

“Waste of my time”

On 22nd February we were sent an e-mail offering us a 15% discount if we renewed our travel insurance. Today 27th February when I phoned up to renew my policy after a 15 minute wait on the phone, I was told that Staysure have changed their policy and no longer offer insurance to UK Expats in Italy. So what I didn't like about it is that you have wasted my time twice, once by sending me an email, when you knew I lived in Italy offering me insurance and the second time when I phoned up to arrange it you told me after 15 minutes that you no longer offered it. Can I give you a Customer Service Rating of nought (0) stars. Yes, I just have!

Was delayed coming home from my holiday and missed my connecting flight and when I phone up to make a claim for being delayed. It was pointed out that I should have told them that I had a connecting flight and I was not cover because I did not take out an additional policy for this . Please be aware on this as this was my 1st time traveling like this and I did not know and the company did not advise me of this .

“Be Very Careful”

★★★☆☆

written by on 21/10/2016

A couple of weeks ago this would have been an incendiary indictment of Staysure but - alls well that ends well. At 87 with a heart condition insurance is quite a problem but Staysure are one of the few who take it on. Why very careful? Because they observe the get-out clauses rigidly. Probably no worse than the others I suppose. If you have to add or alter a medical condition DO IT BY THE BOOK. I have just had a difficult few weeks with a lot of persistence proving that I am not a fraudster but simply a bit careless. Actually, in fairness, the people who need a good kicking here are not Staysure but my own GP and the hospital. It's a long story. Would I use Staysure again? Not sure. I have 2 more cruises coming up but I think I will take a look at Nick Trend's recommendations first.

On holiday in Cyprus My husband slipped on a wet surface and had a nasty head injury, he was taken by ambulance to a Hospital, had tests done and he had to spend four nights as an impatient, the clinic dealt with Stay sure on our behalf, no trouble what so ever dealt with quickly and proffesionaly, what a weight off my mind what a fantastic company to deal with I would never use any one for travel insurance but Staysure and the journey when the doctor finally gave permission for my husband to travel home was a dream, I spoke to a young lady from mayflower on behalf of Staysure who arranged a taxi to the airport then help through the airport and finally after a good flight there was a wonderfully nice man at the other end who took us straight to our front door and even put our cases inside for us what a company I cannot thank and praise them for their help and consideration, I have even received a phone call from them to make sure we had sure we had arrived home, what company great just great, unbelievable to receive service that is so spectacular, thank you Staysure .Fantastic

“Rude customer service”

written by Roche476 on 24/08/2016

Just spoke to your customer service dept regarding renewing my travel policy. I left the policy to auto renew but forgot I had changed banks since last year. Although my policy has only lapsed by 2 days I was told I had to ring a different number to go thru a new quote. Your customer service lady was very rude and said it was my own fault for not sending new bank details I explained I had forgotten, so I will be going elsewhere for my insurance

“Excellent support - Staysure travel insurance”

★★★★★

written by suelebou on 15/07/2016

Earlier this year, my elderly father had a fall while visiting me in Cyprus. I took him to A & E at a private hospital, and Staysure assured me he could stay for the initial 24 hours while tests were completed. When it became clear he needed to be hospitalised for longer, this was extended for another 24 hours when he would be transferred to the general hospital. It soon became clear that there would be difficulties moving him to the general, and Staysure agreed to fund the entire week in the private facility. There was no hassle, no pressure - and my father received the best care. On his release from hospital, Staysure re-booked his return flight and then sent a nursing assistant to carry out 'fit to fly'checks, before accompanying him on the flight back to UK. The support Staysure provided was second to none, and they dealt with all the relevant administration matters leaving me able to focus on my father's care. I will certainly recommend them to friends - in fact I have done so already!

Just organised travel insurance, it was very organised and professional felt everything was covered. We could not have done this on our own the person I dealt with was exceptional, with patience, understanding and great knowledge (went the extra mile). We don't know if price was reasonable or not, but because of the service, we paid with no intention of looking elsewhere. Only good things to say really - if anyone is listening he deserves an extra tea break!

“Generally a positive experience - I will use them again”

★★★★☆

written by Sarahlabat on 08/06/2016

I had to cancel my holiday to Sri lanka for my 50th birthday as I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. I didn't cancel immediately because I didn't know what my treatment would be and I also was told by Air France that they would be happy to give me a credit note or reschedule the flights for a later date - I quite liked this idea because it would be something to look forward to at the end of the treatment. In the end I needed chemotherapy which meant I would't be able to travel. I decided to cancel because the travel agent (e-bookers) would not agree to the credit note/reschedule (shameful company - never again). Anyway, to cut a long story short, there was a delay between diagnosis and claim of 2 months. There were lots of questions on the claim form requiring explanations about delays in claiming and having read some of the pretty bad reviews about Staysure I was convinced that they would use this or some other bit of small print to refuse our claim. However, they paid in full, with no question at all. It was a little slow, it took a month but then we are in France so maybe it took a bit longer to get/translate medical info. All in all a pretty good outcome and they are competitively priced (I didn't have any preexisting conditions), so I will be using them again.

“Travel Worries Gone”

written by HolidayhereIcome on 30/05/2016

Tried on-line and not really a problem but wanted to make sure I had not left anything out that might make the policy void. I could not have been more impressed and he was so patient. I have pre existing conditions so was a bit worried I would find cover very expensive but it was very competitive. I have used Staysure before and always found them reliable. Well done. The questions were straight forward and only having to list operations that were in the last two years helpful as not easy to remember ones from 40 years ago!

Assuming you paid the £1.99 for a posted copy, suggest you wait another week and then use their complaints process which is contained in their downloadable terms of business. Personally paying for a posted copy is a waste of money, did they not email you confirmation of cover and a policy? The posted copy will be exactly the same as the email attachment and there is no difference in the legal status of both documents.

I have just taken out a Worldwide comprehensive travel insurance for Xpats age 71 plus. Section 14 covering personal injuries resulting in death, loss of limb or sight in the proceeding 12 months only cover age 18-65. I have queried this with their help line and have been told it's because it is related to loss of earnings. There is not a single mention of loss of earnings in the section wording. Can you please explain to me why this is so? Surely the policy wording should make this clear if this is the case . I would appreciate a reply. Many thanks.

The answer is yes, given the completely unsatisfactory way that my insurance was sorted out by telephone you may well need to resort to demanding a refund during the cooling off period required for tele sales. I went elsewhere and will not return to this company.

Doubt it. look at the reviews. they have your money and you have no insurance. they kept taking money from my mum including this last payment when she was 81. when i phoned to ask for a claim form they asked why? i said she was ill and taken into hospital, therefore, i would like to claim the air fare for the holiday she wouldn't be going on.( this was in November 2014. the holiday is for Feb 2015.) they sent forms on internet, and i spent a whole day doing their work filling them in!!! my computer wouldn't send in PDF format which they insist on. i had to print off all the forms and post to them. early December i phoned to say she had died, and a stroppy adviser said well that's that then! we will not pay out your claim because you first said she was ill. i apparently am trying to claim twice and that nullifies their obligation to pay out. don't even try to get insurance with them. look at the reviews.!!!!no one has been paid!!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i am taking them to the FOS. they will pay through the courts....
