“Avoid care at Chelmsford”

★★☆☆☆

written by Matilda390 on 16/06/2019

I was looking forward to having a iced frappe from their summer menu as advertised in an email. There was a sign on the counter listing them but when ordered was told they had no ice. This was early in the morning so shouldn't have run out, they could have removed the sign. Had an iced tea instead which was so sweet i couldn't drink it.

“A disgruntled customer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by shirlhaylins on 02/09/2018

On 1st September we visited the Hereford store with the intention of using vouchers for tea, cake etc We asked the price of scones with jam and cream with a pot of tea and were told £8 for two. At the till it was £4.65 each and vouchers not valid. I also had a £25 gift voucher to spend but it took an age to find a member of staff to ask where in the store I could spend it. It turned out that apart from a few toys and books it could only be spent on your greatly inflated plants and garden furniture. I chose a childs game which I took to the till and there were seven people in front of me only one till open on a Sunday lunchtime! Eventually a second till was opened and instead of calling people over from the first queue the young man started serving people who had just arrived at the newly opened till! I was so angry that I went and asked why he had not been more pro active and was told one woman was waiting there before the till was opened. It was not his fault but down to his manager to explain how to behave. I asked to see the manager but they were not available and I saw the assistant manager. She had little to offer and I said I didn't blame her as they were obviously short of staff. I understand this chain of garden centres is up for sale and I got the impression that no one really cared. As for my gift voucher it will probably be wasted as this was not a good experience and not one I wish to repeat.

“Wyevale Kenilworth Road”

★★★★★

written by 423Baker on 01/09/2018

The garden centre is a good garden centre and there is a great range on offer. The staff are generally good but they have on outstanding young man who although is not a manager carries out roles and routines that a manager would do. He should congratulated on his work ethic, politeness and general demeanour. His presence makes us go back time and time again. Hopefully over time the management will see his worth and make use of his many talents.

“Wrong Table Delivered”

★★☆☆☆

written by stevebanks on 07/05/2018

Ordered 4 seat canterbury table and chairs plus 2 seat Canterbury bistro set, plus parasol and base from Chelmsford. Delivery arranged following weekend. Upon delivery being made by two very good delivery chaps who kept me in contact with delivery time, we noticed that the incorrect bistro table had been delivered. The customer services team were contacted and promised action asap. An hour later the same drivers collected the wrong table and were very apologetic. They informed myself, as had customer services, that the correct table would be delivered in 2 days. I left it at that. Today I enquired with customer services, and surprise surprise, denied any knowledge of incorrect table being delivered or re-delivery of correct table. I contacted the Chelmsford centre where we purchased it and spoke again to him. He spoke to the warehouse in Ipswich who said none of that type of table were available for some time. He has since sourced a table and we will collect this later today. Well done, but for WGC Customer Services people, well you are, sad to say, very poor.

“Disappointing Dinner”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 70Craig on 05/11/2017

Arrived at Wyevale Barnetts Hill Stourbridge with Wife and Son and ordered Three meals. Two Beef Madras Curries and a Hunters Chicken with a Baked Potato. However One Beef Madrass arrived accompanied by a Thai Green Curry but no Hunters Chicken. The Beef Madras was swimming in grease so was returned for cancellation by which time the Hunters CHicken (practically inedible) had arrived. This too was despatched back to the kitchen for a refund. The service at this venue is deplorable, the food quality is truly poor and having now been refunded our total bill I believe we have got off light. Would I go again. Certainly not!!!

“neglected plants”

★★★☆☆

written by Brownoq417 on 10/09/2017

Used to get most of my garden supplies from Wyevale Hamstreet, seems to be going downhill, as I've noticed a decline over the last few years. Dropped in yesterday and the state of their overpriced plants both indoors and out was appalling, hanging baskets (full price) on their last legs and outdoor plants tatty. I know it's the end of the season and obviously they need to clear their seasons plants but, the clearance section for 50% off was even worse with plants dying from lack of water. Some plants originally for £12 were reduced to £6, they were barely worth £1. I understand they are just thrown away! what a waste. Wyevale needs to decide if it's a 'garden' centre or a gift shop, they don't seem able to be successful at both, although many companies are. I shall take my hard earned pounds elsewhere.

“Delivery of Garden Furniture from Wyevale not recommended”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Celestee26 on 09/09/2017

We had a good customer service experience at Windlesham garden centre where we purchased garden furniture consisting of a table and 8 chairs; it was an expensive purchase. We were offered a Saturday delivery which was great. The day before the allotted delivery I received a phone call confirming that the delivery would be on the next morning and that I would receive another phone call to give me a 2 hour slot. At 07:05am on Saturday morning I was woken up by a phone call to say that the delivery would be made between 7.30am and 9.30am. I was not best pleased. When I asked what the likelihood of his arrival in 25 minutes the very rude man on the phone with very broken English stated that it was his duty to give me a 2 hour slot. So I further asked where he was at that moment in order to get an indication of his likely arrival, he would not tell me, he simply informed me that he had 2 drop off before mine. When I asked him again where he was and whether he was likely to arrive at 7.30am, he arrogantly said 'madam I am 2 hours away' and hung up. We were therefore unimpressed when he turned up 1 hour later to deliver the furniture at 8am. I do now expect to spend over £2,000 to be woken up at some unearthly hour on a Saturday morning for the delivery by a very rude man. I do not recommend that anyone purchase anything that needs delivering from Wyevale. You will not get a good service.

“I went to Wyvale in Dorking and had the best customer...”

★★★★★

written by kuoni123 on 27/08/2017

I went to Wyvale in Dorking and had the best customer service ever. I am revamping my garden and didn't have much idea on creating a herbaceous border. The person I dealt with was amazing not just her knowledge on the shrubs and plants but her enthusiasm to help me and give me the best advise. As far as I am concerned she went over and above. When I went to get my car the person I dealt with waitied for me to help me get the plants in without damaging them whilst I was gone she even marked my plants in order of where they should be for example which ones would get the biggest and need to be at the back were marked as number 1 and the smallest ones would be 3. It's rare these days to receive such a profession personal service with a smile. I will definitely return and have recommend to all my friends and family if you need anything for your go visit the person I dealt with.

“Staff at John Browns, 3 legged cross are brilliant!”

★★★★★

written by NanyH on 17/06/2017

I am not allowed to put names here so I will be writing to Wyevale head office to name and say how absolutely brilliant the manager of the John Browns garden centre is. We were desperate to get a 4 seater Landford garden set, after our local Wyevale gave us slightly 'duff' info, suggesting we wait in case the price came down. Nowhere now had one, but this manager said he had some of the pieces, and then set about like a dog with a bone getting the rest! He succeeded and has made us sooooo happy! Then the young lad on the till, (again seems wrong that I cannot name him!)was so polite and informative about the delivery. Will go there again....bit further than our local one but worth it!

“Diddled”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Trailertent on 04/06/2017

We called into the Wellington Wyevale garden centre in Hereford on 03/06/2017 at 14:00 and I purchased some cat food JWB dry biscuits. It stated on the pack 25% off original purchase price of £12.99. I asked about this at till and the lad put code in and it came up full price. He fumbled around for a calculator and took off £2.99 stating managers discount on receipt. I wish I had been quicker at the time but as you can see this is obviously not 25%. Its not worth me travelling back for this. I put this down to experience telling me not trust Wyevale staff. It is sad a reputable place such as this cannot have honest people serving customers. It will make me think twice of going to any Wyevale branch again. Its not vast amount of money but it is the principle and no body likes to treated like a mug.

“poor information”

★★☆☆☆

written by an46 on 24/05/2017

Yesterday I visited Wyevale Garden Centre with the intention of buying 10 large bales of compost. I had seen a notice saying that it was free delivery if you spent over £50. At the till with my other purchases I asked about the free delivery to be told it was only on furniture over £100. There was no free delivery by Wyevale even for a big quantity. I knew I had read it and looked online. IF YOU BUY ONLINE more than £50 you get free delivery. Shouldn't the assistant have known this! It would have saved me a trip to Andover and surely it could have been ordered in store?

“Vouchers are waste of time - they often don't scan & u...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by happygoose on 16/05/2017

Had problems with the last two sets of vouchers now they are electronic, the last set will not scan (aro £14.50), emailed 3 times and phoned - nobody cares, nobody answers. The restaurant said they have trouble when the bar code is on a phone too. Obviously not worth the hasstle. I have another £14 on my current card but what is the point when the last lot will not scan. It is a waste of time, chuck away the card. It is not worth the bother. The restaurant is quiet good but the useless vouchers just cause upset.

“Gardening Club Vouchers Rip Off”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/05/2017

Passing Wyevale, Tarporley, Cheshire on 2nd May, I decided to stop off to buy a few plants. I spent £75.49 but as I had called in by chance I hadn't got my garden club tokens with me, which were £10 off any spend over £30 and double points. I mentioned this at the till and asked if they could do this through my membership number to which they had access via the till database. This was refused. I then asked whether if I returned with my tokens could they validate them. I received a blank look. I rang the Garden Club, quoting my membership number and gave details of my tokens that had been sent to me by them, asking if they could authorise the Tarporley centre to award them to me in retrospect. I was surprised to be told that they have no control over this sort of thing and it is up to the individual stores. Wyevale is the most overpriced garden centre in England, e.g. £30 for 3 lupins, so I would have expected a little more understanding. Consequently, I will now do everything to avoid ever spending money at Wyevale again. Customer loyalty clearly counts for NOTHING. Buyers should also be aware that the Garden Club is not a central club and has no control over the individual store choices on how it deals with tokens etc. so, if you are dissatisfied with how a store treats your club card awards you are on your own.

“Poor customer care.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DawsonGeorge293 on 26/04/2017

A friend bought a Wyevale gift voucher for a birthday gift. This was misplaced. Despite having the purchase time and date, they claimed their data could not identify the card. They promised to call back in a week. They didn't. I visited and asked why I hadn't been contacted. A further week passed before I had a call. No gesture was made to replace the card, so in effect they have my £20 illicitly. Will I shop there again? Nope!!!

“Interesting!! Shenstone, gazebo”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JustusWelch on 23/03/2017

Visited wyevale garden centre near Wellington, Herefordshire, yesterday. First visit, female staff member was extremely helpful. Second visit, to clarify information about item Outdoor Living brochure, spoke to manager, who reaked of smoke, was not helpful at all. Did not know anything about the outdoor gazebo we were looking at and as internet went down did not wish to help much, just blamed head office. I explained that the item was not on the Internet. Obviously has not heard of using a phone either! When Internet came back on, did see me, but did not approach me to find out any more. Rang service centre today, was given a different phone number and was told that 3x3.5 m meant depth, width and height were all 3.5mtr!! When queeried, he did check and came back with, obviously, a different height figure. I was also told that I could not order from him, wrong number, even though I was told by previous customer service member that I could!! Very confusing! May I suggest that's wyevale looks at their training for staff re products again. Also when told by several staff members items can be ordered from the website, said items should be on it! All members appeared really surprised that both large items were not! Total over £2200, which I think you may have lost sales on.
