“OK on small purches but refuse payout on larger ones”

Booked my £2600 holiday with Sykes Cottages through Topcashback. Promised 3% cashback but now they're refusing to pay out. Its funny how all the small ticket amounts get paid no problem, but when it comes to the big ticket amounts TCB say "there must have been an issue with your cookies"

“Poor service, false & misleading claims & faulty...”

Their so-called customer service team are mostly ignorant, unhelpful, patronising, time-wasting, (possibly being deliberately obstructive to make you go away & not bother them any more), and very frustrating. They are incapable of understanding simple problems and have little understanding of how their own website and processes actually work! As for their processes: their algorithms cannot do the most basic mathematics! They can't add up or subtract without making basic, fundamentally errors in their calculations (for instance £55.00 minus £25.50 SHOULD equal £29.50 - but Topcashback's FAULTY algorithm comes up with £29.49 - a small, but FUNDAMENTAL ERROR). I always say that, if they can't even do the simplest, most basic things right, then they must be UTTERLY USELESS at the bigger calculations or more complicated sums! Other issues include their fake, made-up, misleading tracking statistics - Take eBay for example, which is showing an unbelievable, simply IMPOSSIBLE 100.00% Satisfied Tracking Stat - what utter garbage! - I have had many eBay transactions that have failed to track, and their are plenty of merchant reviews* of eBay from people unsatisfied with the tracking experience! *The merchant reviews by users are default sorted in a way designed to MISLEAD - they are sorted by HIGHEST START RATING FIRST, rather than the fairer way of by date. I get the impression that Topcashback have little integrity and don't care at all about transparency, honesty or accuracy. They often act in an arrogant, patronising way like they are infallible and superior, yet they are NOT a charity but are in reality, a privately owned, PROFIT MAKING business, whom would not be able to survive without us customers- about time they remembered that, started to respect customers and started to actually earn trust, (my stopping misleading customers so blatantly; being honest, transparent, and fixing the dodgy algorithms that are FAULTY and currently not-fit-for-purpose)!

“Absolutely useless ”

Have contacted them about 10 times unsuccessfully advising of login details. It got a stage where they owed me a rebate & when I advised I can not login I was informed try resetting password, which I also done on many attempts still at square 1, Please do not use this organisation!!!!!

“would not refer a friend again”

i referred a friend, using all the correct links, they have had their £10 bonus and built up a fair amount of cashback which by topcashbacks rules should then have trigged my referral bonus, no sign of friend or bonus, twice i have contacted them by their own ticket system to be ignored. Dont bother referring friends it seems you are just being used as a free customer recruitment agent.

“Topcashback mis-selling deals”

Topcashback should not be allowed to continue advertising a deal and then not honouring the amount. I purchased a Virgin broadband package which was tracked. After a few months Topcashback stated I was due £35 and refused to pay the £140 they advertised for that deal. Don't bother using them as they will falsely advertise and not pay you the right amount. They will even let you know that you can't escalate your complaint and they are not regulated.

I bought a Kindle on Amazon UK via the Topcashback site - on the promise that I will be refunded the cashback offered for the deal at a later time. After some months, I lodged a complaint as a result of not receiving the owed sum of £10, I finally heard back and was informed I will have to accept 0.01p and only after that will I receive the owed sum It's been such a long time, I'm absolutely disgusted with the lack of morals here and people need to be aware not to sign up to this site. The offer deal was advertised on their webpage.

“Very disheartening when you get emails rejecting your...”

I would definitely steer well clear of this site. Aside from the time signing up and having to always navigate through them, it is very frustrating to have your cashback claims rejected. I am going through this now; they've declined the claim even though I have given the number of the insurance policy I bought and their own records show I visited the TopCashBack site at the time the policy was bought. It just makes you upset, angry and feel helpless dealing with them like this. The money is promised but doesn't materialise - unless it's a few pence and how much time is worth wasting just for that?

“£2000 worth of purchases not paid out since 2020”

I have been using TopCashBack for years with hope that they will pay out the cashbacks. Unfortunately they only track small purchases. I have purchases totalling £2000 that are worth £100 in cashbacks, non of them have been tracking since October 2020. I had small purchases at around those dates from same retailers and they have been tracked, surprisingly purchases were of small sums(not expensive). I have started using they competitor cashback service and they track every purchase no matter the price of products and I get cashbacks in timely manner. I have raised claim at the end of 2020, they never helped me in any way, just reply with similar message every time and ignore me until I ask for an update again and again. Very disappointed with their service.

“Awful”

I have accumulated money throughout the year, most orders have been constantly pending even tho they were bought and had email saying I’ve earned cash back. I tried taking money out but it gives me no option to use bacs payment , this company takes more than u earn. Stay away from them u get better offers on the original companies websites on offers. Terrible customer service they don’t respond.

“They locked me out of my account”

1 day when I tried to login with my password it didn't work,so I reset it and still couldn't login,I wrote them 100 emails send them my driver's license as a proof of identity,they still didn't unblock my account and didn't tell me why they did in a first place,I had 49 pounds cash back remaining so they probably blocked my account to not pay me, customer service is rude and sends me emails at 11:36 pm which is a complete joke.

OK if your cask back is only a few pence, when it goes to £20/£30/£40 or more it gets declined. When I open a missing cash back claim it is always my fault it never tracked, never down to anyone else.

Hi..do nothave high hopes for these guys....purchased a laptop from Currys PC World....on 12/5/20...today 12/11/20 status is...'confirmed' and remains so for the last 5 months...on second instance purchased car insurance using their sister concern Website known as Quotezone.co.uk....on 19/4/20...status today stands at cancelled....raised a query...status on their customer care website states...'waiting for retailer'... as on 12/11/20...absolute joke....Am watching my account like a hawk....Will take these two issues to the highest level....unless settled within the next 2 months....Be Warned

“Cannot get any customer service”

Since August 1st my credits from Top Cashback have stopped. I still keep using the recommended sites but am not using TopCashback anymore. I guess that someone has hijacked my account but Top Cashback are not at all interested. When I try to complain they say the page is not available. It could be that they are keeping the cashback receipts for themselves. I would advise customers not to waste their time using their site.

“Any excuse under the sun...”

If I could give a zero rating, I would. Total sham - never pay out what you expect, make it as difficult to pay-out as possible. My experience was terrible, expecting £50 pay out, ended up with £37 after a 3 month battle with them. If you have hours of free time, then this is for you. If not, don't bother.

We promise our members to pass on the commission we receive and I am sorry if the amount we received was not as you expected it to be.

You say we use any excuse under the sun, when it's these reasons why you haven't been paid the full amount of cashback and if you wish to ignore them you will likely have the same happen in the future.

For example, if the commission had to be split up between different companies we're not going to be able to pass on the full amount we shown as we haven't been paid that but something like this is easily prevented.

We can't force the retailer to pay out when they're tracking network don't believe we are eligible for the full funds and I am sorry if you think this should happen.

I am happy that you made a purchase you needed to make any way and you gained £37 you would have otherwise thrown away if you didn't click through from our site.

Where do I start. For a long time now I have been chasing cashback and topcashback come up with a wide variety of excuses. Strangely, if you contact the companies direct they inform you they have paid or it is topcashback and then the companies say they will pay you direct to be sure and remarkably you get the cashback. Therefore, something not right somewhere. Do not trust any estimated times of payment by the companies and do not trust topcashback as they do not pay. I would give them no stars but unfortunately have to give them something. Avoid the company as they promise and do not deliver!

The companies literally just pay the commission, they don't decide who to. They make sure the purchase is legit and hasn't been cancelled and then the tracking network distributes this.

Understanding the declined reason is key to avoiding it in the future and so I am sorry you wish to not believe what the team is advising you. If the commission has been paid elsewhere, it's because their cookie is more prominent on your device. It's easy to avoid by following our tracking advise.

The estimates payable time frame is generated based on factual statistics. It's automatically created looking at how long the retailer takes on average to progress the cashback from pending to payable.

We pay out millions each year to our members. While I am sorry you have had cashback declined or waited longer than originally expected it is disappointing you have taken the opportunity to try and suggest we don't help members. We can't gurantee we will bring you the outcome you would like when you get in touch but that's doesn't mean we're a bad company or one that doesn't do what it promises.

I think you need to talk to your companies you get cashback from as I have evidence the company has paid and your company has not!
Please also read the other negative reviews as well where your company has declined payments as your companies excuse is 'tracking' which is a poor excuse when some people have evidence it has.
I would urge people to contact the CEO's of companies if you do not pay and find out what has happened as I did and they have now confirmed they will pay me direct (result).

“Keep an eye on your account.”

The following review is based upon my own experience and is from my own opinions. Big cashback amounts will likely be refused with no real explanation, they tell you that you did something wrong but don't tell you what, then contradict themselves frequently. Smaller cashback amounts will only track 50% of the time and if you use your account a lot, like near Christmas, unless you keep a good eye out, you'll not notice half of them not tracking. Customer service is appalling! In my experience, cashback is never paid within waiting times advertised and if you have to chase it up, be prepared to wait a year or longer if they actually pay you, or 3 months to be refused payment, with no right of appeal. I'm waiting for my recent purchases to become payable then I'm closing my account. I've heard better reviews of Quidco, so will give them a try.

Bad tracking is not just bad for you and it's not bad for us as can be seen by this negative review you have posted about us.

Can we stop purchases going untracked? Not really because things will only track if you tick the right boxes. Can we help and advise you on how to improve tracking? We certainly can.

TopCashback, nor any cashback site can force the rules in their favor, but by completing steps such as clearing cookies before logging in you can help our site be recorded as the last referrer which is what triggers payment.

We are paid this money in the form of a commission payment and these commission payments aren't given time frames. However, the fairest thing to do is to award everyone their money when we are awarded it.

We asked our member base if they'd rather have no info on the time frame this may take or if they'd rather we calculate an estimate for them based on real factual information and they said they would prefer that and so that's what we did. We can't promise every purchase gets paid within this time frame as it's a statistical calculation based on evidence but it is the best we can provide.

It is disappointing you feel moving to another cashback site is going to solve the issues you point out in this review as they have to use the same processes as us. The likeliness is you'll be affected by the same things there too at one point or another. However, I hope the info here has helped you avoid issues going forward and explained the process of cashback a little more.

“Still waiting!”

Took out a policy promising £150 cashback within an estimated three month period. It is now NINE MONTHS later and the cashback still has not even moved to confirmed. Customer care seem unwilling to chase as the substance of the replies to my monthly chasers is simply 'hang on a while longer'. Yet my wife took out the same policy a week before me and she received her cashback several months ago. Why such a disparity?

There can be a disparity if the retailer or their network don't believe we're eligible for the cashback.

Rather than just give up we'll fight your corner and do our best to assist and this will mean keeping a claim open until we get a reply from the retailer.

This is quite the opposite of not caring or not worrying about your claim. We're doing it because we want a response and a positive response at that.

I am sorry to hear that because a tracking network hasn't replied to us about an individual claim we are not as good as a different company.


The chances of this exact situation being reflected on another cashback are the same chances as it happening through us as we believe they have to follow the same process as us. The tracking network doesn't have any sort of secret code of conduct to reply to them first which is what would be needed if it's truly the case they get responses faster. They have to reply to us all as soon as they can.

With a lot of claims on our site they are resolved within the time frames we estimate. However, if it's not we then have a decision. To decline the claim with no outcome or to keep on perusing.

The better option for you is to keep it open. We understand this means a longer wait but at least then we are still arguing your case to try and get the cashback for you, rather than just give up on it.

We strongly feel the quickest option is rarely the best one to provide the best outcome we can for you.
