I ate here with some friends recently and although the food was alright and the price average, I have to say that I am disgusted at the service, although the waitresses were friendly and polite I wanted to voice my concern regarding the length of time our food took, as well as the fact that they forgot our side orders, so I approached the manager 'Adam', when I approached the manager he was very aggressive, argumentative, I could smell ALCOHOL on his breath and to be honest he looked like he was on coke, other then the Manager the food and service is probably worth the money spent.

We took our family to the Haven Grimsby for a birthday meal. Two of us ordered roast beef dinner, which on the meanu stated 'FRESH SEASONAL VEGTABLES' veg was frozen, the yorkshire puddings were frozen and the roast potatoes were forzen! When we complained the waitress acted liked she didn't care - we didn't even get an apology! Would NEVER go there again!

On the 30 August 2009 we took our 14 month old Grandson to Brewers Fayre we where supplied with a baby seat which I have to say looked like it was out of the dark ages, unfortunately for him this seat and chair which it was attached too fell over with him in it, luckily he was not too badly hurt but I was realy annoyed at the staff no one approached us to see that he was ok . I went and spoke to our waitress telling her that this type off baby chair was most unsafe. Customer safety should be paramount.

written by bushbybabe on 05/08/2009

Brewers Fayre restaurants, no matter how cheap they are stay away if you value your sanity.

No doubt they receive many complaints from what I am reading on the review sites and probably don't care about another one. The service and staff at this rest should all be sacked. We waited over 1 hour for food, even the friends we met who ordered 15 minutes after us got served before us and I had to repeatedly go to the bar to request our initial drinks be served to us, I even offered to carry them myself (as is usual) to save time. The manager was indifferent and could not care less. The coffee when it arrived was cold and like mud, very nasty.

This is the second time we visited these inns the other one was Bankhead Gate Glenrothes Scotland where the food was disgusting to say the least. AT least the manager there did try to rectify the situation though. In future we will NOT be using these establishments and will recommend to all our friends and on the review sites that people stay away. Once they lose trade like little chef did perhaps they might want to serve customers properly and train the staff better.

Drinks are overpriced at £1.40 for a small bottle of coke, food is disgusting, staff have a could not care less attitude and really do not care. Not even worth going for the £9 menu, cheap food but very low quality! In fact one wonders what is in the food if it is that cheap.

went to harlepool Brewers Fayre easter sunday, april 12th 2009 waited for lunch for 1 hour ,after been served by lovely waitress, the dinner was not pleasant. I asked for turkey, i received the smallest 2 pieces , carrotts raw, cauliflower raw, also a mushy mess what my husband and i thought was mash caulli and leek? horrible. Sorry for the waitress having to serve these standard of meals to unsuspected customers.

Willow Farm Brewers Fayre, Rainham, Essex. Pre-booked party of 10. I thought the food was like convenience food you would buy at Icelands. It was either warm or cold. My grandsons lasagne had to be re-zapped in the microwave as it was cold in centre and resembled the cheap food you buy in supermarkets, not homemade as you would expect in a restaurant. Seating area was extremely tight and we had to be served by passing food from one guest to another. This meal cost £200 and we felt it was not value for money at all. Disgusted. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

I visited the Green Man several years ago and it was very nice.
I therefore stopped for lunch with a friend and expected it to be the same. I thought the general standard of food was poor and the staff seemed totally demotivated.

I felt the service was awful, waited 40 minutes for a starter which consisted of bread and dips, and one came out with only 1 instead of 2 dips. then waited an hour after finishing our starters for our main course of pasta. Took them a long time to clear our plates. Then when our main finally arrived the garlic bread was stone cold, seemingly uncooked with the garlic butter unmelted on top. when we asked for drinks they took ages to come and were 330ml bottles not the glasses which our previous ones were, which coincidently were more expensive. waited an extra 30 minutes for desert after finishing, all this with no smile and no apologies.

written by Thomas Shield on 31/07/2008

Roast chicken dinner at Brewers Fayre - legs seemed dried and hard - carrots hard - no ice in the drinks - tables around us uncleared - waiter placed meal on the table and apparently disappeared before we could ask for sauces.

Looked like the meal had been cooked some time before my wife and I entered the restaurant. Waiter didn't hang around long enough to seem helpful to us - not everyone likes music loud enough to spoil conversation.

written by qwerty1234567 on 16/07/2008

We were new to the area a few months ago and our first visit to Brewers Fayre was poor, thought the decor etc was awful. We didn't get a meal as the chef was 'unavailable' until later on. We were reimbursed for the drinks order but we went elsewhere to eat.
As a B&B, our guests (including families), ask for places that are close-by so that they can walk to. As a service to tourists, we are obliged to recommend good places to visit. We are reluctant in recommending the Craigside in Llandudno because of the state of the place and also from some of our guests experiences.
Many of our guests want to walk to eating pubs from our B&B, so that they can enjoy a drink and a stroll and the Craigside is the only one. We want to be able to happily recommend the Craigside, as in turn it's good business for the pub but also good business for all us hoteliers.
We have been told by Brewers Fayre that the Craigside is going to be refurbished in the future. We wonder when this will be?
Perhaps when the season is over which is a shame as money is being lost. When it is refurbished, we hope it becomes as good as the Afon Conwy (by the Premier Inn near Mochdre). That is far better. So Come on Brewers Fayre, get the Craigside up to date!

“Me and my partner decided to go to The Heartshead Inn...”

written by laura2107 on 06/06/2008

Me and my partner decided to go to The Heartshead Inn for our anniversary dinner. I had chosen the The Heartshead Inn because it was a great family place and used to enjoy going there as a child. As we entered the building we felt ignored by some staff and expected to find our own table. A few moments later we were approached by a waiter and felt he wasn't in helpful mood when he asked us if we wanted to order. We replied that we did and started looking through the very poor menu and found not a lot of choice. My partner and I finally found something to eat when a very large loud party were escorted to a table right next to ours. We had had enough and couldnt hear ourselves talking so decided to move to a quieter table we when someone who we think was a member of staff very rudely confronted and asked why we had moved. We explained and they walked off. Our food was then delivered to the table only to find they had gotten my order wrong when my partner complained. A further 15 minutes later my food was then brought out after my partner had already ate his food. We shall never dine at The Hearsthead Inn again.

“Nice looking restaurant with Premier Inn attached. ...”

written by on 11/05/2008

Nice looking restaurant with Premier Inn attached. Normal selection of food as expected at a chain like this however everything had either garlic bread or garlic sauce, not much variety. Fish courses ok, chips just warm though. Some staff attentive and pleasant others obviously did not want to be there and making loud fed up sighs about other diners does not go unnoticed by those nearby.

We won't be vising a Brewers Fayre again. It was not a place we felt comfortable eating it. Hygeine was obviously not high on their list of priorities. Yak!!!!!

Firstly, its a Brewers Fayre and 4pm, thats can be bad combination. Pub chains like this precook their meals and they may sit there all till they are sold, but secondly and most importantly why, after spotting these things were wrong in the pub did you still eat there. <br/>You say that hygiene may not have been on their list of priorities, well if you ate their food it may not be in your list either.

My own opinion is that these places need a vast improvement in every aspect, until this happens I will not be going into one of these establishments ever again.

I agree with this review because... these companies need to realise that their service is not acceptable. Pay peanuts, get monkeys! Employ proper staff!

“Arrived at The Bowling Green restaurant in Weeley,...”

★★☆☆☆

written by dorothy001 on 19/12/2007

Arrived at The Bowling Green restaurant in Weeley, near Clacton on sea at 8.15pm. The restaurant has recently been re-furbished very nicely - I went in earlier in the day to pre-book Christmas Menu and paid £20 deposit. On the evening we were shown to a lovely table, all nicely decorated with Christmas Crackers and even place names - lovely. All received our starters very quickly - no problems. Then we waited almost an hour for our main course, which was 3 Roast Turkey Dinners. The restaurant was almost empty, so no idea why we waited, but think they had actually forgotten us as we were tucked up the back - they seemed quite surprised when we asked where our main courses were - they finally arrived at 9.45pm. We then asked them for drinks, which they said they would bring to the table - after 20 minutes we went to bar to find a tray sitting on the bar which must have been forgotten about. The waitress then brought our desserts and was trying to put them on the table before actually clearing away the main course! Lovely. Finally, to top off a less than great evening, they disputed the amount of deposit I had paid - I really could not be bothered to argue over the £5.00 and decided to leave. I was told that I would receive a call the following day about the missing £5.00, but I am still waiting. It really is a shame, as this is now such a nicely furbished restaurant.

“Why is is that 'family friendly' restaurants are all...”

★★☆☆☆

written by sorrelgrange on 02/10/2007

Why is is that 'family friendly' restaurants are all so stereotypical? Mediocre service, processed & unimaginative food and decor bright enough to stimulate spontaneous hyperactivity seems to be the price you pay for having children. Why do restaurants like the Gateway Park Brewers Fayre in Lincoln assume that once you have children you lose the will to consume a decent meal?

Also, the indoor play pit has been the cause of a few tears. Our daughter is only 8, but she has been told that she can no longer go in it to play 'because of insurance' (she is a fraction over the 'height limit'). Is there no end to the red tape and compensation culture in this country? Needless to see we won't be back.

Tump's Response to 314718_sorrelgrange's Review

I agree with this review because... it seems that these establishments think that offering a play area for children is enough to keep customers coming back. Just because we have young children doesn't mean we don't expect quality food.

Waited for an hour for our meal. Some of the seating was very badly stained, tables not set, tables sticky, children's ride not working, children's indoor play area was ill equipped. children's 'party bag' poor value and quality. And the manager at Laurieston Farm was not very helpful.

I agree with this review because... every Brewers Fayre I have ever visited has had sticky tables. What do they wipe them with? I dread to think!
