Only had my Hoover Alyx TC1182 for a little over a year and of that time it spent several months in the box as my house was being done up. I removed it from the property so problems were not due to the builder using it - he had his own vacuum cleaner. I have recently replaced with a miele vacuum cleaner which though quite expensive is so far much better value mainly beacuse it actually works!

This Hoover Alyx TC1182 had no durability at all in our case. After 4-5 times of light use everything broke off. Also the carrying handle doubles up as the leaver to empty the dust bag. Consequently when you carry it you will find the contents of the cylinder back on the floor?Sorry I bought it. Even more sorry I lost the receipt.

The Hoover Alyx TC1182 is a hopeless vacuum cleaner. I would stay away, no good for even a medium sized family home I don't think! It's small which is its only good point, but it just doesn't pick up any more.

A vacuum cleaner, such as this Hoover Alyx TC1182 is a device that uses its air pump creating a vacuum, although partial, to suck up dirt and dust, usually used on floors. The dust & dirt is collected through a cyclone or a filtering system, which can be disposed later - This is the general definition for a vacuum cleaner - Sadly the Alyx in my case in no way matches this definition and I don't think after using it, it should not in any circumstances be considered a viable solution for domestic cleaning. Could possibly serve as a sort of cleaning in joke. i.e. "I was doing the hoovering with my Alyx the other day...." when clearly this is not possible on account of the afore mentioned inability to do anything vaguely like the task of sucking up dust, dirt or other particulate.
