Written on: 01/07/2009 by blackwidow (2 reviews written)

Changed from bakers to Iams Dog Food, only because it didn't contain any nasties, and my bitch is pregnant and i wanted a good quailty food reasonably priced, i have 2 big rottwieler. Big mistake, i've gone from having pristeen dogs to dogs having poor brittle dull fur that is falling out, the only thing that has changed is their food, having read other reviews it looks like the fur issue is a common problem, hence i wouldn't recommend it for coat quality, but i had no problem with their… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/03/2009 by Arthurs Angels (2 reviews written)

Our Springer Spaniel, was eating Alpha Puppy when we brought him home. We needed to change to something more available in the supermarket / shop, so changed to Iams, thinking that premium puppy food (with a premium price) must be the best.
After around a week or so we noticed there seemed to be a negative change in his coat, digestion and behaviour. After much research we are now changing to Burns… Read Full Review

Written on: 19/12/2008

The first ingredient in Iams Dog Food is Chicken (with water). Once the water is taken out during the manufacturing process, it falls down on the list. This means the primary source of protein in this feed is Corn Meal.

I question this companies means of preservation. They seem very misleading (what is 'mixed' Tocopherois). There are too many other quality brands out there for the same money to be messing around with this stuff in my opinion… Read Full Review

“My 13 yr. old lab/shepherd mix has always been fed...”

Written on: 18/11/2008

My 13 yr. old lab/shepherd mix has always been fed Iam's Lamb and Rice dry food. Since last year, he got skin infections and has lost half the hair on his body. We thought it was just old age allergies (which he never had before), but the last trip to the vet turned on the light bulb. She asked if we had changed our dog food. We didn't, but had noticed that the food looked different than it used to. Then we found out through other concerned bloggers that Iam's changed ownership and the formula… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/10/2008 by Alfster (1 review written)

I'm surprised that people have had bad experiences with Iams Dog Food. Dogs always need time to adjust to a change in diet and this should really be done gradually. I feel that anyone giving this food a chance would find it to be excellent!… Read Full Review

Written on: 21/05/2008

I've had my black lab on Iams for about 2.5 years starting with the puppy formula, then changed him to lamb and rice. Recently, as another reader stated, they did in fact do something to their formula and its been nothing but a nightmare since. His coat is dull and dry, itching all the time, he eats grass like there is no tomorrow and he sheds way more than he used to. labs have 2 coats so I take it with grain of salt this time of year but its really bad. I've changed him over to Californa… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/05/2008

My black lab is 4 years old. We have had her since she was six weeks old. The breeder had her on Diamond dog food, after she turned one she got sick off a bad bag so we switched her to Iams large breed. She is in great shape. We get comments all the time how shiney her coat is, she is in picture perfect health. She's been on it for 3 years, so proof is in the pudding! She is our happy, healthy pup!… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/02/2008 by fmhansen (1 review written)

My dog has very sensitive stomach and Iams Lamb and Rice was the only dog food she could tolerate. Recently they've changed their formulation (adding caramel coloring to 1/3 of the kibbles). After her first meal, it came all back out. We tried again about 2 more times and she threw it all up. We were able to find some left over bags of the old food but after those are gone, we'll have to change to Eukanuba or Science Diet (we haven't tried those yet). So, if your dog is food sensitive, it might… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/06/2007 by animal lover xx (1 review written)

We tried our first dogs on this, and soon after we found that it was one of the worst foods we could have possibly given. It is full of E numbers, and other cheap fillers. The items coming from his other end were runny, and not of his usual sort, and from now on I wouldn't touch Iams Dog Food if it was the last food on earth… Read Full Review

Written on: 23/12/2006 by jenbrown (1 review written)

I have two boxers, a puppy who is four months old and a 1 and 1/2 year old boxer. My older boxer immediately had frequent and runny stools, and we didn't realize it was the food. After awhile he began throwing the corn up daily and having diarrhea. My puppy didn't start throwing it up until about three months on it. As soon as we stopped feeding them Iams dog food, their health was normal and they stopped throwing up. For the record, I was stupid and tried to feed Iams again, and the same… Read Full Review

I have now been feeding our 5 dogs on Iams Dog Food since early December & have found a huge improvement in their coats & conditions since I began feeding them this food, I show our dogs week in week out & have to say I have never seen our dogs looking as good as they do now & their coats are smashing, their over weight problems are history now with this food, I had tried & tried to cut their weights on chum complete without any success at all, would recommend to all… Read Full Review

Luckily it is not your dogs IAMS carry out their vile and unnecessary animal testing on. Shocking isn't it? Look up any of these websites and you will see what I mean. Uncaged, BUAV, PETA. They all uncover the real horror behind the food you feed your much loved dogs. Any true animal lover will be horrified when they discover the truth. There are alternatives that are as good and tasty to animals which are not tested on other unfortunate animals. Armed with the facts, you can make your own mind up!

Iams (Lamb and Rice) actually made our Blue Heeler Boarder Collie Mix mean. She was begging to be skinny so we tried Iams. She ate it and a the next day she was out starting fights with our other dogs and biting me and my family. The shyer dog we put on it became mean that is when we knew that it was the dog food not the dog. So do not use it… Read Full Review

you need to learn how to read labels my friend. Neither Nutro or Pro Pac have any real chicken in them only chicken meal. The first ingredient in Iams is Chicken and thats the way it should read on anything you feed your dog. Anything that says meal after it means its not good.

As far as I am concerned, anything with Procter and Gamble behind it is not good!! Check out what they do to animals to make this food!! Vile, unnecessary experimentation!!
