I have had a very unsatisfactory experience and would never recommend Moneybookers. They are not responsive (They've only responded to 1 of my many, many emails) and they have not responded to my concerns in a timely manner, except to tell me they are researching it. In an email dated 1/13/08 they advised me the matter would be resolved in 1-2 weeks. I'm still waiting.

I opened up an account: verified credit card, address, bank account and used it once to send money to my relative. It went through OK. I wanted to use it second time, transfered money from my bank account to my moneybookers account and as far as I am aware a message appeared saying: your account has been blocked for security reasons. Well, I guess they have a right to block all they want since it's their site, but why did I find out about it only after I put the money in their account? They request me to send them a copy of utility bill in my name (they are in parent's name) or copy of the bank statement received via snail mail (all banking done online and no paper statements but moneybookers claim everybody gets paper statements). Not sure what's happening now but due to my experience I would not recommend Moneybookers.

I would fully recommend using moneybookers as a merchant because you get no charge backs. It is secure, fast and professional. It only took three days to wire transfer the money to your bank and also quick to verify your account. Its available for all countries unlike Paypal. If you have to receive lots of payments then it is also better for you because there is no receive fee. It also supports betting/gambling if you are into it. For sending someone money using moneybookers cost 1% (upto 50 cents). If you want to upload using credit card, it will cost you 1.9%, no fees if you are receiving money or uploading funds via wire transfer - THIS IS LESS than pay pal!! Hope this helps anyone deciding to use moneybookers in the future..

I thought that I could set up a Moneybookers account and use it immediately, I was very mistaken. Three weeks ago I set up an account online and provided all my details. I wanted to use the account to purchase a DVD costing £15. Tried to use my debit card, it registered it and then verified but then the Moneybookers system could not carry out any card transactions. I then decided to do an online bank transfer, three days later £50 appeared in my Moneybookers account, I tried to spend it but again blocked, no spending allowed from the account until further money laundering checks are carried out. I then had to scan my passport and home utility bill and send by email to moneybookers. that was two weeks ago and since then nothing, no reply to my emails, I telephoned their call centre and was on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up, bear in mind it costs £1 for every 4 minutes waiting, my call cost £7.50. My advice is don't waste your time.

I'm still not sure about the Moneybookers online payment site. Any other reviews will be really helpful. It's expensive to use your Mastercard, and they immediately take £2 off you.
