I had a painting accident whereby the can hit the arm of my sofa when I fell, catapulted off, hit (I think) the edge of the half opened lounge door causing the paint to splurt indiscriminately all over, causing considerable damage to my sofa, carpets, woodwork etc. They claimed that a couple of lines of paint could not have been caused as I described, which is completely wrong, every spec of paint damage was caused as a result of the fall and whilst I was still on the sofa. The report did not dispute the paint tin ring on the arm of the sofa or the remainder of the extensive damage. I spent over 3.5 months challenging this and asked many questions, all of which they refrained from answering. Their conclusion of what happened would have been impossible and when I asked how they considered it possible they did not/could not answer the question. My original pictures showed an expensive wool carpet in excellent condition with no marks or stains, however, three out of the four pictures used primarily in the report they commissioned were taken around 3 weeks after the event by the loss adjuster and showed big black marks, which was a result of debris from the door handle being removed when my joiner came to take the door away to be dipped. This was totally unacceptable as it showed my home in a very different state. I have sent my case to the Financial Ombudsman and I have obtained an estimate to have an independent forensic report carried out. Having never had a contents insurance claim before, I have been truly shocked at the injustice. I asked the Company who wrote the report to pass this to somebody else within their practice to look at my original photographs and take account of everything that I was saying but their response was that RSA want to keep control over their cases. The Company who wrote the report never visited my home and had no direct communication with me whatsoever. I have written to my MP as I strongly feel that reports written for such purposes should be totally independent and impartial, there should be no conflict of interest whatsoever in order to protect innocent people. I am having sleepless nights and panic attacks, being accused of something I have not done is dreadful, I am frightened that I have been made uninsurable and to think that people who can stand as expert witnesses can get a situation so wrong is alarming. I urge anybody who is going through a difficult time due to this insurance company to write to their MP, publish your case on as many review centres as possible and proceed to the financial Ombudsman if you do not get justice. Walking away is not the answer, it is what they want you to do. Finally, to all the people writing nice reviews about how easy it was to get insured with this Company, I hope, for your well being, that you never have need to make a substantial claim Jean Wells

More Than Insurance .....had a leak under my bath, in January this apparently has been leaking for quite some time, and had gone through my bathroom floor to my hall ceiling and onto my hall carpet, all the flooring was water damaged as was the floor boards/ceiling and my carpet in the hall way . rang my insurance company , and made a claim . was told yes am covered etc . some one came out and measured up for my carpet, i got 2 builders out to assess the damage as i was asked and sent in 2 quotes in . then i waited and waited, nothing from more than . so i phoned them . oh we never received them ?? , so i sent them by e-mail .. waited nothing rang them again , oh well we couldn`t open them ( then processed to tell me the price on each quote ) confused!! . sent again by post i rang 2 weeks later, received, she then told me that i wasn't covered for my builder to remove the bath which wouldn't come out in one go and tiles would be damaged in doing this to get to the damaged floor boards underneath. which i do not know how i am going to get to them unless this is done by magic, which i wasn't told this when i first took my policy out, which is very stupid. so i contacted my builders again, they came and gave me the quotes again , which they wasn't happy about.and i sent them in again . i made a complaint as this was months later, i did how ever receive a phone call from the complaints department , and they apologized, which was fair enough but still waiting for my claim to be finalized , they paid £50 compensation. then i rang them after i had sent the re-quotes in , they now want the size of the bathroom , so i sent this in too . i then sent 3 e-mails which none where answered last week to find out what was happening . , so i ended up ringing them Friday just gone, to be told he couldn`t see my quotes on his system and he will ring me back Monday ( today) he did`nt ring , so i rang him for him to tell me i have now been passed to a claims handler again, because i made another complaint, i am going round in circles, i am now into the 8 month of the claim and still don`t see a light at the end . i am fuming , its shocking costumer service .

The rain has been so heavy that one day it was like a whole swimming pool landing on my roof. The weight of the water pushed the guttering apart and directed the flow of the water up against the side wall and pushed the flushing away and the water enter the house flood a room. They sent round a surveyor that said the roof flushing was not fit for purpose. This is Roof Flushing, declined my claim. MORE THAN INSURANCE if NOT fit for purpose. We have been with them for 5 years only to find out our building insurance is not worth the emails. PLEASE Don't USE THEM. You Risk your house

I made an emergency claim on my house insurance following my teenage son leaving the bath running all afternoon! Literally every floor, ceiling wall and light has been effected. I was told someone would be out within two days to start the drying process... 3 weeks later they are coming!! What's the point! The loss adjustor came two weeks ago, she approved it and said she would pass it back to more than, I will hear back within 2 days! I have made endless phone calls and no one has a clue what's going - just keep getting told its being reviewed! My ceilings are hanging down, some of my kitchen units have dropped off, half the electrics in my kitchen aren't working! I have young, hearing impaired, children but I just have to wait! I have complained, emailed, written and shouted but still nothing is done. More Than employees are rude and incompetent. Never again!

On March 10th 2016 I received a renewal notice for my home and contents insurance policy by post from MT. I was somewhat surprised, because I had cancelled this policy on 12th March 2015 and had taken out another policy with a different insurer. I immediately went to check my bank statements and sure enough, discovered that the 2015 insurance premium of £274 had been taken from my bank account. I telephoned MT and was told that whilst a note of cancellation had been placed against my policy, they had failed to cancel the direct debit with my bank. They went on to say the money would be repaid into my bank account within 5 working days. Seven days later, I had not received a refund, so I sent MT an email, demanding the refund. I received a telephone call from MT and was told the refund would take place within the next four days. Finally, on 23rd March I got the refund. I did not receive any correspondence from MT during the time it took for them to make the refund, no emails or letter of apology for their incompetence. They took money from my account illegally for 12 months and did not offer one penny of compensation, no interest or payment for the premium rate telephone call to their customer service department. If you take out a policy online with MT, they take an immediate payment direct from you, yet a refund takes TWO WEEKS? This is a badly organised company, who show very little concern for customer service and I would advise anyone to steer clear.

Competitive Priced Insurance and efficient and polite customer service. Just renewed for another year. No paperwork, just confirmation of renewal payment by way of text, but sure that is the same with most things. Underwritten by well known company so all in all very happy.

so its a five star based on premium. I had a claim with them and there tried it on with me. I ended up employing my own loss assessor who wiped the floor with them. tried to settle my claim for £17k my own assessor took over and out of nowhere settled for £53.4k. Rate an insurance company based on claim experience, not the price of a premium

Well said, Reb!
These silly ratings on how easy it is to peruse whatever website to pay for a premium are pointless. The real test of insurance companies is their efficiency and honesty in dealing with claims. End of.

Please take notice of these reviews, Morethan make promises in their policies that they simply do not keep. Our house was struck by lightning causing both buildings and damage to internal electrics and electrical items. Despite clear evidence of the incident including a fire investigation report, Morethan have failed to deal with our claim correctly. They contract claims out to another company who are completely useless. We have been passed backwards and forwards, there is no communication, or customer care. We have lost count of the calls we have made, there is no communication strategy in dealing with claims, no co-ordination. I would advise anyone to steer well clear and if you have had problems with them make a complaint to the Ombudsman. This is a big company exploiting consumers for their own ends.

the customer service team at more than is terrible, they took a direct debit 6 days before the due date and caused me to get a charge from my bank. when I spoke to them they didn`t sem to care.

I havent ever done this but having worked for customer service teams in the past i am shocked that on 1st June i rang these people to amend an address and was ON HOLD for 7 minutes (longer than with anyone else, ever!). I then rang on 1st June after 7pm and was on hold for over 17 minutes (17!). So i left it until 8pm tonight, 2nd June as was actually answered after 6 minutes and 24 seconds by someone with a birmingham accent who appeared slightly "deaf" as several things had to be repeated. Even though i asked to be put thru to a line manager, apparently they have all gone home to their cigars and brandies leaving the untrained overworked (so the lady claimed) in the office to handle "lots of business". IF these people are understaffed i would suggest one of two solutions...1) WE take our business elsewhere so that we can be treated professionally as we deserve given that we are paying their wages OR 2) increase staffing levels which is unlikely given the economic situation in the uK at this time..MY ADVICE is GO ELSEWHERE

My shed was broken into just under 2 weeks ago and my camping equipment, large quantity of fishing tackle, and several tools were taken. Within 1 week the more than (rsa) had reimbursed me the money for my camping equipment and tools via direct bank payment. My fishing tackle is being delivered this morning. Last August our house was burgled while away on a camping holiday and items taken included jewellery, computers, electrical items totalling around £14000. Within 10 days items like computers and ipods had arrived and within 1 month everything had either been replaced or vouchers had been delivered. There were some items that we were given the money to replace ourselves. We have been insured with more than for over 14 years, that is home and motor insurance, and the service has always been fantastic. Maybe I have had a better experience than most of the other reviewers here due to the fact that I always keep receipts stored away together, and this was a great help when the house was burgled. In fairness to them,i only had receipts for my tools and camping equipment this time and they still got everything in under 2 weeks.

i had a leaking roof no problem i thought i more than insured not likely. i phoned them more than two weeks ago, they said we will send an emergency repair team out i am still waiting. Me and my wife both work so they tell us when they can come so we arrange time off or get someone to sit in the house for us and they don't come that day but they do the next which really is not much good because there is no one there. So I would hate to wait for them if it was not an emergency.

Had home insurance with this company. Made a claim last March in 2014 fro roofing damage. Sent out a buildings surveyor to asses the work. The roofer that I had appointed sent them a written quotation cost of materials and labour. They refused the claim on the grounds of wear and tear. Another claim for blocked drains. There agent from Ansa drainage company didn't even inspect the problem with the drain. Just unblocked it and went. I have put a letter of complaint on the 14th of January 2015 but still have not resolved my issues. Negligence from RSA company representative no replies received. More Than is an Insurance Company who are less than helpful.

On the 16 January 2015 I tried getting an online quote, after completion I was unable to retrieve the quote. I phoned several Morethan agents though most were helpful they gave me different information, some said you should be able to retrieve the quote, others you cannot due to Data protection, but none of them were able to post or email me my Quote. I sent an email addressed to, The Manager on the 25th Jan 2015, who replied saying someone will ring me in 48hrs, instead I get an email reply explaining how to retrieve the quote, despite me saying I had tried with help from their agents. That was it I heard no more from that person. On the 3rd February 2015 I phoned again to a helpful agent who went through the whole quote again and said that I will receive the quote by post in 10 days, even though this quote will show over £40 more, it will be respected and I will get it at the online quote. Several years ago I had good dealings with Morethan, it is a pity that this has happened.

I reported a minor fault on my boiler; the minor fault being a small drip. An engineer visited my property , came in said he knew what the problem was and said they would be back in touch, a second engineer came out with the part. I would like to point out that until the second engineer’s visit the boiler was in full working condition. The engineer turned up, was at the property for approximately 2.5 hours and said that whilst fitting the water section a bolt shattered inside which would result in me needing a new heater exchange. He phoned the order through for the part and said it would be here on Monday, this would result in me being without hot water and heating over the weekend. I received a phone call from CET home emergency stating that the boiler was beyond economical repair and they would provide me with £500 for the cost of a replacement boiler – I didn’t think this was acceptable as I heard the engineer ordering the part. I phoned CET back asking for an update, they advised that they were waiting for Plumb Care for update. Numerous phone calls have been made between myself and CET Home Emergency care with the outcome being the same; they refuse to approve any further work being done to my boiler. I had just about had enough so decided to go straight to Plumb Care, I spoke to a very sympathetic operator who advised that the part had been received and it was CET who refusing to approve the works being carried out. I advised Plumb Care that there was a £1000 threshold on my policy and they couldn’t understand why there was a problem with an engineer carrying out these works to rectify my boiler. In the meantime I am left without heating or hot water, I have a child with severe asthma and I can see no way of this being rectified. CET Home Emergency Repairs do not do what it says on the tin! I wish I would have stayed with British Gas and stayed away with such companies! The operators are not interested in anything you have to say. A firm like More Than should really look at closely who they sub contract work out to. I certainly will not be using companies like this again - absolutely disgusting firm.

More Than have been superb. They sorted the claim within a couple of days, always call back when they say they will and customer service was superb. I had to get more money for extra painting even after sorting the claim and they couldn't be more helpful. Will be staying with them and will recommend to friends and family.

The storm a few weeks back damaged our roof breaking our sky light. The weather was horrific and water was coming in. So they send out two guys from CET home emergencies. It was a mistake ever letting them into our house. They have done more damage than good. Resulting in a funnel effect to allow more water to come in to the house. We have been like this for over a week. We have called, emailed & tweeted. They replied to the tweet straight away to make it look like they are actually doing something. But yet we are still sat in with more and more water damaging our property. Never have i experienced anything like this. They are meant to be there to take the pain out of a stressful situation. Yet they have done the exact opposite.
