I visited this car dealership after noticing a car on the autotrader and have to say the level of service was very good. I had previously bought cars from new and can honestly say the level of service offered here far exceeded that of main dealers. Yes I did pay an extra £400 for a customer care pack but what I got was what it said on the box. I can only think the negative views expressed in this forum are from people with little or no experience of buying a car elsewhere.

Dealing with these people has been one of the worse experiences of my life, I actualy bought a car from strood motor company only for it to go wrong just two weeks later i had paid for a warrenty so took back to them to be fixed, A few days past and i had not heard a thing from them so went for a visit, My car was sitting in thier garage with servere damage, the back of the car had a dent in it and the rear screen broke. They then proceeded to replace the windscreen with the wrong screen for the car and told me "he thought it looked better" and then told me my car had still not been fixed and they could not find a fault,

typical cheesey trying to shaft you dealers, usual £500 warranty bullsh*it, maybe they need to read up on consumer rights. something seriously dodgy about the car we looked at, i bet the HPI people they use is the person in the onsite shed, sorry garage.

Phoned ahead to check a car was in stock. Confirmed it was having read reviews asked if there was any additional costs and was told price was as screen. When arrived onsite was ignored and had to find a salesman amoung the many people onsite. It was like turning up at one of those pubs where all the locals are inbreed and there where no friendly faces onsite. Anyway back to the story salesman was rude and then told me about their "warranty" and there would be an additional £400 to pay. I declined this and advised him that the chap I spoke to prior to my visit said I didn`t have to take there warranty but he advised that it was non negotiable. In conclusion untrust worthy dishonest rubbish.

To cut a long story short...

The cars there are fine, some are indeed very good. The ones that have dents/scratches/other defects have prices to reflect this. Even the good cars are priced well too...

However after reading some of these reviews I called to ask about costs, and it's true... There are a lot of hidden costs, i.e the £400 warranty, MOT and service ... Or if you don't want the warranty you still have to pay a £100 indemnity fee (whatever that is) just to drive the car away.

Customer service is also poor, I was completely ignored until they found me walking into their offices looking for help. Oh and they sold the car I wanted 20 minutes before I got there, even though I called beforehand saying that I wanted that car and had to travel a long way to get there.

Overall: good cars, decent prices, terrible customer service.

Staff have an appalling attitude, the strangest encounter with anyone trying to sell something. The 'salesman' took insult to every question asked about the cars history and condition and as we entered the office to view the cars papers were told this wasnt the right car for us and he wouldnt sell it.

We brought a lovely BMW from these dealers payed £400 for warranty inc MOT, service and valet etc which I thought was a bit cheeky but we paid it anyway as we loved the car.
Had the car 1 week and could smell burning and the steering was shaking took it to a garage and they said what was wrong with it and it was highly dangerous and needed fixing asap, this was a Saturday I'd rung Strood Motor company to tell them and they said ring back Monday, unfortunatly I could not wait untill Monday I needed my car so we got the problem fixed. When I finally got through to Strood motor company I was told to fax the reciept over for a refund because of the warranty I did this and waited for a response kept ringing and was being fobbed off that it was coming etc. I still have not recieved my money about 2 months later. If a car has had it's MOT this problem should never have happened
What a joke it's not even that much money that they need to pay me!! All I can say is this company needs to watch out because one day they will mess with the wrong people!! I will get my money some way or the other.

I was slightly worried when I read the reviews on Strood Motor Company as I already put down a deposit on a car. I dealt with a staff member called Adrian I found him to be polite and professional.
My husband and I went to view the car which is a Mazda sport one Sunday, the salesman let us take it for a test drive on our own.
Yes, we did have to pay an extra £400 for full service, MOT, and a 12 months warranty which I thought was well worth the extra layout. They also replaced a broken wing mirror. When we went to pick up the car it looked brand new and I have had many positive comments about it from my friends.
Also the after care is very good as they will service it at cost price. Although there are many negative comments about this company no one has said they were sold a duff car.

Being an Independant Finance Company, we stumbled across Strood Motor Company as they had the type of vehicle that met our clients brief.
The customer was very keen to see our customer and explained the car was lovely etc etc. When the customer arrived they would not let her test drive unless she was buying the car, they tried to sell the car with NO MOT, WARRANTY, SERVICE as a 'Trade Sale' which is illeagl for a trader to sell a car to the public on a 'sold as seen basis. After keeping her waiting 30mins on the forecourt in the rain, the salesman came back and stated 'Well, are you buying or not'
I deal with traders on a daily basis and have over 10 years experience selling cars on forecourts my self and these guys give the Motor Trade the bad reputation that it does not not desevre. PLEASE BE ADVISED TO AVOID THESE GUYS LIKE THE PLAGUE

Having read some of the negative comments about Strood Motor Company I would like to write something positive. I recently bought a BMW from them and yes it was £400 more than advertised on the internet, however for this I get a full vallet, years MOT, some paintwork repaired and a years warranty, good value for money I would say. Throughout the transaction I found the sales staff to be polite, friendly and helpful. When I picked up the car it was like new. I did need one electric switch which was faulty and this was posted to me by recorded delivery. I have no complaints!

The cars look bargains but as seen on the forcourt they dont come with any kind of warranty .If you want to buy one expect to pay between 400 and 1000 pounds extra for repair work and a warranty for the car otherwise it doesnt come with anything.They are very reluctant to show you any paper work even asking for thier advertised HPI check.I saw a heat shield missing from the exhaust area of a mini,when I questioned the dealer about it , he picked it up and threw it aside.
The other thing to be aware of is if you pay the extra for the repairs and warranty,you will only be covered if they do the servicing and they want to see the car for an inspection after 6000 miles ,that obviously is not free either, in my view having one of thier stamps in your service book would devalue the car.

I can't tell you how angry I am with this company they are rubbish. They kept me hanging on for nearly 2 weeks for a car to come in, turns out it was being resprayed. they never ring you back you have to keep ringing them back every day. I was told it was £5000 take it as it was or for £400 more you can have the warrentee, after waiting nearly 2 weeks I drove all the way down there with £5000 in cash and was told I couldn't have the car for £5k, because he had an offer on the car with the warrentee. I said that I wanted to take it now and couldnt come back after it had had an MOT and service so he said "well you will have to pay the £400 and take it as it is". I reluctantly agreed but then he said he could not take cash and I would have to go and get a bankers draft. That was the last straw I told this a--hole to stick his car up his ****. Dont be fooled with the cheap prices, it will cost you dearly in the end!!!! God only knows what the after sales service is like if buying the cars is this unpleasant!!!

Absolute rudeness!! The staff here really must grasp the meaning of 'Customer Service' Please be aware when thinking about purchasing a vehicle from this Company, you may get your time wasted! It seems that they actually advertise cars for sale before the said car has even arrived at the Strood Motor Co. forecourt. I was very interested in a £20,000 BMW that was advertised as being at Strood, the spec was amazing and priced at a steal. I was constantly told to call back as the car still hadn't been delivered and was given no information about the car over the telephone. After several days of calling and hearing the same 'story', I asked a friend to call and enquire about the same vehicle - the response they got from Strood Motor Co. "it was sold yesterday" I called back again and was told the car was "still waiting to be delivered". Not sure where they get off on keeping people hanging like that. And they say they are a big Company, then why not try sell me something else in the absent car's place?? Weird way of running a carsales business.

Strange - but true!

I havnt even got to look at a car here! Appauling customer service. Rung this morning about a car to be told ring in an hour, so i did to be told ring in 10mins so i did, to then speak to someone else who really couldnt be bothered to talk to me, wouldnt give me any information about the car and said he was busy and didnt know about the car as they have so many, ring tomorrow. I can't believe how rude they are when they are trying to sell cars. All he told me was no cars have mot or tax, so cannot be driven away, for £500 you can pay them for it!!! £500 for a £30 mot!!!!!

I found this review very helpful because.I HAVE BEEN IN DISPUTE WITH STROOD MOTOR COMPANY FOR OVER 6 MONTHS. I CANNOT GET THE CAR THEY SOLD ME CHANGED OR GET MY MONEY BACK. I AM SICK OF THEM AND WOULD NEVER GO NEAR THEM AGAIN

All of the cars on the forecourt are of a great clean standard and most have great low mileage, there is a large choice of cars to choose from, as yet I've not chosen one to purchase but was referred to this company by a friend who has bought three cars from them previously and has had excellent after sales service so I am keen to use Strood Motor Company to purchase my next car.

When I visited the forecourt I found that the sales team were non pushy and very relaxed and were fine to let you have a browse around the cars and also to just get in and have a feel for the cars without getting antsy about making a sale.

This has to be the worst trader i have ever dealt with in my 24 years in the motor trade,we travelled 200 miles to buy a car for the on screen price only to walk away because they would not sell us the vehicle unless we paid nearly another 400 pounds for what i said was wrong with it and a warranty that we did'nt want, this is both false advertising and against the law, i am suprised that trading standards have not shut this company down

I had a very bad experience with this company. I could'nt have agreed more with the reviewer above. The sealesperson was extremely rude. I have never came across such a bad vehicle company (strange policy and very rude salesperson). They seem to be reluctant to give information and wanted to get rid of the car which seemed very suspicious. I would advise against even viewing any cars and just go to other company. ANY im sure would be better than this.

This must be the worst compoany I have ever dealt with. I enquired about purchasing a £14000 BMW. The man i spoke to was rude and gave me little information about the car over the phone. He said i Would have to come an see it. So i arrived by train (£30 fare) and was totally ignored by the 2 salesmen on arrival. I ended up approaching one of them, I told him who I was, he never once asked me for my name and treated me badly.
Anyway the car was full of dents and scratches and the front colour coded bumber was completely out of alignment. I mentioned this to the salesman and his reply was 'tough' the price is £14000 with no warranty or any also there wont be any kind of car check and if you want the car to be properly repaired and safety checked it would cost you an extra £1000. I asked him why couldnt he knock off the repair bill off the asking price but he said 'no way, no discounts' the car was advertised for £14000 in Autotrader and on their website but on their forecout is was marked at £15500 (Talk about trying their luck).
Was it so difficult for the salesman to mention the damage on the car to me over the phone, that would have saved me a whole day travelling for nothing.
I wouls steer real clear of this company, terrible customer service and horrible company policy and their cars are not checked before sold unless you pay for it. Dont say you havent been warned
