“Endleigh's customer service staff are absolutely...”

Endleigh's customer service staff are absolutely terrible. Hannah and Adam both promised to call me back, a week later I called up to find out why neither of them had bothered and a representative called Charlotte Wild was incredibly rude and out the phone down on me mid sentence. Never deal with this joke of a company.

“I purchased both building and content insurance from...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 30/07/2010

I purchased both building and content insurance from Endsleigh Insurance last year and paid over £1k for the two. In a nutshell I would NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone because when i needed to make a claim I was told that basically I wasn't covered. Really.

Basically in december 2009 my roof started to leak and as a result i suffered some damage to the interior. I put in a claim after a lengthy inspection from their surveyors (and that took weeks !) and the report. In the report their surveyor claimed that there was a defect to the flat roof which fractured. To be honest I wasn't expecting that the insurers will pay for the roof repair (even though it was renovated less than 6 years ago) but to cover at least the interior damage.

Well it turns out that my insurance policy didn't have "additional accidental damage" and the damage wasn't covered. Basically they would cover it only if a tree fell on the house, or for storm damage or something along those lines.

After having paid through the nose for this policy via the internet you can imagine how annoying this all is.

Anyway, the thing is that if you are buying insurance via the internet I would consider picking up the phone and speaking to which ever insurance company you are looking to insure though rather than just buying what most of these comparison site spit out to you. I did and IT TAUGHT ME A LESSON !

For this year, I after using a comparison site for the best quote, I added in ALL the options including "additional accidental damage" and called the insurance company to run different scenarios of what would or what wouldn't be covered. I am probably now over insured ! But nevertheless I have managed to save over 30% off from Endsleigh. I am sure all the insurers are rubbish when it comes to making a claim - after all they are trying to protect their profits !

“After moving house on the exact date of renewal,...”

written by on 25/07/2010

After moving house on the exact date of renewal, Ensleigh still charge an administration fee for changing house details after one day in and don't give you the option to cancel the policy unless you pay a £50 admin fee! What a rip off, don't go near them!

“Do not touch this company with a barge pole. You make...”

Do not touch this company with a barge pole. You make a claim for a mattress which was mouldy, due to a damp room. Assessor comes round to look at the damage, then you spend 4 days phoning them to find out what is happening with you claim. You are told that they will phone you back before the end of the day, 4 days in a row. Then you are told it is not a valid claim because it is an 'Ongoing problem!', it is down to our buildings insurance. DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed you. The insurance is not worth the paper it is written on.I will not be recommending this company to anybody, in fact, I am going out of my way to make sure people stay well clear, The internet is a very powerful tool !!!!!!

“Endsleigh charged well over the odds for contents...”

Endsleigh charged well over the odds for contents insurance in secure city centre flat. Premium was over £200 more expensive than many other companies.
May well be the only company who will insure students but professionals should shop around.

“Endsleigh are the only insurance company in the UK...”

★★☆☆☆

written by spook on 21/01/2004

Endsleigh are the only insurance company in the UK that will provide insurance to students in rented accomodation who want to insure their own belongings in their bedroom or dorm room. It's useful when you are in shared rented accomodation and your flatmates do not want to spend the money to get a policy for the whole house. Unfortunately, knowing that they have no competition, Endsleigh will overcharge you to the point that you are practically paying as much as you would to insure a whole house. I'd say avoid them, but in certain circumstances it's impossible!
