The plastic paddles inside the Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM drum are poorly designed - plastic rather than metal. They are constantly breaking and need replacing - a shoddily designed part which is spoiling an otherwise good machine, rendering it not fit for purpose.

At first I thought it was the bees knees but I was wrong. This Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM machine after only about 6 months broke down all together. The repair man said he had not seen one in such a bad way. It took 3 months for it to be repaired, no sign of compensation. I have had it about 18 months now and it has stopped working porperly again. I was told by another repairman that he wouldn't have one of these given.

The Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM is the best washing machine I've ever had after seveal machines (all Hotpoint) over 30 years. I can't understand the poor reviews and I would recommend it. It's never broken down on us in 18 months of daily use, maybe we've been lucky. It has a large capacity in a standard size casing, is very quiet, washes thoroughtly and has a wide range of programmes. This includes a "bed bath" wash which does a 60 C wash in a shorter time (1h 52m) than normal 60 C (2h 23m) and is suitable for lightly used bedding (1 week). The timer telling you how long to go is useful, although it gets a bit inaccurate near the end.

This is the best washing machine I have ever had, after several machines (all Hotpoint) over 30 years. I can't understand the poor reviews. Ours has never broken down after 18 months of daily use; maybe we've been lucky. It has a high capacity in a standard casing, is very quiet, washes thoroughly and has a wide range of programmes. This includes "bed bath" which does a 60 C wash suitable for lightly used bedding (1 week) in under 2 hours, shorter than the normal 60 C wash of 2 hours 25 minutes. It has a timer telling you how long before the wash ends, although it gets a bit inaccurate near the end.

I have had the Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM just over a year it has broken on no less than 8 occassions. Needing a replacement door latch 3 times as it broke. A new pump twice and new paddles and I don't believe it it has broke down again so I am giving up and getting a different make and model.

The motor broke on my Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM after 2 years, then the door latch broke another 6 months after that, then the plastic things inside the drum snapped off last month, had all repaired due to spending another £159 on an extended warrenty, but now the plastic things have broke again, Customer services was downright rude, and didnt want to know.
Dont buy this machine
Its okay if you dont mine paying £600 for a michine that only lasts about 2 to 3 years

I say goodbye to my Aquatis tomorrow. I must admit that up until a few days ago, I had been very pleased with it. It was my 2nd Hotpoint machine. I had been so pleased with the first, that I automatically went for another Hotpoint model.
* So quiet in both washing & spinning
* Excellent wash results
* Good spin results, with the odd extra spin needed on thick items eg quilt. This was not a big issue and was not a frequent occurrence.
* Excellent programme choices - suited our needs perfectly
* Overall, a good machine
This is the sad part
* A musty smell from the drum. Water remains in the drum after a final rinse.
* Mildew in the soap dispenser. I use only powder - no liquids (no fabric conditioner) at all and place directly in the drum, so avoiding use of the dispenser
* Having been heavily involved with arranging care for an elderly friend in December/January/February, I forget to start the extended warranty in February. BIG mistake!
* Last week, the spin sounded really loud/noisy - but a Bank Holiday weekend ahead.
* The machine did not last until Tuesday - we had graphite- coloured powder under & in front of the machine
* We also had chippings of a concrete-type substance - presumably the stabilising block in the machine
* With no extended warranty & a machine aged 2 years 3 months, we cut our options, went online and ordered a new machine
* After reading numerous reviews, we decided against another Aqualtis.
*Although we ourselves had no problems with the paddles, we did experience small tears in some garments. At the time, we assumed it might have been something we had done. The reviews have made us reconsider.
* The deciding factor was looking at the reviews on reliablity. Hotpoint was unfortunately in a very poor position. Had that rating been different, I would have given serious consideration to a new Aqualtis, in spite of what has just happened.

The machine is Great but it is let down by customer serivce. Some staff unhelpful I have a Free five years parts guarantee , but you have to spend £99 for an engineer to come out first
If you intend buying this model which is the best machine we have ever had .. order a set of paddles as well you will need them.

I recommend you do not buy this Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM as I think it will cost u a fortune in parts. i have had my machine 18 months and i have replaced the paddles about 8 times. hotpoint are poor and dont want to know claiming i overfill the machine. ut i have had an independant engineer to look at the machine and he has said its a design fault , the machine is designed to take a big load and the paddles are not strong enough to hold that amount of wet washing?

Not too bad as a machine but very disappointed that it has broken down within 5 months. Even more disappointed at Hotpoint's poor customer service both on the phone and via email. I have spoken to at least 4 different people and thought they all were rude. So far I have been waiting 2 weeks to have my machine repaired and am still waiting. I will never recommend Hotpoint to anyone.

The Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM washes with hardly any water. They say it is the new system, to wash with little water, but what you want is clean clothes, not to economize in water. The clothes come out with dry patches. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it. I regret buying it 100%. It is hardly a year old and I want to give it away.

4 months old and have had 3 new motors fitted and some electronic control replaced. Its broken down AGAIN. Veen waiting a week for someone to come out, been told it will be January 3rd before someone comes. I've asked for a replacement washer but told no. I'll never buy anything from Hotpoint again, I would argue they have a very bad customer service as they are not willing to help.

So far this has been a great machine, washing well and quietly without any breakdowns. Beware that the machine is actually 640mm deep, not the advertised 600mm.

Very pleased with machine but disappointed it went wrong inside 14 months. Up to then we thought it was excellent.

So far customer service has been poor. They arranged a visit form an engineer, but with less than a day's notice changed the appointment, just leaving a message on my answering machine. When I tried to phone them back they claimed to have computer troubles and refused to take my call.
I do not recommend buying from these people.

i have also had alot of trouble with the drum paddles snapping off, actually have had them out twice, the first time to replace one,second time to replace all three, was told by the engineer that they dont just come off on their own and leaving coins and other items in pockets get underneath and snaps them off, which you are not covered for if they find anything in the filter, thankfully they never but ended up buying insurance which covers for accidental damage even thou machine is only 4 months old
