“The last Harry Potter book and Rowling has ended it...”

★★★★★

written by danieljwright on 13/08/2007

The last Harry Potter book and Rowling has ended it with a bang. The Deathly Hallows contains all sorts of great themes including a battle, a corrupt magical government, the heroes being outlaws, tearful deaths of many characters and a slight twist at the end.
The book follows Harry trying to find and destroy the last of Voldemort's horcruxes and hopefully finally killing the dark lord himself.
Mostly, I enjoyed the book but I think the ending seemed a little rushed MANY questions were left unanswered and it left me hanging on a lot of things. What is Harry's job, for example.
Buy this book but be prepared for post-potter depression at the end of it.

I must say I rushed out to purchase the final installment of the Harry Potter series with a mixture of excitement and melancholy. It was of no disappointment whatsoever, it was as enchanting as the 1st four books (the previous 2 being so so on the usual Harry Potter scale). It gave brilliant 'closure' to the saga leaving nobody disappointed I'm sure, thats all I'll say as I don't want to give anything away. A FIVE STAR READ ***** and one that will be read and reread for decades to come.

Read it! It's a great book and completes the series and has a more mature storyline so seems less like a children's story.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that someone thought that the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was predictable. WHAT! Once he started to talk to Dumbledore at King's Cross you thought that he really was gone & that Voldemort had won. I thought the Resurrection Stone was going to come in handy again but it went a totally different direction altogether. Great book!

I loved the book and felt sad when I finished it. Read the last five chapters again. The ending was great.

For me Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows was a real let down after all the ranting and raving. I found it hard to get interested, whereas normally I can't put them down. The first 2/3 are slow and in my opinion the ending might as well have been in a Mills and Boon.

I always wondered how J.K. Rowling could have written the last chapter years ago. Now we all know. It really is a great ending and so happy and hopeful, just as we all have wanted.

The last couple of chapters of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows really tie up all the loose ends. You end up thinking "oh I see, that makes sense now". JK Rowling has really saved the best till last!

“This is by far the best Harry Potter book of them all....”

★★★★★

written by Lynyrd on 25/07/2007

This is by far the best Harry Potter book of them all. It makes all the characters - especially Dumbledore - seem so much more human. We have always seen him as the almighty headmaster who knew everything. In this book, J.K. explores his past and shows us that even the greatest of wizards has flaws and skeletons in his closet.

I also liked Harry more in this book. In the past few, I'd found that I didn't care for his character, but something about this book brought back the spark that had me so attached to the books at the beginning. As for Snape's history with Lily - it explained so much about his character, and showed the deeper reason behind his worst memory in the fifth book.

It was an amazing end to an excellent series that will go down in literature history. The only bad point was that this is the end.

This will become a classic children's tale for generations to come. I for one will be getting a full set as soon as they come on the market to be able to pass on the enjoyment to the next generation.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is quite possibly the greatest ending to story - ever. I don't doubt that it will become a legendary story passed from generation to generation and soon become as timeless and precious as the characters themselves. BEST BOOK EVER.

“I am it seems simply lining up with everyone else,...”

★★★★★

written by thepaladin on 24/07/2007

I am it seems simply lining up with everyone else, but....here goes. "These" books (of which the volume in question is the last) make up more than simply a "good book" or "good story". I am 55 and have read eclectically all my life. Fiction, non-fiction, Poe to Lewis, Lovecraft to Elliot, Wodehouse to....well you get the idea. These are among the best books I have ever read, bar none, and they will be classics read by generations to come.

The characters in these books are as real as any I've encountered and it is amazing that you can suspend your belief so well and effortlessly that running desks, ghosts, and magic are just part of the story. I won't give any spoilers here but let me tell you that unless you have no emotions or feelings at all (and I'm the actual as well as proverbial "old guy"), you will shed tears of multiple types during the reading of this book.

Enjoy! The only thing I regret at all is that I have read it and can't experience it for the first time again. But these books are ones that no matter how old you are when you first read them, you will go back, again and again as when you visit old and dear friends. There are only a few books I feel that way about.

Ms. Rowling, thank you.

This book is one of the most amazing things I have ever read. The constant action was mind blowing, I thought I was going to be upset by losses of lives in this book but theres no time to because as quickly as it had ended the action is straight back in the story. For any one that likes action with a hint of comic, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is 101% for you.

“**WARNING: SOME OF THE PLOT FOLLOWS!!!** ”

★★★★☆

written by Reviewer 35678 on 22/07/2007

**WARNING: SOME OF THE PLOT FOLLOWS!!!**

Overall, I am pleased and surprised with the outcome of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - it is not what I expected. As I mentioned above, I would like the text to be slightly larger, and also I rate it overall: 7 out of 10, despite value for money being full marks - 10 out of 10.

Altogether, a staggering 21 characters die in this book, the most in any book so far. Rowling referred to this book as a "bloodbath" and she was right. The deaths of Lupin, Tonks, Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig were by far the worst, and all four I weren't really expecting to be murdered.

Rufus Scrimgeour and Dobby were two characters I was sat to see go, although Bellatrix Lestrange and various other Death Eaters as well as Lord Voldemort himself I was extremely pleased to see die.

Altogether, I think this is a fantastic book, and highly recommend it to everyone - not just children - but also adults. If you haven't read any Harry Potter books yet - I advise you to start, and if you are a Harry Potter nut, I imagine you have already got this!

Once again, congratulations on a fantastic book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the best book I have ever read - and I've read a lot of books! The combination of characters that we love and the use of mythology and allegory make this a rollercoaster ride of a read. The development of the main characters and the subsequent relationships and deaths mean that all questions are answered and leave you feeling satisfied but disappointed that there will be no more!

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Review
Don't know what to feel...I have no idea how to completely understand the feelings flooding me right now...Its a mixture of so many emotions, like an empowering wave...sweeping over me, my body and my mind. I feel weak. Elated because Harry survived, but at the same time, heart broken, completely over the deaths of characters so real and so special, it feels like losing somebody you really knew. In all my wildest dreams and imagination and those long hours of rambling, did I ever come across the possibility of the death of characters as endearing and special as Fred Weasley and Tonks. Their loss, even though on paper, leaves a hollow in me, rendering me empty, in a way.

They along with so many other people, who had become an undeniable part of my childhood and my life. It hurts, to know that I now cannot be lining up for pre booking another Harry Potter book, or maybe excitedly await further adventures. But one thing's for sure, the magic, the fantasy, the much needed remainder that goodness is what prevails and succeeds in the end, was something that every one of us needs in our lives. And I"m just really happy and grateful that the message of the importance of love, innocence and loyalty, has been so beautifully and so correctly constructed, to touch the hearts of millions.
