Cannot recommend Insure Your Motor Car Insurance.
I was mis-sold my policy, they told me i could carry over no claims bonus from another policy i had on another vehicle. Three weeks into the term after providing all the requested information, they said i couldn't use them and offered me another policy at twice the cost!
They did eventually admit that i was sold a policy incorrectly and after 3 months I have managed to get my money back.
You have been warned!!

Worst insurance company going, I paid a 400 deposit to "Insure Your Motor Car Insurance" and cancelled the insurance within the 1st month and was told it would cost 160 on top of the 400. They then took 200 from my bank and are now asking for a extra 190 so for a months insurance it cost me 790 pound. The cancellation charges are a joke and the customer services is really bad. One of the staff told me to stop phoning up as it isnt helping. I would of rather gone with a dearer company.

Such poor customer service was not even able to cancel my insure policy even though I was within 14 days. Kept telling me about sum charges. Finally got it cancelled after paying £200 in total, after a month charged me for Direct debit a following £77 even though I wasn't insured. Very annoyed the most awful service I've ever had never bin so messed about.

I have insured with InsureYourMotor.com and I absoloutely regret it. The customer service is poor. It is a FSA regulated company with some dire staff who can do nothing to help. It is good to know that they can use a fax machine. They are definately not the cheapest, however offer flexible monthly payment plans - IF YOU PAY THEM.

Do not insure you vehicle with this broker. They hassel you constantly for business, then over charge you with admin fee's which clearly state £25 on all adjustments as per the back of their letters although i have paperwork states £50. Cancellation charges were never disclosed as first contact only to realise their true cancellation rates on the back of their letters, which by then is too late.

I tried 5 times to cancel my policy and am currently fighting a case to stop Insure Your Motor Car Insurance trying to take my £350 for cover when i didn't even have the car.

I took out insurance with insureyourmotor. The policy deposit was paid using my friends debit card (she went on the phone and gave them the details), they then asked for DD details. I didn't have an account so gave them my partners account details. Anyway i missed the first payment, so they naturally cancelled the policy. They then take money from my friends cards to pay for another 2 months worth of money - even though the policy had been cancelled!! so they cancel the policy but still take money - worst of all they take it from someone who isn't even the account holder, someone they had no right taking from. when the policy was set up it was clearly stated while on the phone to them, that the card details were only for a deposit. That is why they required bank details. Also i just found the credit agreement which was not signed by me as I forgot.

My second year with insureyourmotor and they do exactly what they say with no nonsense. Renewals team are excellent with a phone call received when my first payment mistakenly got rejected by my bank, pleasure to do business with.

My insurance covers me for a courtesy car in the event of an accident/vandalism. Car has been vandalised and has been taken to a garage - garage has no courtesy cars and I was told to go to insurance brokers to arrange rental of a car - brokers are unwilling to give me a courtesy car. I have paid for this service and am very annoyed at not receiving it - be careful when insuring with this company - cheapest is not always the best (as i have just found out) Rubbish insurers. I have been driving for 17 years and have never experienced this mush agro. Will not be renewing with these insurers.

I would not recommend Insure Your Motor Car Insurance in any way whatsoever. If you have to cancel the policy for any reason they have exorbitant charges and they look for any excuse to take your money before they lapse cover. In fact they love any excuse to lapse and make more profit doing so by the way they operate. Beware of their policy when the policy anniversary is due as they will try to go for automatic renewal and state that if you don't give more than 10 days notice to cancel before the renewal date, then you are liable for their policy cancellation charges. How can you be liable until you are actually put on cover from the anniversary date?

Try www.morethan.com, I got an really great quote and benefits from them and customer service is excellent. All customer contact numbers are 0800 too not the dreaded 0870 rip-off. Be careful with IYM and good luck!

Billy, I think in hindsight you may be right. Despite receiving a letter from them on 6th August confirming that they had waived the full outstanding amount another letter dropped through the letter box within a few days. This second letter said that I still owed £25!!! I telephoned "Insure Your Motor" first thing in the morning and was told that I could not speak to the Customer Service Manager because his computer had gone down on him (the mind boggles!) and he would call me back. Well I waited until 15:00 and still no call so I called again. Got straight through to the Manager who said he was unaware of the first letter they had sent me, but after some period of silence magnanimously agreed to honour it!

Still not impressed they owed you more than that.

I have some positive news to report. I managed to speak to one of the customer care team who consulted one of the managers who agreed to waive the oustanding fee. This falls well short of covering my loss on trading in a damaged car but it allows me to put this episode behind me with some comfort that at least a gesture of goodwill had been made.

Only after signing up and paying the full yearly amount, they sent me a letter with another bill, which more than doubled the price (over £900 all together). Their reason was that they did not accept my 4 years of no claims bonus, which I have obtained overseas, although this was not mentioned before I signed up. After sending a cancellation letter (having only been insured for a few weeks), the amount that they agreed to pay back many weeks later was less that half of what I have paid for the whole year! Thus, Insure Your Motor car insurance charged me more than £200 for a cancellation fee. After many calls and complaints, they said that there was a mistake and offered a higher amount, but I am still waiting for this money to come (I have been waiting for 3 months now). Every week I have to call them, only to hear another excuse why the money has not been transferred yet.
I am very happy that at least I did not have to claim for anything, as otherwise I am certain that it would be a huge struggle to get any money off them at all. It seems that they have a "find an excuse not to pay" policy which they use until the customer doesn't bother to call any more.

Good customer service staff who were very polite and went that extra mile for me, and they kept me informed throughout my car insurance amendments.
I found Insure Your Motor Car to be very helpful, and it was not that they just wanted my money, but they actually looked for the best deal for me.

When Tesco loaded my premium (doubled) after some minor speeding offences, and despite over 7 years of no claims. I decided to look elsewhere. Whilst that have may have been the correct economic decision to make long-term, I made the mistake of insuring with insureyourmotor.com. Tesco themselves have been very uncooperative overcharging me for cancellation and adjusted premium (eventually refunding me nearly £100). They also delayed the release my NCD certificate.
However, insureyourmotor.com decided to lapse my policy because of the delay in NCD proof. Even though they informed me by recorded letter, I do not see why they and their panel of insurers simply don't reinstate the policy on to full premium until NCD proof is produced. When the policy lapsed, which was, after being on cover for around 1 month only, I was charged over a third of the full annual premium. However, I decided to re-insure with another company on their panel, and the person who sold me the new policy assured me the new company would show some understanding, and I promised to sort it out by mid-September. In the meantime, I receive an email threatening cessation of the new policy within 2 weeks, after only just being put on cover. The representative from IYM.com didn't even address me by name, simply citing terms and conditions and threatening policy cancellation and cessation of my cover by email. The resulting exchange of email communication was not a very nice experience either.
Because of the bad points above, they do not come recommended in my experience. You would think an insurance broker with an e-commerce operation would mean reduced paperwork at the very least, but it's not so in this case! Added to that is an aggressive position on customer communication, and overall service has been a nightmare. I was treated like I was a one-off transaction rather than a potential long-term policyholder.

I chose InsureYourMotor.com Car Insurance as one of the cheapest insurers from the net and regretted it. They sent my policy 2 times to the wrong address despite me informing them of the correct one. When I decided to change my car and needed to get my insurance swapped to the new vehicle as quick as possible I had to phone up 5 times to get a quote, each time I was promised they would get back to me within the hour (which they did not). Then the new quote was considerably higher than I could have got elsewhere but as I was already a customer (and had paid in full for my insurance on my old vehicle) they would not match my other quotes. To add to this when the cover note came through they had the address wrong AGAIN!
