I was excited to see how they adapted this for the stage. They didn't "adapt" it, the actors recreated the entire movie word for word. The acting was horrible, Johnny Castle was almost comical he was so bad. The characters had zero depth and were just impersonating the ones we are familiar with. The whole thing felt like a really bad community theater production.

I took my wife to see this 'musical' at the Piccadilly in London. It was truly awful - so awful that we nearly went at the interval but we stayed because we hoped it would get better.......it didn't! The acting was wooden, the sets were amateurish and the singing (apart from the iconic song 5 minutes from the end) was non existent. Don't waste your money on this rubbish.

If I could give a rating of 0 for this I would. It is probably the worst thing I have ever seen in London and I have seen nearly everything. I have seen better acting, scenery and effort in a local school play. My daughter and I paid £45 each to see this absolute pile of rubbish for my 53rd birthday. I wish we had saved our money! There was no ambience among the cast and it was as if they wanted to get each scene out of the way and off stage as soon as possible. The lead man was ok but the lead girl was appalling. She could not act, sing or dance at all. The scenery and props were amateurish and my daughter was almost in tears as she was so disappointed that my birthday treat had ended so badly. We wish we had gone with our second choice and seen Wicked. Such a shame as we saw this in London about 5 years ago and at that time it was fantastic. We have heard that the Spice Girls musical was quickly withdrawn from this theatre and the touring version of Dirty Dancing put in its place. It should of stayed on tour! Please don't waste your money.

Too much dancing and very little singing. Absolutely no chemistry between johnny and baby. Johnnys voice sounded like a villain in a movie and he seemed rude and very hard to like. Very unlike the movie. Disappointing musical

Visited end of July 2013. Great band but heard little as backing tracks were the order of the day. Poor sets. Wooden acting. Dancing was good. Not like any MUSICAL I have seen before. Paid £65 each for seats and glad we had a pre theatre meal included before the show which softened the blow. The last act was great. Two people singing. Great lighting. Waited until the end of the show to get any feel good factor. No chemistry on stage between main character. Would I recommend. No.

Have seen all the shows at MBS since it opened and was looking forward to this one (loved loved loved the film!) - but have to say it was a disappointing affair :( As ever, the tickets are so overpriced in Singapore that the theatre is half empty - especially the seats closest to the stage (the most expensive) - plus we went on a Sunday so had to add on $12 parking! But the empty seats do impact the atmosphere, and maybe the actors confidence because the vocals were not that great from the leads, we saw the other Johnny who gave a masterclass in overacting, the audience burst into giggles when he uttered the immortal "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!" Some high points - Baby's sister is a comedic genius and the highlight of the show. Baby is well cast and plays her part well. As for the rest - it all felt very amateur and lacklustre. HAd heard great things about this show so maybe it was the cast, or the lack of audience participation (they just didn't join in!) or maybe this 60's tale no longer has any relevance today. Whatever - two hours and $300 down - expensive night out! And we didn't have the time of our lives :(

Worst musical ever... if you can call this a musical. The singing was kept to the minimum and the dancing was mediocre at best. A waste of time

Dirty Dancing, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore A truly bizarre performance of a legendary film. The acting was awful: stacatto lines delivered in bad American accents, with no emotion or inflection. Johnnie sounded more like The Terminator "I'll be back" and baby had the most annoying bubblegum voice. We felt no love, warmth or connection to these automatons and their "intimate scenes" were clumsy and cringey. We were hoping for massive musical numbers, great costumes and dancing, but more often than not the tunes that we have come to know and love were faded in and out to allow for the corny dialogue to be delivered. The impact of the photographs projected onto the back of the stage soon wore off and the shutters in every scene were dull and smacked of a really cheap production. The "water scene" was unbelievably bad. Laughable. The show would have worked better as a Panto, by the end we were rolling with laughter, heckling, tutting and hissing. If rotten tomatoes were provided we would certainly have enjoyed throwing them. I have seem far better am dram productions. Alcohol made the performance bearable (just) and the spirit of the audience made for a very entertaining and memorable evening, but for all the wrong reasons. In summary: An excellent evening for drunk and rowdy hens, terrible for die hard Dirty Dancing fans.

We were really looking forward to a n exciting well performed show in Marina Bay Sands Theatre. We we disappointed in the appalling singing, poor use of acoustics, using loud volume to screech at the audience instead of warmly charming us. baby was lack g in character although she 'tried ' to look clumsy, it didn't work. So sound, dancing, walking on and off stage constantly, no props, no beautiful 60's outfits hair makeup. Just poor and worse than some exceptional school performaneves I have seen. Woud be off see in a week in London

I could not agree more, it was a complete farce and I am angry they charged so much money. Utter rubbish.

The actor who plays Johnny's cousin, Kyle Grant, sang the most beautiful rendition of "In The Still Of The Night" that I have ever heard! The audience went wild!

DO NOT GO! This is NOT a Musical! Poor actors walking about a revolving stage quoting lines from the film while records play in the background IS NOT A MUSICAL! Have been going to see Musicals with my wife for over 30 years an nothing has even come close to how rank this was. Scared to go back now! Is 'Ghost' done the same way? In Edinburgh, some seats cost £75!!! Daylight robbery. Even the drunk hen parties couldn't get excited - says it all.

Went to see this musical at Edinburgh Playhouse. Was very disappointed, been to see countless musicals and enjoyed them all but this was just awful. Very amateurish. Over priced, over rated. The company I was with had the same opinion.

Very disappointing. Johny looked like he is particapating in a dance compertition and so obviously gay that it took the romance right out of the play. There were other much more musculine dancers that can play the role of Johny much more convincing. The "blackman" that 'can vote at last"- poor and bad, bad taste!!!!!!!!! It never was in the original story. I mean!!!!! Almost twenty years down the line and it's still an issue????? The one star I awarded for this play is for Baby. She was brilliant!!!!

The worse musical production I have ever seen. The acting was terrible, the accents were bad and the production was very poor. Overall money badly spent.

This was more like a dance school production. In fact ,that's probably very unfair to some dance schools. Traveled from Perth to Edinburgh to see this rubbish. £120.00 for tickets and rail fares. What a complete waste of money.Left at the interval ,as we couldn't stand it any longer. As previously stated by others ,playing totally on the "dirty dancing " memory.Don't waste your money on this.

Such great potential as was brilliant film and seems to me that is why people are buying tickets. However this was poorly produced and worst musical I have been to. Expensive ticket prices to see such amateur acting and very disappointing that so few songs were included. Too much talking doom and gloom. Audience should have been enjoying a very edited storyline with lots uplifting singing and dancing. However poor music direction and audience did not feel involved from beginning to end. When live band played this was excellent but was not often enough. My tickets were same price as for Leona Lewis and there is no comparison. I left feeling I should have stayed at home. Sorry but not worth the money.
