Thought I might switch to Ocado from other well known delivery supermarkets, but my first order was not delivered within the stated time, no txt was received to advise and I got the standard 'sorry' when I phoned to comment. The order was over 20 minutes late, which might not seem to be an issue, but I do have work to do and cannot spend extra time hanging around. Bad start Ocado - won't be ordering again

“Late Delivery ”

I placed and order with acado as I was unable to drive due to a surgery. Delivery was scheduled for 10-11am. Received an email saying delivery will be hour late. Fine. three hour later still no sign of a delivery. Good that I was home. But who has time to wait all day for a delivery. Very disappointed. No one available in customer services ti get any update. I never experienced this with other supermarket deliveries. Never again with acado.

“Poor”

I'm writing this as a former employee as Indeed job site removed my post because it was far to honest and they didn't like it because they recruit heavily with a heavy turnover of staff for them. So after a recruitment process all done online for a delivery driver at the Cheadle Hulme depot (shows they are desperate for staff) I was taken on, given 3 days training, which was hurried and not in depth (because they wanted you out on the road asap), I was sent out. The device they give you to get around called a Dani system, sends you everywhere except where you need to be going most of the time, sends you down country lanes with dead ends, takes you around long routes and spins around like a compass so you end up going the wrong way, then when you end up in a dead end and stuck, it's all your fault! The yard is a pokey little area stuck at the end of a tight street with so many delivery vans and articulated lorries turning on a pin to back up, it's ridiculous and dangerous! No set procedure for safe driving to get in and out of the yard. A lot of the managers think they are in the Gestapo or should be, BUT not all I do add! I did this for 3 days on my own out on the road and you rush around like a blue arsed fly and you don't get a break because you don't have time. They say don't rush, but if you didn't try to, you would be at it all day! You certainly could risk points on your driving licence doing this job! Ok, you get out and about in the van , but they watch you like a hawk, monitoring everything you do. Days off wise, mainly one day at a time and work most weekends. To the very, very rude lorry driver who drives for Ocado and you know who you are, you are a disgrace to your profession! Avoid!!!

“Great experience all round!”

Received a voucher in the post, I’ve never had a shop delivered from anywhere so thought I’d give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed! Ordered everything I needed, loads of delivery slots available. Shopping turned up on time and nothing was missing or substituted. Delivery driver was lovely and friendly. Will be using Ocado again ???????? Thankyou ????

“Read t&c before ordering!”

Read t&c before using ocado! Awful, driver didn't knock loud enough for me to hear due to it being late so missed the delivery and been billed £58 for the pleasure. Called customer service "it's in our t&c" what that you have to have batt hearing to hear the doormouse delivery driver? Absoulte joke. Im on a very limited income, been a loyal customer for years yet customer service wouldn't offer so much as a £10 voucher awful company will never use again please be aware of this before using them you will be liable if you get a quiet delivery driver. If you actually get your delivery half of it will be substituted anyway boycott ocado

“Thanks for ruined my Christmas Dinner”

I ordered my Christmas Groceries, two weeks in advance which included the main meat for the dinner. However, this "amazing" notified me 30 minutes before the groceries were to be delivered and informed me that the meat for Christmas Dinner wouldn't be delivered. I called the support center and they offered a £10 voucher...and gave all the excuses as possible. I don't need your voucher, I need you to care about your clients. This is a gigantic Ocado irresponsibility. I bet that other customers who ordered the same meat in advance will have the same problem. You could have notified me a few days in advance, or even a week in advance so that I could check other stores. Now, with just two days left until Christmas, and 30 minutes before the delivery, you inform me of this ??? If I could give you zero starts, I'd do it. Thank you for canceling my main Christmas dinner meal.

“Second rate ”

Ordered several meat products although in date only 2 days window until use by I could not use all products within 2 days I feel like I have been given second class service I always choose long best before dates no room in freezer as had been buying for Christmas also delivery time not kept to so lucky anyone was in to receive

“Positive experience”

I have been shopping with Ocado for some time now, and they have always arrived on time. Unlike other supermarkets they pack their goods well and arrive at the door with bags. This is one of the most important services they provide, unlike other supermarkets who expect you to provide your own containers. The staff are always bright and cheerful offering to take my groceries wherever needed. The food is always fresh and prices are pretty reasonable. If one wants something a little more special, they have a wide variety of different brands to choose from. Very satisfied customer.

“Used to be great but now they're always late - no warning”

The food quality and the choice is still very good but Ocado is always late these days - sometimes an hour or more - and there's never any warning. You can't get through on the phone line and the chat that they direct you to is worse than useless. Ocado, get your act together.

“Delivery driver not good”

I usually have great service with Ocado but tonight I was very dissapointed! The driver refused to let me unpack the bags to check all my shopping was present and in date! He also refused to take the bags then just left! Unacceptable, do not send him to my house again

If you think that the driver has time to wait while you unpack everything then you are delusional. They have strict routes and times to follow. If there is any issue with an item then they have the customer service team to sort this. If something was out of date they would refund it.

Well to be fair to the driver if they did that for the 10+ customers before don’t you think he would be running late you are supposed to hand your bags over at your NEXT shop so ie you got 12 bags last shop if you do the same shop the following week there will be 12 bags simple so it saves hanging about customers like yourself don’t have consideration for other customers just because your shop is there drivers are supposed to wait before your finished .

You are definitely on drivers notes as a UNPACKER.

“Often out of stock, even MILK”

I was shocked the other day working at home, out of milk and unable to get to shops that when my delivery arrived, Ocado had run our of Milk of all things. This is extremely poor, and talking to friend of other online delivery shopping, no one has ever heard of milk not being available. Poor.

“Bag refund and rude driver”

I was not impressed by the delivery driver who refused to take the bags back and refund them. He was very rude and shouted that he had no time for this. I only had a few bags and this should not take a lot of time. In the past, I had always been able to return the bags immediately. I contacted Ocado, and to my surprise, I was told that the company policy is not for the driver to wait and I can only get refund in the next delivery. But what about if I have no intention to order again in the future? I think it is a ridiculous policy. Ocado then suggested they would come back and simply collect the bags. This is even more ridiculous. Do they think about the environment and all the unnecessary extra work? Ocado changed the mind after I complained. They refunded the money without coming back but asked me to dispose the bags. There is no consideration about the environment at all. In any case, the driver was rude and unprofessioal. I will feel very uncomfortable to deal with people like this.

The drivers do not have time to wait about, they have strict routes and times to follow to try and get everyone’s shopping delivered in the allocated time slot or as near to it as possible. If a particular driver doesn’t collect the bags just keep hold of them until the next order, they’re 10p each, not a fortune. If you don’t order again then just use them as bin bags!

“Horrible service”

They have underdelivered my products and when i requested a refund they ignored my request. The driver was rushing me so i cant check my order and said that i cant return the stupid bags which i said 10 million times that i dont want. They took my money not delivering my stuff and forcing me to take their bags and pay for them. Dont make this mistake to buy anything from this sham.

“Unsafe driver ran me off the road”

Just been ran off the road by a Ocado driver it’s bad enough that it happened anyway but it happened with my baby in the car that absolute idiot could have killed us. To say I was shaken is a complete understatement now Iv calmed my nerves the anger has set in. There’s no way I ain’t taking this further.He didn’t even stop to check we were ok he continued to drive off. This is of no way an issue with their food etc as I can’t comment on that personally and is solely due to the idiotic unsafe driver that quite frankly shouldn’t even be on the road. When I rang to tell the customer service what had happened the man I spoke to who logged a complaint was very apologetic and was asking if we were ok he genuinely seemed to care so to him thank you, as he was helpful and genuinely concerned about our well-being. I am making this official and will take it further in any way I possibly can because he could of killed us,he does this again someone else may not be so lucky.

“YIKES!!! So bad! ”

The site was really glitchy and not easy to use. Then it wouldn't let me book a delivery slot.i kept clicking, but nothing.i had to go out and back in five times. Not great, but I could cope with that.what I really wasn't happy with was the really poor quality of the food they were charging an awful of lot of money for.i have no issues at all spending extra money if the food is better quality, but the stuff I got was equal to Asda and I won't shop at Asda either for the poor quality, but Asda are half the price! Poor value for money. How is this place still in business? I spent nearly £90 just for myself, and I've had to order a Sainsbury's grocery shop just four days later as the very little I got for this amount is gone already. I've gotten twice as much from Sainsbury's for the same money AND it's better quality AND their site works. This place needs shutting down and I will never buy from them again.

“Camcelled order”

I live rural and only really see ocado vans so thought i would give you a try! What a mistake! Delivery cancelled because of apparent inserficiant funds, i have the money in the bank, so now me and my 5 children are stuck in the midle of nowhere with no food! Absolute disgrace, after reading several reviews it seems this is a comon problem with ocado!

“Closed account after bizarre allegations by driver”

After over 10 years of sterling service, I had to end my relationship with Ocado. A rogue employee, M, made bizarre and outlandish claims I abused him on the phone despite my phone log proving no conversation ever took place. Ocado managers sided with M despite NO evidence to support the bizarre claim. As a result, they refused to deliver my order. I am a brain tumour patient who is seriously disabled and was left with literally NO food in the house. This happened just days before I was due to go away on a medically related trip and was to ensure I had stocks when I return as I will not be able to go out. The inconvenience cannot be quantified, but more concerning is that Ocado employees can lie about vulnerable customers with impunity and get away with it if they don’t feel like making a delivery and want to knock off early. I submitted my phone logs to Ocado CEO with a formal complaint but have not received a response. This is the best example I have ever encountered of how humanity is drifting further from god’s grace every day.

“Ruined party”

My daughter ordered party food for my 60th birthday party. She was originally going to buy from costco but as ocado had £20 off and free delivery this gave her more time to get ready and trim up the venue. The delivery waa 3pm, the party startee at 6pm. No food at 3.30pm so she checked her email and one from ocado saying cancelled!!!. Why didnt they ring the say before as obvious it was for a party. The family had to step in, shopping and making party food 2 hours before the party. Ocado have said it was due to not being able to verify her card through apple pay. - their system issue not ours. They have offered £40, everyone gets £20 on their 1st order so £20 for the stress and embarassment and it did have an impact on the party. Ocado have not done themselves any favours as all the guests wont be using them again either.

“Driver didnt wait, can't read or see in his mirrors.”

Driver can't find the property. Calls, friend answers and says to driver "the recipient (me) can see you and is running to you and waving"... reply from the clown that can't read (delivery instructions) or see 500m... "i can't see him and cant wait" and hung up and drove off with me in the mirror running after him like some comedy. Worst part was i had already called and passed on a message i was with my terminally ill child and had no way to get out to get food. Never again. Save yourself the hassle.

“0 Star Ocado!”

Shouldn't even be one star would select 0. The driver came 45 minutes late after the update said 10 mins late the driver will be spoke to customer service who offered a £10 voucher, like I'd want to shop with ocado again after. Then on top of this I ordered eggs on this order which came cracked and leaked onto to the tea towel they gave me. I asked them to put money into my account they were being funny and said they couldn't do this even tho they refunded m for broken eggs they couldve just refunded me for other items I ordered and this wouldve gone into my account but they didnt. Never using these again ridiculous business and overpriced items which come cracked and late.
